User Type (Dialog , Communication etc) can impact on SAP User Licensing

Dear Expert,
The User Type (Dialog, Communication, System etc) can impact on SAP User Licensing.
Suppose if I craete a user type other than DIALOG such as SYSTEM or COMMUNICATION etc; will this be counted as License User. Or only DIALOG users are paid license users.
Kindly advice.

When I go User Classification Display screen, under Contractual User Type column all my 150 users are marked "Operational" but for those which I defined as System / Communication User are defined any contractual user type.
What does it mean??

When we create users, we would like the USER TYPE field on the Logon Data tab of SU01 to be defaulted to 'Communication'. currently it gets defaulted to Dialog. 90% of our users are Communication. Is there a way to default this field to Communication instead of Dialog.
I couldn't find any suitable user exit or BADI which i can use. If this can be achived via customising or some system profile paramater it would be great.

If my Understanding is Correct You want to Make the RFC Destination of Type H From R/3 to XI.
If you want to send Any XML Data to XI( In case of Proxies Used means)
For Testing purpose You can use Your User And Once it went to production means You can Use Service User in the Logon Details( Ask Basis people to create one Service User & Use it)

Admin users appearing as group20(staff) Can't enable root user

I'm trying to create a new default user template for a load of machines at work. According to everything I've found online in order to do this I need to log in as the root superuser but when I attempt to do so the terminal gives me a 'sorry' response to my admin account password. Terminal command
id
shows my account as
GID=20(staff)
even though Terminal command
dscl . read /groups/admin GroupMembership
lists users root and ict (my admin account)
I've tried creating a new local admin account and that also appears as group20.
Can someone perhaps steer me in the right direction?

It's normal for an admin user to be given the primary group ID = staff (GID 20), and also to be a member of a number of additional groups, including the admin group (80).
Running the id command when logged into a newly-created admin account t1, I got:

How do I configure a Frontend Printer for User type - Communication "C"

Hi,
Inorder to facilitate the business process in our company we have assigned (using T.code OMJ3) 2 Storage locations to print the material documents to the front end printer whenever a GR or GI/GT is performed.
Recently we implemented a project, to perform a GR (movement type 505) using dotnet application, which connects to SAP R/3 using a Login Id with user type "C" (communication). The material documents cannot be printed as the system is searching for a frontend printer. If we assign a particular Printer we are able to print, but this does not help our business process effectively.
Can we configure to print the material document on the front end printer? Assumed that fronted printer cannot be configured to this user type and we tried to use the T.code OMJ4 to assign the user group, but did not work. The output determination was always pointing to the frontend printer and the spool is in "waiting" status.
Please suggest how can we configure so that at the same storage location, we should be able to use the frontend printer by user type dialog or communication.
Or any alternate way of doing this.

RFC User Type

Hi
Calling gurus.
When gererating RFC users for the READ and TMW rfc's in Solution Manager users gets generated, and I know the user type is Communication user, however should you be forced to have to create your own users to use within this rfc would it be best to stick to communication user type, or could a system user type be used.
It is my understanding that logon via read rfc should not be allowed as it could be a security risk.
If I am on the wron track please enlighten me or point me towards a conclusive best practice regarding this.

...A working dialog connection such as *TRUSTED or LOGIN. Once the *BACK destination is created, these can be deleted again...
This prerequisites are need for the creation ob RFC "_BACK" on remote system, but for remote call of sdccn the prerequisites on Page 15 are not enough !!!
If you want to call remotely sdccn from solution manager you need a dialog trusted connection.
I have just tested on our solution manager 5 minutes ago, you are invited to our solution manager if you want to check it.

Found a couple of question-raising things:
1) User type is showing "Workspace Administrator" for almost all users (many are only users) with a couple identified as "Developer" (who really do only have developer privs turned on). If I knew the sql for the IR report I might find the problem - checked wwv_flow_fnd_user and wwv_flow_developers and they both look OK (no recs in wwv_flow_developers for the end users and those with given admin privs are marked as admin, etc.). Did find one dup group name but removing it didn't seem to have an effect.
2) Trying to find out what is going on I found the second: It appears that if you have assigned more than one group to a user (apex group to apex user), then add the group_name column to the Manage Users IR, you get the "single row subquery returns more than one row".
Haven't found any other posts here on this. Any ideas?

After taking the IR sql and working it I found the following:
In this apex installation...
There seems to be a problem with the outer join between wwv_flow_developers and wwv_flow_fnd_user which brings non-null values for d.is_admin and d.is_developer (and for us these are 'Y' if there are no matching records in wwv_flow_developers.
Changing the decode for DEV_TYPE to use a nvl for d.userid to set all users to end user if they are not in the wwv_flow_developers table fixes the display of user type.
Now I am guessing this is a data anomaly rather than a bug. Anyone have any ideas on why the outer join to wwv_flow_developers shows a not-null value for is_admin and is_developer?

OIM11gR2 - How can I list users with an SAP User Application Instance?

Hello,
This is a feature I was used to in OIM9.
Except that in OIM9 the model was a bit different, we had no application instance. We referred to it as a Resource.
Anyway, as an Identity Manager administrator, I wanted to quickly find a user with an specific Resource, e.g. SAP User.
I went to Resources, choose the resource I'm interested in finding the users, then from there I could filter them by Resource Status, either Provisioned, Provisioning, Revoked, Disabled, etc.
Now in OIM11gR2 I can't find an equivalent for this.
From /sysadmin I cant list users from the Application Instances
From /identity I cant search users with a given Application Instance.
Did I miss something? or this cannot be done in OIM11R2.
(Alternatively, I opening SQL Developer and listing the UD_SAP table, but this is obviously not acceptable)

It seems that your application is loading the default POF config file and not the one defined by you in you configuration, due to which it cannot find the user-type defined by you.

Hi Mark,
i did go thru' the thread and understood that no "pof " mentioning in the cache xml file. I removed the pof config details from the cache xml config file and registersd the c++ class using the macro.
after these, iwas able to start the extended proxy server from consol:

althouh i did observe one thing,, when i start the service from console, the ip is different. But from the program, it displays the different ip that it looks for connection and fails.

Unknown user type with POF serialization

I'm using 3.6 and am just starting to implement POF. In general it has been pretty easy but I seem to have a problem with my near scheme and POF. Things work ok in my unit tests, but it doesn't work when I deploy to a single instance of WebLogic 12 on my laptop. Here is an example scheme:

Those schemes have existed for years. I'm only now adding the serializers. I use this same cache config file in my unit tests, as well as the same pof config file. My unit tests do ExternalizableHelper.toBinary(o, pofContext) and ExternalizableHelper.fromBinary(b, pofContext). I create the test pof context by doing new ConfigurablePofContext("/Bus/pof-config.xml"). I've also tried actually putting and getting an object to and from a cache in my unit tests. Everything works as expected.
My type definition looks like this:

I'm not using the tangosol.pof.enabled system property because I don't think it's necessary with the explicit serializers.

it is not mandatory to use tangosol.pof.enabled=true, you can alternatively specify the serializer for the clustered services to be configured for POF (not necessarily all of them) on a service-by-service basis in the cache configuration file explicitly with the following element.

I think you are referring to license user type. If yes, here are the new user type license:
1. Limited CRM
2. Limited Logistics
3. Limited Financials
4. Indirect Access
All of the new user type have different profiles with one another. If you want to know more, just create a separated thread.

When RFC uses, Can I use common user

Hello,
I plan to use RFC that is link between R/3 to external System.
The system I'm thinking is that R/3 is the data storage target, external System is the Data Input.
So, I use RFC to call function Call from external System.
Now,The things I don't know is,
When I use Common User for calling RFC, All I need is one Common User license, Is that possible?
The external System is used by a lot of users.
Should I pay a lot more license fee than one common user.

2. when we use bapi,
we have to provide the user
(which is already in sap)
3. That use should
   have rights to
   do that transaction in sap,
(other wise bapi will give error)
4. There is no concept of common user.
   There is only one user, one user,.... etc.
5. The user who uses the bapi to post data,
   should provide his own
user id and password (of sap)

Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?

I was wondering if I could add my existing, licensed apps to the list of app 'Purchases' that I have on the Mac App Store.
The reason for this is that I recently suffered the inevitable hard disk failure and I had to rebuild my MacBook Pro from scratch (with the help of Time Machine and Migration Assistant, etc.). As usual, I hadn't really maintained my MBP for quite a while and things sort of got away from me, in terms of data, apps, preferences, permissions, users (my personal account, my wife's account, my old work account...), etc.
So I wanted to rebuild my MBP on a clean slate. I like having the ability to quickly download and install just the right apps that I "really" need from MAS safe in the knowledge that:
they are there (assuming they're still available through MAS) with a full description of what they do and when I bought them, etc.
they are going to be in the most up-to-date version,
I'll be able to download and install them cleanly with no corruption from years of multiple user preference changes and permissions, etc.
that they will be managed and maintained (updated) through the same mechanism,
so much more.
The benefits of having apps from MAS are easy to see when compared to going through my downloads folder and emails looking for the latest installers, working out what they're for in the first place, finding the license key in some forgotten e-mail, etc.
I am aware that I can build a clean machine and then restore just the right apps in their most up-to-date version as I had them on my backups. The one thing to say about that is that the apps may have been used and abused once too many times and their preferences, etc. may not be in the most desirable form. It's just not as elegant as the MAS solution.
I realise that not all apps, app versions, or app vendors, are available through MAS. But I still have a fair few apps currently available on MAS that were bought prior to the existence of MAS, prior to them becoming available on MAS, or were bought directly for some other reason (by mistake).
So I wondered if there was any way I could convert my legitimate licenses from simply a direct purchase to one through MAS and have those apps listed under my 'Purchases' list. It would reduce the amount of work I'd have to do, not only to rebuild my machine but also to maintain it.
I cannot find any reference or way of having this work the way I would like it to. But I was hoping that some Apple guru would enlighten me.
I have thought about the possible mechanisms something like this would need to work and I must admit I see some not insurmountable issues (not as much technical as legal or possibly logistical). I realise that MAS is a service in its own right and as such has its own Terms, Conditions and Licensing that may not be compatible with the licenses that I already have. I also realise that when I purchase an app from MAS that I'm paying for the entire service including updates and use on multiple machines that I may own, etc. Obviously I do not want to pay the full purchase cost again for the same app twice, but I am willing to pay a small conversion/upgrade fee to have it managed as part of my 'Purchases' on MAS. Think of it in the same terms as iTunes works. I can purchase music, etc. but I can also add my own CD collection and have it managed by iTunes and store it in the cloud should anything go wrong with my local machine, etc.
So if this is currently not possible, then for the Apple MAS product managers out there, consider this as a suggestion/feedback. I'd be happy to discuss my thoughts in more detail about not only how to achieve this for now but also for the future when you may add existing applications to MAS that people may have previously bought direct and would like to have managed through MAS going forward. The benefits to the users are hopefully clear, but from Apple's perspective I hope that you can see the advantages too, commercially, etc.

No. Only apps purchased from the App Store can be re downloaded for free including updates.
