User updated to WinXP SP3 and now it does not show login screen
Hi,
I have a user that updated to Windows XP3, that Install and shutdown option, but the user closed the notebook.
Now Windows XP boots but after showing the mouse and the blue wallpaper, the login screen never appears and windows stops there.
The mouse pointer is from windows and it is moving, the hard disk shows no activity, no funny noise, etc.
I think it was a problem with the update. I even have done a Install in place of windows xp sp2 and nothing.
Could it be hardware? Or just windows?
Many thanks
Oliver
Dude! Why did you unistall IE7? I don't know that I've ever heard that being a problem in all the few thousand posts I've read.
My recommendation at his point is to boot in the safe mode and do a restore to a time when you didn't have any problems.
It's going to take some good decisions at this point. Let us know how it goes.
One of the rules is not to make things worse than they are... just to let you know.

It just blinks Yellow but will not show up in list so I can work with it. What do I do? Is it now a brick?
On the AirPort Extreme setup.....I assume that you did enter a check mark in the box next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Otherwise, the following instructions will be of no value.
Temporarily, connect the Ethenret cable from your computer to the AirPort Express (AX) and power up the AX in the same room or close proximity to the AirPort Extreme.
Open AirPort Utility, select the AX, and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab just below the row of icons to name the AX, assign a device password (write that down) and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab. Settings should look like this:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the AirPort Extreme wireless network
Check mark entered next to Allow Wireles Clients
Wireless Security = Same setting as the AirPort Exreme network
Wireless Password = Same password as the AirPort Extreme network
Confirm Password
Click Update
As soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored, close AirPort Utility and disconnect the Ethernet cable
Wait 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart and you should have a green light
Locate the AX approximately 1/2 the distance from the AirPort Extreme to the area that needs more wireless coverage and power it up
The AX should now be providing more wireless coverage -

After upgrading to Lion and switching Mail to the classic mode, I can no longer see if messages have attachment in my Send Box. However, I can go into the message and see the attachment.
Strangely, all my messages prior to the upgrade show their attachments.
I've looked through the preferences and don't see a swith for this.
Any suggestions. Thanks.
BlairWalter, thank you for the suggestion.
Perhaps I am not explainging myself very well.
In the Send Box new messages do not show the clip in the Attachments column. The image below is of two messaegs, both of which have an attachment, yet no clip is shown (this is also true of the Draft Box).
In all other boxes, an attachment is shown with a clip (see below).
I need the clips to be shown in all mail boxes.
Thanks.
Cheers, Blair -

Updated to version 4 and now it does not give save tabs option when closing
Now when I close Firefox it only give the option of close all tabs or cancel before upgrading to Firefox 4 it gave the option of saving tabs so when opening Firefox again all tabs where restored.
What can I do to restore the old setting? One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
# Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning''' -

Update OSX 10.4.10 now finder does not show main disk
In spite of the OS being located on the main drive on my inel macbook, finder refuses to show the icon on the desktop or in the finder side pane.
this is insanely frustrating as it makes navigating to the root library folder to add remove audio plugins, or do anything, a complete *****.
the missing HD icon problem occurred the moment I updated to 10.4.10
what the ****?
MacBook 2.0Ghz 13 inch Mac OS X (10.4.8) osx 10.4.10, stock intel macbook duo 2.0 ghzIt is possible that you have become a victim of the Invisible Drive problem. Take a look at this article I wrote and see if that is the case:

If that is indeed the problem, the Applescript should fix it.

I have tried to logon to find my other printer but the email address will not be accepted. If I try to add it the site tells me the address is used and when I try to logon it tells me it is invalid.
I can get to one printer by logging in thru Yahoo.
I have the printer emails for both printers.Hi cueball819,

prompted to update iTunes today and now it does not work. tried reinstalling and caanot successfully reinstall.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

I update to OS X and now iPhoto is not available
In what way is iPhoto not available? Does it show as crossed out?
Then you are running an iPhoto version that needs updating or upgrading for compatibility with MAvericks.
Depending on your previous version you need to buy an upgrade or can update for free from the appStore. See Old Toad's list of compatible versions at this link:
Re: Hi! I am trying to update my iPhoto; however whenever I attempt it says that this update is not avalable for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. What do I do? -

New songs are not showing up on the ipod display but when I view the device on my computer, they are in the playlist but there is a dashed circle beside the missing songs. It previously synced perfectly before the IOS update. How can i revert back to the previous installed version?
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
