User wants to revert from internet to c/s version of Discoverer

I have received the following request from one of my users. I am not a Discoverer expert, but would like to be able to answer her. She says:
"I would like to go back to using the desktop version of Discoverer, rather than the Internet version. The reason is that I need to use the capabilities that exist in the desktop version, but do not in the Internet version.
Here are 2 examples:
1) A simple 'copy and paste' of on screen information to another program (Excel). In desktop, one can do this, in I-net, one must download the information and upload to the other program, even just a few rows.
2) Subselect queries, or query on a query. This capability exists in the desktop version, not in Internet version. Again, I must download, and upload to Access in order to 'query on a query' with the Internet version."
Is it possible to solve her issues without reverting to the c/s version of Discoverer?

With all due respect, PC had (and still has) a great "Go Back" or a "Restore System to a Previous Date" function (i.e., return the hard drive and operating system to an earlier date). This was to help the user in such an event as I described, or if some other malady affected the computer (i.e., operator error). It's a software-based program and does not require a constant backup of the system or individual files as your answer suggests. For example, I could reset my system to this morning, and voila, no mess because of an unintentional install of an update. Unfortunately, it appears MAC needs to catch up and help us now-former PC users. We are constantly making mistakes.

A new tab now appears over my home page which is set correctly; the same tab appears when I want to print from internet and I CAN'T PRINT.

A new tab has suddenly appears over my home page when I go online. I don't know where this came from; is it a Mozilla Firefox thing? Even worse, when I try to print from internet, this page appears instead of my printer box and I am unable to print what I want.

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that flush the tab?
Please report back on anything suspicious you find so others can learn about its bad behavior.

Reverting from 7.7 to earliert version

I want to unistall 7.7 in order to install earlier itunes version.
(I am having download issues with 7.7)
If I unistall 7.7, will I lose my "iTunes" folder (i.e. my library) ?
Would copying my "iTunes" folder to another folder on same hard disc change the result?

Uninstalling iTunes should have no effect on your library or music files, but it is always advisable to have a backup.
AT the very least I would make a copy of iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml from your iTunes folder (with iTunes closed).
When you install the earlier version, you will probably get an error message saying your library was created with a later version. When this happens you have to rebuild your library from the xml file as in this link:

As an alternative, if you are lucky, you may find that iTunes made a backup copy of your library when you last upgraded - look in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder.
The backup files will have the date in the file name. If you want to use one copy it into iTunes folder and remove the date from the name so it is called iTunes Library.itl.

Revert from Yosemite to Maverick

I downloaded Yosemite a few days ago and made the bone headed mistake of not backing up my files before upgrading to yosemite, my macbook pro won't start up normal without freezing a getting the spinning wheel. The only way I can get into my Macbook is to do safe mode start up. I've tried repairing the disk but no help. I want to revert from yosemite back to maverick, I don't have another Mac to get Maverick from to put on a thumb drive but I read somewhere that I could go to the app store and go to "purchases" and re download Maverick through safe mode, would that work? I also don't want it to delete my files if I do that.

You must first erase the hard drive and install an earlier version of OS X that will work in order to re-download Mavericks. So you need to install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. However, if that version preceded Snow Leopard, then you can reinstall Snow Leopard from the retail DVD and update it to 10.6.8. If your computer came with Lion or later pre-installed then do this:
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

Firefox will not import all of the favorites from Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 64-bit OS!

There is another post about this problem in the forum, but the answer does not work. This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem when installing/using Firefox on my desktop PC. I have a new (3/25/14) Dell XPS 8700 desktop tower with Windows 8.1 64-bit (and now Update 1) installed, along with Internet Explorer 11. I previously had a 2005 Dell Dimension 5100 desktop tower running XP Pro SP3 32-bit, which never had any issues running Firefox, but has since died. I used to run Firefox as my default browser, but not any longer. Now, during the install process, Firefox asks if you want to import from Internet Explorer, as it has always done before. I chose yes, and it reported that it pulled everything in from IE. However, it only imported my favorites folders whose names start with a numeral, and then A, B, and onward down the alphabet, but it doesn't import anything more after getting to the folders whose names start with E. So, all of my remaining Favorites folders whose names start with F, G, and forward down the alphabet from there are all absent from Firefox's Bookmarks. I also tried importing the favorites after installing Firefox, which I don't prefer since Firefox installs a folder called Internet Explorer to go to first to get to your favorites. However, still, Firefox only brought in my favorites folders from A to E, and stopped there again. I do not see any way to export my favorites from Internet Explorer (there is no import/export option under favorites, nor anywhere else in IE 11). Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox resulted in the same problem, even after making sure to delete my settings, etc., in the process. Please update Firefox's installation executable so it's able to import ALL of Internet Explorer 11's favorites folders and their contents, complete, as it has always done before. Please contact me when the corrected executable to install Firefox properly is ready for download. Thank you.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

My guess is the OP is using Logic Pro 8 and that version isn't compatible with Mavericks....(10.9.x)
Only solution is to roll back to the previous configuration from backups... or start again from scratch installing OS X 10.8.5 or earlier... and LP8 (8.0.2 is the best version)
Personally I would use OS X 10.6.8 and Logic Pro 8.0.2 as that was a very stable combination (If indeed, the OP has Logic Pro 8)

How to populate custom USER table with data from Oracle Internet Directory?

We have a Users table in our internal forms application.
I want to populate this USERS table each time users are added in Oracle Internet Directory.
Likewise for modification and deletion.
How to go about doing this ?
I know that it involves Oracle Directory Provisioning Integration Service and we might have to use LDAP_NTFY plsql proc to implement this.
Am I on the right track ? Can anyone point me to the exact steps to go about synching up the USERS table from Oracle Internet Directory ?

To handle using DIP, refer to the Oracle Identity Manager, Application Developers Guide. That gives recommendations on the ldap-ntfy package.
Handling the operation using OID plug-in will have performance impact on the ldap operations performed on OID.

Cannot send email via ActiveSync when user connect from Internet (Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5)

This is the first time I encounter this kind of issue, whenever user connect from the internet they cannot send email from their Phone or Windows Mail App, but they can retrieve email
But when they connect from Internal Network they can send email. I already test ActiveSync from internet using www.testexchangeconnectivity.com and it pass all tests.
I also check the Firewall and all the necessary ports already opened (we even open all ports) , the default TTL on the firewall 3600 second.
From what I read ActiveSync use some kind of HTTP POST or in MS terminology "PING" command, but still have no idea what kind of configuration that should be made to the Firewall so it can pass this "PING" command. Because from what I
see in Android Logcat the problem always related to this PING command

Do you have antiVirus installed on the sharepoint servers?
These folders may have to be excluded from antivirus scanning when you use file-level antivirus software in SharePoint. If these folders are not excluded, you may see unexpected behavior. For example, you may receive "access denied" error messages when files
are uploaded.
Please follow this KB and exclude the folders from Scanning.
