Username & Language in Leopard

My MBA came with Leopard installed in the Portuguese Language and a user name (Home) I would like to change.
Must I re-install the WHOLE system? I am worried about the "Erase and install" option – will I loose my files?

Hi.
You can check this thread with regards to this problem.

  • Language for Leopard

    Hi,
    I just bought a new Leopard OS X software. All docs and the explanations are in German (as I bought it in Switzerland). The sales guy said that I can easy change the language for everything into English. is that true and where can I change that ? Sorry I just want to make sure that I can change everhting to English so my wife (who doesn't speak German) can continue the MAC without problems and that all drop downs/menus etc are in English.
    Thanks for help
    L.

    Not really an iTunes question - go to System prefs>Personal>International>Language and make your selection. That is how it is in Mac 10.4 - I only assume that some things remain the same in 10.5.

  • How to I up grade command language from Leopard to Snow Leopard

    I want to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard then to Lion;  How ????

    First check that your current Mac meets the System Requirements for Both Snow Leopard and Lion...
    Snow Leopard Specs:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
    Lion Specs:
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html
    If it does... then you need to Purchase and Install Snow Leopard Disc,
    Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
    And then Purchase and Install Lion...
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/
    Would Also Recommend that you do a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive Before attempting any Major Upgrade...
    By far the easiest way to make a Backup, is to use something like
    SuperDuper  http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
    or CCC  http://www.bombich.com/
    Also... For Lion... Check the Compatibility of Third Party Applications you may be using...

  • Office 2008: Interface elements vanish if Leopard language is not "western"

    I have found a very disappointing bug in Leopard/Office 2008.
    If your interface language in Leopard is Russian (for example) -
    you have interface elements vanishing in Office 2008 which makes it unusable.
    I also tried Polish - the same result.
    However, if you set it to English or French or German - it works glitch-free fine.
    (What's that, some sophisticated ex-communist bloc ban????)
    Anyone has a clue?
    Using of MS Office is predominant here, we have two options either to get back to Tiger or switch to Windows XP. Neither is a good option.

    Thank you for your advice, but the issue is both Apple and Microsoft (I copy this post to Microsoft forums as well).
    If I open anything in Word and start to resize the document window - interface elements start to disappear. This happens only if specific languages of Mac OS interface are chosen, like Russian.
    This can be Leopard bug as well, if localization for those languages has not been properly done.
    So this problem can occur with other software too, rather then just with MS Office.
    And that is my question.

  • Font Book - after 10.5.2 update, font has no preview and doesn't work

    Help me, this problem is driving me crazy!
    I've done a clean install of Leopard 10.5.0 on my MacBook Pro, on an external firewire drive (I want to keep my Tiger install as is at the momement). I install the adobe postscript Type 1 font Carta, which is a map symbol font, in Font Book. Font Book shows the preview of the font, which looks fine. I download a fresh 10.5.2 update and install it, restart. Now in Font Book, no preview of the Carta font, the preview window is blank, or it shows whichever font was displayed before, ie if I click on Arial then on Carta, the preview of Arial remains. Double clicking on the font itself opens Font Book main window, but no preview. The Opentype version of this font does exactly the same thing. Font Book validates the fonts as being okay.
    When it comes to applications, Word 2004 will display the font, but character spacing is all over the place. Indesign CS3 will display the first 96 characters correctly, but after that it puts in a 'missing font' highlighted space. Opening the font with Linotype FontXplorer, the preview shows the font, though it seems to be missing the 'Z' and 'z'. Character Palette shows all glyphs in the font correctly, but double clicking on any above the first 96 puts in a 'missing font' space in Indesign. The trouble is the characters I need to use are all above this point in the font! Basically, it seems that the OS update has changed the font mapping.
    The Font Book preview problem doesn't just happen to Carta, it seems to happen on a number of other fonts, mostly symbol fonts, some that I've created using Fontographer. All work perfectly in OS9 and 10.4.11. Even more annoyingly, other colleagues with different Macs on 10.5.2 are having no problems. I have done all the usual voodoo of deleting font caches, rebuilding permissions, even gone back to the font CDs to get the originals, reinstalled, etc.
    I have installed Leopard from 2 different DVDs, on two different intel machines (a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro), and swapped the Firewire drive onto a G4 (I installed it so it would boot both the G4 and the MBP), and always the same result. I'm going to install an HD internally on the G4, install Leopard and see if the same thing happens.
    Anybody got any useful suggestions?

    I'm slowly getting to a solution, or at least a reason, for this problem. It seems that Leopard has tighter requirements on fonts for the languages they support. The Carta info in Tiger looks like this:
    !http://www.biscuit.demon.co.uk/carta/cartainfotiger.gif!
    Whereas under Leopard it says:
    !http://www.biscuit.demon.co.uk/carta/cartainfoleo.gif!
    Indonesian as the language under Leopard?! All the other fonts that I have problems with generally have NO language when I look at the info panel under Leopard AND Tiger. But Tiger seems to cope with them with my language set to British English. At least this may explain why the character encoding goes a bit crazy under Leopard.
    Out of a peculiar sort of masochistic interest, I went through all of the default languages, plus a few others, that Leopard installs, seeing the effect of changing the language on the Font Book preview. I should just say that the Font Book Repertoire is always the same for all the languages, and the same info is displayed each time too. I'm now convinced it's the character mapping that changes when different languages are selected as the default.
    Font Book Repertoire:
    !http://www.biscuit.demon.co.uk/carta/cartaenglishrep.gif!
    All the following languages displayed the preview correctly: English, Francais, Deutsch, Espanol, Italiano, Portugues, Svenska, Norsk Bokmal, Dansk, Suomi.
    The preview looked like this:
    !http://www.biscuit.demon.co.uk/carta/carta_english.gif!
    The following languages showed the same behaviour as British English, in that NO preview showed, it would display the font preview of the previously selected font: Portugues (Portugal), Austalian English, Canadian English, US English, Espanol (Espana)
    Changing to languages with different alphabets tended to show different things. Not sure if I've correctly identified the languages.
    The two Chinese (I think) languages - AaBbCc characters only
    Japanese (I think) - a to m, A to M, numbers 1 to 0
    Korean (I think) - two arrows usually mapped to singe and double quotation marks, and ABcdEFgh 1234567890 - see this image:
    !http://www.biscuit.demon.co.uk/carta/carta_korean.gif!
    Russian (I think) - 1234567890 ("*#%&@`)
    Polski - This produced the most, dropping several characters from the main alphabet, but adding a load that usually map to ("*%&') - see below:
    !http://www.biscuit.demon.co.uk/carta/carta_polski.gif!
    This all means that I have to stick with "English" as my Language, rather than "British English". I have yet to reinstall CS3, but I'll do this without changing the language, and hopefully CS3 with get the encoding correct.
    Questions? Comments? Sorry about all the images.

  • How to define WE20 partner for all outb deliveries

    Hello, I would like to create an outbound delivery DELVRY05 IDoc for every delivery.   When the warehouse (LIKP-LGNUM) is a certain value, and the packing status is 'C', we'd like to produce the IDoc and save to a file port.   I have setup most of this, but am stuck on the partner function settings.   In NACE, I have defined a new output type 'ZAWB' under V2.  I have select 'EDI' for the medium.  But on the Default Values tab, what should the partner function be?   I want this for all customers.  I can't go and create a WE20 entry under 'KU' for every single customer.  Also in NACE, does an entry need to exist in the Partner Functions screen?  And how would the WE20 partner be defined?

    Requirement:
    Produce an outbound IDoc containing delivery data.  When the delivery
    header packing status = 'C' AND the warehouse is 'SHN' 'SRV' or 'OCE',
    the output should appear in the Extras -> Delivery Output -> Header screen
    as a new entry.  The output will produce a DELVRY05 IDoc, message type DESADV.
    It will be saved as a file on the SAP server, formatted in XML format.
    Setup to get this to work:
    Since the warehouse number LIKP-LGNUM was not available in the standard
    communication structure KOMKBV2, the field needed to be added so we can
    use it in an output condition record.
    1.  Structure ZAKOMKBZ4, added field ZZLGNUM for warehouse number.
        This structure is an include in communication structure KOMKBV2.
    2.  Added field ZZLGNUM to structure ZAKOMBZ, which is included in
        structures KOMB and KOMBZ.  Needed to update the Field Catalog.
    3.  Edited program RVCOMFZZ, Form USEREXIT_KOMKBV2_FILL
        to move the warehouse value from LIKP into the communication structure.
        Insert the code:   COM_KBV2-ZZLGNUM = COM_LIKP-LGNUM.
    4.  Add field ZZLGNUM to Field Catalog, table V_T681F.  Use SM30
        Usage: B    Appl: V2    Field Group: 001
        This will also add an entry to table T681F
    5.  v/59   V/60   v/61   Create/Change/Display Condition Table (Output Shipping)
        With SE11, see what table number is avail, put B9* and hit F4. 923 wasn't being used yet.
        Used v/59 to create new condition table 923.
        Warehouse should appear on the right side now if you did steps above.
        Add field to the left side: Warehouse  (just dbl-click Warehouse on the right side and it should
    appear on the left)
        Pressed 'Generate' button and it created table B923
    6.  Txn NACE.  Select row V2, then click  Access Sequence button.
        Created new Access Sequence Z005 'Warehouse'
        Select row Z005 and dbl-click Access, Add new row: Access Nbr: 10  Table: 923   Hit Save.
        Hit Back once and select row Z005 again and dbl-click Fields, which should
        automatically fill in a new row showing the new ZZLGNUM field.  Hit Save.
    7.  Txn NACE.  Select row V2, then click  Output Types  button
        Created new output type ZAWB which will be used to produce the DELVRY05 IDoc
        Tabs:                    Field:                Value:
          General Data             Access Sequence       Z005
                                   Access to Conditions  checked
          Default Values           Dispatch time         Send immediately
                                   Transmission Medium   EDI
                                   Partner Function      SH    (Ship-To Party)
        Processing Routines:
          Program:       RSNASTED
          Form Routine:  EDI_PROCESSING
        Partner functions:  (1 entry)
          Medium   : EDI      Function:  SH
    8.  Txn BD54.  Created new Logical System 'IEDHL'  for Ireland DHL 3PL Warehouse (Non-SAP)
        This is not really a 'system'.  The plan is to save the IDoc files to a folder on the
        SAP filesystem.
    9. VV21  VV22  VV23   Output - Condition Records : Shipping
        But we can get to this as well via txn NACE.
        Create 3 new entries in the condition table.
        Output type     :  ZAWB   (our new output type)
        Key Combination :  Warehouse  (is the only selection)
        Warehouse number:  SHN   (do same for SRV and OCE)
        Function        :  LS
        Partner         :  IEDHL  (this will be populated in the output screen in VL02N)
        Medium          :  6  - EDI
        Date/time       :  4  - Immediate
        Language        :  EN
        Notice the entries appears in the table B923 now, created in step 5.
    10.  Output the IDoc in XML format.  In WE21, define a port under XML file.  I will
         call it DEV_XML.  On the Outbound file tab, you can specify a function module
         that is used to create the filename.  For example, EDI_PATH_CREATE_CLIENT_DOCNUM.
    11. Txn WE20.  Under Partner Type  'LS', Add partner 'IEDHL'.
        Then create an outbound parameter for DESADV as follows:
        Partner No.   :  IEDHL
        Partner Type  :  LS
        Partner Role  :  LS
        Message Type  :  DESADV
        Tabs:                    Field:                 Value:
          Outbound Options         Receiver Port          DEV_XML  (Define with WE21)
                                   Transfer IDoc Immed.   (selected)
                                   Do not start subsys    (selected)
                                   Basic Type             DELVRY05
                                   Canc Proc after Err    (checked)
                                   Segm. Release in IDoc  700
          Message Control          Application            V2
                                   Message Type           ZAWB
                                   Process Code           DELV
          Perm. Agent              Type                   O         (or US)
                                   Agent                  50000079  (or your username)

  • Which user's info to store in session

    Hi all,
    I would like to ask you, in a classic scenario with user authentication and multi language support, which user related information is good to store in session scope and which not... (username, language iso code, TimeZone, other stuff...)
    Thank you

    Any user-specific data that is required by the application can go into session. But remember it occupies server memory and so be careful not to put large amount of data in session.

  • Lion home directories

    Hi all,
    A question I hope is quick to answer!
    We are upgrading the mac minis here to Lion and everything seems to be working fine (Even on our .local domain shock horror!) just a bit concerned about one thing though. The home directory (\\godric\students$\username) on SNOW LEOPARD is mounted as a "home" directory in the finder however it is not apparent on the Lion install. However the documents part of the lion screenshot below stores itself on the "document" folder in the users home directory so redirection is working.
    How can I make the home directory reappear?
    Cheers
    rcharris

    Yes. I went through the typical steps more than a dozen times. The sharepoints that I had created last year when using Snow Leopard work just fine. It is the sharepoint created using Lion that is not working properly. I can manually connect to the share point using the Lion created user with "Connect to Server".

  • BSP needs Portal Parameter

    Hi to all,
    I'm not very familar with Business Server Pages but I have the requirement to provide a BSP with parameter from the SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal (like username, language, iView-Id....). I'm not allowed to use Application Parameter or URL-parameter to send the data to the BSP.
    So my question is: How can I provide the BSP with parameter from the portal?
    Can I use Customer Exits for 'ParameterProvider' and put there some values into the current component or http session but how can I then read the values in the BSP?
    Or shall I use cookies? Other ideas?
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards
    Katharina

    Hi,
    You can use below steps...
    1.  Application Parameters for BSP iview in portal like below
    Application Parameters =
    userid=<User.LogonUid>&fname=<User.firstname>&lname=<User.lastname>&email=<User.email>
    And
    <User.displayname>
    <User.salutation>
    <User.firstname>
    <User.lastname>
    <User.jobtitle>
    <User.department>
    <User.telephone>
    <User.fax>
    <User.streetaddress>
    <User.zip>
    <User.city>
    <User.country>
    <User.timezone>
    <User.mobile>
    2. BSP application in R/3
      DATA: l_url_parameters        TYPE tihttpnvp,
                 l_url_userparameter    TYPE ihttpnvp.
      READ TABLE l_url_parameters WITH KEY name = 'USERID'
                                  INTO l_url_userparameter.
    Thnx!

  • Can't get past language selection with Leopard Install disk

    My 1 year old Intel Mac Mini, which had been running 10.5.4 without problems suddenly froze up. The mouse was still active but I couldn't click anything. I turned the system off with the power button. When I restarted it got as far as the login screen, but clicking the user didn't do anything. I was able to log in using safe mode (hold down shift when starting). I ran the disc utility, repaired permissions and verified the disc. Seemed OK, but still the same behavior (freeze at login screen) when I try to boot normally.
    I tried booting from the Leopard install disk. When it reached the language selection page there were some strange-looking horizontal lines in the display. Clicking the "proceed" button caused a copy of the button's graphic to appear at the top of the page and nothing else happened. Very puzzling, since I had upgraded OS X using that same disc.
    I have a Superduper backup from a couple of weeks ago. It won't boot up normally either. Any ideas? Unfortunately, I'm 2 weeks out of warranty!
    Thanks,
    jwstex

    I would probably start looking at the ram to see if it's worked loose or a board has gone bad (rare, but it happens).
    Make sure no external drives or other unnecessary connections.
    If the ram doesn't fix the problem, then you could also Zap the PRAM by holding down the Command + Option + P + R keys during boot up. Hold down the keys until the Mac goes through 3 startup chimes, then just release the keys and continue to boot normally. Check your clock settings if it boots.

  • Upgrade to Snow Leopard in another language

    Hi everybody,
    I'm in the painful process of trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard and then Mountain Lion (which i can buy online therefore no problems) from Leopard. I'm in Norway and i need to buy the Snow Leopard disc through the Norwegian Apple store online, or via telephone.
    As i have a UK Mac Book Pro and don't speak Norwegian i have a simple question. If i buy a copy of Snow Leopard, will it be in Norwegian (also with a Scandinavian keyboard setting) or i'll be able to choose the language during the installation process?
    Sorry for the silly question but i've never done an upgrade before and buying a copy on Amazon.co.uk or .com is much more expensive than Apple store here.
    Thanks for your help,
    Luca

    It will have all the usual languages included.

  • Finally support of other languages in forthcoming Leopard?

    Does anyone know if Leopard will finally support other languages than English as well? I want to buy my parents a Mac and VoiceOver would be perfect for them if only Mac OS X would support German.
    Leopard is said to have a new voice technology, but I could not find out if this is restricted to English again.
    Why is an important feature like this not localized? Does anyone know the background?

    Hello Thomas,
    I've had a lot of success with Macs running Tiger in French, with added voices from Infovox iVox. The easiest way to get these is to buy VisioVoice from Assistive Ware — the language packs are bundled and include American English, British English, American Spanish, Canadian French, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish.
    There might be odd problems with non-localised voice tags, but you can usually kludge these using the VoiceOver pronunciation dictionary—with care!
    Other voices are available from Cepstral. Listen to samples from both sites, and see what you prefer. I'm aware that buying extra voices is an additional cost, but compared to the cost of Windows screen readers, this is trifling.
    As for Leopard, it certainly promises full localisation not only of the OS but also of VoiceOver. I don't know what other languages may be delivered with machines or local distributions of Leopard for installation on existing kit, but third-party voices shouild work just fine.
    Don't hesitate! Go for it! You won't be sorry!

  • Leopard prompts for 802.1X username and password instead of WEP password

    hey!
    so i got leopard on friday and i haven't been able to connect to my wireless properly since.
    i have an old D-Link DI-624 (Revision B) router that i have protected with a WEP password. in tiger i never had any problems with this, but now instead of prompting me for a WEP password when i try to connect, leopard prompts me to enter username and password and below there is a dropdown entitled 802.1X with options automatic and TTLS-PAP.
    if i try to enter my WEP password as the password, the connection fails.
    i know that the issue is not the router because my girlfriend is still running tiger and has no issues.
    i ran that login and keychain update and that didn't help. i also deleted that old airport driver file that other people had mentioned for other airport issues and that didn't do anything either.
    any ideas??
    thanks!!

    I have this exact same problem.

  • Language Support in Leopard on top of Tiger

    Hello everyone.
    I have a MacBook with the Mac OS 10.4.10 in spanish....
    I want to purchase Leopard from Apple Online Store in the USA but I don't know if the copy they sell supports Spanish.... can I select the installation language?. Does the Installation programs recognize the language of the OS already installed in the computer?
    I have an Spanish OS and I don't want to damage the language.......
    Best regards

    I want to purchase Leopard from Apple Online Store in the USA but I don't know if the copy they sell supports Spanish.... I have an Spanish OS and I don't want to damage the language.......
    There is no "Spanish" version of OS X. All copies of OS X are the same and are multilingual. When you get a copy from the Apple store or anywhere else, you choose a language when you first install it and afterwards you can switch to Spanish or any of more than a dozen other languages in a few seconds by changing the system preferences. That goes for what you have now, and Leopard will certainly work the same way.

  • Lost all autofill usernames & password after migration & upgrade to leopard

    I recently got a new imac, migrated all my old info to the new machine, then upgraded to leopard. now safari has none of my previous usernames & passwords stored in autofill preferences. can i go back to my old machine and find a prefernce list or something to put on my new imac so i don't have to go refigure all my usermanes & passwords?
    i transferred from the old half-dome imac to a new 24" imac, which i LOVE!!

    Be sure to use software update to get the latest version of Leopard 10.5.1. Then, if the passwords still do not appear, try this:
    I found this answer on another discussion question.
    Open Utilities:Keychain Access
    Click on Passwords in left column
    Scroll down to "Safari Forms Autofill" and double-click
    Open access control window
    Click radio button that says "Allow all applications to access this item"
    Close window--you will be prompted for your password.
    Note: this works for other items in the password window.
