Users & Applications problem

HI!
I have a problem giving access privileges to the users over the applications and i really don't understand what's happening. I have 4 users in my domain and i attached them to a team called TeamAdmin with full access (System admin, primary admin and secondary admin) in the task profiles module and read & write rights over the applications in the member access file.
But when i try to run the connection wizard to update the applicationset, it says that user doesn't have any Applicationset avaliable.... Right now i'm running out of Ideas.
Maybe do you know a way to make it appear or maybe theres a file that I could modify to fix it?

I manage to discover something very interesting. I'm using an external domain and the bpc administrator is from that domain. When I try to give rights over the applicationsets to a user from that domain different from the administrator it doens't work, it says that there's no applicationset avaliable for that user, but when i try with a user created in the local machine domain it works perfectly.

Multiple users applications problem

Hello everyone, I have looked in past topics about mulitiple users issues but did not find the answer I am looking for.
I have created a new user account with admin privileges. I did that to ease my multiple .mac accounts with iweb and it works fine but I am annoyed that I have to hunt for the licences for each application that I open. If I have a registered application on the computer why do I have to reenter the licence code again to use it on the same computer?
Is there a way around it or a short cut to doing it as I have a lot of applications that I may want to use.

I don't know how unix-savvy are you.
Sometimes the apps create invisible files under ~/Library/Preferences, or they generate some strange file names.
To detect what the application stores in the Preferences folder, you can use the terminal and write:
ls -lRA ~/Library/Preferences
before giving the application its serial number, and then repeat the same command after the application has been satisfied.
Comparing the two listings will detect whatever files were written by the application.
Of course you can do it all with the unix commands:
before:
ls -lRA ~/Library/Preferences > ~/tbfr
after:
ls -lRA ~/Library/Preferences > ~/taft
and then compare:
diff ~/tbfr ~/taft

ISight - connects with windows users no problem?

I'd like to buy this webcam, but I heard it has problems connecting with windows users. Will I be able to talk to people on it through AIM? Thats what I'd like, if not, I probably wont get it. Anyone have any personal experience or have any answers or helpful tips - I'd appreciate anything - thanks.

It is not the iSight itself that gives you the impression that connecting with Micros~1 Windows users causes problems ... it is the availability of (cross platform) applications that makes connecting a bit more cumbersome.
I have PowerMac G5 with iSight and I connect with my Micros~1 Windows platform family equiped with and without USB webcam.
The challenge will be to find messaging / VoiP applications with bearable audio quality and reasonable video performance.
I started with Skype for Voice and Yahoo! messenger for bad video ( 1-2 fps and video size 320 x 240).
Skype has a video plugin (only for Windows)
Yahoo! Messenger does not have voice yet (2.5.3)
MSN is badmouthing because of the "M"
I have used iChat with another Apple believer ... and the quality of Voice and Video is unparralled.
The best two alternatives I found are:
a) AIM 5.9
b) Trillian (www.trillian.cc)
Both use a free AIM screen name.
AIM works fine, see also EZJim pages.
TrillianPro 3.1 reuses AIM screen names ... and ... it has both good audio and zoom-to-full-screen-video size with fps rates filling your bandwidth.
The only negative on Trillian so far, the "handshake" for connecting two people takes some time.
TrillianBase is free but has no Video capabilities. The Pro version is 25$.

App-V 5.0 SP2 user applications published via SCCM 2012 to VDI workstations with roaming only

The environment consists of App-V 5.0 SP2 (KB2956985) user based applications published via SCCM 2012 to Windows 7 VDI snapshotted workstations that are reset at user logoff.
When a user logs on the SCCM 2012 client initiates App-V client package publishing. After a couple of minutes after logon the shortcuts appear and the user can launch their applications.
The issue is that at logoff, even with roaming enabled, the publishing information disappears. This causes the next logon process for that user to repeat, the applications are not available until the SCCM client has completed it's publishing cycle.
Roaming profiles are implemented. %APPDATA% is redirected to a UNC path. The following registry key is set
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\PreserveUserIntegrationsOnLogin=1

I do not want to wait for the SCCM client to kick in prior to the user applications being available. What do I need to roam or run to create a seamless transition for the user between sessions?

Hi Tywin (bad username considering the last GoT Episode ;))
If you ask Microsoft, they always recommend using SCCM for deploying App-V packages and reuse your current SCCM infrastructure if that is already in place. Problem is, as you now experience, is that there is some big caveats both in regards to publishing
time and to roaming of settings.
As Nické states I would suggest looking into the Full Infrastructure Model for App-V 5.x, which gives you much better performance in what I call "from no apps" to "being able to click the shortcut" - the add and publishing phase. If you don't have the time/budget/whatever
to start looking into that, you could look into some community tools like App-V Scheduler which is developed specific by Citrix guys to ease the publishing and management in a Citrix world.
Microsoft have a great article about Performance Guidelines, which you have read, but it mostly presumes you work with Full Infrastructure. Have you looked into Steve Thomas' session from TechEd NA? It talks about "implementation trends".

My guess is, your third service object is not referenced.

BSP user verification problem.

We are facing a bsp user verification problem:
We put the bsp page into a web dynpro iframe,and it is showing well. But after several tests using several users,Some problems are shown: when we use "USERA" to logon Portal,when we turn to the bsp page,it is shown like using "USERB".
I do think SSO has no problem. We are using BW Portal.
Something should be edited about the bsp application?

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open. I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time,please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

I'm developing an application that could be deployed on multiple platforms. I'm looking for a location to store per-user configuration files in a OS-integrated way.
I use a utility class to determine the OS of the users machine. I know from experience that Windows NT5+ likes to store per-user settings/configurations in the %APPDATA% path (which is usually C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Roaming\<vendor>\<software> etc.) I'm using a call to the environment labels to determine it's location.
I'm a linux user myself, so I'm aware that most UNIX based Operating Systems like to store personal configurations in hidden folders in the user's home directory (ex /home/<username>/.<application> etc.), Obviously, I'm using a call to the system property user.home to determine that location.
My Question is in relation to Mac OS and Mac OS X, where would it be a safe location to store per-user configurations? I know OS X is BSD/UNIX based so is it safe to assume to store them as a hidden subfolder of the user.home directory? What about Mac OS classic? Where are per-user settings stored, or is it like Windows 9x and NT4 and lacks proper multi-user setups (although NT4 is somewhat more prepared then 9x) ?
It would be much appreciated if anybody has any ideas.

PS. I'm not using Javas Property files etc. I've rolled my own exchangeable format for storing key,value pairs.

I've used databases in the past to store local files but clients have sometimes run into trouble when the database daemon goes down or doesnt start-up normally because of a "improper" shutdown etc.
In my own implementation of "Settings Files" i have serialized hashtables marked with appropriate metadata stored to the users "application data", a backup or original copy of those settings in the common directory shared by my application framework and then in a networked enviroment, the Settings can be hosted on a database server, so the user can travel between client machines and keep their settings (and files) with them.
I have, with a bit of googling, come across the most obvious page i should have looked at in regards to Apple Mac OS X

According to Apple's guidlines, the most suitable place to store User configuration files is in the ~/Library/Application Support/<Application Name> directory.
and for System-wide configuration files, /Library/Application Support/<Application Name> rather then storing them with the application in the /Applications directory.

Multi user application control data access

Dear all,
i am using Oracle Developer Suite 10g and database 10g, windows xp plate form.
i want to develop multi user application regarding education.
i have two questions.
1. i take a start from creating an HR database which have 30 tables.
this database has 10 users.
the users will log on from their own schema.
how they will access the HR schema?
should i create a public synonym for each table in the HR Schema?
or should i create a view for each table in each user schema?
or should i grant select,insert,update etc to each user on HR schema?
2. i want to control the data access for each user.
i.e. every student could access his own academic record. each teacher access his own related record, the manager the owner and so on.
how to accompolish this task? oracle roles are not sufficient for this purpose.

Cluster and user application resource doubt.

Hi,
i've a 4 node Oracle Cluster 11.2.0.2, with some user applications resource (with relative shell for check, start and stop), about 3 per node.
Looking scriptagent_root.log of node 4, i see that scriptagent.bin execute some check of resource of node 2 but node 2 (and node 1) scriptagent.bin execute only check of local node.
Node 3 scriptagent.bin execute check of node 3 and node 4.
I think that cluster is messed up.
It's correct this situation? If no, which check i can perform?

in my test environment (2 node rac 11.2.0.2) i've created a custom cluster resource "test_res".
[grid@rac1 scriptagent_root]$ crsctl status res -t
test_res
1 ONLINE ONLINE rac1and root is the owner, so in /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/log/rac1/agent/crsd/scriptagent_root/scriptagent_root.log
there are these messages:

I think there might be information there on how to reset Time Machine to do a full backup. I think you basically have to reset it and start over.
