Users can't open their W-2's online

I work in a public library.  When patrons use our public computers to download their W-2's from an employer they get an error prompting them to download Adobe reader.  We had this problem with 9.4.  When we upgraded to Reader X it resolved some of the issues, but some patrons still can't open their W-2's.  It doesn't seem to be specific to one website.  When some

Hi,
I am not able to understand your issue completely. Please correct me if I am wring, but as far as I understand your problem, you are saying that even though you have Adobe Reader X installed on your system, you are still being prompted to download Adobe Reader? Could you share a screenshot of the error message your are receiving.
Also, you stated that you are not able to view PDFs inspite of having installed Adobe Reader X. Is the same happening for PDFs present on your local system or only for online PDFs?
Thanks in advance

  • Howto troubleshoot outlook connector. users can't open their calendar

    Hello
some companies that are our client cannot open their agenda when using outlook connector. if they use communications express (uwc) they can view it but not when accessing through the connector.
what could be the cause of this. I am really clueless. i have asked the sjoc.log to see if can see anything.
    thank you.

the actual problem is that an user can create events using outlook but his colleagues can't consult these events. it is a shared calendar and when using communications express/uwc they can access this data.
here is a excerpt of the sjoc.log that has errors

  • PC users can't open iMovie .m4v file

my son made a really cute movie in iMovie, and saved it as an iTunes file, which put it in the .m4v format. i emailed the .m4v file to all our family and friends ... and the PC users can't open the file. can i do something about this (ie. save it in a different format)? please explain it to me in real simple terms ... i am a Luddite. thanks!

can i do something about this (ie. save it in a different format)? please explain it to me in real simple terms ... i am a Luddite.
You could always point out that anyone whould really wants to watch it could download and install the free QT 7 Player in much the same way that many Mac users would have to download and install either a WMV Player or a WMV component for their QT Player.
You realize, of course, things will likely get worse once you start "customizing" your exports of each recipient? My Sister only wants WMV 9 ($50 for Microsoft "approved" bi-directional components), my brother-in-law "prefers" DivX 6 minimum ($20 for the components), my nieces are into YouTube (posted directly from iMovie '08 for the price of iLife '08) and want everything posted there, and my Aunt (whose computer is more than a decade old) only wants MPEG-1 (which I used to make with iVCD (don't remember what that used to cost or Ti Toast 9 at $80) and of course there is always Visual Hub (at just under $24) for all of the others who will settle for older AVI or WMV files. You can also try exporting some of the "less recent" or "older" codecs like MPEG-4/AAC, Sorenson Video, Sorenson 3 Video, H.263, Cinepak, etc. There are dozens of audio and video codecs that can be combined in in hundreds of combination and placed in various file containers but the problem is you will probably never find a single compression format that really satisfies everyone all of the time. So before anyone can "draw you a map," you will have to make a decision as to "down which road you wish to travel."

  • Hi! Windows 7 users can´t open the pdfs and jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. How shall I resolve the problem?

    Hi!
Prolems started after uploading the Lion in March. Now at least Windows 7 users can´t open any pdfs or jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. They can see that they are included but can´t open them. What can I do?

It's a bug in Outlook. Each version of Outlook has its own unique bug that prevents it form displaying email that didn't come from another Outlook user. Apple has attempted to dumb-down Mail and make it more complex in order to work around these issues, but Microsoft keeps changing the bugs in each version of Outlook instead of making an Internet Email standard compliant email client.
Are they able to right-click on the image and save it from the contextual menu?
Otherwise, make sure Send windows friendly, attachments at end of message are checked and send plain text.
Or, zip the attachments and send that way.
There is also a program called Attachment Tamer that many people have found useful.

I created a password secured page with 3 films for a jury to vote on. All PC users can't open the page. They do not get access to the server.

Is this a browser problem? Is there a problem with Internet Explorer?

  • Some users can't open DTS Packages

    Hi
I have installed SQL Server 2008R2 on Windows Server 2008R2.  When I installed SQL Server I installed the options that allow the designing/running of DTS Packages.  I am able to open/design/run these packages OK but some of my colleagues are not
    able to open the packages.
They are set up as domain/sys admins on the Windows/SQL server and log onto that server directly to manage the DTS packages.  When they attempt to open them they get the attached error message.
Do I need to install something under their user account in order for them to be able to open DTS Packages?
    Many thanks

    Hi flanjman,
According to your description, you created DTS packages and you are able to run the packages, other users can log on the server, but could not run the packages with the error: execution cannot continue as the language dependent resource file could not be
    loaded.
According to the error message, sqlsvc.rll file is missing. To workaround the problem, please refer to the following steps:
Created the "1033" directory under the "Resources" directory.
Copy all the files ".RLL" (SQLSVC.RLL, SQLGUI.RLL and SEMSFC.RLL) that existed to the "Resources" directory for this newly created directory ("1033").
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • User can't open a PDF created with Illustrator CS4

I'm creating a PDF in Illustrator CS4, and I save it on a server where the user can get it. User is not able to open the file, it says acces denied. When I email that same file to several users, they can open it without a problem. I have checked that there's no restrictions on accessibility on the folder or the file. I wonder if it has to do with windows user permissions...
Our IT guy couldn't find any problem ....
    Any clue?

  • Some users can't open Excel files. It is trying to open it in Internet Explorer "An error has occurred. Please try again."

I have some users in my company that can't open Excel files from any document libraries on SharePoint 2010. The receive the error message "An error occurred. Please try again."  We don't currently use the Excel calculations services. When
a user opens an excel file they are prompted to either Read Only or Edit.
This affects less than 5 people in a large company.  They have the Full Control permissions and have been able to open the files previously.  There has been no changes made to the server either.  I can't find anything that points to this in the
    event viewer.
It doesn't matter if which computer that they try to open this up from either.   All computers are Windows 7 Professional with IE 9 and Office 2010 x64.
I can't find anything that points specifically to this exact error. None of the excel files contain pivot tables.    This one has me stumped.

I would make sure no one has open on machine / locked on machine (Would assume you checked this, but wanted to add)
Also would have assumed you restarted the machines (:))
Make sure the file security did not change (check to ensure no one changed the sercuity of the excel)
Make sure the version of excel is the same (Changing from 2010 back to 2007 affects the file, etc.. on convert) that no one converted and saved thus causing error in file.
Can they open other excel files?
It sounds like the excel file it self has changed if you cannot see issue in SharePoint logs.
If it is all SharePoint excel files - try deleting one persons access and readding them to see if that helps.
    SharePoint has issues ;)

  • In domain environment standard users can't open .psd files

in domain environment with non admin users; getting this error: http://imageshack.com/a/img543/9085/cdnu.png
only administrators can open .psd files
what permissions needs a standard user to open .psd files?

did fw work previously to open psd files?  - no, only admin users can open psd files wiht fw or ps.
do you see that error with all psd files? - yes, all psd files give this error, no error given jpeg or png files
are those cs6 psd files? - yes.
what happens if you right click fw>click 'run as administrator'? - same error.
i have to give local administrator rights to users that they can work with psd files.

  • FF PDF viewer - Users can't open links in pdf documents

My website has a number of pdf pages, each of which has a linked button for "More detail". This works fine in IE and fine in Pale Moon and fine in CHrome and fine even in FF if FF is set to use the Adobe pdf viewer.
But if FF is using the built in viewer, the links don't work, either completely non-responsive, or go to the wrong address.
This issue has been bugging people for a few years, is it possible to get it fixed please? I am tired of dealing with frustrated users who can't open the linked files.
Example look here: http://canberrabirds.org.au/wp-content/BirdSummaryData/Australasian%20Bittern.pdf andclick on More Detail blue button at top.

Much appreciated. Can you explain what 'code in a more compatible way' means? I didn't produce these pdf pages, but was not aware that even in a pdf file a link could be anything more than a link. What instruction should I give the person who makes these pages?
    Thanks

    <blockquote>
I'm on Linux and that button doesn't work in other PDF viewers like Evince and Ocular as well.
So I assume that you will have to rebuild that PDF file and code that button in a more compatible way to make this work in viewers other than the Adobe Reader.

  • When I attach a document and send as an email, non apple users can not open it?

For my business I have to send invoices to customers, When I attach the invoice to an email non apple uses can not open the file? why is this.
I have tried to copy and paste the invoice to body of email and when they get it it appears as a question mark in a box?
    how can I fix this?

    Couple of thoughts.
When you have the Mail compose window up, there should be a row of icons along the top right side. One of these is a paperclip for attachments. Click it, and check the Send Windows-Friendly Attachments. This will help for non-Mac Mail recipients. Ultimately, it will be their email system, and how it is configured that will determine how their attachments arrive — not you.
Send your invoices as PDF, not Pages, or Word content. Since you don't mention your operating system or release of Pages, I will cover the bases here:
    Pages '09
One can use the Share menu to send a PDF via Mail. It does the export to PDF, opens Mail, and attaches the PDF. (Broken in Yosemite).
File ▸ Export ▸ PDF…, and then drag/drop the PDF into a Mail compose Window. If document size, right-click on it and choose View as Icon.
    Pages v5
On the right-side of the Toolbar, there is a Share icon. Choose Send a Copy > Email > PDF. This auto-attaches to a new Mail compose window.
File ▸ Export To ▸ PDF… . Same as Pages '09, second bullet.

  • Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory User can not change their password

Our AD domain already having two domain controllers with windows 2008 (not R2),  last week we added one more domain controler with windows 2008 R2 for that we run domain prep and forestprep. After this domain no  users can change their password by pressing ALT+CTRL+Del--Change password. Administrators can still reset the password, and if administrator provide the option change password and at next logon, it works, users can reset the password. But after login they can not.
The error telling the new password does not meet length, complexity, history requirements. We are sure their is no Group policy which setting password/account policy. And even we tried to attach a simple password policy domain level with out complexity.
Please provide a feedback..waiting for your response.
    Thanks

additional info: up to Server 2008 R2, Windows ONLY supports ONE Password policy PER Domain. (exept: the R2 supports more pw-policies, but not with gpo, it has to be congifured with ADSI-Editor)
So, in case you still use the 2008 / R2 - you Need to know that ;))
    regard..
    Stephan Ertel - MCITP/MCSA -
From Windows 2008(Non R2) and higher is supported for more than one password policy with fine granted password polcy.DFL should be 2008.

  • Some users can't open PDFs

    Hello
We have an issue with some users not being able to open or save PDFs.
This is only happing with a few users.
It happens through the browser AND through SharePoint views in our CRM (Dynamics), so not a browser issue.
They can open the document by using the contextual menu on the document.
They can't open it by clicking directly on the document link.
    Any ideas much appreciated!
    *UPDATE*
One user also can't open emails that have been uploaded.

First thing would be to update and repair Adobe Reader on the users affected.
Check which version of Reader they've got and compare it to yours/others whom got it working.
Disable addons/plugins (even if they're sharepoint related)

  • Users can't open form

I created a relatively simple one page form using LiveCycle 7.0 and distributed it to several people for testing. Those who work here and are on the same network can open the file and submit it, but those who are not on campus can't even open the file. Those who can't open the file have reported that the file either says it may be corrupt or it just quits after trying to open it for a little while. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I would upload the form to Acrobat.com, and then select the file, right mouse click the selected file and select the "Publish" option. You can then post or email the link for the users that need to access the form. They can then click the link and preview or download the form. They will have to download the form to be able to fill-in the form.
What OS and versions of Acrobat or Reader are your users using?
Apple preview does not allow full interaction with forms.
How was your form designed (Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer)?
LiveCycle Designed forms require Acrobat/Reader 5 updated or better.
Have you added extended Reader Rights to the form?
Users with Reader will need a form with Extended Rights to be able to save or email the completed form.

  • Can't change OWA settings so users can only enter their username

    Hi
I have a root domain and a child domain with full trust in between.  Exchange 2013 servers are installed on the child domain.  All our users are in the child domain and root domain is empty.
I want our users to enter ONLY their username to logon to OWA.
I go to EAC > servers > virtual directories > owa settings > authentication > "user name only".  HOWEVER when I click on "Browse" button to pick my domain it ONLY shows the root domain in the list.  The domain
that mailboxes are in and servers are in is missing from this list.  What gives?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Before we go further, I‘d like to confirm the detail named method of your root domain and child domain. For example, root domain is domain.com and child domain is a.domain.com
As far as I know, the logon domain property always automatically shows the default domain. Alternatively, we can depend on command to enable the authentication:
Set-OwaVirtualDirectory "owa (Default Web Site)" -LogonFormat Username -DefaultDomain domian.com
With the command above we set Exchange 2013 OWA to be user name only. Then restart IIS
for the changes to be effective
