Hope this is the right forum to ask this question - I get the above error message when trying to download the update of Adobe Flash Player on my Mac desk top. I have done this successfully before but not now. Have I accidentally changed a setting or something?

  • My iTunes opens in safe mode but when I try to sync my ipad? It says apple mobile device service could not be started because an unknown error occurred 1084

It says apple mobile device service could not be started because an unknown error occurred 1084

I figured it out on my own, and it was an odd fix. I added a password to my account in users, and then made Apple Mobile Device service log in through my account, and now it works.

  • I cannot download Firefox 4.0 it says cannot be open due to unknown error, so try saving to disk. Why and how do you save to disk when it just says "click here" for upgrade?

i have tried to download the newest version of Firefox and when i click on " click here" it downloads the version 4.0 then when it's finished a window flops down and says,
Download Error, users/sue/downloads/Firefox4.0-4.dmg could not be opened ,because an unknown error occured. Try safing to disk first and then opening the file. ok?"
so how do i save it to disk if i'm clicking on a "click here' word on the web page?

I totally agree, there have been many Mac users that have been effected by this.

  • I can not download the new version of Firefox. I keep getting a message that says "Firefox 5.0.1dmg could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred" HOW do I fix this?

Every time I try to download the new version it just says I can not download the new version of Firefox. I keep getting a message that says "Firefox 5.0.1dmg could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred - Try saving to disk first and then opening the file"

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • IPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (6)

    Hi everyone.
I have the latest version of iTunes, & after successfully uploading some cds to my iPod, decided to update my iPhone 3G as hadn't done so in weeks.
I keep getting íPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (6)'. After about five tries, including restarting the computer, I am still getting the same message. It's not a firewall problem either.
I don't have access to another PC, & was wondering if there is anything else I can try, or if anyone else is having this problem, before calling Apple support (it's 1am here so stressed knowing I have to wait 8 hrs to get an operator).
I'm looking at the black screen of my iPhone and feel sick at the thought I may have lost everything, and need to be contacted on this phone from 6am onwards. If anyone could offer any help/talk-throughs, I'd very much appreciate it.
    Thank you.

What OS are you running? If it's Windows 7 AND your computer has the Intel pm55 chipset there is a known bug in the BIOS. Get the latest BIOS from HP.
A few other things to check. Usually restore problems can be traced to USB problems on your computer. First charge the phone for at least 30 minutes. When you connect it use a USB port directly on your computer, not a hub, keyboard port, or monitor port. Also disconnect any USB devices that draw power, such as backup or CD drives that don't have their own power supply.
Verify that you have the latest version of iTunes (Help menu, Check for Updates).
If it still doesn't work completely remove iTunes, reboot, download a fresh copy, and install it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=en_US
Another thing to try is create a new user ID on your computer with admin privileges, log in to that user and try to restore again.
Don't give up hope; this can be fixed.

  • The iPad could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)

As a lot of people had last night the Apple servers were very busy with iPads and iPhones upgrading to iOS5... So I waited until this morning to upgrade.
iPhone 4 no issues at all and now using iOS5
iPad (version 1) backed up but not is coming up with the following error:
The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)
Typically error 1 isn't on the list and I can only find a handful of similar comments with no luck in fixing this.
The error appears when trying to restore the firmware and I have tried rebooting my mbp and iPad multiple times. I have even resorted to installing iTunes on my Windows 7 PC where I also get the same error.
Anyone had any luck in getting past this?

I am having this same problem. I haven't plugged my ipad into my computer in 6 months or so but some of the apps (like ABC shows) are now asking for the the iOS5 so I figured I needed to go ahead and get everything updated. I have an ipad1 16G, with wifi and Verizon 3G and am using itunes on a pc.  The cellular was turned off when I plugged it in, but the wifi was turned on. It is now stuck in an endless loop where it tells me that itunes has detected an ipad that needs system restore, but when i try to restore, it eventually comes back with an error that says "The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)."
I plugged in and updated my iPhone 4 and it updated no problem.
I see that all these notes about this problem are back from October and November of last year. I'm wondering if anyone has had it recently or if a solution has been identified?
It sounds like if I keep trying the restore over and over again like 100 times, it might eventually work?  I don't think it's fair for me to have to buy a new device since it was apple's update software that broke it.

  • Artwork for ..... could not be found. An unknown error occurred (-609).

I've installed both 7.5 and 7.6 and with either version for some reason I can no longer get the album artwork to any of my albums, when trying to get them the following message appears: Artwork for ..... could not be found. An unknown error occurred (-609). Any help how I can get the album artwork for my albums would be very much appreciated.

When all my songs were transfered to iTunes half of my songs have '!' to the left of them in a black circle. Is there anyway to delete them all at once or do I have to go through every second song and hit delete?
Try iTLU - iTunes Library Updater which if set up properly can remove all missing tracks from the library and add all new unlisted tracks from your media folders into the library. Running time seems to grow expoentially with the size of the libray - 34,000 drags, but 5,000 shouldn't be too bad.

  • The iTunes application could not be oppened. An unknown error occurred (-50

I am getting a "the iTunes application could not be oppened. An unknown error occurred (-50). All was fine untill I loaded the latest version this pm.
I am running Windows 7 Profesional on an IBM X201i.
I have tried repairing it - no luck. I installed it and selcetd repair again - no luck
    I de-installed and re-installed - no luck.
I removed all Apple software, rebooted and reloaded - no joy.
    Disables Bonjour, rebooted, no joy.
    Advice?

My suspicion is a damaged Apple Application Support. Although they're given for different messages, I'd try the 32 or 64 bit instructions from the following topic (depending on whether or not you're 32 bit or 64 bit ... there's instructions on how to determine which you are in the topic too):

  • The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)

I tried to update my iPad 2 (Wifi, 3G) to ios 5.1.1 over the air. I left it running at night because it said approximately 3 hours to download. In the morning it had the connect to itunes symbol (Basically in restore mode). I have tried restoring it and it runs well until it gets to restoring iPad firmware. It gets stuck here for maybe an hour and eventually says " The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1). I have tried it on three different computers running windows 7 and MAC OS but i get the same result. We dont have any apple stores or service centers in my country. It is a relatively brand new iPad as i have only had it for about a month, it has not been jailbroken or anything. So i really dont understand why this is the case. Apple doesnt seem to have any solution for this from what i have googled. Is there anyone who has succesfully overcome this problem. Please help. Apple you need to get your act together because it is soooooooooooo frustrating and you dont seem to be doing anything. I have wasted 3 days trying to get this thing to work and nothing.

FYI - This is an iPad user to user forum. Apple doesn't read the forum posts.
