Users steal ownership of Wiki Articles in Profile Activity -- Is this bug still happening?

Is anyone seeing this Wiki/Profile bug still happening (not just the results of how it happened last year):
Users steal ownership of Wiki Articles in Profile Activity
This is where the wrong person gets credit for the article (they were an editor but not the author) in the Profile Activity tab and thus, they get the Author points.
Still happening?
Meaning that the bug starts happening this year (and not just the issues with it last year).

Answer an interesting question?
Create a wiki article about it!

You have a macbook pro too (as noted), does this happen with yours? If apple changed things and it's normal, like as you stated that it was lite so you'd know you're computer is 'on' but I'd like to know for sure if that's what it's supposed to be doing. (nip it in the bud if there's a problem)
I know it isn't sleeping (not pulsing) but since the light is on (steady), it is something I noticed right away. For example, right now as I type this, with the MBP on my desk w/ the cinema display plugged in (w/ a keyboard) and the lid is closed on the MBP, the light is ON right now. Not pulsing, but a steady light. Doesn't seem like it should be, to me. (at least in my view)
Thanks for your reply Josh.

I only use IE8 as my browser but had mozilla firefox installed on computer too. For about a month now have been unable to share NY Times articles to facebook. When I click on "recommend to facebook" I get an error message in the status bar that mentions mozilla. I uninstalled mozilla firefox but this is still happening. • Aperture 3 embedded color profile bug still unsolved (worked in Ap 2)

RE: Aperture 3.x cannot display images with certain color profiles embedded. This bug was reported
on March 11, but is still unsolved and basically makes Aperture 3 unusable for my large collection
of scanned slides which have a special color profile embedded. Viewer and sometimes Browser turns
    either black or go haywire.
    What is it about:
When you scan slides with a scanner, you can generate a special color profile so that the image
looks good and you can then embed this profile in the scanned tiff and jpeg images. Most pro applications honor the embedded profile and display the image correctly. In our case, we
generated a special profile named Nikon-LS5000 (it was tested for correctness!):
    1) It worked fine in Aperture 2.x
    2) It never worked in Aperture 3.x
    3) It does not depend on the Operating System (i.e, the bug manifests itself in 10.6.2, 10.6.3 and now in 10.6.4)
    4) It is no question of a special Mac Model (the bug shows on iMacs, ibook profs, and iMacs 2010)
    5) It is irrelevant whether you start Aperture 3 in 32-bit or 64-bit mode
    6) It shows with jpegs or tiffs, no matter
    7) Preview.app or Photoshop CS4 display the images correctly!
    8) If one changes the embedded profile via PS CS4 to sRGB or ProPhoto, Aperture 3 works (but the
image then has radically different colors - so no solution!)
    9) The conclusion is that something affecting the processing of (some?) embedded color profiles has radically changed from Aperture 2 to Aperture 3.
I put a few jpegs with embedded color profiles and screenshots of how Aperture 3 behaves on the Picasa web:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/114939413495021552399/TestapertureBilder#
you are invited to download the jpeg- images and retry in your ownAperture 3 Library.
Maybe together we can find out what causes this bug which is very annoying for any
    serious photographer.

I have put the test material on another server - you can download a
zipped folder (Aperture3profilebug.zip) of all test images AND the color profile from
    https://depot.uni-konstanz.de/get/txau69
with any browser. (The problem was that the Picasa Software seems to strip the color profiles from
the test images, so I had to put them on another server. It will remain there until July 1).

  • Forum activity (answers and replies) doesnt get reflected in profile activity and points not counted

I see that some times the replies as well as answers marked doesnt get reflected in the profile activity.
Eg: One of my replies is marked as an answer (https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/0e47a7fa-c418-43ed-a12e-6cf53de39bf9/cannot-access-instance?forum=sqlsecurity)
. This answer doesnt show up in profile activity and points didnt get added. However, there are two votes for my replies in the same thread which are seen in the profile activity. The funny thing is there is another response which is also marked as answer
for this thread and it shows up in that persons profile.
I am noticing similar behavior with replies as well. Ie even if you reply to a post it doesnt show in activity and that question will not get updated as a recent post. If you see the last reply would be some one else who responded before me. If you open
the thread then you will see my post as well. If somebody responds to that thread then it will come up again as a recent thread. Still it wont get reflected in profile activity.
This has happened many times, though its not really an issue its little sad that marked answers are not getting reflected in profile activity and points added up.

    Hi,
The forums have been having problems for the past month or so. There's another thread here reporting the same sort of issue that you're experiencing:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3a645416-f2cc-49bc-bd97-701f06377efb/not-getting-points-for-the-marked-answers?forum=reportabug
The best way to report this issue to the forums team is by sending an email to fissues (at) microsoft [dot] com. They're definitely aware that there are multiple problems going on, but it certainly can't hurt to send in another notice.

  • Impact on roaming profile accounts if we Change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts

I want to understand if we change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts, then what would be the impact on existing profile. Whether we need to change it manualy or it will connect to same profiles in terminal
    session.
As i observed it create new profile after logon name changed to employee number where existing users profile settings get fails to load and prompt for new settings (such as outlook reconfiguration, share drive mapping etc.).
Kindly let me know the proper process to overcome with this, how to connect same existing roaming profile with employee number format change.

    Hi,
What if we change the user name of user account, will it have impact on roaming profiles.
Yes, it will affect roaming profiles. Please rename the roaming profile folder as the new user account name, in addition, change the profile path in ADUC.

  • Details of all Technet Wiki Article must be displayed

    Hello.
For a  user who has created multiple Technet Wiki articles and just opens one of his created Technet Wiki articles ,his other created articles are not listed anywhere on the page.IMO ,like in Technet Gallery, creators all article must be listed
somewhere on the page.It would allow creator as well as person looking for help to see other articles .
Does this idea sounds logical ? Can we have this
Please mark this reply as the answer or vote as helpful, as appropriate, to make it useful for other readers

Add my name to tag... OK, that is good idea... strange solution, but might help the author (and other as well) to find his own articles. But this can't be THE solution but a secondary (or temporary) solution. It is
much simpler to add a searching page with advance options like search all the article's of user XXX... an this should not come instead of adding the list in the user profile.

  • Cannot Create New Wiki Articles

For some reason, we are no longer able to create or edit new wiki articles on our server. We can create and edit blogs.
The server currently is the Directory Master, we've tried stopping and restarting web service, rebooting the machine, etc.
It is recognizing the directory user group, since only employees in the group (not customers) are allowed to view the articles on the site.
The error received when attempting to create a new article is:
Error from server: Problem creating the page: <type 'exceptions.OSError'> (13)

Apple helped out on this one.!
So, we were not able to create new entries in old (existing) groups... Talking with support we were able to create a new group, and that new group could create new entries.
SO it turns out to be a permission error. Using Sever Admin I copied the permissions from the new group and replicated those permissions down through all the other groups and lo and behold everything worked.
hope that anyone who runs into this <exceptions.OSError> 13 with server 10.6 finds this helpful

  • Trying to submit a wiki article but getting an error

I have tried two times today to submit a wiki article but each time I see the following message:
Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!
Is the site currently down for maintenance? As well, how will I know if my article is being saved or not?
Any help you can provide is appreciated.
    Ken

With that error message I don't think your article got saved. Today's activity seems normal for a Sunday, so there doesn't seem to be an outage. But sometimes our work is not saved and we need to save again. You should try again.
I cannot find any articles by you today. Usually when you save you can see the activity in two places. First, it should show on the main Wiki page that lists recent activity. Second, it should show in your profile on the activity tab. It is possible for
the article to get saved and not show up in these two places, but your error message indicates it did not get saved.
When I publish new articles I include my own personal tag, so I can quickly find my articles. You can do a tag search for all articles with any given tag. That is the most reliable way to be tell if the article exists. The tag I use is "rlmueller".
On the main Wiki page I add to the url to do a tag search, so the url becomes as follows:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/tags/rlmueller/default.aspx
This finds all articles with my tag. You can do similar, just substitute your own unique tag.

  • Restrict witch users can login at wiki

    Hello
can anyone tell me if I can restrict users on the server to login at the WiKi, I'm thinking from a security aspect that it would be nice to only have a group or selected users on the server that can login on the wiki service...

    Hi Mark,
This is by design. When a user logs in to SharePoint, SharePoint checks to see if this user has permissions in the current site (or list/item). If the user has permissions, he can log in to SharePoint, it doesn't matter if he has a user profile or not.
I think the user has permissions on the site he is trying to access. These can be permissions given to him directly, or he is member of a AD security group that allows him to access the site.
You can check this by going to Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Permissions. In the ribbon, click "Check Permissions". Enter the username for that user and you can see how the user is given permissions to the site.

  • Users are unable to see their own profile photo although everyone else can see it in Lync 2013 client

We have Lync 2013, Exchange 2010 and several AD
    servers in mixed mode 2003/2008.
All user are unable to see their own profile photo
either in the main Lync window, in the settings or in a chat although other user can see that their photo is there and displaying. The user experiencing the issue can go open Outlook 2013 client and will see their photo displaying correctly in the file menu
    (and elsewhere) here.
I have confirmed this happens with any new users I set up as well. We have gone through a fair amount of troubleshooting with other Lync photo issues and simple fixes such as deleting the SIP cache folder etc proves to be ineffective.
Our Cs-ClientPolicy Global is set to websearchonly.
We have "Replicate this attribute to the Global Catalog" set
for the ThumbnailPhoto attribute in AD.
We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:
    "Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity PhotosControl -DisplayPhoto
    PhotosFromADOnly"
and finally we are importing the photo in ad using this PS command:
    "Import-RecipientDataProperty -Identity "Test User"
-Picture -FileData ([Byte[]]$(Get-Content -Path "C:\pictures\testuser.jpg" -Encoding Byte -ReadCount 0))"
The pictures being uploaded are under 10KB in size.
I have followed many threads and will provide any information I can to help find the problem. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I have also tried the following but with no success: https://knowledge.zomers.eu/misc/Pages/How-to-fix-your-photo-not-showing-up-in-the-Lync-client.aspx

    Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • I need to disable profiles being created in C:/Documents and Settings/[Current User], or I need to move where these are created, move them to somewhere else on the C:/ not under a person's profile. Is this possible?

I'm trying to package Firefox 5.0.1 for people who have limited space on their profiles. When Firefox is installed and opened, it creates files in C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and apparently this data (even though it's only 10MB) is too much for some people's profiles.
Is there a way to move where this is created? They don't mind if none of the information such as bookmarks follows them. I need to know if it's possible to move the files elsewhere on the C:\ so that it's not stored inside a users profile folder.

Open your profile folder Help menu (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting information and click the show folder button.
    Close Thunderbird
Delete the file foldertree.json and restart Thunderbird.

  • Wiki article on kernel hardening and setcap framework

    Hi guys,
I ran into the gdb ptrace problem detailed all over the web and in this Arch bug report. I noticed there were two solutions: one system-wide and one per application you'd want to give permissions to.
I would guess the latter (i.e. setcap) is the "better" solution, as it is more localized, but I can't find any documentation on what it actually does and how I can view my setcap'ed things. What I'm really saying is that setcap use is spread over the Wiki, but nowhere is really explained what it is, why it is necessary, and how one would generally use it. Could someone with the necessary knowledge perhaps write up a small wiki page about it so that this page can get linked to from various articles (nginx/gdb/...)?
I don't want to be presumptuous about asking for documentation, but I really believe clearing this out will help future generations.
    Thanks!

A small intro is already in the wiki: Capabilities

  • FVWM wiki article

    Hi there,
I saw in the in the wiki Beginners Guide, that there was several lines about fvwm, but nowhere else. So I thought it would be nice to create a good wiki article about it. Actually, I have started it - FVWM.
Feel free to edit and express your opinion about it. It would be nice to have a good help for newbies. And yes, I know, that man pages are very good and will answer most of the questions (if not all). But still, the information ammount is too vast for the mind of newbie.

    ThomasAdam wrote:
sokuban wrote:One thing I think you should add is documentation on the extra features in the patched version.
I don't think so -- it's completely peripheral to FVWM per se.
I don't see the harm in it. He said that the man pages are vast etc, and I was thinking about information that wouldn't be in the man pages, add on to the fact that it is fairly Arch-specific (or so I thought), so it should deserve a place in the Arch wiki.
The wiki page also shows how to install the patched version, it isn't completely ignoring it. I'm sure a lot of people would see that and wonder what the patched version has to offer.

Well, I have no clue where the updated patch documentation is (does it exist?). I'm talking about this: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=7195
and in the description/comments it shows those sites. Not sure if this is the same as the Genpoo (Gentoo?) ebuild you are talking about.
