UserTransaction lookup from servlet

Hi all,
I want to get the UserTransaction in my Servlet using JNDI lookup.
How do I get the UserTransaction?? I am unable to lookup the UserTransaction.
My servlet is the part of same application.
My code will look like this...
     UserTransaction userTransaction
               = (javax.transaction.UserTransaction)ic.lookup(txName);
     userTransaction.begin();
          some data base operations
          put message in JMS Queue
     userTransaction.commit()/rollback();
When I tried to get the Transaction as under...
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
String txName = "java:comp/UserTransaction";
UserTransaction tx = (javax.transaction.UserTransaction)ic.lookup(txName);
It gave me the following error..
javax.naming.NamingException: com.evermind.server.ApplicationInitialContextFactory should only be used inside Orion server environments.

When I tried to pass the properties and get the UserTransaction as under
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://localhost:23791/SENTHIL");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
env.put("dedicated.connection","true");
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(env);
String txName = "java:comp/UserTransaction";
UserTransaction tx
= (javax.transaction.UserTransaction)ic.lookup(txName);
It gave me the following error.

It gave me the following error.

Can any one tell me where I am going wrong?
http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/904/collateral/oc4j-faq-ejb-904.html#transaction
The document in the above url says...
You cannot perform a client-demarcated transaction (begin .. method ... commit) if the client is not in the same OC4J instance. If the client is running in a
different Java virtual machine, then OC4J doesn't support client demarcated transactions. If you use a servlet and demarcate a client transaction, then the
corresponding EJB must exist in the same OC4J application.
Thanks in advance,
Senthil

How do you create IntitialContext in the servlet? I would suggest you try
          Context ctx = new InitialContext();

  • Code Sample: Easy RFC Lookup From XSLT Mappings Using a Java Helper Class

    Hi everyone,
    This is just a shameless plug for my article: <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/05a3d62e-0a01-0010-14bc-adc8efd4ee14">Easy RFC Lookup From XSLT Mappings Using a Java Helper Class</a>. I hope you're interested in reading it, and I welcome your comments in this thread.
    Kind regards,
    Thorsten

    Hi Stefan. Thanks for your post. I have already done that. It still does not work. As a base for my java helper class I have usesd Thorstens code.
    The problem is quite confusing. I will try to ouline both issues here.
    First of all, when try to test from within the Operation Mapping, I always get a java error saying it cannot find the communication channel (it is there and working because I have tested it with the RFCLookup in graphical mapping). I have found a way to work around this, and that is to uncheck the "Use SAP XMLToolkit" checkbox --> switch to test tab, enter my ReceiverService in the parameter tab (header parameter) --> switch back to Definition tab, check the "Use SAP XMLToolkit" checkbox --> switch to Test tab and run the test. Then the XSLT and call to java helper class will work. Of course this is not really something you want to do all the time. Maybe there is a bug.
    Secondly, it never works when I try to do it "live". I am using a file adapter to pick up one file, convert it and a file adapter to drop the converted file. I get the following error code in SXMB_MONI.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    <!--  Request Message Mapping   -->

      </SAP:Error>
    Using an XSLT without a call to a java helper class, works just fine.
    I am totally at a loss here. Any more input would be much appreciated.

    The ejb spec only defines local ejb access within the same application. It's possible some app servers support access from a different application but it wouldn't be portable, nor would it work within the J2EE SDK or Sun Java System App Servers. To access a local ejb from a web component or ejb , define an ejb-local-ref in the client component's standard .xml file (web.xml or ejb-jar.xml) and use the ejb-link element to specify the ejb-name of the target ejb.

  • Pass data from servlet to EJB3 and backward

    Hello All,
    The distributed application is being developed by the following scheme:
    J2EE Application Server (JBoss) - Servlet container (JBoss's contained Tomcat) - RIA client (Flex)
    Application server needs to handle client's requests and provide backward connectivity also.
    Servlets in this scheme are required by the BlazeDS library which is implemented as set of servlets handling HTTP requests from the clients.
    This forces us to:
    - invoke EJB from the servlet while handling client's requests.
    - invoke servlet from EJB for the sake of providing the client with urgent messages which need to be displayed immediately.
    The easiest ways to achieve that I am aware of are:
    - servlet invokes EJB via JNDI lookup (inefficient?)
    - EJB invokes servlet by passing HTTP request to web server (inefficient!)
    Is there standard and efficient ways to wire servlets(JSP) and EJB in either directions?
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    Hi Chicon,
    Thanks for advice. Probably I need to add few more words to make the question clearer.
    Chicon wrote:
    It is not the role of an EJB to fire a servlet. EJB's are only modules.
    In your case, the EJB invoked should pass the necessary data to the servlet. From the data it receives, the servlet has either to build and to send the HTML document(or other formats : pdf, txt, xml,...) or to fire the appropriate JSP to the client. The servlet may also call a more specific servlet to do the job, e.g. in a Struts like framework.- Invocation of EJB from servlet is one data flow direction. After EJB is invoked and finished, servlet gets results, makes its own job and sends data to clients either in html or binary AMF (Flex proprietary) format.
    - Invokation of servlet from EJB is another data flow direction. It will be employed, when server decides to inform all interested clients about an urgent event. Client are not asking for that event explicitly, but they are ready for handling such messages from the server.
    Of course, in order to achieve this, there is a need in a channel between server and each client. This is what BlazeDS for.
    The first requirement could be satisfied by either JNDI lookup or (as malrawi proposed) by dependency injection.
    The second one is a little bit harder... It may involve any other mediators, not necessarily the same servlets.
    I am looking for the best suitable solution now.
    Thanks,
    Alex.

    Hi,
    You have to handle the result event of the HTTPService
    component. In the result handler you will have access to the
    ResultEvent object which will contain the response from the server
    in the "result" property. Please visit the URL below for more
    details on how to handle result from the server.

    Any help on this.Thanks Shank

    Hi
    I was using the session bean.Your suggestion helped me a lot.Perfect.
    I debug my program and found that from ejbCreate()exception is getting.
    I was getting the datasource object thro ejb create() initialisation.
    Somehow the look up jndi which i mentioned was not interpretting from ejb-jar.xml ias-ejb-jar.xml and datasource ref .Due to this iam getting jndi Namenotfound exception which in turns to null pointer as datasource is getting null.
    when i hardcoded in the ejb the the jndi name for datasource it is working fine.Bit worried all the existing ejbs working with the xml referenced datasource and jndi,but when i added a new ejb with same properties it is failing to get the jndi name.
    Piece of code from ias-ejb-jar.xml

  • Error message from servlet to jsp

    Hi again,
    I have servlet and check error on this servlet then i would like
    to send error message to jsp page.Every error message will send to
    same JSP page.So JSP must receive message from Servlet.Can i do this?
    Please give me details and some sourcecode.I will appreciate for your helps.

    you could do something like this..
    request.setAttribute("error", stringErrormessage);
    Then in the jsp just do
    <%= request.getAttribute("error") %>
    That will print an errormessage.
    Basically, by setting anything on the request and then redirecting to that page you cn display it...

  • Java RFC lookup from XSLT mapping

    I tried to implement a generic Java RFC Lookup class to be called as a Java extension from my XSLT mapping. I found the How-To-Guide "Easy RFC lookup from XSLT mappings using a Java helper class" ([Easy RFC lookup pdf site|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/05a3d62e-0a01-0010-14bc-adc8efd4ee14?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]) and tailored the source code to my XSLT program.  I am getting the error "Variable '$inputparam' has not been bound to a value".  Can anyone tell me what I am missing?  I am not familiar with java at all, and only moderately familiar with XSLT.

    > I am getting the error "Variable '$inputparam' has not been bound to a value". Can anyone tell me what I am missing?
    At runtime the variable does not get value.  You need to assign value to the variable inputparam. Just curious why dont use the RFC lookup graphical  which is very easy and no need to handle java programming. You need to configure just reciever RFC communication channel.

  • Problem to connect to mysql from servlet using a javabean

    Hi,
    I'm new here and beginner on java to.
    I have problem to connect to MySql database, by a connection javabean.
    It's the following: a HTML page calls a servlet and this servlet imports the package connection javabean.
    It has no problem when I establish the connection inside the servlet, with all its methods (public and private). But i want to separate the code connection from servlet.
    Detail: there is no problem, using the javabean to connect to MS Access database.
    I put "mysql-connector-java-3.1.12-bin.jar" file inside WEB-INF/lib application and common/lib directories.
    I set the classpath:
    SET CLASSPATH=%CATALINA_HOME%\COMMON\LIB\mysql-connector-java-3.1.12-bin.jar;%CLASSPATH%
    I think that the servlet cannot create an instance of javabean, because passed by catch exception of the servlet init method.
    But I don't know why.
    Please Why?
    Below there are the fragment of errors, servlet code e javabean code.
    Thank you.

  • Can we test RFC lookup from IR?

    Hi All,
    Can we test RFC Lookup from IR-Message mapping? If yes How?
    Like we can test Graphical mapping in test tab of Message Mapping.
    Regards

    Hi Sarvesh,
    got it...
    But when I am displaying queue.
    I am getting POPUP window saying -->
        Problem When Displaying Queue
         Cannot perform RFC lookup
    Can you please guide how to resolve this?
    Since RFC Lookup in run time uses Receiver RFC adapter.
    I tested RFC adapter is configured properly.

  • How to send a message from Servlet to JSP

    Dear all,
    I have JSP, with JavaScript (AJAX). If the user click on the button, the text will be sent to a Servlet parsed by doGet() and the user get a response to his input, without reloading a page.
    How can I send a message to the users (JSP) from Servlet, if he didn't clicked any button and to other visitor of the page also? Is it possible? I think like a chat, the server sends a message to all users who are subscribed.
    I don't know, what should I get from user, maybe session, that I could send him personal or common messages in his textarea. I should also invoke some JavaScript function to update his page. I have met some chats, you don't do nothing and get messages. It is also without a JavaScript timer, which invokes doGet() method. Asynchronous, only when there is a message.
    Please help me with a problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hai ,
    You can send any message through response.sendRedirect();
    here is the coding try it
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class SimpleCounter extends HttpServlet {
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
    throws ServletException, IOException {
    res.setContentType("text/plain");
    PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
    String username="java";
    res.sendRedirect("http://localhost:8080/yourprojectname/jspfile.jsp?username="+username);
