Uses incorrect from address

Using Thunderbird mailer on laptop with M1217nfw wireless hp printer.
Eprint is picking up the "received from" field from the header file instead of the "From" address hence it will not print the attachments being sent. As you know the received from field is a long list of all the hops the messages take thru the network.
How can I get Eprint to use the From address for security comparison?

The thing is the ePrint spam filters don't just read the from section to check for spam, it also checks the suject line, so, if there are forward or reply tags in the subject line, ePrint see the message as spam.  You'll need to remove all those tags before the messages will get through.

  • Javamail using incorrect FROM (return) address

Hi, we implemented a fancy DNS delegation scheme and now our java apps are sending out emails with FROM addresses that are confusing our users.
Basically it looks like javamail is looking up the from address and deriving it from the delegated A record canonical name - we want the FROM (return) addresses to be something else.
Anyone know how this is done?
    thanks

I compiled up the sample from http://www.vipan.com/htdocs/javamail.html and ran it alongside the misbehaving app and I can not reproduce the issue with the sample code..
One difference I noticed in the developers "problem" code it calls her sendEmail()
routine via a wrapper Emailer( ):
    new Emailer("mymail.stanford.edu").sendEmail(to, from, subject, body);
And the props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpHost); call is outside the

  • SAPConnect :: FAX uses wrong FROM address

    Hi guys,
We've successfully upgrade our old 4.6C system to SAP ECC6.
We still have a minor issue with sending faxes.
We've installed a Hylafax-server which will send the faxes using a modem.
On this Hylafax server, a mail relay server is installed as well.
Basically SAP (SAPConnect using communicationmethod FAX) will send an email to the Hylafax server with a PDF attached. This email will be received by the mail server and hylafax will fax the PDF attachment.
Hylafax will then send an email back to the address shown in the "FROM" field of the email to indicate whether the fax was sent successfully or not.
Now... everything works perfect, except SAP always sends the email to the fax server with "from" address "0000000000000000@<domain>" instead of the SAP user's emailaddres filled in using SU01.
The weird thing is that we tested this before the upgrade on a test SAP server, and it worked on the test machine..
Also, on the same SMTP node, using communication method "INT (internet)" it works perfectly.
But using communication method "FAX", this problem occurs.
Does anyone has any suggestions on what could be the problem?
At this oment I'm running out of ideas.
    Many thanks in advance.

    We have faced same/similar problem.
We use SAPConnect SMTP for fax. Faxes geet forwarded as SMTP mails to a fax service provider, and gets faxed from there. SAPConnect picks user's email address from user master as "Sender" address. It is working perfectly fine in R/3 4.7 production environment.
We upgraded the system to ERP 6.0 EHP4 on a sandbox server. Now the SAPConnect behavior changed. Instead of using the email address from the user master SAPConnect picks the Fax Number from the usermaster and forms the sender address as "Fax=+faxnumber@defaultdomain". Now our Fax service provider cannot recognize the sender, and rejects/drops it.
WORKAROUND: One workaround that we found was to delete the fax number from the user master. Now SAPConnect falls back to email address from user master. (SAPConnect trace shows "Sender address for communication method FAX not found",  "Use e-mail address for sender").
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
On my iPhone I've set up gmail as an Exchange accout and when I send an e-mail, my from address appears to be the one I select as default address in gmail preferences.
Is there any way to achieve this in Mac OSX Lion's mail application?

  • Multiple POP/SMTP Accounts Bug - Mail uses wrong 'from' address

I've be scratching my head over this but can't see anything else wrong so I figure it must be a bug with Mail 4.2:
I have multiple POP3/SMTP accounts configured, lets say:
[email protected], to receive on pop.blah1.com and send on smtp.blah1.com
[email protected], to receive on pop.blah2.com and send on smtp.blah2.com
If I create emails sourced from [email protected], they are sent just fine.
However if I try to email from [email protected], I get a pop-up telling me that smtp.blah2.com is offline and I need to select another SMTP server.
I checked the server settings a hundred times over and also resorted to telnetting to port 25 of blah2.com to ensure it was full working (yes it was!).
[Even Connection Doctor thinks the servers are all good]
So next I try telling emails sourced from [email protected] to send via smtp.blah1.com - Eureka, it works!
But this is a little odd - so I check the received email headers and compare these with the 'Sent' header.
It appears that mail thinks its sending the email from [email protected] but the email actually ends up being sourced from [email protected]!
So I can only presume that Mail is marking the smtp.blah2.com server as down because it is trying to use the wrong source address when sending a message and therefore being refused by the SMTP relay.
    Has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks chaps,
The other accounts are direct POP3/SMTP to my hosted servers - they are not passing through GMail and so it couldn't cause the issue.
I have, however, found the problem inadvertently while trying to run a comparison with Thunderbird - the good news is, its not Mail as such, though it does raise a couple of other questions...
Basically, whichever SMTP server is running on my hosted servers, it does not allow a message with no text in the body, while Google's SMTP implementation clearly does.
As my test messages only had a subject line, they were failing on my servers but working OK with GMail.
    The questions therefore are:
    1. Shouldn't Mail pad an empty message to ensure it goes (MS Outlook works fine with empty messages but interestingly Thunderbird also doesn't)
    2. Even assuming its OK to use GMail's SMTP as a relay, shouldn't Mail use the correct source address rather than making it look like the emails came from my GMail account?
    - I'm not sure if this is 'allowed' with modern SMTP from a security perspective but I think that some services support it.
    Thanks for all your input!

  • VM Manager 3.1.1 discover server job uses incorrect IP Address

I have sucessfully discovered 3 servers with IP Addresses (10.45.232.10 - ovs1, 10.45.232.11 - ovs2, 10.45.232.12 - ovs3), created repositories, created and run virtual machines without any issues. However when I try to discover a fourth server 10.45.232.13 - ovs4, the job that is launched says that is is using IP address 10.45.232.11 which is the address of ovs2.
The job completes sucessfully but instead of discovering a fourth server (ovs4), it just moves the second server (ovs2) to the unassigned servers folder. However when you examine ovs2 the IP address has changed to that of the fourth server that I tried to discover. The console on ovs4 now says that it is managed.
So the VM Manager gets confused over the identity of the server it has just discovered, mixing up parts of two different servers.
I'm running VM Manager 3.1.1 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5 and VM Server 3.1.1. The manager is a production install on 11g database.
Anyone seen this issue before or could suggest a workaround.

    Never seen this happen before.....
I'd say its something simple.... Like you've setup multiple network definitions and you have a overlap somewhere that has ovs2 in multiple definitions with different IP addresses. I don't know how this could happen but I imagine it is possible. Do you have any bonds setup besides bond0?
Check the MAC addresses of ovs2 and ovs4.

  • Mac Mail Uses wrong "from:" Address .... ouch!

I have multiple e-mail accounts set up on Mac mail.  Each email account has it's own SMTP server defined.  The "use only this SMTP server" is checked on all the accounts.
Today I sent an email from one account ... let's call it [email protected]
The outbound server was set properly.
The mail was sent, and appears on the outbox for [email protected]  Just like normal.
I got a reply back from the person I sent the e-mail to, and the reply shows that my e-mail originated from a DIFFERENT account.  Let's call it [email protected]
The e-mail I sent originally does NOT show up in the Sent e-mail box for [email protected]  It shows up in the Sent e-mail box for [email protected] where it should.
So ... it looks like  Apple Mail sent an e-mail from the wrong account, using the wrong SMTP server.  The mail program obviously doesn't konw what SMTP account to send mail from.
    Wow.
    I'm shocked.
    This is beyond lame.

Follow up to my own question.  I do see others have had this problem:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2253932?tstart=0
It makes no sense whatsoever for Apple Mail to "fall back" to an SMTP server that is not assigned to a particular account.  It's far better for the SMTP connection to fail and NOT send the e-mail from the wrong account, instead of confusing all the people I send e-mails to.
This SMTP fallback "feature" ***** and should be gotten rid of.

  • Send using diffeernent from addresses in Mail

Hi, have asked around and everyone seems to be scratching their heads on this so thought I'd fire an email off to someone who might know!
    For a long time I have been forwarding different emails to my gmail account as a sort of catch-all, and in Mail on my Mac setting up the gmail IMAP account by writing the addresses in the relevant field as such;
    [email protected], [email protected]
and so on. This gives me a drop-down menu when replying or writing a message in Mail to choose which address to send from.
My question is how, or indeed if, this is possible on the iPhone. I have the gmail IMAP setup fine, but I cannot type a comma in the account address field and so this functionality is not there. Unless I am mistaken?
    Hopefully that made sense!

  • Strange Webmail "From" address includes www

I don't know if this is a bug in squirrel mail or the result of something I set up wrong. Here is the deal. OS X Server 10.5. running mail and web services. I've also enabled webmail. When the users use the webmail feature, their mail arrives at the destination with a from address that looks like this....
[email protected] (note the www after the @ sign)
Of course, people who simply hit reply are getting an error that the email address is invalid. If this has happened to you, do this...
    1. Log into your webmail.
    2. Click the link for Options.
    3. Click the link for Personal Information.
    4. Click the link for Edit Advanced Identities.
Note the incorrect "From" address sits here and can be changed. I do not know where this information was pulled from originally. I had never been to this screen before. But there it is.

I have not fixe this yet but I now know the choice of browser/platform does not make a difference. It works for some computers and not others.
I briefly played with wireshark and the client browser always gets stuck after a second NAK from the server right after the SSL handshake. For the computers that it works there is a third NAK ( and the rest of the requests)
If anyone can tell what the problem is by looking at wireshark dumps I'll make the effort of installing it on the server and will provide them if of any help

  • Hi, incorrect previously used e-mail address suggestions keep appearing in my Yahoo! ID box when signing in & I can't get rid of them.

Hi, incorrect previously used e-mail address suggestions keep appearing in my Yahoo! ID box when signing in. I can't get rid of them. I've tried clearing the cache and cookies. I couldn't find an option to clear private data, don't know if that would work. My Yahoo password is not saved and my password is not the problem. I just want to know how to delete previously used emails from logging in suggestions so they stop appearing, hope you can help, cheeeers - Dave.

Thanks very much for the response Sandee. I tried your suggestion of the  Annotation option and this worked! - wonderful.. altho this test now works for me I'd still love to get it working from InDesign.
What I'm trying to achieve... my client had 5 powerpoint presentations that need updating with new branding (totally about 160 pages - with about 20 basic animations - i.e. flashing lights on products etc).
I sold him on the idea of using InDesign/PDF rather than powerpoint - but am needing to find an easy solution for the animations. So I've been working on this test file. Have self taught myself on a basic flash animation (from Lynda.com)... and tried importing both SWF and QT .MOV into InDesign and then exporting to PDF and when it loaded up in Acrobat it would always "unexpectedly quit" upon opening... even after trying different versions of PDF compatibility and restarting etc.
Is there something obvious that I'm not doing right?
Also if I get it to work, does that mean that my client and all their staff around the world will need to be Acrobat Reader 9?
Thanks again for your time and help

  • Messages from address is incorrect

I'm using Messages, Mac OSx 10.8.2.
Love Messages, but I think I found a bug.  When I type in the recipient's name in the "To" box, the from address at the bottom is incorrect.  And I can't figure out how to fix it.
    Here's some repo steps:
    1. set up multiple accounts for yourself - one for GMail Jabber, one for Google Talk, and one for iCloud.
    2. Start Messages
    3. Compose a new message, and type a recipient's name.
    4. Observe in the message box at the bottom (where you type your messages), it says something like "Jabber (from [email protected])".
    5. The from address (in this case [email protected]), is incorrect and cannot be changed.
But, if you open the buddies list, and double click on your buddy, the from address is correct.
Does anybody else see the same problem and have a workaround?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers.

    HI,
I have 10 additional Account in addition to the iMessages  one but including the Bonjour one.
Generally speaking I use the Buddy lists themselves to chat AIM or Jabber chats.
If you have one Google Mail Account and have enabled "Talk" at your Google setting then you only need to set up "GoogleTalk" in Messages.
If you do go through the Process again and list it as a Jabber account you will need to manually change the server name in the Account's > Server Settings tab.
When typing in the "To" spot it will show you the Real Names of those in the Contacts List.
If you only list a Screen Name or ID  in and Address Card those will be displayed as well.
If, having created the New Message item at least in the list in the left, you use the Blue + icon you can acces the Buddies list.
This is a Combined List and is very difficult to tell which Buddy list they are from as they show Real Names.
Anyway I have several Account so I can "Call Myself"
Once I have my name in the "To" spot I can use it as a drop down
In this pic I am calling from  my [email protected] account to my well known ralphjohnsr AIM name.
As you can see I can change the "From"  this way.
Basically the interface can be made to work.
A partial Name reveals non Address Card Names and ID as well
Although at this point some are labelled as GoogleTalk and are not as you can see by the server names.
(I also think that there is one labelled as yahoo and it is not as there is not @ Suffix part.)
However if I chose one of them it displays the correct "Jabber" and ID in the Text field in grey text as the "From"
    Summary.
The "To " spot is also where you choose the "From" options.
The Interface can be messy but can be made to work.

Since Comcast will no longer allow me to "send" from my AOL Address I need to change my "from:" address on every e-mail I send. I thought I could make my Comcast outgoing server the default one and that would take care of it - it didn't. Then I thought I could just delete my AOL outgoing server and Thunderbird would then have to use my Comast Outgoing Server - it doesn't. I can continue to try and remember to change the
FROM with the drop down list but it would sure be nice if I could save this aging brain of mine and make the software default for me.

Why not just add an AOL server to Tools/Account Settings/Outgoing Server (SMTP) and then have that server selected in Tools/Account Settings/<i>aolaccount</i> in the Outgoing Server (SMTP) dropdown in the right pane? Use these settings: smtp.aol.com on port 465, SSL/TLS security, Normal password authentication, User name = your screen name.

I have an iPhone 4S and the latest Apple TV, both setup with my email address as the Apple ID.  I subscribed to iTunes Match so our music could be played from iCloud.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  When I try to turn on iMatch so she can play our music from iCloud on her new iPad it tells me that she needs a subscription to iTunes Match.  Is it Apple's intent that we would need two iTunes Match subscriptions?  If not, how do I accomplish what I want to get done?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.
