USIM application PIN verification from another applet or MIDlet

Hi,
I am writing an applet that among other tasks should authenticate a user by checking PIN. However, I do not want to create (using OwnerPIN API) one more PIN in addition to that used in USIM applet. Is it possible to check if the entered PIN is the correct USIM PIN? Can this check be done from my applet or MIDlet?

IE 6.0 will use the <OBJECT> tag.
Try to remove all of your carriage returns within your text/html file inside the document.writeln (..)

Accessing an applet from another applet

Hi,
I created a web page with a bunch of applets running on it, and I need to comunicate them. Is it possible to access the public methods and variables of one applet from another applet ? How do I do it ?

I recently read an article that described how to access other applets in the same page, but I didn't pay much attention to it because I don't write applets. However, a quick look at the API documentation for the java.applet package shows this:
"AppletContext: This interface corresponds to an applet's environment: the document containing the applet and the other applets in the same document."
So I would try to get an AppletContext and see what could be done with it.

Best way To get data from another application using NDDE lbrary

My vb.net application gets data from another application using NDDE Library. I got stocks prices (open,high,low,close,volume,change......(about 15 records for each stock)) (about 200 stocks) . I don't know if there is a problem in my code.

and then I get the data from Client_advise sub (called each time a value changed )and fill the list. What I know is that client advise gets only one record for single stock each time is called..

According to your description, you'd like to get data from another app using NDDE library.
When using the NDDE library, the CPU usage is high. As the NDDE library is third-party library, it is not supported here. I suggest you checking if the problem is caused by the NDDE library.
If you'd like to get data from another app. I suggest you could save the data in the dataBase, and then read it in another application if necessary.

Monitoring EJB from another application

Hi!
Let's say: We have some EJB deployed of Application Server. Each EJB (doesn't metter if session or entity) has its methods that can be called. (All EJB are in the same application)
Can I from another application see what methods has been called and at what time? I can extend monitored application with its log files, but want to use application to be monitored as is.
I guess it depends on Application Server functionality. I would like to do it on SUN reference implementation (from J2EE SDK). If there is another App Server (the best free one) please note.
I would be very thankfull for any answer.

You could use the opensource EJB-container JBOSS and modify the source to perform logging of when a particular method was called etc.
This will enable you to run the application as is with no modifications.

Using an applet to call another applet

I know that some of you may have heard this question many times before from other people, however this is an act of desperation as I have tried searching everywhere in vain for the solution.
How do you call an applet from another applet? I cannot seem to find a solution that works. I have created a simple game using Java applets but I am trying to create a title screen. Since the graphics method calls itself repeatedly, I didn't bother putting the method that drew the main screen into the paint (Graphics g) method. So I have finally decided upon creating a seperate simple applet that would only show the main screen, and when a button is pressed, the game will be played. I have everything except for the "calling an applet" part. So how do I call an applet from another applet? What is the most simple / efficient way that someone with limited technology and understanding of applets can understand?

Yeah well this was also a bit tough for me.. but well mate.. finally cracked it.. ok here is the explanation and eg:
Suppose there are 2 applets. parent and child.. and respectively they are embeded into 2 seperate html files :
i) parent.html
ii) child.html
The task on our hand is .. when there is an event in the parent.. for eg a mouse-click or a button press.. it loads the child applet automatically.
I will demonstrate this with this example:.. here is an applet .. parent which has a button.. upon button press. it loads the child applet.

How AWT TextField can copy/paste from another application?

We know in applet for the security reason you can not access the getSystemClipboard from the Swing component like JTextField. But We know that with AWT TextField, you can copy and paste from another application. My question is how AWT textfield implemented with this feature. I don't think it is via the systemclipboard. Can some explain this for me?

PS: I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

It is usually a permissions issue.. you have read but not write permission. Why it would suddenly change is one of those Apple Mysteries... but it happens.
Open the directory (folder) where your media files are.. and check the permissions.. see if you can fix them.
The problem is the folder on the TC might have lost your ownership and you might not be able to change it.. Apple do not provide anyway to regain permissions because you would need low level access to the TC firmware.
I would just as a matter of course reset the TC to factory and redo its setup.
Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
Do the setup via airport utility using different names.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumerics. Make sure passwords are also pure alphanumeric mixed case and numbers.. 8-20 characters is usually plenty.
Mount the disk in finder and see if you have the same issue.. I am not expecting a change.. but it is worth a try.
No luck you can copy your files off the TC.. wipe it .. and then copy them back.. no bad thing unless you already have a backup of your files at the moment. In which case you can just wipe the TC and copy the files now.

How to open Adobe Reader file from another native IOS application?

There is an existing thread, but I want to re-open it because I think this is an important feature that we need badly. I was wondering if there is any plan to add this feature so we can open PDFs directly into Adobe from the web / other apps.

Not to hijack the conversation but I can explain why this would be useful for both the above case and another.
What I believe Pavel is talking about is setting up a "URL Scheme" for the Adobe Acrobat iOS application so that you can easily open a PDF specifically in Adobe Acrobat iOS from other native applications and even from web applications opened within Safari. This is particularly useful if your application requires some of the specific features in Adobe Reader iOS to grant them the best experience possible and you want to encourage this.
Another case: If you're using Adobe Livecycle's document security modules (that encrypts PDF files so that Adobe Acrobat must "phone home" to decrypt and view the document), these PDF's can only be viewed inside the Adobe Acrobat application and appear as blank in most other PDF readers. Having a URL scheme allows your application utilising this functionality to have a 1 click step to view the PDF rather than the current non-user friendly process:
- Within Safari, touch the PDF link (appears as blank in the default Safari PDF reader, which in itself is confusing)
- Touch "Open in..."
- Touch "Adobe Acrobat"
We have an immediate need for this functionality for the example above. I can resubmit it in a separate post if necessary.

Calling a bounded task flow (that uses fragments) from another application

Hello,
I'm currently having difficulties calling a task flow located inside another application.
I have application Console which is my main application in which I would like to run other applications within. Inside this Console I have it divided into splitter windows and inside them I have regions. My goal is to be able to call a task flow from another application inside one of these regions but so far I'm having no luck.
My first problem occurred when I created a 'local' task flow to make a call to another application's task flow. When I set the properties to the task flow call, it gave me an error that it could not find the .XML file for that task flow when I ran the Console application. I then proceeded to copy that .XML from the remote application into the Console's WEB-INF directory and I seemed to get a bit farther. The error I get now is saying that I cannot run a task-flow that uses fragments. It's essentially trying to run that task flow as an entirely new page instead of inside the region that it's bound to. It's NOT a dynamic region (although that's the end goal here). So I then changed the other application's task flow to simply display an entire page rather than fragments inside a region and voila, it works..... kind of.
To recap how I was able to call another application's task flow inside the Console:
- I had to manually copy the task flow xml file into the Console WEB-INF directory
- I had to change the task flow so that it didn't use fragments
- I have called the task flow but I lose my console page entirely, no more regions or splitters so I'm back to square one.
If anybody has any suggestions, hints, tips or anything, send them this way and I will be forever greateful.

Unfortunately the problem seems to be greater than that. I've been able to package task-flows into a jar library and tried importing them that way with no luck.
I'm simple trying to call an external task-flow to run inside a region which is inside a splitter panel that I call my console.
Any other ideas ?
