Using 12V DC to DC converter as iBook power supply in car

I've built a power distribution box for my 12 volt accessories in my car. I bought a Carnetix DC to DC converter to power my VGA touchscreen connected to my G4 1.42 ghz iBook. It can also provide stable 12 volt power for a laptop, with settings of 18, 19 or 20 volts.
Anyone know which voltage to set the converter at, or if this will even work? I've searched the forum, but I can't seem to find a clear indication of the voltage needed for the iBook.

Hi David,
Welcome to the Discussions.
The iBook power adapter has an output of 24v @ 1.875 amps. I think you would be better off using a 12v DC to 120v AC inverter along with the power adapter.

  • LaCie DVD-burner and iBook  power supply problem

    Hello guys!
I bought recently external LaCie DVD burner (USB). I experienced problem connecting it to iBook. It suppose to be possible to be powered up from USB but only possible way to power up burner only via external power supply. Is there is any possibility to adjust power in iBook so burner will work. I'v checked possibility to use it only powered form USB on MacBook of my friend - it works smooth only from single USB...
    Thanks for any suggestions,

  • Ibook Power Supply  45W or 65W?

I recently bought a used ibook G3 800Mhz. Runs great. The Power supply that came with has a mismatched cord and a is a 65W model. The battery does not charge. Do I need a 45W power source? It seems so from the knowledge base information that I read. I am probably going to need to replace the battery anyway but I don't want buy a new battery and ruin it.
    Any suggestions?

The mismatched cord may be a problem, but either a 45-watt or 65-watt adapter works fine with the iBook. If the adapter is powering the iBook now, chances are there's nothing wrong with the cord.
The iBook will only charge the battery with the necessary power, so you don't have to worry about ruining the battery with an over-powered adapter.
You can read Apple's suggestions for maximizing the life and lifespan of the battery in this article:

This topic has been moved to AMD64 nVidia Based board.
[Athlon64] Should I use the 24 pin PSU converter ?

I've heard that most 24 pin boards run just fine with just the 20 pin plug... just has long as your PSU has enough amps on the 12v for proper function. Might be a different story if you have a fully populated SLI setup though.
I don't see why they wouldn't as most new PSU's come with a plug that is essentially a 20 pin that just has a detachable 4 pin add on. Of course if you need the PCI-e power plugs and don't have any adapters for those, you may as well upgrade anyhow.

  • Convert an iBook author file to an epub file

How do you convert an iBook author file to an epub file so other devices can open my book?

This is so unfortunate.  I teach a graduate multimedia class, and we are looking for an authoring program in which students can create ebooks.  Last year we used iBooks Author, which is a terrific program and does not require advanced tech skills, but is really limited in terms of its publishing and output options.  I would love to use Author again but am frustrated by its inability to play well with the PC platform.  Is there anything being planned that would enable iBooks to be converted to a PC friendly platform?  I do not want to export the books as PDFs because we lose all of the interactivity functions.  Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I use the HP dvd1040 burner with my iBook?

I am going to Italy tomorrow and want to bring my iBook but need to have the external dvd burner to load all of the pictures I will take because my hard drive is almost completely full. I am using Roxio Toast to try and burn the dvds and the iBook is not even recognizing the burner.

If the hard drive is almost full, less that 5 GB free space on the hard drive, you won't be able to burn a DVD. Both Apple's built-in burner and Roxio Toast require enough disk space to create a temporary burn file that mimics the data being burned, so to burn a 4.7 GB DVD you'd need at least 4.7 GB free space, plus space for the OS's scratch files and caches.
Try to delete as much unnecessary stuff as possible from your hard drive to free up at least 5 GB. You might want to move smaller chunks of data onto CD-R first (that would need as little as 1 GB free space), than delete those files after they're archived onto CD-R.
If the hard drive on any Unix-based computer fills up completely, the computer will stop booting except in single-user mode, and freeing enough disk space to continue normally while in the single-user Unix command line interface is a non-trivial process indeed.
BTW, what model iBook are you taking to Italy? Considering Voltage Specifications by Country, and checking against Apple Power Supplies: Changing voltage settings, the iBook's power supply is auto-switching (this being the eMac forum, there have been sad tales of those who ddin't realize that the eMac's power supply is preset and not readily changed, and subsequently had their eMac's fried when plugged into 220v power outlets). You should just need a plug adapter for the iBook in Italy.

WIth LabVIEW how do I control an instrument with a RS232 output, using a RS232 to USB converter cable since I dont have rs232 ports. I have two instruments that I want to control in this manner. One is an Imada ZPS force gage with RS232 output. The other is a Panasonic HL-G103-S-J laser micrometer sensor which is RS422. I've done considerable LabVIEW programming using GPIB but I have no experience with devices like these. Any tutorial or examples would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I understand that you want to control a device which having RS 232 port as output. If so, you can use an USB-RS232 cable from PC to device and you can control or monitor the device.
    See this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2669
Also, first check the device in hyperterminal and then continue to program in labVIEW. You can find the serial VI's in Instrument I/O.

Purchased content MAY be available for redownload - Music for sure.  I think books are NOT available for redownload (not sure).
Best practice is to keep the content on a desktop computer to be able to resync when necessary (or use a cloud service like Drop Box).

  • Using ABAP Web Service tor convert IDoc to XML and transfer to SOAP Server

    Hi all,
I have a problem to use ABAP Web Service to convert IDoc's to XML and then send them to a SOAP Server.
Currently we have the following landscape:
    SAP->XI->Archive
The sap-system (ECC6.0) sends an IDoc to the Exchange Infrastructe. The XI maps the IDoc and converts it to the required XML format, used by the archive. Afterwards, the XML documents are sended to the SOAP Server.
So I'm trying to replace the Exchange Infrastructure with ABAP Web Service.
I've read a lot of posts and documents reagarding ABAP Web Serivce, converting IDoc's to XML, RFC and so on, but I'm not able to do the replacement.
I don't know how to start and which steps are required.
The required roles and authorizations at the sap-system and the service for soamanager and the Web Service Viewer are available.
First I thought to create the RFC and partner profiles and then the report to convert IDoc to XML as a BAPI. With this BAPI I supposed to create and define a Web Service. The problem is, I don't know how to trigger the report if the Idoc should be send to the archive.
Hopefully, someone has an idea or a how-to for me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Christoph

    Hi BigTicket.
A suggestion to trigger the BAPI / WebService at the IDoc receiving is to use a user exit or enhanced inside the idoc function module. When the idoc arrived to the idoc port the system start the related function module and then your user exit/enhanced in which you invoke your BAPI.
    I hope this help.
    Ciao.

  • I would like to use FireWire to move files between 2 iBook G3's.

I would like to use FireWire to move files between 2 iBook G3's but the disk icon for the target disk computer does not show on the other. I've tried using 3 different iBooks and 2 different Firewire cables. Are there any other settings I should use?  Any ideas?

Check the settings in the General tab of the Finder's preferences, and whether or not the drive appears in the Disk Utility.

Metadata can be added in Properties panel. select a file and hit Alt+Enter. It will open up Properties panel. You may drag drop tags on the media and do File > Write tags info to files to write tags in file metadata.

  • I have a new Nikon D750 sitting on my desk and can't edit the photos with any adobe product?  We are in full wedding season and am a little frustrated.  Photo mechanics opens them right up to download them.   I am using the Nikon software to convert them

I have a new Nikon D750 sitting on my desk and can't edit the photos with any adobe product?  We are in full wedding season and am a little frustrated.  Photo mechanics opens them right up to download them.   I am using the Nikon software to convert them into tiffs.  when is the camera raw update coming out.  I am not the only photographer with this issue check out all the chatter about it.

This happens every single time a new camera comes out from one of the two big camera makers. Nikon and Canon do not send preproduction units to Adobe, so Adobe has to go out and buy a D750 or whatever from the store to test and profile it before they can update Lightroom. They can't get one earlier than you and I can. The profiling is quite an extensive operation. Other camera makers do send preproduction units, use dng, or do the profiling in-house and there you often get support right from release. If camera makers would finally embrace an open raw format such as dng, this whole problem would be gone but both Canon and Nikon seem to think they live in an upside-down world where their clients only use their software.
Usually the dead period only lasts a few weeks but it is frustrating nevertheless. My only advice is to not buy a new camera at the day of release and expect to have third parties to support it. You definitely should not be buying these cameras right away if your business depends on it. Aperture, Capture One, etc. have the exact same problem. No third party (read non-Nikon in this case) will support the camera from the release date. Some are quicker than other adding support. Adobe is somewhere in the middle of the pack in this respect. Nobody outside of Adobe knows when an update comes out. Could be tomorrow, could be a few more weeks or a month. They might jump straight to Lightroom 6 and never add direct support to LR 5. Sometimes they will first bring out a beta version of dng converter that will convert the new camera's nef files to dng, which will work fine in the current Lightroom before updating Lightroom itself.
