Using 2 Apple IDs on one device

I want to use the cloud match/storage service for our family media. I have 2 iphones, an ipad, 2 macbook pros, 2 itvs, 2 ipod touches and 4 desktop computers. That all currently use the same itunes apple ID for media play & purchase. however the 2 iphones use different  mobile me accounts for sync of contacts calendars and such and one of the ipods is set up with a mobile me for my son with his desktop for sync. I want the seperation but I want the sync... can I keep my itunes accound synced and iCloud based for my family amongst the devices and still have seperate iCloud accounts for myself, my wife and my boys.

I have two Apple id s,one from day dot before the email address requirement
Address 1 is my iTunes id simply a name
Address 2 is my iCloud apple id (email style)
I use both accordingly.
When I need to apply a password the system obligingly tells me which id requires the password which are different
Not sure whether this is the split you want but consider my set up and compare with what you are trying to achieve

  • Can I use to Apple IDs to one device (iPod touch)?

    Hi,
I have just bought a new iPod touch and cannot decide how to use it with iTunes. This is the situation. I have iTunes installed on my lap top and one Apple ID registered for my iPod shuffle. My wife has an iPad and an iPhone and she usually sync it with our home PC (where we have more music). She has her own Apple ID which she uses to purchase apps etc. Now, my question is how I can switch between the different computers. If I connect my new iPod touch to my Apple ID and download music from my lap top, can I also connect mu iPod touch to our home computer and download music and apps also from there?

iDevices only sync with one computer... any attempts to sync with a  different computer will result in the media already on the device being wiped and replaced with media from the new computer.
This has nothing to do with how many Apple ID's are associated with the device.  It is possible to use multiple Apple ID's on a single device for syncing different media and apps.

  • Can I use multiple Apple IDs in one device on IOS 7 as I do on IOS 6 ?

I Used to live in the UK so I have many apps, albums and other stuff purchased from the UK stores. When I moved to the States I started to buy from the US stores.. With IOS 6 I can switch between stores and have content from both of them on my devices, can I do the same on IOS 7?

Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open, quit it.
This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

  • Can I use multiple apple ids on one device

My family shares an iPad but we all have different ids and want to put our own apps on it. Is this possible?

As far as I know this is possible. Just log in with each single id under settings>store an redownload the apps from the app store (app store>downloads>purchased articles).
Though it will be difficult to do future updates, because only the updates of the id that is used for the moment are showing up.

  • Multiple apple IDs on one device

Can i use more than one apple id on one device, though not simultaneously. I have an office apple id which has my corporate card linked, and a personal id with my personal card linked. can these two be used on one device of course one at a time.
thank you for help with this information.

Note though, that as far as the iTunes or App store is concerned, you can only change the AppleID once every 90 days, see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627

  • Using two apple IDs on one Itunes account

I recently purchases a ipad for my 86 year old mother. I want to also add music to it that I have cd's for. She now has an Apple ID of her own and I have my own Apple ID. The problem is this, when I log out of my itunes account and log in as her, I can still see all my music library as her. How do I see NOTHING under her account, until I actually load in music for her. Then can i sync her ipad using my OWN Mac and have it appear on her ipad? I have not enabled home sharing at all. Thank you!

Phil, I am confused about your statement/answer:
""Is it possible to create two Apple IDs on one iTunes account?"
    Yes.  I have two."
    Apple says:
"An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID."
Thus an Apple ID is the same as the iTunes account.
Did you mean can yu use more than one Apple ID on one iPod because yuo know the answr is yes.
Or have I go something wrong?

  • From several apple ids on one device to one account

I have sort of an opposite issue.  I installed some free apps using my ID on my friend's phone when they couldn't accesses their own id.  I thoughts it's no big deal, but now they can see all the apps I ever purchased via iCloud and can install them on their phone! I want to stop it.  Will deleting those apps on their device solve it? Now the phone contains apps from two apple accounts. I wish there was a way to scan a phone via iTunes and simply delete specific apple ids? Thanks.

Apple ID is not meant to share with your friends.
On your friend's iPhone: Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: > sign out here and delete those apps downloaded using your Apple ID.

  • Can I use two different Apple IDs on one device for music?, Can I use two different Apple IDs on one device for music?

I have a band's album but they are relasing a deluxe album on presale but only for UK.
I have a pen pal who could send me a UK iTunes card since those are region locked but if I make another Apple ID in the "UK," could I still download it (after switching iTunes store region) on my iPod with my USA songs?
Sorry if my explination was a little confusing, if you have any questions you can ask me in the comments.

This would be a violation of the terms of use of the itunes store and could result in the loss of your account.
You cannot use the U.K. itunes store unless you are in the U.K

Also if you download any past purchases from an account and/or turn on automatic downloads for it then you will tie the iPad to that account for 90 days (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627)
You are incorrect regarding automatic downloads.  I've had multiple IDs on both my original iPad for over two years and my iPod Touch G4 for a year.  I've have had automatic downloads turned on for music, apps and books on both devices and I've never had a problem.  My auto-download is tied to the ID that I am trying to eventually migrate to as my only one.
This is probably academic because, reading a bit between the lines, I don't think that the OP would care about automatic downloads.
This seems to be selective in how this works and by that I mean that sometimes users are locked out of their own account when they download content from another ID.
I was in a discussion yesterday where a user used his partner's ID on his iPad in order to download a book for him. After he downloaded the book to his iPad using his partner's ID, he was locked out of his own ID.
I referred the OP to the iTunes Associated Devices kb article that King Penguin referenced. I have no idea if this is the reason, but sometimes I wonder that because you have the same address and I assume the same credit card associated to both of your ID's - that this does not apply to you.
The bottom line is that this does lock some users out of their own ID's. I've seen it happen before - and more than a few times. I just can't figure out definitively when and why it actually does happen to a particular user.
Plus - why would Apple warn users about it if there wasn't any truth to it.

  • HT204074 So your telling me that me and my brother (using different apple IDs on one computer) have to alternate every 90 days on backing up our purchases from an Iphone.

Trying to transfer the purchases from my iPhone to iTunes but my brother just did the same last week so it's saying i have to wait 84 days to back up purchases. Any ways around this? After using apple products for 10+ years, if i have to deal with this I won't be buying an iPhone 5 in a few months. because in the end the only think keeping me with the 4S was the fact that i already had a large music library but at this point my recent purchases a fairly useless for the next 3 months

Correct.  You can only redownlaod previous purchases from one account every 90 days.
You can still transfer them from your iphone ipod.  File>Transfer Purchases

  • How do I use separate apple ids on one iPad?

On our original iPod we bought apps under one apple ID. Three years later with our first iPad, we used a different ID for purchases. Now we want to install the original apps (at least some of them) on our new iPad air. How?

Do you have them on your computer's iTunes library or on a backup drive so that you can sync them to it ? You could log into that account on your iPad (tap on the current id in Settings > iTunes & App Store to log out of that) and redownload them via the Purchased tab in the App Store app, but if you do that you may tie your iPad to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 (so you might not be able to redownload, use iTunes Match or automatic downloads on your 'iPad' account until those 90 days have completed).

  • Using two apple Ids on one PC

I am unable to download purchases from my icloud to my itunes library on the pc. I get an error message saying I can only download past purchases on this computer with just one apple i.d every 90 days. Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick and thorough reply. Wow, what a pain! You'd think there'd be a way. For me it is almost worth it to just delete it and re buy the app (now $2.99) because it's a pta to deal with if and when updates, upgrades and any other unforseen issues arise (which they actually have since I got it--and I sat here for a while trying to deal with it). Well, now I know... don't make costly typos! Geesh

How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes? I wanted my teenager's AppleID to be different from mine so that she couldn't charge stuff to my AppleID, therefore I created me another one. Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? If I can just log in out of the AppleID, then I have no problem doing that as long as the synced apps, music, etc stays there for both. I am not trying to copy from one to the other, just want to make sure I have a backup for the UhOh times. If logging in and out on the same PC of multiple AppleIDs is acceptible then I need to be able to authorize the PC for both devices. Thanks for the help. I am new to the iOS world.

  • How do you transfer Apple IDs from one ipad to another iPad?  I got the new ipad and gave my ipad 2 to my wife who had the first version and now I can't get my Apple ID off so she can use her Apple ID.

how do you transfer Apple IDs from one ipad to another iPad?  I got the new ipad and gave my ipad 2 to my wife who had the first version and now I can't get my Apple ID off so she can use her Apple ID.

You don't transfer Apple ID's from one device to another one. You sign out in the settings, )the App Store and iTunes if necessary) and then sign in with the other ID.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Sign out. Them sign in with the other ID. You can sign out of the app store and iTunes as well by going to the featured Atab in the App Store and the music tab in iTunes, swipe to the bottom and access the Apple ID in there.
You should have erased the iOad before you gave it to her in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. That way she could set up the iPad as new with her own Apple ID.
Be aware of the fact that if you use each others ID's in order to download past purchased content to your own iPads, you will lock yourself out of your own ID as you will have associated your iPad with the other person's Apple ID.
In other words, if you sign into your wife's ID on your iPad so that you can download an app or an album so that you don't have to pay for it again, you will lock yourself out of your Apple ID for 90 days.

  • Is there still a new MIDI standard coming out soon (MIDI 2.0)?

Hello, I was just wondering what the word on the supposed second coming of MIDI was. I seem to hear about it for a bit, and than hear nothing for a good while. I heard that it will be finalized within a year of MIDI's twenty year anniversary, which i
