Using 2 or more USB instruments with Logic Pro

I recently purchased a Korg M3 (which is great). I'm considering adding a Motif XS rack.. My question, are any Logic Users out there using Logic Pro with two or more USB instruments connected?
Are there any issues with that (other than assigning to different MIDI channels)? Does USB bog down when there is too much data?

I'm only using these three lines of code. If they don't work, neither will any more lines.
I discovered the issue thought. If I read two different fields from the same user-defined table then it works. If I read from two different user-defined tables I get the error. Apparently B1 can't handle parameters being set from two different ud tables.
This works:
DECLARE @S2 nvarchar(30), @S3 nvarchar(30)
SELECT @S2 = (SELECT T0.U_Country FROM [dbo].[@COUNTRIES] T0 WHERE T0.U_Country = '[%2]')
SELECT @S3 = (SELECT T0.U_CCode FROM [dbo].[@COUNTRIES] T0 WHERE T0.U_CCode = '[%3]')
While this does not:
DECLARE @S2 nvarchar(30), @S3 nvarchar(30)
SELECT @S2 = (SELECT T0.U_Country FROM [dbo].[@COUNTRIES] T0 WHERE T0.U_Country = '[%2]')
SELECT @S3 = (SELECT T0.U_AdCode FROM [dbo].[@BPGROUPS] T0 WHERE T0.U_AdCode = '[%3]')

  • Can I connect every USB-Audiointerface with Logic Pro?

    Hello there,
please forgive me, if my english isn't so well.
So, my "problem": I actually informated me over Logic Pro X, and by the provided Audiointerfaces, I didn't saw my Audiointerface.
But - Can I simply connect a USB-Audiointerface with Logic Pro?
    So, hope you understand me,
Best wishes, "toasbrot_55" (sorry for that name, i don't know when I did chosen this name)

All Mac OS compatible audio interfaces work with Logic, and almost all USB interfaces are Mac compatible. So it depends on which interface you have (make and model), and which Mac OS version you use.

  • Can I use a VS-700C control surface with Logic Pro?

    Hi,
Does anybody know if I can use a Roland VS-700C control surface and/or VS-700R audio interface with Logic Pro?
    Cheers,
    Craig

If it supports the Makie protocol, it might work... but I wouldn't purchase one on that basis without trying it first.

  • Using Eventide Eclipse as outboard gear with Logic Pro 8/9

    Hi, people,
Anyone using Eventide's Eclipse as outboard FX box with Logic Pro? I'm thinking of getting one and running it via digital I/O into my RME Fireface 800. Any info appreciated.
    Thanks, Scorpii.

Yes it is possible, first connect your outboard to the soundcard.....then load the I/O (inserts) plug in on the track you want to process....you can find it in the utility menu....then set the routing of the signal in the I/O window....if you want to record the processed track create a new track with the right routing and the work is done.hope this replay help you . • How to use my TS 12 Ensoniq keyboard with Logic Pro X

I just got Logic Pro X but I have no idea how to use my midi keyboard. I have a midi to usb cable running between my TS-12 Ensoniq keyboard. How do I set up the drivers or really just get it all to work. I'm a noob to the hardware stuff though I'm quiet fimilar with Logic 9. Help would be great asap!

So I guess it can make the sound of one hand clapping?
    Anyway...
Does the USB-MIDI cable need drivers? What brand is it? There are some cheap ones floating around ebay that don't work properly with all hardware. Assuming you've got a working one that needs no drivers, all you need to do is plug it in, the OS and Logic should detect it automatically. In Audio MIDI Setup (MIDI page) you can check if your Mac indeed recognizes the MIDI interface. It will not show the TS12 itself, just the MIDI interface.
You can find Audio MIDI Setup in Applications>Utilities.

  • Can I use my old Garageband Jam Packs with Logic Pro X?

I'm in the process of moving all of my Logic X Library content to an external hard drive and it occurred to me that I still have 4 GarageBand Jam Packs that I might be able to use in Logic X. Does anyone know if there is any real difference in the loop content of the Jam Packs and the loops that are on Logic X ? Has anyone tried this and made any kind of comparison? Just wondering. Thanks.

When you download all the additional content from within Logic Pro X.. any jam packs you are missing are then installed during that process... but if you already have them all installed the LPX additional content installer will find them and set them up for use in LPX.
The content of the Jam packs are identical....

  • Digidesign 192 units with Logic Pro X

Hi- is it possible to use 2/3 Digidesign 192 units with Logic Pro X or am i still relegated to 8 ch in/out w the D. core audio driver? I recently bought an Universal Audio Apollo 16 that I can use for mixing/editing on my iMac or MacBookPro but I have 2 192 units and am thinking of buying another to run on an 2009 Mac Pro for live recording or would I be better off just selling the 192's and purchasing another Apollo 16for 32 tracks for live recordings?
I could only get 8 ch in/out with LP 9 and will need more inputs for the live recording rig and would rather use Logic than PT 8.
    Thanks!

Logic Remote detects Logic Pro via Bonjour, which is done via a technology called "DNS Multicast". AirPlay, etc. all work this way. Make sure it has the most recent firmware and maybe google for issues with it.

  • Nexus 1.4.1 stopped working with Logic Pro X

Hello Guys! I am currently using Logic Pro X on Mavericks 10.9.4. I have been using refx Nexus 1.4.1 with Logic Pro X with the help of another application called 32 lives that allows 32 bit apps to be used with 64 bit apps but all of sudden it stopped working and I get " validation result: couldn't be opened". I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app to no avail. I'm attaching a screenshot. I hope this helps. What can I do to resolve this issue. Thanks.

Then... either you have a problem with your system... Permissions issue maybe...
or you are using an out of date version of 32Lives... (Update to v1.4)
or you are using the pirated version of Nexus 1 (Buy the legal version..as v1.4.1 cracked is known to have issues under the latest OS X versions..)
Because I just tested a legal Nexus v1.4.1 with 32Lives v1.4 (I had an old copy that I reinstalled on one of my testbed Macs here as i use Nexus 2 these days..) and with both Mavericks and LPX (10.9.4 and 10.0.7) it all works fine here without issue....

  • Can i use my snowball usb mic with Logic or Pro Tools???

Can i use my snowball usb mic with Logic or Pro Tools???

    Hi there,
Did you find out anything more in regard to this?
I have been using Pro Tools 8 with the MBox 2 connected to my iMac operating Leopard. It worked a treat for nearly four years.
However the hardrive has just been replaced on the iMac which now has Snowleopard.  I don't want to have to update to Lion and then fork out £500 for Pro Tools 10.
I would be content to get Logic Pro 9 if I can attach the MBox 2 to it.
    Your advice would be appreciated

using usb mic with logic output stops

Aggregate devices are setup in the Audio/Midi setup of OSX Utilities, (Not in Logic). It gives you a way of having for than one audio i/o device. Once you have set up your aggregated devices in Audio/Midi, when you start Logic you will need to go into Audio preferences and choose the Aggregate device.

I am recording with Logic Pro X, using my Yamaha XS8 keyboard as a Midi controller. I also have a Thunderbolt Display. Every time I play and release a note on the keyboard, the Thunderbolt Display speaker emits a doink sound. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop? My sound is running through the Saffire Pro 40 Interface (Focusrite) into external speakers with powered amps.
Also, When I record I am hearing little pops in the system. I have checked all of my meters and they are not clipping. What is causing it and how do I get it to stop?

Thanks for the response, but I do not have a midi interface. I am using a midi to usb connector cable, thus bypassing the need for a Midi interface.
The Mac reads the USB cable as a midi device, but not the keyboard that I am trying to use as a controller. I have tried it with my korg sp 300 and with my Nord Electro 2.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,

    Tristan...
This is what you have, correct?
    http://www.alesis.com/usbmidicable
    This from Alesis..
"The AudioLink Series USB cable receives and outputs MIDI signal thanks to its internal interface. The USB-MIDI Cable connects plug-and-play to your Mac or PC for an all-in-one USB-MIDI solution."
Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.

  • Using Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with MacBook Pro, Air, Retina (with pictures)

Using Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with MacBook Pro, Air, Retina (with pictures)
The purpose of this discussion thread is to:
    (1) Get community thoughts around using alternative and complimentary mousing approaches with MacBooks
    (2) To share a current and searchable set of resources for those interested in leveraging a best-of-both-worlds approach for using a non-Apple Trackpoint Keyboard with an Apple MacBook.
    (3) To level-set the fact that a Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard works with MacBooks automatically and instantly out-of-the-box.
Note: I created this discussion because I found that all the other discussion threads related to using a Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard with MacBooks were archived and therefore I could not post my thoughts there.
I have been using MacBooks for 3+ years now.  Airs, Pros, Retinas etc.  I LOVE the built-in MacBook Apple Trackpad.  It is wonderful.  Apple has no equal as far as Trackpads go.
In addition, I have been using the Thinkpad Trackpoint USB Keyboard with my MacBooks for ~2 years, and below is why I have found BOTH the Apple Trackpad and Thinkpad Trackpoint to be great.
The Trackpoint and Trackpad both have their sweet spots.  Personally I use the built-in Apple Trackpad on my MacBooks when I'm using my MacBook for less than 1 hour, loosely speaking.  If I am going to be heads-down for more than 1 hr writing, reading, surfing, graphic designing, programming, workshop facilitating, teaching, mindmapping, presenting, demoing, etc. then I pull out my "Lenovo Thinkpad USB Keyboard with Trackpoint (55Y9003) > https://www.google.com/search?&q=lenovo+thinkpad+trackpoint+usb+keyboard
I know many will laugh at me for using a Thinkpad Trackpoint Keyboard with a MacBook...  Keeping an open mind, let's just agree that there is historical precedence for alternative mousing devices.  If I could only choose one, I would use the Apple MacBook built-in Trackpad exclusively, however with alternatives come potential benefits.  Keep in mind that Apple, Microsoft, Logitech and many other companies make millions of dollars each year providing alternative peripheral devices for computers, and mousing is no exception.  Regardless, I just want to share my positive experiences using both. :-)
Why should you care?  For *some* people the following is true and meaningful.  The Trackpoint (the little red eraser head stick thingy) in the midle of the keyboard enables useful and unique dynamics/use-cases, including:
You don't have to take your hand(s) off the keyboard to mouse
You can independantly click without accidentally moving the mouse (Yes I know some people don't have issues with this)
You don't run out of finger-gesture runway when you're moving your mouse across the screen (I know this is a gray area for some people)
For mouse-movement-heavy applications (e.g. Graphics, drawing, etc.) the Trackpoint *is at times* more exacting
Below I share some pictures (which I know *look* ridiculous to some people, but none-the-less help demystify what this looks like.  And, while ridiculous looking, it is actually quite thin and elegant once you get over the initial shock of seeing these two diverse technologies combined in this way.
Rest assured, the keyboard shown below (google "55Y9003") is VERY light, thin and fits in almost any laptop case/backpack easily so it is not a big deal to carry it, if you work on-the-go.  In addition:
It is UNCANNY how well it fits on top of the keyboard space of all MacBooks.
It fits perfectly around the corners of the MacBook Pro/Air/Retina keyboard
Note: I took one of the 5 rubber feet/pads off the bottom of my keyboard, the one in the middle
Lastly, you can actually use the built-in Apple Trackpad at the SAME TIME as the Trackpoint Keyboard.
It is quite a nice best-of-both-worlds approach for people that like the benefits of the "Why should you care?" use cases above.
Please reply and comment with your thoughts and please let's keep it positive, constructive and friendly :-)
    Pictures Below:
My two Retina MBPs, one with and one without the keyboard, so you can easily see the difference.  (As if you wouldn't)
A slightly closer-up shot of just the RMBP with the Trackpoint Keyboard on top
Please reply and comment with your thoughts and please let's keep it positive, constructive and friendly :-)

Newer Bluetooth version of the ThinkPad External Trackpoint Keyboard available...
The new version is smaller, so you can use your MacBook Trackpad at the same time as your Trackpoint keyboard.
    Here is the Lenovo model/Part Number# 0B47190
Here is a picture of what it looks like:
Note: Just like the older larger USB model keyboard, there is a rubbery footpad in the middle of the bottom of the keyboard that I just peeled off.  Otherwise, it makes the "H" key press accidentally under-neath the keyboard.  Once I took that off, it fit perfectly over and around the built-in MacBook keyboard, so I can optionally put it on top of my MacBook for easy typing. :-)

  • Using Mackie Control with Logic Pro 7 and Yamaha O1X

I currently own a Yamaha O1x which is a mixer/control surface/audio interface that I use with Logic Pro 7. I am planning on selling the O1X and replacing it with the Mackie Control Universal as my DAW controller and using the Apogee Ensemble as my audio interface. I already have purchased the Mackie Control Universal and would like to begin using it instead of the O1X as my DAW controller, but while I am waiting for the Apogee Ensemble to be released I still need the audio interface capabilties of the O1X. The O1X uses Yamaha's MLAN protocol to connect to the G5. MLAN is a firewire interface that can transmit both audio and midi. Does anyone have a suggestion for a work-around solution so that I can use my Mackie Control Universal (which connects via midi cable) and only use the audio capability but not the control surface of the O1X via the firewire connection? I haven't been able to figure my way through this one and see if it is possible. I have already tried having them both hooked up at the same time, and the Mackie Control seemed to work fine but the audio on the O1X didn't seem to be connecting and functioning properly. I appreciate any help as I am anxious to use my Mackie Control.
    Thank you!

You need to connect only the Audio and not the MIDI between your 01x and Mac. You can achieve this in mLan Graphic Patchbay-connect the cables between the Nodes in Audio part of a Graphic Patchbay, connect the Wordclock but do not make any MIDI connections. this way it should work as you want. the other way is to Make your regular connection from mLan Autoconnector and disable the MIDI ports that are dedicated to control the DAW by 01x by some freeware utility (01x uses port 1 for that...)
As this is quite 01x specific, please visit 01xray.com/forums where you will find more help, or send me PM.
As Apogee enssemble is expected to have great features, I would rather recommend the i88x instead of Enssemble (i88x has two Mic preamps-the best Yamaha produces (derived from Dm2000)VERY good converters (mLan is known for low jitter and it was tested with Rosseta by a mate from 01x forum who said (he tested it in store with other people) that i88x sounded better-may believe it or not...).The mLan Graphis Patchbay application allows you to patch connections between mLan devices and computer -very flexible. 01x already does almost the same as Mackie control and it is for almost the same price.... But maybe you are pi_ssed of waiting for new mLan drivers? I am just speculating....

  • USB Interface Not Working With Logic Pro 9

    Hello,
I've had a Tascam US-1641 for several years now with absolutely zero issues on my old PC. Ever since I upgraded to Mac (early 2011 17 inch Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard) I've had nothing but problems with the US-1641. No matter how many times I uninstall-reinstall the drivers and what USB port I plug it into, whenever I turn on the device and it's connected to my Macbook, it crashes my operating system and it freezes everything I was doing. Logic Pro doesn't load and when it sometimes does (10 minutes later), it immediately crashes when I click anything.
I've tried several tips to fix it and nothing worked. The most popular choice was select the default input/output in Logic to the system audio, then quit Logic, turn on the interface, then restart Logic. No such luck. I have to reboot my machine at least 5 times, uninstall/reinstall the driver and hope it works to use the interface. I thought it was the operating system, so I upgraded to Mountain Lion and installed the new driver for Mountain Lion, after of course deleting the other drivers and removing all previous data, and it is still giving me the same problems.
I don't have the money to afford a replacement model or a different interface from a different company, so I'm hoping you guys can help me figure out what exactly it is that's causing the interface to freeze my operating system and crashing my Mac whenever I try to use it. I am getting extremely frustrated at this and as much as I love OSX and Logic, what good is this piece of software if I can't use it? I need help.
    Thank you.

The problem lies with Tascam and their inability to write stable drivers for OS X...  and isn't anything to do with Logic Pro ..
As you know, you are not the only person to have had this issue and the reality is, while the 1641 might work fine with  Windows, when it comes to OS X Macs.. it's an entirely different story... depending on the version of OS XS you are running.
    The one tip I have read, that seemed to fix it for most people.. (Though not all) is as follows;
    (Thanks to Paulypaulpaul for this)
    -uninstall your tascam driver 2.10
    -restart
    -install driver 1.03
    -restart
    -plug in your tascam
-goto where you download your drivers (http://tascam.com/product/us-1641/downloads/), scroll down to the bottom where it says firmware, Download the firmware 1.02 (3rd from top under firmware), install it. your control panal should now read 1.03 for your drivers and 1.02 for your firmware.
    -install drivers 2.10
    -restart
Follow each of the steps exactly.. including all restarts when indicated..
    ...and good luck...
