How do I use my macbook pro and my 27 iinch apple monitor with face time.

It sounds like you are using a TV as a monitor for your Mac mini, and need to know about attaching a camera to it for use with FaceTime. Here is some info about using an external camera:
FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime
A built-in FaceTime camera, an iSight camera (built-in or external), a USB video class (UVC) camera, or a FireWire DV camcorder.
Making HD video calls requires a built-in FaceTime HD camera and a 1-Mbps upstream and downstream Internet connection.
Receiving HD video calls requires a supported Intel-based Mac. For a complete list, see this article.
A microphone.
You can use a built-in microphone, or connect an external microphone to your computer’s audio input port.
You can use compatible Bluetooth or USB microphone or headsets.
If you have multiple cameras or microphones attached to your computer, use the Video menu to select the camera or microphone you wish to use with FaceTime for Mac.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

From US and in Japan trying to use Wi FI for face time

Please Help.....Im from the US and have an ipod touch 4th gen. all was working well...Now i have traveled to Japan and am trying to use facetime. Im showing a wifi connection but when i try to use the internet or facetime it does not work. I keep getting a message that reads..Cannot Get Mail..mail server imap.gmail.com is not responding...verify correct account in mail settings.. Again all was working well in the US.. Please help and thank you in advance...

You say you have no internet, therefore , you have a wifi connection problem and not a FaceTime problem. Have you tried:
- powering off and then back on the router
- Resetting your iPod;
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Resetting network settings on the ipod:
Setting>General>Reset Network Settings

I have 3 Apple ID accounts, one is only for iTunes, one is for me icloud, and one for my wife icloud
Under my icloud account I have [email protected] with an alias, the alias is what I use for all of my email,
I do not use the [email protected] for anything other than sign in to my icloud account.
I sign in to my icould account with the michael@me, click on add an alternative email and I get this message
The mail alias cannot be the same as a profile email,
I an not understanding what is going on, any suggestions are very much apprciated
If I try and add the alias to any of my other accounts I get "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID."
but looking at my other accounts its not there
I want to use the alias for Face Time

The only way I have seen is to have each device use a if fervent email account, if they all are on the same email the FaceTime connection is either to a phone number or to an email address. If they ar all on the same email, it is up to the user to decide which to use.

In the past few days, my phone number has gone from being gray and uncheckable to use for face time and Imessaging, to not even being an option to use. I can only use my Apple ID now. How do i get my phone number back as an option? I thought the phone was supposed to automatically recognize my number as an option?

Sign out of both iMessage and Facetime. Sign back in. Your number should be available again.

This made me smile, because things like this do make me smile... I never make videos on YouCam, but I did this time, so I could test this one out.
You did not say what webcam software you are using...

Make sure you have turned on a working microphone in Settings:
YouCam > Right-Side Settings >
Right-Side, Lower-Right, Select a working Microphone from the Drop down list
AND
CHECK "Capture with audio"
OK
You can also buy (for $38 US) YouCam 5.0 from the Cyberlink.com website and it has audio/video and all sorts of other goodies, too. (They have 3.x as well, but why buy what HP already gives you?)

- All 4G iPods (the ones with the cameras) have Facetime except those officially purchased in one of the middle eastern countries that prohibit FaceTime. Thee is not way to make FaceTime appear on those iPOds.
- It it has Facetime it can be hidden by Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions.
- Sometimes one just can find it. Use the spotlight Search and search for FaceTime. Also go to Setting and se if there is a setting for facetime.

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the monitor. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the monitor and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the monitor your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.

iCloud:
Settings > iCloud > Delete Account then lock in with your Apple ID.
