Using 30gb and nano on same computer?

i have a 30gb video ipod and a nano. can i update them both only as long as they have the same library or do i have to use 2 separate computers? and what happens if i would go over 2gb? thank you for your help.

You can use them both in from the same computer and Itunes library: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
For the smaller iPod you can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" which would allow you to create a playlist specifically for your iPod Nano and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your Nano (around 1800MB for a 2G). You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and CS5 on Same Computer

I am thinking of upgrading to CS5.5 from CS 4. I would like to know if it is ok to have and use both versions on the same computer. I have projects ongoing in my current version and don't want to have to reconfigure them to operate correctly in the new version. I plan to start new projects in the new version in the future.
    What do you think?

I would tend to agree with Hans. Chances are that unless you need to support a website with methods that are no longer part of the new version of Dreamweaver, you won't need to have both versions.
I have something like 50 websites that are built in Dreamweaver CS3 and upgraded about a month ago to CS 5.5. Both versions of Dreamweaver coexist quite well on my Mac Pro under Snow Leopard and I am able to run both versions of Dreamweaver simultaneously, each with a different website open at the same time.
Both versions also successfully upload information to my server and, in fact, I can have both transmitting data to the same VPS server at the same time.
I have one website that is using a Flash-based slideshow created in Dreamweaver CS3 that I have not updated to the more modern jQuery. Once I update that, I will be able to switch completely to CS 5.5 for all of my websites. There is absolutely no difference in the HTML or CSS code generated by the two applications, as the standards for HTML and CSS are precisely the same.
And Dreamweaver CS 5.5 can be made to look and act like Dreamweaver CS3 (or very close to it) by simply changing how one's code view and design view are laid out (I prefer code to be on top and design to be beneath, rather than the default side-by-side view indroduced with CS5).
I also needed to check off the checkbox in Preferences>New Document "Include Unicode Signature (BOM)" because that is not required for standard English and Roman-alphabet based websites and will flag an error in the W3C Validator.
That's pretty much it. I do like the "Live Code" view, though I always check things in a web browser and check things again in several web browsers once uploaded to the server.

  • Can I run a NANO and a 30GB Ipod off the same computer?  If so how?

I just purchased a 30GB for one of my sons. Set up went find and several songs downloaded. We then erased the songs in itunes and set up a NANO that I got for my other son. Now nothing works.
Can I run two different ipods off the same computer????

There are a few ways of using more than one iPod on one computer, without having to delete songs etc.

  • Can i use ipod nano and mini on same computer?

we have an ipod nano. works great. daughter is trying to use an ipod mini and we get a message that itunes cannot communicate with device and that we need to reinstall itunes. Is there a compatibility problem here? Can we use a nano and a mini on the same computer?
    THANKS!

You may need to update iTunes to work with the second generation nano; updating iTunes will not erase anything from your library, and it will continue to work with the iPod mini.

  • 30 gb ipod and 1gb nano ipod --same computer???????????

My wife has had a 1gb nano for a year and has itunes installed on our laptop. I just purchased a 30 gb ipod and installed itunes on my own sign on but same computer.. My question is ....is there a way to transfer her songs over to my itunes

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • CAN I USE TWO IPODS ON THE SAME COMPUTER? PLS help

i cant seem to find alot of info about this on here... i am probably looking in the wrong place... but heres my situation. Ive had an ipod mini for 2 years now but ive just bought an ipod nano ..... i do all of my main downloading on my power mac g4, but i am going away for school soon and im going to bring my ibook with me. i have already transferred my current library from my Power Mac to my iBook.
What i would like to do is keep using my Power mac to do my downloading until i leave in a few months and then start downloading on my ibook once im away. However, i want to use my ipod nano now.... and you know, a few days before i leave i will update all of my songs that i have downloaded on my power mac onto my ibook.
any suggestions would be great. thanks.

Yes you can. Set your IPOds to "Manual Update". The IPOD can only be linked to one ITunes library at a time. If the libraries have the same content the its up to you which one to snyc from either in Auto or Manual mode.
Here is the official Apple statement:
Question: Can I update more than one iPod with my computer?
Answer: Yes. Each iPod communicates a unique device identification number to your computer, allowing you to take advantage of automatic music transfers to your iPod even if you share a computer with another iPod user. You can choose to automatically update your entire music collection on multiple iPod players or choose to update selected playlists, allowing you to transfer custom playlists to individual iPod players

  • Can multiple users use Photoshop CC on the same computer?

My daughter has an account on my MBP and needs to use Photoshop for her Photography class.  This wasn't an issue with Photoshop CS6.  However, with Photoshop CC, it is asking her to purchase a Photoshop CC subscription.  Is there any way she can just use Photoshop CC from her account on my laptop?

Is there a reason why she can not use photoshop using your account since your sharing the same computer?

  • Need help to see if I can use 2 different Ipods on same computer....

I recently updated from my Ipod shuffel to a Nano. The software automatically updated my computer when I pluged in the new one, but I have given my son my shuffle and have not been able to get it to work on my home computer, can I update his on my computer that I use for my nano?

The ca-55 was the only adaptor to convert a car-k91 to pop port, you can not change it to another type of connector, you will have to buy a new kit.

  • How to use two ipods on the same computer

I have one laptop with four user accounts.  Until now we've had only one ipod that synchs with the iTunes library in Dad's account.  Now daughter has an iPod, but want to use access the same music and playlists as Dad uses, at least for now.  Do we synch the Daughter's ipod in Dad's account, just like we did with the first iPod?

You would need to sync in Dad's account to access Dad's iTunes Library. However, if she has loaded her iPod with the music she wants from Dad's iTunes Library, then she can continue to play the music even if she has her own Apple ID and separate user account on the same computer. She just will not be able to add new music from Dad's iTunes Library unless she uses Dad's Apple ID.
iDevices are single-user devices, so for daughter to have her own Apple ID and iTunes Library, then she has to have her own user account on the computer.
If it's more convenient to have on iTunes Library shared by all, then make no changes. iTunes knows that every connected device is different by the name you give the device, like "Daughters iPod" as an example.

  • Combining Libraries between husband and wife on same computer + 2 iPhones.

I've browsed the forums a bit but can't find an answer so here is the issue.
I've got one Macbook Pro between me and my new wife, I originally copied my library(20,000+ songs) to her iTunes in her profile and she could play all of it in iTunes and sync to her iPhone. The problem is we can't get stuff she buys to show up in my library or be playable on my profile(or our last gen Apple TV or my iPhone). Also anything she gifts me and I download to my profile is not playable in her's or transferable to her iPhone.
I've tried the "Home Sharing" thing. And have tried authorizing both my account to her iTunes and her account to mine.
All I want to do is be able to share music freely between both of our accounts and iPhones. Just the music not applications( I still want those separate so she can have her apps and I have mine).
I'm planning on attempting to put my entire library on an external drive and use my Airport Extreme to access it from the Mac and the Apple TV, not sure if that would make all of our music show up on both profiles or not though. I think it would if both copies of iTunes are pointed at that drive instead of a local folder...
If that doesn't work I'll probably call Apple Tech Support and attempt to get a answer on exactly how to share music in the same household on the same computer.
Any info would be appreciated, if there is a link to a post somewhere or a tech note I can read about how to do it please post it here.

From what I can tell, Home Sharing is for a single account.
    No.
I want to transfer music purchased with my account to an iTunes that is controlled (for lack of a better word) by my wife's account.
When I turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on my MacBook and on my wife's MacBook Pro (in her iTunes using her account)
You need to enable Home Sharing on all computers with the same iTunes ID.

  • Can I install Mountain Lion and Mavericks on same computer

Stupidly I installed Mavericks over Mountain Lion without checking whether Quark XPress 9.5.3.1 would work with Mavericks.
    It won't.
I have re downloaded Mountain Lion and need to know whether I can run both on same computer - and how to do that - any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Lady on Macintosh wrote:
... There is NO way you can have Mountain Lion and Mavericks on the same computer.
Sure you can. Erase one of your partitions and install the OS of your choice on it. You can have as many operating systems on a Mac as you want. Use Startup Manager to select the OS you want to boot. Virtualization software is another option.
Both the Mavericks and Mountain Lion installers will permit you to select the partition on which it is to be installed.
If you don't tell us the errors that resulted from using Lion Disk Maker no one can begin to guess the reason, but no matter, you don't need the USB installer. Just use the App Store.
You can save the installer anywhere you like to use as often as you wish, so you don't have to download it each time.
    It looks like this
You have to copy it before running the installer because the installer conveniently erases the 5+ GB file after the installer is finished with it.

  • More than 1 nano on same computer

how do we keep each nano's downloads separate?
is there away to download an item from one nano to another?

    Hello there,
There are several different methods for handling multiple iPods with one computer. I would recommend checking out this Apple support document that explains and provides step-by-step instructions for each method.
[How to use multiple iPods with one computer|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495]
As to the second question, it depends on how you manage the two nanos on your computer (what method you choose from above). The most you will have to do is make sure that if you are using two separate libraries that the song is in each in order to get it onto both nanos.
    Hope this helped.
