Using 3DS objects in CS4 Extended

I purchased the extended version of Photoshop CS4 this time as my cadd software can save 3d models as 3DS format. I have tried bringing in those 3d entities into a 3d layer but nothing happens. I read somewhere that the third parties have to have a plug-in for Photoshop. I know my cadd software does not (DataCad) but all I read about the 3d thing in Cs4 never mentioned that. Kind of the only reason I paid for the extended aspect of it so I am hoping someone knows how to make this work together. Any ideas?

Sorry to sound like a dummy; I'm not understanding your comment about providing the file from another website? I have the cadd software I am using and created a 3d object to send to you. How do I do that without attaching it to the email?
Subject: using 3DS objects in CS4 Extended
Attachments don't work, so please provide the file from another website. tesselation refers to converting BRep surfaces to polygons. Dunno how it is handled in your program, but it's eitehr automatic in the file exporters or a dedicated function somewhere. PS only accepts 3DS, OBJ, DAE and U3D files, so the other formats are no option. And if you don't mind: Please do not attach addresses and signatures. The forum rules clearly strate "no self-promotion". Thank you.

  • Smart Objects and CS4 Extended

    Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a known issue with CS4 Extended and Smart Objects.
It's entirely impossible for me to work with them in CS4, as it constantly unexpectedly quits.
Any attempt to edit the object in Photoshop or in Illustrator and upon updating in Photoshop causes it.
I end having to go back to CS3 if I have to use them.
I have CS4 at home and don't have this issue, so I'm wondering if it's something with Extended. A coworker is having the very same issue also.
We're both working on 2.26 Quad Cores, 10.5.8 and 16 GB of memory.
    Any suggestions will be apreciated.
    Thanks.
    -Vincent

    Hi thanks for the reply.
I have the performance set as: Memory Usage 100%, No Scratch disk as I haven't been given a 2nd HD.
20 States of History and Cache Level at 4.
It's a fairly new machine and I haven't done any maintenance as IT keeps it's permissions to itself and I have limited access to system. I don't think they do any maintenance. That said, it has been doing this from the start. I and my coworker got the machines and CS4 extended together and have experienced this issue right away.
I dump the Prefs a number of times during the week, because of regular slow downs with this. Overall I'm finding CS4 EXT is not as reliable as the regular CS4 I have on my home machine, which never unexpectedly quits or requires a dumping of preferences.
    Thanks again for the suggestion.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, owned for ages, licensing for this product has expired? Was using it two months ago.

    Hello,
I have been trying to get Adobe's help for over a month now. I've been on the phone twice to them, opened up three seperate cases and still arrived at no solution. I was bought Photoshop CS4 Extended awhile ago and use it for my studies (I'm an art student). Two months ago my harddrive on my computer failed and I had to have a new laptop. I went to reinstall Photoshop and "Licensing for this product has expired" comes up. I've uninstalled, inreinstalled many times and used Microsoft Fix It Programme for uninstalling to make sure all the files are gone.
Surfing the forums I learned that there should be a folder with back up and Adobe PCD but I don't have that folder at all. The serial number I use is my original serial number that I know works and adobe have even said it's a technical error. What do I do? College starts again in two weeks and I don't have the programme I use for it!

Try the License Repair Tool Adobe - Adobe Licensing Repair Tool
Other suggestions if this doesn't work: Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Windows
Also if you must uninstall, use the Adobe CS Cleaner tool, not the Microsoft one. Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • Can I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended on my brand new iMac? I had PS on my old Mac using the student licensing.

About four years ago, I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended while I was in undergrad. I downloaded it to my Mac. Since then, I've purchased a brand new iMac. Can I use this same software? I know it's been four years so the software is very updated, AND my new iMac does NOT have a cd drive. This may all be in vain. I'm just clueless! Thanks!

Emalexander89 you are welcome to install Photoshop CS4 on your new Mac.  You can download a fresh copy of the installation files at Download CS6 products.

  • CS4 extended. Capture One vs Photoshop . How can I be sure that photoshop use my Display icc  Color Munki Color Profile?

CS4 extended, OS10.7.5 . When I process an image in Capture One Pro  and then open it in Photoshop CS4 extended and compare to my original image in Capture I can see a big difference . ( Darker in C1 and flat in CS4)     I contacted Phase One and they said that the problem was probably due to photoshop who do not recognise my  Color Munki Display icc profile . How can I be sure that photoshop use my Display icc Color Munki Profile? Thanks !!!

    Hello Station_two,
    Thanks for you response.
Yes . that's what I did as I created an icc profile with Color Munki .
My problem is  when you look at the left image   ( Capture One )  and  the same images processed  and open in Photoshop ( Right image ) I can see a big contrast difference ...
Now, let's assume that photoshop work automatically with my icc Color Munki  in display panel , why the image in  Capture One do not look the same ?  Is it a question of setup in C1 ? In c1 ICC /Process recipe  I have Adobe rgb (1998)  selected....
    Thanks!

I am retired and an amateur Photographer using Photoshop CS4 extended.
If I take up Photoshop CC at £8.57 a month is this price just for a limited period and then it increases to £20 or something like that after a few months.

    Hi ,
it is a subscription which you have to pay every month to use the Photoshop cc

  • Which version of photoshop is compatible with my Mac OS X v.10.6.8? Should I use Photoshop CS4 Extended or CS5 Extended?

Which version of photoshop is compatible with my Mac OS X v.10.6.8? Should I use Photoshop CS4 Extended or CS5 Extended?

CS5 works fully on my Macbook Pro, but it all depends on your specs. If you have a newer MBP on SL, you should be fine. Photoshop isn't terribly demanding on the computer so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Whichever one you can get is fine.

  • Is it possible to use 3D objects in Flash CS4 for animation?

    Hi,
Is it possible to use 3D objects created in 3D Max, Blendor, iClone etc. to perform animation to make Flash Movie more realistic? Can I make nice animations like in iClone 4 Software?
If it is possible to use 3D Objects in Flash, please provide a sample Tutorial Link if you have any.

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended - cannot paint on .kmz files in 3D

Hello, ist there anybody who can help me with a special problem ? I try to generate my own 3 D Object in Sketchup but in Photoshop CS4 Extended ein cannot paint on this, even i can with 3D objects out of the Photoshop Library.
    Thanks a lot,
    alphaplanet2000

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay on the attachment. It looks like it cleared 'customs' and is no longer in the queue.
I used SketchUp 7 (7.0.10248) (not Pro), so you may want to update, but I did find some useful things.
This was just using a rectangle pulled up into a cubic geometry. If you use a solid color for each face, the export creates a unique map for each face. If you leave the geometry face styles undefined, the export will create UV mapping that overlaps. And if you use the tiling textures, you get really tiny targets which you can't paint at all (like what you saw).
To see the UV mapping in Ps, open a diffuse map and then go to 3D> Create UV Overlay> Wireframe. This will create a new layer and draw in the UV triangle mapping. For painting you want to see non-overlapping triangles, that are fairly equal in area, and openness (think triangulated squares). Tight angles, and small area makes for hard targets to project in clean pixels.
Hopefully this makes sense and helps.
    regards,
    steve

  • Transforming smart object in CS4 is good but .......

I have a couple of masked layers that are converted into a smart object.
I make a free transform of those and it works like a charm with my CS4 extended.
Now - I want to get rid of that transformation -
I was hoping that click on the " Not" sign or using escape key would do that , but nope - I get the same " accepting" result as with enter / return key .
Any advice how to get rid of the transformation thing/box without dragging box corner handles into image corners ( frankly that doesn't work either )
There is sure some nice method for this ...
I cannot see any context " reset " menu item either ..
    Thank you for any suggestion.

Yes you are missing something. What you've got is a decent feature request.. a way to reset an SO. But in reality it's not really something that any of the current commands
should do. Because in general you only want the
    last transformation to be undone.
Smart Object (SO) transformations aren't stored anywhere but in history like all actions. You can use undo (or the History panel) to revert a transformation, but only if it's still available. Which means, depending upon your preference settings, if you transform an object, any object, then proceed to complete 25-30 more actions, you can no longer go back to before that transformation. And, if you are to go back, you lose any actions you've taken since the transformation since history is primary linear. Of course, you can use the history brush to paint back in a history state, but I've never attempted that to get an SO back to before a transformation completed long ago.
In other words, undo.. if undo is not available, then replace the SO.
You can also reset some transformations by initiating a new transform on the SO, then reset the fields listed in the Control Bar manually.

  • Java3d - starfire: Where is my 3ds object?

I have made a simple application using java3d. I am able to view a pyramide that I have modeled using java. However, I am not able to see the 3ds-object I am trying to import using starfire. • Issues with Panarama's in Adobe PShop CS4 extended

Hi folks... probably an easy answer here but it has evaded me so far so hopefully someone here might know what is up.
I shoot up to 6 sometimes 7 (vetically shot) images for a pano in Raw.  I shoot vertically so I don't loose as  much sky or foreground.  I then pull the shots in using Bridge.  I open Photoshop CS4 extended, click on the pano menu item, select my images, choose the top left side choice and click on all three fixes bottom right under the window... and press OK.  Once PShop is finished the shot is set up as a portrait style with some images put together and some not.  I could have three beautifully put together up top then just below it only one shot and below that, the balance put together.
Why would this be in a portrait format when it is wider than deep?
    Why in pieces still?
Is there a limit to the shots needed to be used?
    Thanks  Kate

Chances are you simply haven't overlapped the shots enough for it to find the commonality between the shots - or something changed between shots.  I have had very good luck with Photoshop's Photomerge function if I overlap shots by about 1/3 each.
Is there water in your shots (e.g., with waves on the surface)?  That changes from second to second at the detailed level.
Could you make small versions of the shots that don't seem to want to stitch together and post them here?  I might be able to better help nail down the reason it's not stitching them after looking at them.

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended, issues with resolution and font sizes on Mac

I have Photoshop CS4 Extended, which worked fine on my old 15 inch Macbook Pro, I think it was 2011 and had high definition display.
I now have a new 15 inch 'late 2013' Macbook Pro with retina display (2880 x 1800), and OS 10.9.4
    I have 2 problems:
    1) Using photoshop now, the resolution is a lot worse than with my old computer, even though my screen is higher resolution.
For example, the images themselves are worse resolution on my display, far less crisp and more pixelated than any of my other programs. And even the windows such as 'save as...' screens are terribly pixelated also. Is there a way to fix this?
    2) When using the type tool, I cannot find how to change the size of the font. There used to be numbers which I could change, and also select the font type, both on the top menu bar always visible. Now there is not anymore. What there is there at the top, is what looks to be a bar on top of another bar. The top layer bar is on the left and reaches about one third of the way across the top, and I can drag it by its corner so it can extend more, but not less. It looks like there are things behind it which I cannot see, because it is over the top of them. Perhaps the text size and font options are stuck behind that. What can I do?
    Many thanks!
    Justin

Hi JJMack, you said "Seems like you want a low resolution display hook and external display to it." I do not know what that means. I did a google search for "low resolution display hook" and it came up with zero results. Also I do not have an external display, only my laptop.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue? I would greatly appreciate any solution.
    Thank you!

  • How do you make a 3d octagon in photoshop cs4 extended?

How do you make a 3d octagon in photoshop cs4 extended that you can map artwork to? I've been searched online for a solution that doesn't involve using a 3D program but can't find anything. Can't you extrude a shape like in Illustrator, or exporta true 3D shape from Illustrator that will work? I'd use Illustrator but the mapping thing is finicky, and doesn't alow wrapping images around angles. (now someones going to say: "Don't mention any other programs in a PHotoshop forum!" Yeah yeah, there should be a forum then about using different Adobe programs together.) End of rant, any suggestions much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Thanks for your prompt response!
    Suggested Bridge Update
It turns out that I got a message that this update had already been installed, which led me to more carefully look at the Bridge window and (finally) see that the Output module had a Quality dropdown: Full, 300 ppi, 150 ppi, 96 ppi and 72 ppi.  Thanks!  I decided to compare the CS4/Bridge results to those I got in CS2 with its convenient File/Automate/PDF Presentation/Multi-Page Document routine that I like.
My project was an 8-page PDF made from scanned pages of handwritten notes into which some fairly small type had been insert using the Photoshop CS2 Type tool.  In Photoshop CS2, I had settled on "medium quality" JPEG compression as giving a "reasonable" file size (about 7 MB) and "very good/excellent" image quality.  I experimented with making the PDF in Bridge, using all five Quality levels.  See table below.  The Bridge "good minus" file was about the same size as the file produced in CS2, which I judged to be "very good/excellent" and slightly better visually than the 300-ppi, 23.5-MB Bridge file.
    Bridge Quality:
    Full
    300 ppi
    150 ppi
    96 ppi
    72 ppi
    File Size:
    25.2 MB
    23.5 MB
    7.6 MB
    3.2 MB
    2.1 MB
    Subjective Quality:
    Very good
    Very good
    Good minus
    Poor
    Useless
I appreciate that you may not be all that interested in these observations, but it seems to me that Adobe has done us no favors in the multi-page PDF department in going from CS2 to CS4!
Install the Old Contact Sheet/Picture Package Plug-Ins
I had already done this some time ago, in order to get in CS4 the File/Automate/Contact Sheet II feature I liked in CS2.  It does not appear to me that this plug-in has anything to do with make multi-page PDF's.  Perhaps I'm missing something.
    Again, thanks for your response!
