Using 3G cricket broadband to connect Wii to internet??

I really don't know what I'm doing, can anyone offer any advice?
I'm trying to connect our Wii to the internet using my Cricket Broadband 3G USB modem, plugged into my MacBook. I've tried to create a network with internet on, and it won't work. Will not find the connection, even though the signal is full. The Wii can see my computer's network, but will not connect.
Is there something I'm missing, or doing wrong, or does anyone have any other way of doing this?
Thanks in advance,
Angelique

To gain Internet access for the MacBook Pro, you will either need your own Internet service provided by an ISP or access to another Wi-Fi network that has Internet service.
Your MBP has a built-in wireless adapter, called an AirPort Extreme Card. This adapter is able to connect to just about any Wi-Fi network available today.
If you opt to get your own Internet service, most ISPs will provide you as a minimum an Internet modem. Some also offer a wireless version of this device. For those that do not, you will also need an Internet router (wired or combination wired/wireless) in order for your MBP's wireless to connect.

  • Can Shuffle be used on a computer not connected to the Internet

Can Shuffle be used on a computer not connected to the Internet. I have access to an Internet connected computer to register but I would like to manipulate and recharge on a machine that is not connected. Thanks for any help you can provide.

As long as you aren't trying to update/restore it the Shuffle will work on a computer with no Internet access.

  • Can I use Apple Remote desktop to connect over the internet?

I would like to use Apple Remote Desktop to connect back to my MacPro desktop at home while I am on my Macbook Air at work.  Will I need a static IP from my service provider to do it.

    Hi
It's not absolutely necessary but it would be more useful if you did have one. Most ISPs will require you to have a business class broadband service at your home rather than a residential one. These cost more (a lot more in some cases) than a residential service. Call your home location's ISP and discuss it with them.
If the cost is too much then you could go for a DynDNS account which is free. The details of this account would be configured in the whatever you're using as a firewall at your home's location. This assumes the firewall has the facility to add such an account. Thereafter it's just a question of configuring the port fowarding feature of that firewall.
A potentially 'big' problem though is whether or not your workplace will allow that kind of traffic out of their network. This would be something you'd need to discuss with them first.

  • I don't use a proxy server to connect to the internet, but Firefox automatically configures itself to use the loopback address.

I have a direct connection to the internet and don't use a proxy server. Every few weeks, Firefox automatically resets itself to be configured to use a proxy server at the loopback address (127.0.0.1). Manually changing it back to "No proxy" works, but I have to do so each time I open the browser or even a new tab. The only fix I can find is to create a new profile which gives me a new, clean install of FF, but then I lose all my add-ons. This has happened repeatedly now and it's extremely frustrating. I have scanned for malware but have not found any problems.

hello rjlasser, first of all please make sure that none of your extensions is causing the issue (some youtube censorship circumvention addons also make use of proxies for example).
otherwise please refer to [[How to fix preferences that won't save]] for some common solutions.

Does anyone know if CS4 be activated on a computer which is not connected to the internet?
    Thank you,

Yes, but you'll need to activate by phone. You'll also need to download all the patches with a different machine and manually apply them.

  • Trying to use MacBook to connect Wii to internet

I just bought a Wii yesterday and I am trying to connect it to the internet so I can buy old school nintendo games. I have already spent way too much time on it and it won't work. The wii is recognizing the signal from my computer, but it will not pass the connection test. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
    I am running a MacBook 10.4.11 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
I have the internet coming into my macbook through ethernet DSL and it is being broadcast through airport wireless.
Again, thank you for your help!

Ensure that the firewall on the MacBook is disabled.
Unfortunately OS X's Internet sharing has no options. If the services required by the Wii aren't passed through, you will need to buy an inexpensive wireless router and use that instead of your Mac.

  • Connecting Wii to Internet

    Hello all,
I have been trying to connect my Wii to the internet. However, I am at college and getting it connected wirelessly won't work. I bought a Rocketfish LAN adaptor but that still didn't work. I have been reading about people connecting the Wii to there computer with an Adaptor to get internet!? Will this work in my case? Or is there an adaptor I can get to hook into my wii and then in a ethernet outlet in my room?  Is there any ideas you can give me to help me connect my Wii to my schools internet?
    Thanks!

the wii has built-in wireless capabilities as I'm sure you are aware so there is no need for an ethernet cable. From the home page on your wii go to settings, network settings, choose network type (wireless) then it will scan for networks and chose the one your dorm is connected to. Then test the connection. It may run through the settings for the network in which case just go with the defaults. If this still doesn't work, it's probably because your campus has safety features for their internet that are preventing you from using the internet on the wii in which case you will need to contact your resnet team and they will be able to figure it out.

  • I have trouble getting my new Apple TV 2 to work to the internet. I have an Imac with OsX 10.6.8 using a 3G modem to connect to the internet. I have a Time Capsule with Airport. I can't get the Apple TV to see my internet connection

I have an Imac with OSX 10.6.8 dual intel core.
    Apple TV 2
    Timecapsule
3G modem connected to iMac for internet access.
I have tied to get Apple TV2 to see the inernet but it does not seem to see the inernet connection either via the Airport network or even if I connect it directly with a ethernet cable to the Timecapsule or the iMac.
I have tired to set up Home Sharing but it doen't see the Itunes Store so no go.
I don't have wired internet but it is probably something to do with using a 3G modem
Any tips on how I can check if the TV coonect to internet and what to do about this problem?
I was trying to connect my HD TV earlier using a WiFi USB modem but it could not see my iMac. Apple Support told me to buy an Apple TV but that is not helping as I can't see anything there either.
    Regards from Michael

Thank you so much Paul_31 for your suggestions, HUGELY appreciate the effort
I have reset the printing system, a few times for good measure but nadda.
I have also looked at getting the software from the Apple site after seeing that with Snow Leopard you should let the operating system lead the install not the manufacteurers software as it is most likely out of date.  I too found it wasn't there so I uninstalled the software got up the CLX_3300 series stuff then went from there with the USB cable.  It apparently hasn't worked either
Unfortunately now after using the print utility to scan for a while that has now gone again on the last restart of the Mac.  I am so completely clueless
The box says the printer is compatible, the place of purchase said it was compatible, the Samsung site says it is compatible.
I think it's the set up of my Mac? Our maybe a glitch in the network settings?
    Thanks again

  • Not able to use software-update but still connected to the internet

Hi there , I am currently on 10.5.6 but did this upgrade manually. When I tried to use Software-Update it gave me : Cannot contact the update server. I am connected through Airport Extreme with my Macbook. My IMac is also on this Airport Express and is working fine (Included SoftwareUpdate).
However I can work on the internet and use Email with my Macbook.
Itunes is also not able to conect and my widgets are also not working.
Like I said: On my Imac everything works fine.
    Can anyone help?? please

There are several things to try.
First check what is installed. Go to Safari's Help menu and select Installed Plug-Ins. If you see this
    application/x-java-applet;version=1.3.1
then it is installed and the banking website is not interpreting it correctly.
Next, go to Safari Preferences, click Advanced, and select "show develop menu in menu bar". Go to the website and then, from Safari's newly enabled Develop menu, select User Agent > some other version of Safari. You can actually select whatever you want - perhaps the banking website is checking your browswer for compatibility.
If this doesn't work, download and install another browser such as Firefox or Chrome. Try the banking website with one of them. If it works then either continue to use it, or tell the bank to fix its problem with Safari.

  • I can't use my USB ports or connect to the Internet after downgrading from Windows 8 to 7

I downgraded my HP Pavilion p7-1534 desktop computer from Windows 8 to Windows 7 today with a Windows 7 Home Premium disk I purchased. I checked online first to see everything I'd need to do, including backing up all my personal files and information to an external hard drive and downloading all my drivers to a USB drive.  I followed online instructions and went into the  UEFI bios settings and disabled Fast Boot and Secure Boot and enabled Legacy mode.  Windows 7 finally loaded and it comes up.   However, my PC now no longer recognizes that I have several USB drives so I can't load my drivers. Also, I can't connect to my MediaCom cable Internet.  Does anyone know what I did wrong and what I can do to fix my PC?

    Hi,
Please install chipset driver including USB:

  • Using an existing network to connect to the internet

My Mac connects automatically to the wireless network in my parents house, but can not access the internet 'can not find the server'. The internt works fine on other computers on the network. On previous visits the internet has worked fine.
Has something been changed by the recent os x updates? Does anyone have any ideas? Interestingly my iPod Touch can not find a server either.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi, try this?
Yeah, sometimes an update will change things to their default settings.
Are you typing in the Name and Password to get into your network, if it's hiding it's name (ssid).
Make sure your not on the the neighbors network? At a wireless motel I stay at sometimes there will be three or four networks that show up and I can usually connect to a couple (no password) but I won't be able to get on the internet (password). I'm taking for granted that you can "see" your parents network name in the "Preferred Networks" drop down menu in the Network panel. Can you log into your parents computer to, say, if you wanted to transfer files?
Click on TCP/IP and compare this window to your parents computer. The only difference should be the "IP Address:" with only the last three numbers being different (other then "IPv6" which is set automatically).
If everything looks the same and your parents haven't had to reset their Router since your last visit which does put things back to their defaults, you might try clicking on the "Assist Me..." button at the bottom of the "TCP/IP" window and let the trouble shooter try it's hand at it. Try going to "Discussions"/"Computing Hardware"/go to what ever your "puter is and then go to "Internet/Networking" part and it should narrow it down pretty good from there.
For the life of me I know it's happened to me a few times but I can't put my finger on it, sorry.
    Have a Happy Holday...

  • I updated my ipad to ios 6.0.1 and from there on the issue started. At home I use the Wi-Fi to connect to the internet the wi-fi icon was the only icon on display. Little did I know I was also on the mobile date network Telstra 3G also, and there more

I'm rapped in my ipad, I work with it every day. It's so handy and I have a lot of fun with it as well; so that's the up side of it.
The down side is, emailing for some reason when I send a email. I get two copy's sent back to me and my iphone as well and the email don't get sent. My iphone and office 2007 and ipad are having sync issues.
I can't work the configuration with Icloud.
My ipad and iphone was working ok, I updated to ios 6.0.1  and than the problme s started with the iphone and the ipad.
There little issue will not stop me for updateing to newer models.
I need some help or advice, but there just too much to read on the web-site.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • I can no longer connect to the internet on my laptop using my personal hotspot. Stopped working all of a sudden. Any tips as to why?

I used to always use my personal hotspot and connect to the internet on my laptop. Then one day it stopped working. I updated my phone so my hotspot password changed, so I changed that in the properties. It now says it's connected to my iPhone and there's internet access, but when I try to do anything it says not connected.

It shows a connection. When using wifi n USB. I don't know how to connect using Bluetooth seeing what it says to do is totally different from my computer.
I do have a connection but I can only connect to some sites, I tried YouTube n nfl.com n they both worked but google, hotmail n Facebook said couldn't connect.
I tried using safari on my computer n like explorer I could only connect to a few different websites.
