Using 3G on E63

Seems a stragne problem. Everything seems fine when I am on the standard network but as soon as the phone shows the 3G symbol I get a message - something about not being a packet network (I can;t reproduce it at the PC as I do not have 3G here!).
Is there some setting that needs to be done to get 3G working correctly?
I went out this morning with the TomTom connected for traffic and it was fine outside the house but when switched to 3G signal the tomtom could not update!!
Any idea?

not only that, but 3g is much more sensitive in reception/transmission than 2(.5)g
there may be locations where 2g connection is great but 3g connection has no usable signal
and the 'signal quality/power' indicator on your phone doesn't mean nothing.

Lose of license to use quickoffice on my e63

jeff here,i'm using a nokia e63. I updated my quickoffice from the original version(the one that comes with the handset)to quickoffice premier 6. After some duration,somebody accidentally deleted the quickoffice license,so everytime i try using the app.,it tells me i don't have the license to use it. It then prompts me to purchase the license to which i have tried in vain.

Using phone mic while connected to external speake...

I want to use external speakers (the ones I use with my laptop - not Nokia, local manufacture) to hear calls and music but want to use the phone (E63) mic to talk.
When I connect the speakers I can hear the sound on the speakers but my mic gets deactivated.
Is there a solution to this?
PS. As soon as I connect the speakers E63 shows connect to a headset. Is there a way that it should change the enhancement to headphones or music stand?

when you insert headphone (3.5 mm ) jack into you phone, did your phone pops up any message (headphone, line out, music stand etc)? If not, reset yiur phone to defualt setting (factory reset and not soft or hard reset), and insert a normal headohone jack into your phone it should popup as mentioned above.
But this will not give other options when a defualt headset is inserted.

E63 mobile messaging unable to open.

I am using a Nokia e63. At first, my WhatsApp wouldn't open and my phone is really slow anyway. So I synced my contacts, messages, photos and videos to my Nokia Suite, then did a hard reset to my phone; the *#7370#. When it's back on, I try to use messaging but it won't open. Downloaded WhatsApp again and it worked fine. Synced all nicely except for the messages. Guess it's because the messaging won't open. What's wrong with it. Furthermore, there's also other software that is preinstalled when I got it that won't open but I don't use them anyway. But I need my messaging. So please help.
Also did the hard and soft reset again, still won't open. Got my friend to send me a text to see if I can receive it but I can't. So messaging not opening, not receiveing text, can't read texts since the program won't open. Is there a link or installer file I can download? Please help.

Hi,I am facing the issue of opening text message,any media file,data file like worksheet,whatsapp on my Nokia E-63 phone.I have been using the phone since last 2yrs and haven't faced such a problem.
Can you let me know what can be done in this case as I already tried removing the battery and switching off the phone but this couldnt help.

I have just update My Software(Firmware) using NOKIA SUITE just tommorow.
but now i couldn't Access internet using my NOKIA E63 Mobile.

Have you check your access point settings? You may need to setup your access points again. Also check the internet settings in the browser to make sure it is pointing towards a working access point.

E63 Packet data Access point set to None? What hap...

What happens when Packet Data>Access point is set to None(blank)? I tried to tether with my phone and I was connected to the internet for a moment. Checked my ip and it turns out it's through my mobile phone companies subnet.
However via the Bluetooth DUN setup on my computer I specifid a computer and login information which it seemed to ignore? Can anyone explain this strange situation?
The phone I'm using is an E63 GSM phone.

that will work. You only need to change if you need to have always on (highly unlikley) or if you are using modem dial up and need to specify access point for that.
If you using Nokia One Touch access then you don't even need to define access point in this menu as that application will take care of it for you.
All other network aware applications will use access point settings as defined in settings menu.

E63 owner ponders E72

I have an E63 which I've been using for a few months now and quite like. I have been wondering if an E72 may be a worthy upgrade or if there would be little point.
Predominately I'm thinking that since I've been making good use use of the E63 maps (bought a BT GPS) but they need registration yearly (only a few bucks) that navigatoin on the E72 would be nicer (and I won't need to remember the GPS, but won't hurt if I have it.
I have heard that the E72 does not support sattelite information as my E51 did and the E63 does.
I'm thinking that the higher data speeds and CPU on the E72 may also make skype via 3G nicer too. Does anyone here know?
Naturally I've compared the specs on gsm arena and looked at a few reivews. So just wondering if anyone here has any opinions they'd be willing to share.
Sadly after reading around it starts to look to me that the E63 is about the best cost/benefit phone and that the E72 has some significant bugs in it.

ok, well 3 days ago I took delivery of an E72 (type 1) which I thought would solve this question.
Here are som initial thoughts in no particular order:
did any of the reviewers ever have their hands on both devices (as they claim to have done)? If yes then they are often not very observant.
the predictive text on the E72 can not hold a candle to that of the E63. The E63 outshines it so much as to be truly a shame on the developers of the E72. The omission of capitalisation of i on the E72 let alone inclusion of ' in didn't is pathetic. Step backwards on that one
Data rates on 3G are stunning on the E72, as expected by specification.
Skype runs well on the 3G network, but I am as yet unable to find a version of skype which allows the front facing camera to be used. Thus the front facing camera is a bit of a "hip pocket on at T-Shirt"
Screen on E72 has much nicer colour range, and seems to be slightly better outside in the light of the sun
Optical navi key is pretty much what you read (and no I didn't like it much but thought it had potential). I thought this quote summed it up neatly
"I felt as if a swipe of the Optical Navi Key should trigger kinetic scrolling, a capability not built into the E72's operating system. The wish for kinetics makes sense when you consider that the Optical Navi Key is not effective for scrolling, unlike a continual press on the d-pad."
Keyboard is actually a weeny bit smaller than the E63, it is noticable when you've spent time on the E63
Unable to zoom in and look around the better images from the camera on the E72. Strange as the gallery on the E63 did this nicely with keyboard shortcuts too.
Maps do not navigate any better than those on the E63, and it seems (anyone have a fix?) the accellerometer does nothing in maps. Meaning that maps on the E63 with a Bluetooth GPS are just as effective. Time taken to get a sattelite lock is often longer than the drive there (read 45 minutes) while my E63 using the BT GPS just gets the lock in 5 or 10 min. Yawn
Perhaps version 3 maps is nicer for searching.
Message creation has less options when creating "new message" perhaps this is to help dummies, but I actually learned from the E63's menu that I could create and send an audio message with less difficulty than an MMS with an attached audio.
I do not know why in New Message on the E72 I do not get Create: MMS, only Message and Audio Message. This prevents me from attaching a subject to the MMS and thus using it more like an email to a phone via phone system. Poor oversight if you ask me
The E63 seems to automatically engage the recorder and save the audio file in the right 'codec' when activated from MMS
The mail app is nice enough and I do like the "look" of that mail client better than that of my E63's .. reminds me a lot of the E51 I had. Personally I use my mail as IMAP and do not really "keep" it on the phone for long. I then deal with it more long term on Thunderbird or on the corporate mail. Thus the clearing of the inbox (on the phone once mail is read on the main client) is to me a good thing.
configuration of browser keys is nice on the E72
hands free speaker is whimpy, even on flat surface or upside down. E63 wins hands down there.
Do not like the inversion of the physical feel of the one-touch keys. Prefer the top and bottom rows to be pronated and the one touch keys down.
WHY CAN'T THEY PUT RED AND GREEN COLOUR ON THE CALL AND HANG UP ... I will be using a texta on this from the underside asap
Just like the E51 I love the "breathing" light.
Don't care much for the side buttons for volume. If you happen to be left handed they don't work well. D ring works which is good.
Love that I can move icons around in their groups, that can't be done on my E63. It helps me to arrange things into an order that the apps which are not on my home screen can be found fast
Love the E72's scanner, works fine for most business cards. If you know diddley squat about how OCR works it is just a great system. If you don't know anything and its all "white mans magic" then you'll be frustrated and probably have problems.
Discovered that camera AF can be achieved without the optical navi by pressing and holding the main button till AF is acquired, then releasing the button to take the picture. handy.
Torch on the E72 is a legend .. much wider in spread and brighter.

E63 phone has deleted most of my contacts?

Hi all and thanks in advance for any answers.
I have a month old Nokia E63. It's worked fine up til now, but this afternoon I turned it off because the battery was somewhat low and on turning it back on again it seems that most of my contacts have disappeared. Only the two I entered most recently are left. Strangely when I go to my message inbox peoples messages are still named correctly, but their entries don't appear in my contacts list. Any diagnoses? This is rather frustrating.

Hi , I have the same problem.
To be exact two problems. In our company we have nine E63 users.
Two of them are so lucky to have a "random contact delete" isue...
Work around..
Copy all the contacts to the memory card..you don't have to remove the card.
When contacts get deleted..copy them back. and back.. and back..and back....
Done this five times to every user and now I am the one who is going to get deleted!
A little testing and I found out that,
...using a PC-suite backup from an "OK" E63 on a "BAD" E63 ( making a #... wipe first ) makes problems dissapeare.
...using the "BAD" E63 backup on a E71 makes it a "BAD" E71.
...tests for E75, came up funny. The E57 is immune to these problems
But if you make a backup from this "ok" E57 and use it on the E63..you better copy your contacts to the memory because you guest it ! they will get deleted again.
I'm in the proces of copying contacts,sms...from the "BAD" E63, one by one and saving it in *.csv files, I will the wipe the phone and copy the data back...keep the fingers crossed.
I will update the results..

Bug on E63 ActiveNote ???

After this has happened again and again, I am sure I did not push a wrong button. I write long note by using ActiveNote on E63. Several times, I use the copy and paste (Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v). It is very often, after I use Ctrl-v, ActiveNote just exits without saving; all the things I have edited (after the last saving) are ignored / lost. Has any user been suffered by this ActiveNote's behaviour? Thank you.

SOLUTION for me (October, 29):
After all you can guess I did, I solved my problem:
1. Go to Finder/Preferences panel
Uncheck everything and restart.
2. Go to Finder/Preferences panel and check what you want.
If any item does not appear on the Left Panel you would like, pass the mouse over the item and check SHOW.
This problem occurs since Lion and now Mountain Lion with no solution.

How to install ovi suite to a drive other than C:?...

how to install ovi suite to a drive other than c:??? my c: drive is almost full with other partitions perfectly free to install it, how do i do that? can i use previous versions of ovi suite to use with my e63? at this point, i'm unable to use ovi suite at all, because there's no room to install it on my c: drive.
allllllllso there's one more thing, when i originally had tried installing ovi suite on my computer i had more than 1gb free. after installing it i on'ly had 500mb free. i had only intended for it to use a very small amount of space, and since i also use my c: drive for virtual memory i quickly uninstalled it, looking for an option i'd maybe skipped over while installing it the first time. no luck. anyways, when i looked in the add/remove programs control panel the installed size of ovi suite was only 40-50mb. even after uninstalling ovi suite the extra memory space that seemed to all of a sudden taken up by the installation stayed used.
when looking at the file sizes of everything on my hard drive, (including system files and paging file) there is still a descreprency between the amount of memory used and the size of all files total on the drive. at this point im quite disgusted and disapointed in ovi suite as i'm mostly unable to use it to connect my phone to my computer and i'm also having problems with the CA101 cable as well. i guess i'll have to go check for another cable.

Hi ostrenga4, sorry to hear about your experiences.
When installing Nokia Ovi Suite to PC, Windows makes "system restoration points", which are available to restore operating system to previous condition, if something goes wrong, for example in driver installation.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
- Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
- Start Windows Command prompt
- From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
- Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
- This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
- Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)
As you can see, this is possible, but it is very much recommend to have enough space for installing software into system drive.

Adobe reader not working. Can anybody help?

I am using a Nokia E63 device. Adobe Reader came preloaded in the device. I recently formatted my phone and when i backed it up, my pdf files won't open. Whenever i try to open any pdf file it says 'unable to open file!'. I tried accessing the Adobe Reader application directly but it dosen't respond.
I also tried downloading new adobe version i.e. Adobe Reader LE v2.5 it worked fine but it is a trial and i can only use it for 6 days. It asks for a key and i don't know what shall i do.
Can anybody plesae help me in this matter.

Try toggling this setting on then off. Are you sure the case you have has the magnets that are compatible with this feature. Also with the setting turned on you could try a Reset, hold down the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time for 10 seconds, the iPad will then perform a reset.

Pc to web or pc suite.

What's up everyone,
I was wondering if copy and paste was a supported feature in the facebook app cause I'm not able to copy the contents of a message. Also having trouble deleting messages. I've deleted the app and restarted the phone and still the same issue. Thanks

Haptic / vibration feedback on a keyboard or T9 ol...

I am hoping someone can help me. I am currently using my trustly E63, which is great...but it is getting quite old now and I would like to get a new phone. So, today I went out and tried a few phones new phone from different brands. Ideally I want a Nokia because I have always had them since the 3310 came out.
Most of the phones I tried were touchscreens and most vibrated whilst texting. All except the Nokia Lumia's I tried, namely the 820 and 920. Can this be done because I spent about 30mins with the tech geek in the carphone warehouse and neither of us could find it.
Secondly can a T9 old style 12 button keyboard be used, I could live without the vibration if I could get this. The other Sony phone I tried could do both but I really wanted to stay with the Nokia brand.
Any info or help on this would be great as I want to get a new phone in the next month or so.

The only option available to indicate that a key has been pressed on the keyboard is for the phone to play a sound. Also, there isn't a T9 keyboard option available as default. There are however some downloadable 3rd party alternatives but they do not fully integrate into the OS so probably are of no use to you.

Problem with apps installer

i'm using a Nokia E63 and m havin a problem wit its application installer. It doesnt install .sis or .sisx app files. Every time i try it says that the file is corrupted. I even tried installin some apps that i had installed before nd the same thing happened.
I cant even remove any .sis or .sisx apps that are installed in my phone.
But i can successfully install and remove java apps.
Is there a solution for this? 'cause if i cant use .sis apps on ma phone then its totally useless.

backup the whole phone through ovi suite and start from restoring factory settings *#7780# (def security code is 12345) then if that doesn't help format the phone with *#7370# or 3-finger reset. turn phone off, hold down * + 3 + green call key + power button until the handshake (you can release the power button after the phone has turned on, and make sure it asks you to select your region) and try to restore the backup.
try to Install a sis file afterwards.
