Using 8520 abroad

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 pay as you go on Orange. Will I be able to use it when I'm abroad in Canada?
Many thanks

Good afternoon and welcome to Blackberry Forums.
I am currently with Orange however don't possess a BB8520 however, I checked my account and by following the appropriate links found the the BB8520 does work in Canada. If you are on pay as you go and have an account set up with Orange you can check this yourself, it will also give you a list of prices should you wish to purchase any particular bundle and prices per text, minute etc etc. I only travel within Europe and thus always turn off my data services to prevent large bills on my return and therefore access the web, e-mails etc by wifi from the hotels in which I stay. Hope this assists?

  • HT201328 after unlocking usa/att iphone 3gs ,  how to use it abroad with a foreign company simcard and service?

has an old iphone 3gs that was not in usage for awhle.  I called ATT and had it unlocked officially. After resetting it here in USA  I gave it as a gift to someone to use abroad  with forign sim card and phone service.
However, at the foreign company office they were told that USA iphones can not be used outside USA.
    Is that true?
So How can they   use  it abroad?

I'm fairly certain you should be able to use it abroad if it was unlocked by AT&T.
Did you restore it as a new phone and get a screen that said something similar to "Congratulations, your iPhone is unlocked"?
If so, it should work on just about any GSM carrier, though the other person would want to make sure their carrier supports the iPhone. I was able to use my US iPhone 4 in London just fine.
They may not have full functionality for data speeds outside the US, but that's the only issue I can think of. And I don't think that would affect the 3GS since it can't use anything faster than 3G anyway.

Apple does not unlock phones. The carriers do. Once unlocked the phone can be used with any SIM that will fit in your phone. Contact your carrier.

  • I want buy Ipad Wi-Fi 3g in Canada Apple Store. Is it have micro-sim slot for using 3g abroad?

I want buy Ipad Wi-Fi 3g in Canada Apple Store. Is it have micro-sim slot for using 3g abroad? In Ukraine being exact.

    Lets make it clear.
The thing is i know that in the US Ipad 2 Wi-Fi+3G Verizon goes without any slot for micro-sim. So i won`t be able to use 3g abroad.
In Canada store they don`t give no required carrier.Does it mean that Ipad 2 Wi-Fi+3G from there has a micro-sim slot and is ok for using 3g worldwide with local carrier?

  • Setup problem - using 8520 as modem

    Hi,
I am following the instruction here to setup my device (unlucked Curve 8520, with AT&T)
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05196
At task 2, step 7, I can not input any character in the Extra initialization commands field...
Can anyone give me some hind to proceed? Thank you so much!
Moreover, I followed another instruction and had another problem
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-guides/2019-user-howto-use-blackberry-modem-laptop.html
At step 8, I check my "Standard Modem Properties"  - Diagnostics - Query Modem, and got something seemingly incorrect:
    AT+FCLASS=? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
    AT#CLS=?    COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
    AT+GCI?    COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
    AT+GCI=?   COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
I feel the two issues are not dependent. Please help me resolve them. Thank you so much!
    Sean

Which version of the Desktop Manager are you running? If you're running 5.0.1 can you try to use the IP Modem option to setup the modem?

  • S_ARL_87012357 when using plants abroad

    Dear SAP experts,
when I activate plants abroad functionality, I have a company code in CH with plant abroad in BE. I created a PO to a German external supplier and used my plant abroad in BE as the receiving plant. All went well.
However when running VAT return report S_ARL_87012357 with reporting country BE, so the country of my plant abroad, the report shows the VAT registration of the company code country and not the VAT Registration that the Swiss company has in reporting country BE where I created my transactions. Tax codes are correct. What do I need to change in the system to display the correct VAT Registration?
Thanks a million for any help.
    Kind regards, Maria

If I don't want any data / network charges when using my 5800XM abroad for Ovi maps, do I just make sure that only "Integrated GPS" is selected in Positioning Methods ?
You are correct in your assertion. The WiFi/Network positioning method introduced in OVI Maps v3.04 is Nokia's interpretation of the similar Maps Booster application which utilises the Skyhook network where WLAN access point is logged geographically. Essentially the more users whom add data the more accurate the system becomes.
You can of course use "Roaming warning" in OVI Maps here:

  • Using N95 abroad, help?

    Hi,
I got my N95 about a year ago, and last summer I took it to France with me.
While I was there I couldn't connect to any of the French networks. All of my mates could with their phones but the N95 just didn't want to allow me to.
Is there a setting you have to adjust or do you have to notify your service provider if you want to use your phone abroad?
I'm going to Finland a week today and need to be able to make phonecalls while I'm there!
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks
    Rob

you need to notify your provider in most cases.you may be told to rome on a specific network when your away you can look at your network settings and either manually choose the network or the phone will select one.

  • Dummy profit center when using plant abroad functionality

    Dear all,
We are customizing plant abroad functionality for one customer. I have done that before for other customers but all other customers do have profit center on material master data and therefore no dummy profit center posting in the plant abroad flow.
My new customer do not have any profit center on material master data and are normally using profit center substitutions to get correct profit center on the postings. In the plant abroad flow we will have the same amount posted both as a credit and a debet to the same account (we have chosen account 309999) so the total will be 0, but we do not want to have postings on dummy profit center.
I tested to create a substituion in financial accounting in transaction GGB1 and on line item level, with prerequisite saying: When account number is 309999, profit center should be 11010. But I still get posting on dumy profit center?
    Anyone that can help me?
Thank you very much in advance!
    Regards, Åsa

    Hi
Use Exit PCA0001 - EXIT_SAPLPCRW_002 (SMOD) for substituting PC on any line item

  • Using BT abroad

Why is it no longer possible for me to access my imail when I am out of the UK. Why did you change this now I can only access when I go into the bt website.

    Hi linda28,
I think there has been an issue with using an email-client (ie Outlook, or iMail) to access your BT Yahoo mail whilst abroad for some time.
However your emails should be accessible when using the BT Yahoo Webmail interface here: http://mail.yahoo.com
Hopefully another community member will be able to give you more help into this problem as I haven't really tried to view my BT Yahoo emails whilst abroad.
    Cheers

  • Using Xoom abroad

I just purchased a wi-fi / 3G Xoom and I am curious if I will be able to use the wi-fi abroad or if I will have to tether to a global phone.

Wifi works wherever you are. I made a trip not to long ago with a wifi capable phone sand wifi is wifi. In general don't expect any 3g (or sky other data) coverage, but wifi is wifi.

  • Using BB abroad

    hi
i am going to portugal next month, i was wondering whether i will i get charged for using phone with picture messages, sms and apps such as 'whats app' with my normal tariff and the internet tariff i pay monthly, will they add anything else on (O2)

when you go abroad, you must ask O2 to activate a roaming plan.
that roaming plan must be detailed by you:
1 roaming voice plan (ie phone calls will cost you more than if you were in UK, wherever your correspondent it)
2 roaming data plan (MMS, and applicaiton data like WhatsApp or WML)
that data roaming plan means that for every single data you use, you will be charged by O2 (even for BBm).

  • Using iPhones abroad?

I am considering buying an iPhone -- I'm from the US but I live and work abroad (currently in Uruguay). I just have a few questions.
--if I buy an iPhone in the US, is an AT&T contract required, or can I just purchase the iPhone itself without any obligation to AT&T wireless?
--will an iPhone purchased in the US work overseas with the SIM card from an existing wireless plan? Uruguay uses the at 850mhz.
--if the iPhone won't work with an existing wireless plan in a foreign country, will it still work to access the internet in wireless hotspots?

--if I buy an iPhone in the US, is an AT&T contract required, or can I just purchase the iPhone itself without any obligation to AT&T wireless?
Yes. The AT&T contract is required.
--will an iPhone purchased in the US work overseas with the SIM card from an existing wireless plan? Uruguay uses the at 850mhz.
No. iPhone purchaed in the U.S. can only work with SIM card that comes with it.
--if the iPhone won't work with an existing wireless plan in a foreign country, will it still work to access the internet in wireless hotspots?
Well, the iPhone needs to be activated with iTunes b4 you can use the wireless.

  • Using powerbooks abroad

For the last two months I have been using my PB on an ungrounded socket. I guess this explained the mysterious vibration running through the hood when it was plugged in.
According to the repair shop in New Delhi is was because of this that the adapter shorted out.
Could some one with experience using their PB in India or Europe give some advise on what sorts of devices one could buy to protect against this kind of thing? Are there devices one can buy to create a ground?
I used Apple's Int. two prong adapter, but I guess this wasn't enough. Also, when I borrowed a friend's adapter, hers was also shorted out.

    Powerbook 17" 1.55 Ghz 2 gigs RAm   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

jamead is absolutely correct. You can use you BlackBerry in wi-fi and will be able to use BBM, email, twitter and browse without incurring any additional cost.
    Enjoy your BlackBerry abroad...
