Using a Alltel Moto Q as a modem through Bluetooth

I've used a Moto Q as a modem on our PC for the past few months and I just got a new Macbook Pro. I've done some research and I installed a PDAnet software on my phone from our PC, but I couldent get my mac to read the software, but it is installed on the phone. I can get a bluetooth connection but I cant my network thing to connect...im using the exact same info from our PC but Im not sure how to use bluetooth to connect. I usually use usb on pc....but usb does not work on Mac im thinking, and i dont know if im supposed to activate the modem or what...im confused..its just not working.
please help

I'm struggling to do the same thing with my Nokia E71, despite various guides across the internet.
However, http://www.fibble.org/archives/2007/10/updated-modem-s.html looks as if it might be of some help to you. The modem scripts included with OS X are often outdated or limited, so custom ones have appeared. This is all the more frustrating when it's possible to package modem scripts into iSync plugins.
Best of luck,
Jamie

If your carrier supports the personal hotspot feature and you pay for a tethering plan, yes.

  • Can I use the Airport Express as a cable modem?

I am trying to set up wireless internet in my home, and I am planning to purchase an Airport Express. Can I use the Airport Express as a cable modem, or do I have to purchase a modem from the ISP and then connect the AE to the output of the cable modem?
    Thanks,
    Adrian

No, the AirPort base stations do not perform the functions of a DSL or cable modem, so you will still need to acquire one.

Thank you for the answers so far, but I'll make one correction: I said earlier that the Boston Globe website, boston.com, does not have a mobile site, and I would need to visit their regular website on my iPhone. Actually, I just found out that boston.com has a mobile site, so I'd obviously use that instead of the regular site. By doing that, I'd save a ton of data (I think). Does that change your answers?

  • Using iPhone as Modem via bluetooth within Win XP

can any one help me configurating my PC settings getting iPhone working as Modem via Bluetooth within WinXP ...

Does your XP computer support Bluetooth? Are you using a carrier that supports tethering (AT&T doesn't, for example)? If both of these questions were answered in the affirmative, you should be able to connect your iPhone to your PC either under Settings or in the "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard" on your computer. Also, ensure that tethering is enabled in your Settings app.

Because of my area I use my old Nokia 6121 classic as modem for internet through PC Suite.  Have now upgraded to the C2-01 which says it has PC Suite but cannot get any connection to the computor.  In other words it is not registering a connectivity between phone or computor.

You will have to upgrade to Ovi Suite, which you can find here

  • Using My Nokia 6500 Classic as a Modem

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how can I use my Nokia 6500 Classic as a modem? I believe it is through PC Nokia Suite, but I am not a techy person at all. Any help will be much appreciated.
I am quite new to this on-line forum. So, apologies if my question has already been answered!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

PC suite is only for pc/laptop you can't install it on your handset. One can only know if his/her packet services are configured properly & been included in the contract by using it like gprs. wap etc. Some provider downloads the configuration automatically once the sim card is activated for others its manual. The only way to know it, is to call T-mobile & enquire about it. When you have installed the pcsuite, then the hand set & pc are connected, & then  you try to connect to internet by clicking the icon, if your packet service are not properly configure it will give an error of "no packet service are available".
Knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted!
If you find it helpfull, it's not hard to click the STAR..

  • Is there an app that allows me to use my cell phone as a router/modem?

I am new to the iPad/Apple world, and trying to learn as much as I can.  Is there an application that will allow me to use my cell phone as a router/modem?

Depends on your phone.  I phones and most droid smartphone will act as a hotspot.  Check yours out.  You will need your carrier to agree.  At and t  does tethering from an I phone for $20 per month.  You don't need an app.  If the phone produces a wifi hot spot the pad will see it, and you are good to go.

  • Using the latest firmware. My WRT54GS (connected through...

Using the latest firmware. My WRT54GS (connected through a LAN cable) seems to randomely disconnect me from the internet for no apparent reason. For some reason, it can't find the DNS even though my cable modem shows that a connection is there. The only way I can get it working again is unplugging the router, reconnecting the, going into the router status menu and hitting DHCP release, then DHCP renew.
I'm not sure whats causing this though. Any help would be appreciated.

My GSv6  will function perfectly until my cable ISP decides to change my WAN IP address.   When they do that the router will drop internet connection  and I have to go throught the reboot process for the modem and router.  Sometimes this works and all is well again until the next ip change, but other times there are still sporadic outages.
