Using a Bluetooth modem and mouse together?

After much messing around I'm now able to use my T-Mobile Motorola W-490 as a Bluetooth modem with my 500MHz dual USB G3 iBook through a Bluetooth USB dongle. I'm using it to post this message actually. For some reason it won't work without Bluetooth, using just a USB cable to connect the computer to the phone. I guess I can live with that.
My question is, why can't I use any other Bluetooth device, including an Apple wireless mouse, or even the flash drive inside the W-490, while the modem is connected? Is this normal? When the phone isn't being used as a modem I can use its internal flash drive and a Bluetooth mouse together at the same time. My Bluetooth dongle is Bluetooth 2.0 even though the other devices are Bluetooth 1.0 I think (?) I'm new to Bluetooth, so any help would be appreciated.

You need a Bluetooth dongle or built in Bluetooth. I couldn't get it to connect through a USB cable.
Call T-Mobile and subscribe to their additional $20/month internet plan.
Wait a couple of days for T-Mobile to turn on the internet on your phone.
Download and install the "Motorola 3G CID1" modem script so Mac OS-X will recognize the phone as a modem.
Make the phone discoverable to other Bluetooth devices.
Setup the Bluetooth device with Bluetooth Setup Assistant.
Setup a new modem in Network preferences.
Show the new modem, and under the PPP tab set it to dial telephone number: "internet2.voicestream.com"
Under Bluetooth Modem select modem: "Motorola 3G CID1"
I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Write back if you have problems and maybe I'll remember more. You can call T-Mobile and ask for their Mac technical person. I shut off T-Mobile's internet service because it wasn't worth the extra $20/month to me. It's faster than a dialup modem when used as a modem to allow a computer to access the internet. The W490 phone used by itself to access the internet is unbelievably, mind numbingly slooow. (pulling hair) I'll probably have T-Mobile turn the internet back on when I go visit my mom, who doesn't have any internet connection at all. I'll shut it off as soon as I get back though. It'll make a nice way to get e-mail without driving down to a cafe with wireless. If you travel a lot this might be an affordable way to get your e-mail. It's much more affordable than a dedicated 3G modem, but it's also much slower.

Macbook pro does not respond to bluetooth keyboard and mouse at login screen

i've seen this question floating around and i don't think i've found one that has been resolved. i'm hoping someone may have an answer by now.
i do not have this issue when i boot into windows 7 (bootcamp) the macbook pro responds to keyboard input and mouse input immediately on the windows 7 login screen. when i boot into mac, there is no response from either. i've seen suggestions of waiting for 30 secods. i still get nothing after waiting for over a minute.
what i do right now is use the built-in touch pad and keyboard of the macbook pro to get past the login screen. once i'm logged in, i can see that the bluetooth devices are not yet connected (the three dots that go across the bluetooth symbol at the top right of the screen are not yet there). then after a while, maybe about half a minute, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse are connected and i can use them normally.
it is not a big deal but it is very annoying.
i am using a logitech bluetooth mouse (v740) and an adesso bluetooth keyboard (wkb-4000bm). i also tried an azio bluetooth keyboard and had the same issue. all these keyboards are made for mac.

just a correction, the keyboard and mouse don't always automatically reconnect once i'm logged in. most of the time i have to go click the bluetooth icon at the top right of my screen, select the mouse and then select "connect". i have to do the same to the keyboard.

To be able to use the mouse and keyboard to full effect, such as key combos on boot and all the mouse buttons, its best to install the drivers from the cd that came with the mouse and keyboard.

N8 Which bluetooth keyboard and mouse ?

I've had a n8 since last october and am ready for a keyboard with a mouse included or maybe a seperate mouse. I do like the idea of a small control I can use that could be the mouse for remote starting and stopping a movie I play via hdmi.
I did see a ovi app that could control the playing of a movie via a Wi remote. I do like this, havn't tried this.
Which bluetooth keyboard and maybe bt mouse do you reccomend ?

I quite like standard key spacing so I don't have to relearn to type.

does it survive the eventual coffee spill ?

A bluetooth keyboard can be used with the Apple TV.
There is no need for a mouse with an ATV.

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse - kills my on board trackpad and keyboard.

I have a problem with my on board mouse and keyboard, as they dont want to work due to the bluetooth devices i have paired.
When i restart the MacBookPro only wants to see the bluetooth keyboard and mouse, so i cannot use it without them now, i have tried many fixes but have had no joy.
Any pro's have advice please?

Multiple bluetooth keyboard and mouse

I will be using 4 Mac mini's with bluetooth keyboard and mouse at a trade show in a convention center. Will the bluetooth devices have any issues being placed next to each other, if not what is the setup procedure?

I have never done anything like the process you describe. However, I think the BT devices will only pair with one system at a time.
Frankly, I think I would test everything before I set it up at the show. I would also have a wired KB and mouse available - just in case (voice of someone who has had live presentations go poorly!).

New to FiOS, can I use my own modem and router

I saw several questions similar to mine, but none that I saw answered my question for my scenario. I am sorry if this is a duplicate. I am new to FiOS. I have no other services from Verizon and do not plan to get any. No phone, no television, nothing. Just Internet. God willing, the installation will take place in two days. My house already has coaxial cabling. I have my own cable modem, a SURFboard SB6121, which goes to my router, a TP Link TL-WR941ND. None of my equipment advertises that it is FiOS compatible. I've seen other people asking about using their own modem and router, but in those cases the scenario involved other bundled services, and I understand a FiOS router is necessary to forward ports to television, phone, and computers. However, in my very simple scenario, can the Verizon optical network terminal simply feed its output to my coax, from there to my modem, then router, then comptuers? Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Verizon technical support just gave me a machine that wanted to help me troubleshoot my Internet connection, and I couldn't get from there to a human. Thanks in advance for the help!

Banish the word and the device called "modem" from your home when using FiOS. FiOS does not use modems. Your cable modem is useless with FiOS. Do not plug it in. FiOS uses routers. The router connects to the ONT's WAN port using MoCA (coax) or Ethernet. The installer will enable one of the ONT's WAN ports. If you order 150Mbps or higher speeds, they will have to use Ethernet. For slower speeds, coax is the default. Many installers will use Ethernet if you ask nicely, but usually only if it isn't too much work. Make sure it's easy to connect a router to the ONT using Ethernet, and you should be okay. If Ethernet needs to be run through the walls, your best choice is get it done ahead of time. You can always call later and get the ONT's WAN port switched. The only routers available with a MoCA WAN port are the Verizon models. The Verizon routers are good devices for most users. People who like to tweak their networking gear don't like them as many advanced features are limited or locked down. You can't run any other router firmware on them. WiFi range is decent, but not great. I'm quite happy with my Quantum router. YMMV. If you get Ethernet WAN enabled, you can use any router you want. However, know that Verizon provides zero support for any other router. They won't even mention it as an option. That doesn't mean you can't use one, simply that you must do so without Verizon's help. There are reports that they won't even complete an install without one of their routers to verify service. If you don't use one of their routers, consider renting one for a month to complete the install or even buying a used one. If you own a Verizon router, you can install it if you ever suspect Verizon networking issues. This will allow you to call their support. The Keyboard and mouse work great with the laptop lid open but when closed in the docking station the bluetooth signal does not seem to transmit. Is there a setting that can be changed to allow an Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to wake the computer while docked?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

Yes I did get to that part.... I went trough external to retrive itunes folder... When I selected the folder, it said that it was locked, choose another folder... I then went to my external again to my itunes folder and and used command I to see if folder was locked and it wasn't.... it was suggested on another forum to reboot.. which I did and still same problem... All I want to do is link my external hard drive that has my itunes playlist from another Mac to my new one.. and to also use the external as the main source for adding new songs to my playlist...

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse will not connect

I loaded a linux iso on a usb. Loaded it on a reboot. It may have been corrupted or something, because it did not load correctly. I rebooted the computer again and now the bluetooth keyboard and mouse will not connect. How can I fix this?

Have you tried reading the many other posts on this forum that talk about this issue? It seems that by default the services are not enabled for some peripheral devices. Try right-clicking the bluetooth icon, selecting "show my bluetooth devices" (or similar i dont ahve it in front of me), then right click the keyboard/mouse, go to the Services tab and make sure the services are enabled.
