Using a color rendition chart

Someone just emailed me a TIF scan of an printed image with a color rendtion chart next to it. The chart is "Farbkarte #13" from "B.I.G."
Is there a way of utilising this within Lightroom to ensure I am seeing the scan correctly? (Monitor calibration notwithstanding...)
(I'm entirely amateur and have never used a color rendition chart for anything before. Go easy.)

You really aren't helping the OP with the question posted. Film photographers have been using an 80% reflectance gray card for years to help set white balance in the final print. The same procedure can be used very successfully for setting the white balance in a photo editing application such as Lightroom or Photoshop. We now have far more sophisticated tools for not only setting the white balance, but also creating complete camera profile for use in Lightroom. The most notable and affordable is the ColorChecker Passport manufactured by X-Rite.
My recommendation to the OP is to go ahead and "try" the white balance procedure I posted using the LR eyedropper tool. It should work better than "nothing at all!"
I also suggest putting a hardware monitor calibration device high on your list of important items to purchase for your digital imaging workstation. The ColorChecker Passport would be a nice but distant 2nd item on your list. For establishing white balance an inexpensive 90% reflectance card like the below is all that is necessary:
DGK Color Tools Digital Grey Kard
Shoot the 90% card with your digital camera for standard lighting conditions, such as Sunny Daylight, Cloudy, and Indoor Tungsten Lighting. Make sure the card is not over exposed (i.e. between 80% and 95% in LR) in the picture. Then use the eyedropper tool to determine the proper white balance settings in LR for your camera, and save them as Develop Presets. You only need do this once, and it is clearly way better than nothing at all and not expensive!

  • My numbers 3.1 will no longer use multiple colors in charts

Until recently I was able to have 3D Column graphs with a different color column for each column - it seems that no longer works.  If I click on the chart color type it only works in one color.  Also, I used to be able to change the color of the font below the column.  It seems I can no loger do that as well.  Anybody else have this problem or a work around?

Do you have only one series in your data?  Try Edit Data References and toggle Plot Columns as Series <--> Plot Rows as series (lower left in Numbers 3),

  • Change default colors of charts

    Hello everyone,
is it possible to change the default background color and fonts color of charts? I know about changing the line colors (which I have already done according to our corporate design), but I did not find anything about setting background colors by default. We have two different themes (a dark and a bright one) and I don't want to copy the charts just to apply different colors to it.
    Thank you in advance
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I understand that BI 11g, gives some standard colors to the chart (The first preference might be blue ;) If I remember correctly). However, say you would like to change the color of the chart to green, I think we cannot directly override its color. Instead we can take a approach of chart options based on position at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/e10544/creatingviews.htm#CHDDEFEF
As per the above link, we can give custom color to the bars based on the order they come up. Like in a group, 1st one blue, 2nd one green, 3rd yellow etc.
So if you have only one bar per graph, use this setting to specify the graph color using position =1
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • Define own colors for charts in BW 3.0b, is it possible???

    <u><i><b>Referes to BW 3.0b</b></i></u>
I have another short question concerning graphs.
Bex gives a fixed set of optional colors for charts, however I need some other colors in order to fit with the given style guide.
I know that it is possible to use a picture, however I am looking for a way in order to define my own colors for charts.
    Anybody got an idea?
    Greetings,

The problem is that I do not have a color column....
I can choose a color in the chart designer and I also get to the same option when using the wizard. <i>I am not sure if it is the right wizard as I have never used the wizard for chart editing before. How do you open the wizard to edit an already existing chart?</i>.
In all the menus I can't find any place where I could add RGB. I have my RGB code and everything, I just need to enter it somewhere, so no external tools needed.

  • Difference between Background Color and Wall color in Charts

    Dear Experts,
Can anyone please explain me the difference between Wall Color and Background Color in Charts and how they behave?
    Regards
    Sam

    Hi
You can cleary notice the use of Wall Color and Background Color in case of 3D Bar /3D Area/3D Line/3D Surface charts
Wall color -> color of the Wall in case of 3D Bar /3D Area/3D Line/3D Surface chart.
Background Color --> Chart Background Color

  • Printer is no longer printing accurate color renditions!

Our printer is a C7280. We completed the Extended Self Test Diagnostic to check the color renditions.  All colors including black come through perfectly on the test.  When we copy page two of the test pages, the black copies as charcoal and the two magentas copy with approximately 50% of the color.  Both magentas are very light.  We have replaced the ink cartridges and there is no change.  All color print commands (other than the Diagnostic Test) through our computer result in very poor quality pictures that are mostly blues and greens.  The blacks are acceptable although not the best.  What do we do next?

You seem to have marked your own post as "This solved my question."
One other thing: You either used the "Ask your question" field on this discussion board or you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum.  In either case, you typed a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject.  In the future, use the "Start a discussion" link on the right, then just type a short summary of your post into the first (subject) field, then type the whole message into the field below that.

    Hi
    - use condition for defining colors in your chart.
    - Create a mock legend using text boxes.
    Hope this helps!!!

This tool employs a gradient adjustment layer. In the layers palette, double click the layer thumbnail, not the name.
Then, double click the gradient bar to bring up the gradient editor.

  • Book Module Lightroom 4 -- can I use a color picker to pick a color from a photo to use as the backg

I am trying to match a background color for a page in a Blurb book using the Lightroom 4 Book Module.  Is there any way I can use the color picker to pick a color from the photo to use as the color for the background and as the type color?  I see the color box for these situations, but the color picker only seems to work with the color array that pops up and doesn't go to the photo.  Any suggestions?  Am I overlooking something very obvious?

    It works for me.
The usual Lightroom way: click the eyedropper onto the color palette first, then hold and drag to your photo to sample color.

  • How can I use the color adjustments interface that shows up for camera RAW on jpeg files?

How can I use the color adjustments interface that shows up for camera raw on other files types? The HLS controls had the secondary color adjustments (6 colors instead of the 3). Plus, it had same vibrancy and a better Curves interface. Yesterday was the first time I imported raw into Photoshop CS5 and I got that really cool interface. What is that? Can I use that on other file formats?

Actually I am using the Tradional Chinese Version, when I try to edit the jpg file with camera raw, the system shows that there is no camera raw plug-in. The cmaera raw never work.

  • Using flex 2.0 charting components with flex 3

I purchased and installed a flex 2 charting components
library so i could use it in my AIR application development. It
installed alongside the 3.0 beta visualization components so that I
now have two copies of each component in my charts folder. I can't
see how to ensure that the right library is used so that the charts
actually appear when i run my app. I'd hate to think i just threw
away $300 so any help would be greatly appreciated - .

Are you using Flex Builder 3? Flex 3.0 beta Data
visualization components are available as part of FB 3 only. You
can select either 2.0.1 hotfix 3 charts (consists of only
charts.swc) or 3.0.0 data visualization (consists of
datavisualization.swc). through multiple sdks feature of FB3. For
flex 3 beta, flex 2 charting key will work. so if you want to try
out new features in charts and new components like Advanced data
grid you can switch to 3.0.0 sdk and use same flex 2 charting key
    to remove watermark from charts.

  • Can Acrobat X Standard create PDF files from Microsoft Word, using "CMYK" color (required by most book printers) instead of "RGB" color?

I'd like to purchase Acrobat Standard if it will let me control the color space used in the PDF it creates.  I need to send a color file to a commercial book printer, and they require the PDF file to use CMYK colors, not RGB.
Will Acrobat Standard do this, and if so, how?  Or do I need to get a different Adobe product for this task?

  • How to use Item value in chart query

    Hi Folks,
I am looking to use calander item value in sql query used to populate flash chart. I tried with following query where P2_DATE1 is the calander item name. This says no data found. I am not sure if I am missing some thing with BUTTON settings which I am using to put data into chart.
Select null "link",to_date(entry_date,'dd-mon-yy hh:mi:ss') "Time in GMT", to_number(load_avg_5,'99.99') "Load Avg 5 Min" from oracle_ocm.top_load_avg --where trunc(entry_date)=:P2_DATE1
    I am new to APEX
    Please help

Here are few things for you to try:
Hardcode the value and see if it works. "where trunc(entry_date) = to_date('01-May-2010', 'dd-Mon-yyyy')". If it works, then click Session link at the bottom of the page, and check the value of the item P2_DATE1. If null, then you have a problem. If not null, please ensure that you use TO_DATE function as shown above with proper format mask.
    Good luck.
