Using a different ring tone for a forwarded number

I have 2 numbers, my iPhone and then a Google Voice number that rings on my iphone.
Is there a way to have them ring with different ring tones? I think the answer is no, but I thought I would ask.
thanks
bob

I am having a similar problem. I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to a 5S. I set up my new phone with a different Apple ID than the one I used on the old phone. I originally bypassed setting up iCloud and everything worked fine until I upgraded to the 8.0.2 OS. Suddenly, I was being asked for a password to an Apple ID that I don't remember setting up. I am pretty sure that I set up an iCloud account with this ID but have forgotten the password. Also, whenever I go through the process of trying to change the password my birth date is not recognized which means according to this ID I don't exist. The Apple ID I set up for the new phone works for the Apple Store and I am able to download upgrades and apps. However, whenever I reboot my phone I am prompted for the password I don't recognize to sign into iCloud. Then, when I hit cancel a message appears saying that "photos for the iCloud account "iCloud" cannot be accessed. Review your account information in Settings."  When I press on Settings I receive the prompt again for the password. The ID I don't recognize is an @iCloud.com which suggests I must have tried to set up an iCloud account with a different ID and have forgotten the password.

Is it possible to set different ring tone for different email accounts?

No - but you can change the sound for the email the notification in the settings .... Settings>General>Sounds>New Mail> and select another sound from the list, but that will use the same sound for all of your email accounts.

how to set up different ring tone for Facetime

I don't think that on an iPhone that FaceTime has a separate setting, you can only set a ringtone (which will apply to phone calls) via Settings > Sounds, or set different tones for different contacts via the Contacts app - but you can't have a separate sound for FaceTime

  • CCM 4.1(3)sr3a different ring tone for different line

    Hi there,
I've got a dual line 7941 phone and would like to configure different ring tone for each of the lines. eg. I've got ext 100 and 101 on my phone. i would like the phone to ring differently when a call comes into 100 and 101 so i can know just by the ring tone which number has been called.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers,
    Jesminder

    Jesminder,
Unfortunately ring tones are configured at a phone level. In order to do this you need to go to the phone, push the settings button, select ring type. From there you will get a menu. Line 1 of the menu is the default ring. Line 2 and on corresponding to your line numbers in order. So if you want CallManager line 2 to be a different ring tone then you will select line 3 from the ring type menu, it should have the extension number next to it.
There also might be a way to set it via the web interface. You would want to post in the Ip Communications - Ip Phone services for end users forum.

  • How can i set up different ring tones for email accounts?

    Hello all,
I have about 6 different email accounts on my iPhone.  From exchange server (work email) to my personal yahoo and google accounts plus my personal business account.  Is there a possibility to set up different ringtones for each of the emails separately?
I monitor my email very closely as I work for a 24-7 emergency call center and I would like to have a way to differentiate my emails by the rintone assigned to them.  My work email goes off all the time, but i can't tell which is which and I hate picking up my phone or stopping what i'm doing for just a junk email.
Also would there also be an option for high priority emails to have a different ringtone as well?
thank you so much for any info on this as this has been driving me crazy.

  • Set up ring tones for family won't work

Anyone have this problem???  I set up different ring tones for my 'family' - I was told I did set it up right, but for some reason it just does the default ring when those people call.  (Default for me in the 'old phone' ring)....  I called Apple and phone was 'reset' etc., they will call again today :-(  I love my iPhone and do miss my old ring tone i had for them.
    Any help thanks!

Thanks. I did see that troubleshooting guide and went through most, if not all, of the steps.
I neglected to mention in my original post that my home computer is a Mac. When I set up the iPad on the PC at work, I did tell it not to sync at that time because I wanted to wait and sync it at home. Now that iTunes on the home computer doesn't see the device, I can't figure out how to change that...

  • 6220 Classic - ring tones for individual contacts ...

My partner and i both got the 6220 classic at the same time.
On his phone he can select a contact, then options and scroll down to ringing tone and have a different ring tone for each contact or group. When I do exactly the same, it says under the contact name that their ring tone has been changed, but it still plays the standard tone. Despite saying that each contacts ring tone is different, it just plays the same one for each.
Is there a setting somewhere which we've missed? Can't understand why it works fine on one phone but not on the other.

Nope, not currently... but hopefully that change is coming in an update.

  • I set a Special Ring Tone for One of my contacts and now I want to set the standard tone again. How can I adjust the iPhone to always use the standard tone?

I set a Special Ring Tone for One of my contacts and now I want to set the standard tone again. How can I adjust the iPhone to always use the standard tone?

Yeah, I did. But if I go to settings and change the standard ring tone again, the ring tone for that special contact is still the old standard tone. But I want to 'tell' my iPhone/iPad that this contact should always have the standard ringtone from settings.

  • Differentiate ring tone for internal/external call

how to differentiate ring tone for internal call and external call?
    rgds,
    walad.

    Floyd,
Those parameters were changed in 4.1 CCM. I don't believe they are going to affect Ring Type but could effect CFNA or CFB settings.
?Use the Call Classification field in the Cisco CallManager Administration Gateway Configuration window to configure H.323 and MGCP gateways with the option for OffNet, OnNet, or Use System Default.
?The default value for H.323 and MCGP gateways specifies OffNet.
?The default value for intercluster trunks (ICT), or trunks other than SIP trunks, specifies OnNet.
?In Cisco CallManager release 4.1, Call Classification replaces the H323 Network Location, MGCP Network Location, and MGCP Network Location OffNet for E1 and T1 service parameters.
?To configure trunks and gateways, the administrator can use the Call Classification clusterwide service parameter and choose the Use System Default option for the individual trunks and gateways.
?By default, the service parameter specifies OffNet.
?You can also configure trunks and gateways individually.
?The system considers FXS and phones to be OnNet; you cannot configure them.
The only way that I know of to achieve what you want is dual-line. Ring settings can be set per line or a default for the phone. You could use a unique inbound Gateway CSS with a 2nd line on the phones just for inbound calling. Then you can specify the ring on the phone to be different for the second line.
There is nothing in 4.1 and below (again to my knowledge) that will allow for distinctive ring per call. You should double-check the 4.2 and 5.x release notes to make sure there isn't a new feature though.

  • How can I create a new ring tone for my iPhone 4?

How can I create a new ring tone for my iPhone 4? I followed the Garage Band process and ended up with the ring tone I want as a AAC audio file. It got stored in my iTunes a a song rather than a ring tone. How do I make it a ring tone vs. a song? I tried dragging it t the Ring Tone category at the bottom of the ITunes list, but it won't alloow me to move it?

There's also an easy to use Applescript over at Doug's Applescripts for iTunes. It automates the whole thing. All you do is set the start and stop time on a file in iTuens and run the script. It will do everything else.

  • Does iTunes still offer ring tones for iPhone?

Does iTunes still offer ring tones for iPhone? I cannot seem to locate it on the web site.

    Yes.
Some songs available via the iTunes store are also licensed to be sold and used as a ringtone. You can use the iTunes ringtone creator to create a ringtone for your chosen segment of a song that is also licensed to be used as ringtone.

Where am I suppose to place them on the phone so that the system will find them
After you click to choose the ringtone, you'll see the pre-installed ones listed, at the bottom of that list you'll see "Browse music..." choose that and navigate to where you saved the other tunes.

  • How can I use Family Sharing for Store purchases if I use a different Apple ID for purchases?

A key feature of Apple's iCloud Family Sharing is the ability to share store purchases with invited family members. However, like many people, I use a different Apple ID for iCloud and Store purchases (ironically, primarily for the exact purpose of sharing among family).
Can I use iCloud Family Sharing to share purchases if I use a different Apple ID for Store (iTunes, App Store, etc.) purchases?

Sorry, let me clarify. I have two Apple IDs A and B:
A: Used for iCloud. All my calendar, mail, contacts, and other iCloud features are here. This is the ID I use as "the" iCloud on my iOS devices and OS X machines.
B: Used only for purchases, on all my devices and machines. This is what I used to log into iTunes, or to buy apps for iOS or OS X.
The issue is that the only way (currently) to set up Family Sharing is to invite from an iCloud ID (A, in my case) on an iOS 8 device. That's not the ID (B) I use for purchases. The question is whether there's a way to share those purchases given that I'm configured on all my devices with A for iCloud. (Clearly if I somehow send invitations from B, I can share purchases; but that's not the question.)
It sounds like the answer to that question is 'No'.
If that's the case, how do I invite from B? Do I have to configure an iOS device with B as the iCloud ID? My problem isn't that I want to ("willy nilly") avoid inviting form B; it's that there seems to be no way (certainly no convenient way) to do that.
