Using a Flash exe

Is it possible to take a Flash program (exe) from a CD and
put them on a website? I was given a CD with an interactive flash
file with video and asked to put it on our website. The file on the
cd is an exe file that auto runs. THere is a folder titled data
that contains some swf files as well as the flv files. I do not
have the original fla files nor do I have all of the swf's.
I am a novice to intermediate level flash designer.
Thanks

  • Some web pages causing 100% CPU use of iexplore.exe since Flash update

I'm having a problem with certain Amazon.com pages hanging my
Internet Explorer 6 using Flash Player 10,0,12,36, causing 100% CPU
use for iexplore.exe and requiring me to End Task to quit. All the
pages effected have an interactive mouseover Size and Color chart
that intially says "Loading" but then says "Select Size and Color"
once loaded. One mouseovers the various color patches and size
options, each time giving item availability in that option. When
the pages hang the IE browser with 100% CPU use that chart never
gets to the "Select Size and Color" point, instead stuck at the
"Loading" status. This happens most times, but not every time.
Sometimes the pages load correctly, after a brief lag as it loads
    the chart.
Amazon pages without this chart load fine.
The start of this problem coincides with updating Flash.
I can prevent the problem from happening almost every time if
I can quickly get my cursor into that chart area while the page
begins loading. If I allow the pages to load fully with no
interaction they will hang almost every time.
I have not noticed any problems on those same web pages using
    Firefox using Flash Player 9,0,124,0
I also have not noticed any issues with other sites using
Internet Explorer either. (YouTube, QVC, CNN...etc, all OK.)
I had posted for assistance on the Experts Exchange site and
there was some debate on whether the chart was a Java or
Flash-based chart, so initially it was being approached as a
possible Java issue, so I removed all Java versions on the system
and installed various versions, but the same problem persists.
I've downloaded but not run the Flash Uninstaller, as I'm
reluctant to uninstall the Firefox Flash version without knowing
for sure I could install 9,0,124,0 again.
I've downloaded an archived fp9_archive.zip, which seems to
indicate the contained files flashplayer9r124_winax.exe (Internet
Explorer) and flashplayer9r124_win.exe (Netscape) would be versions
9,0,124,0 to install after running the uninstaller.
Can anyone check a few of the links below and see if the
"Select Size and Color" chart is Flash based? If so, would
executing the files listed above install 9,0,124,0 into my
    respective browsers again?

  • Flash Uninstall by using MSI vs EXE

    Hello!
I would like to know the difference between the flash exe
installer and the msi installer. why should anyone choose one above
the other? we observed that the exe installer uninstalls the
earlier version and installs the latest. the msi installer doesnt
uninstall the earlier version but installs the latest though. is
there any way how we can have the msi uninstall the prev version?
    thanks in advance,
    Ganesh.

There are other files that do not get removed when using the Flash Uninstall routine.  I recently had problems viewing videos on www.msn.com site.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player, but that did not fix the problem.  There were files in the "Documents and Settings" folder that were corrupted.  I contacted the MSN Customer Support group and they were able to help.  The exact location of these files for a PC running XP is:
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player
To fix this problem on a PC running Vista Delete the files at:
C:\Users\ YOUR USER NAME \AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player
After you have deleted the files, restart Internet Explorer and browse back to http://videos.msn.com, When you return to the video site, the Flash player will recreate the deleted files above with default files.  This should resolve the issue. Please note: If on your PC the issue remains, an updated version of MSN Video is scheduled to be released that will solve the problem in late June, 2008.

  • Flash .exe or swf files will not play on Vista

I decided to learn how to create captions for flash video,
using CS3. I tested this project and it worked fine. I could just
double-click on the app or the swf and the captioned video played
fine on my Mac. I only had Flash (CS3) on my Mac, so I created the
    files there.
I then published an exe to move over to my Vista machine.
When I double-clicked on the file, it brought up Flash Media Player
version 9, but only showed a blank white box. Very frustrating.
After some research, I read that Windows Vista was not
compatible with Flash Media Player 9. Only 10.02xxx or later (I
forget the exact version - it was long) was supposed to work with
Vista. Since CS3 uses version 9 to pack into the executable (PC) or
app (Mac) projector files, I thought maybe this was the problem.
So I downloaded the demo of Flash CS4, thinking this version
would pack version 10 into the projector and this would solve my
    problem.
While the CS3 version of my saved flash video project would
open in Flash CS4, it would not play when I tested the movie inside
Flash CS4. It would just show a skin at the bottom of the video
player only (with a play/pause button), and it had moving blue bars
on the skin like it couldn't really load either.
I then decided to create the whole flash video with captions
from scratch under Flash CS4. This time when I tested the movie in
Vista, it worked fine. When I published either the projector exe or
the html/swf combination, it worked fine. So proudly (and finally!)
I sent the exe over to my boss. But..... you guessed it. The Flash
Media Player 10 that started up when the file was double-clicked
just showed a blank white screen again!
So then I moved the exe over to another partition to test to
see if there was some dependent directory pathway saved as part of
the flash video file. The exe wouldn't play on the other partition!
So I thought I was onto something. I then tried moving files that I
thought the exe might be dependent on (although isn't the point of
a projector to be stand alone?) to the same directory on this
partition as the flash exe projector file.
I ended up moving the captions.xml file, the swf files (flash
video player skins included), and the html file that the swf file
is supposed to be embedded in. NOTHING worked.
I even read that someone with this problem saved his Flash
CS4 file as a Flash CS3 file before he published it, and that
worked for him. So I tried that too, but with no joy.
So I am totally stumped. Does anyone out there have advice or
    even a solution?
    Much Thanks,
    Chuck

  • How can I script a Flash .exe file to always stay on top of all other windows?

    Hi All,
I'm new to action script, and I just need this one script
    > How can I script a Flash .exe file to always stay on top of
    all other windows?
Basically what i want to do is have a flash-created
step-by-step instructional movie, but for the movie to remain on
top of all windows so the instructee is able to follow the
    instructions on-screen...
It would be preferable to not have to buy another product
just to do this... as I said, this is the only scripting I need.

  • Opening external pdf from flash exe

I've looked around the site and I havent found anything
    refering to this.
I'm creating an Interface in flash which will browse through
a list of pdfs. This interface will be published on a CD-ROM for
    distribution.
How do I launch the pdfs directly from a link in the flash
exe? Since it is not playing within a browser I can't use getURL.
It's been years since I've had to do this, and the last time
I used the fsCommand to launch an exe file created in Director
which would in turn open the pdf file. I'm hoping there is a better
    solution.

  • How to get Flash exe to play before video on DVD-Rom

I have created a DVD, in Encore, with links to PDFs. Of course, when they click on the link to the PDF, it tells them to play the disc in their DVD-ROM player. For the computer side of the disc, I have created a Flash file that looks exactly like the DVD menus, except it will open the PDFs. When I put the DVD into a computer, it always opens the DVD video first. I would like it to open the Flash exe, first. Opening the DVD video will probably confuse the user since it will tell them to play the DVD in a computer DVD-ROM player, which they already are playing it from the PC. I have an Autostart file. Is there something else that I need to do, to get the Flash to play first, or is this a setting on the computer? Thanks for any help you provide.

Use autorun.inf file burn it with your cd/dvd
    File contents
    [autorun]
    open=flashfile.exe

  • Flash exe. won't close

    Hi,
I have a bug in my Flash cs3. After I close the program, it
is still running. What I mean is, if I check task manager (Ctrl,
Alt, del) Flash.exe is still running. Also, I can no longer re-open
Flash unless I end the process in task manager first.
Anyone else have this problem or a fix for it?

Hi doghouseJim and Kalisto. thanks for the assistance. I am using Windows XP and my code does not involve what you mentioned.
Even from a fresh reboot and just launch Flash CS4, without opening an existing file or even creating a new file, exiting from Flash CS4
will also cause this problem. The application will exit but the window container will not, please see the attachment. I have to kill the
Flash.exe process from the Windows Task Manager.
Hope this can be resolve as Adobe seem unable to assist.

  • How to convert Flash EXEs to run on a Mac?

The government where I'm working has distributed DVDs with teacher's guides and course materials to teachers and volunteers working on a new environmental education project.  When I loaded the DVD into my Mac, the DVD title showed up under "Devices" in Finder windows, but it was grayed-out and couldn't be opened.  (I had to go into Terminal and use "drutil eject" to get it out.)
Today I tested the DVD in a Windows laptop and it worked without any problems.  The interface is composed of Flash EXEs.  I can access all of the other files on the disk -- PDFs, PPTXs, &c. -- but they're all in one directory and not always well-named.  I'd like to be able to use the interface to access the files when I present to my students.
Does anyone know of a program I can run to convert this DVD of Flash EXEs into something useable on my Mac?  I do have access to a Windows laptop, and I was looking into DVD-to-ISO programs this morning, but I don't know if that would solve the problem of the interface being Flash EXEs.  Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you

Unless you have the .swf files, I don't think you'll be able to simply convert the .exe files.  However, have you looked into running Windows on the Mac using a virtual machine?  If this sounds reasonable, check out the following links:

  • Changing background color in a flash exe

    Hi folks,
I am trying to change the background color in a flash 8 .exe file that seems to extract setup variables via an xml file.  The xml file reads as follows:
    *?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?*
    *settings*
        *min*10000*/min*
        *max*10119*/max*
        *exclude*
            *range min="12" max="14"**/range*
            *range min="16" max="18"**/range*
        */exclude*
        *putbackin*false*/putbackin*
        *titletext**![CDATA[*font color="#000000" size="60"*TEXT*br/*TEXT*br/**/font*]]**/titletext*
        *errortext*ERROR: no more numbers*/errortext*
    */settings*
I had to replace the < > parentheses with * to get it to display here.
When I run the application the flash application reads the above xml file and sets the variables require for the program to function.
Can I set the background color via this file or is it impossible to do without editing the original flash exe file?  If it can be done, then where do I insert the code?
    Appreciate any assistance.  Thanks.

It is hard to say if the tag...  <backgroundColor="white">  is intended to be the data defining the  background area color, though you could try different colors and see.  Since it is using "white", I'd suspect you have a very limited set of options--normally it would be specified as a hexidecimal value: 0XFFFFFF.  Try changing it to "back" just for starters and see if anything changes to your expectations.
If that doesn't change what you wish, then you would likely need to edit the original source file to get something different.

  • Embed flash exe in a director exe

I have a Director project programmed in 2004 with Macromedia
Director MX 2004 that is a standalone executable program. The
client has sent me an asset he wants embedded in the program that
is itself a Flash .exe program. Is it possible to embed an exe in
an exe? Any Xtras or is this compatible with Director 11 (which I
don't have yet). Any help would be great.

Typically, you would embed a Flash .swf file into Director,
    not the exe.
I don't think you can embed an .exe into Director. You can
    make the
other exe open in another window using the open command, but
    if you need
it embedded in the director file, then it would need to be
    swf.
