Using a  Funai Blu-ray Player w/ Built-in Wi-Fi & Smartphone Streaming

Can I use the  Funai Blu-ray Player w/ Built-in Wi-Fi & Smartphone Streaming to stream baseball games from my iphone to the tv>

Only if there's an app that can get you the game and that supports that player. The native AirPlay video streaming works only with an Apple TV or with computer software such as Reflector.

You could connect a FireWire Blu-Ray drive and use non-Apple player software.

  • Connecting my blu ray player to FiOS router/modem for Netflix streaming

With the proper connections, my Blu ray player can stream films from Netflix.  How do I go about connecting my Blu ray player to the FiOS equipment?  Has Verizon provided me with both a wireless router and modem?  Is the Verizon wireless router already connected to a modem with a LAN cable?

  • Share files on Time Capsule with wireless Blu Ray player?

We're looking at getting a Blu Ray player with built in wireless to take advantage of Amazon Prime streaming and Hulu Plus. Star Trek; TNG remastered on Bl Ray also promped me in this decision!
We already have an AppleTV and tried jailbreaking to get access to Hulu and Amazon, but the hack caused numerous issues, so back to stock it went.
I have also started ripping all of my DVDs and importing them into iTunes, but with a baby in the house it's REALLY an issue to always have a laptop open and running whenever we want to watch one of our movies. I've looked at a number of Blu Ray players that include DLNA capabilities, plus file sharing via SMBA and UPNP. My question is, will the Time Capsule serve up those files to the player? I tried DLNA shares directly through our Samsung HDTV before and it just did not work.
Does anyone have experience with a make/model of Blu Ray player playing nicely with a Time Capsule and/or an additional storage device attached to a Time Capsule?
I have also read that I absolutely, positively do NOT want to go wireless, but to use Ethernet instead. Our TV is clear on the other side of the house from the modem/Time Capsule so I'd have to pull at least 100 feet of cable to make that happen. I don't think there's any conduit into the attic at the front of the house either, since the cable box comes in in from the exterior wall, so it could be a real job. Any thoughts on that?

There are no media players in the TC whatsoever.. it is completely dumb box.. and is unsuitable as a media centre.. it is not even a file store, as it has no way to back itself up.. it is a backup target for Time Machine.
If you want DLNA you need to run a computer of some sort and use a player that can read the files and play them directly.. ie no streaming.
On the wireless to other side of the house, I do think you will have issues. Ethernet is still far superior solution and if you own the house consider it an investment in future usage.
But for now Ethernet Over Power adapters can offer superior performance to wireless and far better reliability. They are not without issues, so buy from store that offers no questions asked return.. and don't bother too much with super fast ones.. the 200mbit/s are already well above what is reality. You cannot use them on power boards generally so you also might need to think of ways around that.
If you do get stuck with wireless the TC is slow.. 2.4ghz is only 130mbps.. and range is not great. I would recommend a different device like ubiquiti router that offers high power and long range.

  • Blue Ray Player Burner

I was wondering if anyone had been able to use an external Blue Ray player on their MBP? If yes, what brand, where was it purchased and does it work well?

External (or internal, for that matter) BluRay drives do work with the MBP, but for data only - and that requires 3rd party software (i.e. Toast). You cannot play 'commercial' BluRay movies on your MBP.

  • HDTV with built in Blu-Ray Player

I posted earlier and the subject was incorrect.  What I am looking for is a flat screen tv that I can mount on the wall that has a built in blu-ray player.  I see many tvs that have built in dvd players, but I want the blu-ray.

I have not seen any units with built in Blu-ray.  IMHO such combos are far inferior to seperate player/TV.  Shop very carfully, the tradeoffs to get the blu-ray to fit in the TV chassis are significant, and often eliminate many options that you might want.

  • How do I use my Airport Express with a Blu-ray player?

Hello, first post, long time lurker. Have a question, hope someone can help me
I have an Airport Express V 6.3, currently I have it set to 'Join a wireless network' and its connected wirelessly through a Netgear router that is located on the 1st floor, I'm on 3rd floor by the way. I've been using it for airtunes, but I recently received a Sony Blu-ray Player and would like to connect it the airport express via ethernet cable.
What do I have to set up on the airport express to be able to give the blu-ray player internet?
I've noticed many threads here about airport extreme connected to express...so they weren't too helpful

Welcome to the discussion area, mareithree!
You'll need the 802.11"n" version of the AirPort Express to be able to "Enable ethernet clients" and connect the DVD player. Unfortunately, your older version of the Express does not allow this type of feature.

Can I connect my Apple TV to the Blu-Ray using an HDMI/ USB adapter?
If you can find such a thing.  I really doubt that exists since USB is a data connector not a video connector.
would allow me to run the audio through my stereo.
That would depend on this adapter.

  • Can i use the apple tv3 to connect a blu-ray player to the internet through the ethernet port?

I Have a blu-ray player which can access teh internet but only through a wired connection. Unfortunately, do to some renovating a can't really pass a wire from my router to the player. I was thinking of getting the express base station and hooking up an ethernet cable and getting it to connect that wy. However, for just an extra 10$ i can get teh apple tv and started to wonder if it would do the same.
Anybody know if i connect an an ethernet cable between my blu-ray player and apple tv3 if it will be able to connect to the internet?
    Thanks for you help!

Your blu-ray play can't play to your AppleTV, neither using a wired connection or wi-fi.
AppleTV only support compressed format.  Therefore, your AppleTV require your content to be within your iTunes library and on the supported format; http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs.html
There are however wireless devices on which you can plug an HDMI cable.  I don't know the price of such wireless devices but you'll find them on the net.

  • Using cable modem with blu-ray player

I just had FiOS installed.  I have a Samsung blu-ray player that's too far away such that wi-fi is not reliable.
Can I use a cable modem to gain access hard-wired?  Since the STB has an IP address I take it I should be able to split the coax, feed it to a modem and then on to my blu-ray payer's CAT-5 port.
If this is possible what modems are compatible?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Your idea is sound, but instead of a cable modem what you need is a "Moca Adaptor". Something like THIS* . And when you split the cable, make sure that you use a high bandwidth splitter. Something like THIS* And then all should be good.

  • I'm in the process of creating a WiFi network from my IMac to my LG HDTV.  I am incorporating a LG WiFi capable Blu-ray player and will purchase an Apple Express or Apple Extreme router. I need some advise on using this aquipment.

I need help in determining the best way to create a WiFi network from my IMAC to a WiFi capable LG Blu-Ray player that will connect to my LG HDTV.  Since I will only need one network I need to know which is the best Apple Airport router to use (Express or Extreme).  What is the correct way to connect these units?  It seem self explanitory, but I'm checking my thinking.  My HDTV is about 20' from where the airport router will be installed with a wall between them.  Has anyone created this network?  Is this the best way to create a WiFi network?

  • Trying to use a Blue ray player on my iMac...

I own a sony blue ray player that i am trying to use as my dvd player on my 27 inch imac.  I have a mini display port to hdmi cable that is supposed to work.  It is plugged in but when i press the command+f2 button either nothing happens or i get a beep.  What do i need to do to make this work?

    Hey Scottfromnorthport,
Out of the box you can burn and read Blu ray Data discs.
I'm guessing this is not what you are after.
I'm guessing that you want to watch Blu-ray Movies.
OSX does not support this natively how ever there are 2 solutions.
VLC 2.0 has basic Blu-ray support it can be found here VideoLAN - News
Mac Blu-ray player found here http://www.macblurayplayer.com/
Which ever route you go down. It's not quite as seemless as you would hope.
It still feels a bit clunky. and needs a fast processor although you should be good.

  • Stream to blu ray player using E3000?

I have an E3000 with an external hard drive attached via USB with several movies saved on it as ISO's.  Can anyone assist me in trying to figure out how to stream a movie to my wireless blu ray player, Sony S580.  I was able to stream the iso to a netbook attached to the LCD tv by using VLC on the netbook.  The only videos I can access on the blu ray player that are on the external hard drive are home videos I converted to DVD quality before uploading, they're not HD.  I can access pictures and music on the blu ray from the external hard drive as well.  I tried converting an iso to MVK but was unable to access/find it using the blu ray player.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Steps to stream a movie to my wireless blu ray player
    1. Make sure PC, wireless router, TV, and Blu-Ray player are turned on.
    2. On the Blu-Ray player, go to My Media.
    3. If you haven't previously configured your network on the Blu-Ray player, you will be prompted to. It will search for a network, choose yours, enter the password (if router is secured), and you'll be connected.
    4. Now, the computer will be scanned by the Blu-Ray player for shared folders. Pick the folder (most likely the only folder available for picking) that you put your movies in. Your movies will be displayed in a list for you to choose from, simply pick one and watch!
