Using a iPOD nano in combination with a iPOD video

I am using for a while a iPOD video that contains a copy of all my CD's. As I would like to run without breaking the hard disk, I have bough a iPOD nano 3rd gen. When I connect it to the PC, he has got the same name of the iPOD video.
How can I diffenriate them to store only a few CD, podcast, ... on the nano?
Thanks in advance

The solution is to rename the iPod by double-clickung on his name in iTunes.

  • Can I charge a new iPod Nano 8 GB with a iPod Mini charger?

I gave my wife an iPod Nano (black, 8 GB) for christmas. After christmas we discovered, that there is no charger, it only charges when you connect it to a computer.
Unfortunately that is not how she uses her iPod. She doesn't use a computer. I pour her favorite music into the iPod, and that's it. 8 GB is more than adequate - she doesn't update the iPod frequently. Her last iPod (a Mini) had the same music for more than a year and a half - untill she lost it.
So ... I guess I could buy a charger for her. Og bring my Powerbbok home every night just to charge her iPod.
But we have the charger from her lost iPod Mini. Does any of you know, if we can use that? The charger has a firewire plug and the cable is firewire in one end and the other end fits perfectly in the Nano. However, I am afraid to fry the Nano.
    The charger says 12V .67A
The print on the iPod Nano reads 5-30V 1A Max.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

Yes, you can use the charger (and cable) that came with the mini to charge the nano.
    Cheers!

  • Ipod nano not working with my Ipod / Itunes setup

I have just bought a 30 GB Ipod and set this up on my Dell Windows XP computer. This works fine and I have been able to synchronise the majority of my music with it.
At the same time, however, I bought my daughter a 2 gb nano. This I cannot get to work on the same computer, even though it recognises it as a different source. It won't let me set up a specific playlist for the nano, or manually add music files.
Is there some restriction on using 2 ipods together on one machine that I should be aware of?

You can use two or more iPods on one computer. There are a couple of methods. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Are you getting any error messages when you try to set up your playlists or drag your music manually?: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer

  • Using a Windows formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with Bootcamp on a Mac(Win XP

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use a previously formatted iPod Nano (4th Gen) with a Mac that has XP Bootcamped on to it. If the Nano is placed in manually manage music with the original computer it was formatted with, will it be able to accept music, movies, podcasts, etc from the windows on the Mac or will they still be incompatible?

Well, I have 4 internal drive bays filled already, is there room somewhere for 5th one in the box? I wasn't aware of it if there is?? My mac is MacPro3,1, early 2008.
That macsales.com link is interesting but I'm not in the US (I'm in Croatia), and all those brands are supidly expensive here, that $80 esata docking station is almost $200 here... bahh. For that price I may as well buy a whole new 3TB external disk, I want to dock the old one to save money.
I've browsed around and I've found Icy Box docks, which have much more reasonable prices:
    BOX IB-110StUS2-B
    ICY BOX IB-111StUS2-Wh
    ICY BOX IB-115StUS2HC
They all claim to have OSX support... anyone have any experience with them?

  • IPod Nano sound problem with bass

    Hello,
I bought an iPod Nano 4Go few days ago. I used to have previously a Sony HBM30 that was very good in sound quality and especially with bass.
With the iPod nano, I should say that the sound is not as good as the sony especially for bass (saturation). I encode with VBR 256kbps in MP3. The sound is very poor if I put on the equalizer and there's no way of changing bass or treeble.
So here are few questions :
1/ Is there any tips to improve bass quality in order to avoid saturation ?
2/ Is there any headphone that are better that Ipod ones for bass ?
3/ Is there any firmware in the future that could improve sound and bass ?
4/ Does Apple knows this problem ?
    Thanks for you help.
    Best regards

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Keep in mind the headphones you may be using. How are the songs in iTunes? The question is whether the songs are being sent to the iPod with good quality. If you are pleased with the songs in iTunes, then first look at the headphones you are using. Are you using the white ones that come with the iPod? Those are not the best headphones as far as sound quality goes.
Just looking for a few basic answers to those questions before trying to troubleshoot the iPod, iTunes, or the songs.
    Merry Christmas

My iPod nano paired twice with my headset and now nothing. The headset has a bluetooth profile: A2DP, AVRCP, HSP and HFP. I have no idea what this means. My iPod shows the headset ID number but now shows "connection failed"

  • Ipod nano 7th gen with remote control and with or witthout dock

    Hello there!
First of all thank you for reading me
I need to use my ipod nano 7th generation with the remote control because I'm installing it in my new ballet school and it's very uncomfortable going every time near the stereo to control it. I've always connected the ipod with the cable, not with the dock and I was wondering: can I use the apple remote controller without the dock? if no, has the dock to be apple or is it the same? I've seen that the apple universal dock has the old connection (like iphone 4, just to understand) .. How can I connect my ipod 7th gen? is there any adapter or something coming with the dock?
    Thank you very much,
    Anna

Ok I've found out that the universal dock is no longer available and that, btw, is not working with ipod nano 7th.... how should I do then?

  • What is the recalled iPod nano being replaced with

What is the recalled iPod nano being replaced with

I sent my 1st generation nano back on Monday and got my replacement today (Thursday).  Apple is FAST! Kudos for great customer service.  However, I also got the 6th gen. silver 8gb nano like deggie said although I didn't know that it was refurbished and I am very disappointed.  This is the super-tiny nano that I'm guessing no one liked because they redesigned it after 1 generation.  If they were sending refurbished nanos, I would have much preferred any generation but the 3rd or 6th generation or at least the option of choosing from what was available.  All of the others look very similar to the 1st generation which I really liked.  That said, the 6th gen. does have more memory than my original and has some additional features but I think I would have rather kept my old one.  I said I think because I haven't used the "new" one and I might get used to it.  Something to consider if you are happy with your 1st generation nano.

  • I have tried everything to get my new ipod nano to work with Windows 8.  Do I need to install new drivers or what?

Got a ipod nano for Christmas.  Installed already bought tunes on it with my computer at the time which was running Vista OS. Had to buy a new computer in March with Windows 8.  Did not buy any songs until April 29th or so...but they will not show in my ipod nano.  Talked with a tech and he got my songs into the new computer.  However, after we hung up, I tried to download the 2 new songs into my ipod and it would not do it.  I noticed that the "cloud" icon was not by any of the songs - only the word: downloaded.  I am thinking that since this is a 64 bit computer that I need to do something else, but don't know what.  Can you help me?  Thank you

So you have tried a different USB sync cable and as well as plugging it into all the USB ports on your system?  Did you try removing all other USB peripherals (excluding keyboard and mouse if necessary) to see if that did any good?
What happens if you connect it to another PC or Mac?

  • Can I replace my ipod nano 2nd generation with ipod nano 3rd generation.?

I bought an iPod Nano 2nd generation last year in June and the warranty lasts until June of this year 2008. I want to know if there is any way to upgrade to an iPod Nano 3rd Generation without paying for a whole new iPod. If my iPod is messed up or something, will they replace it with a 3rd generation iPod Nano, or another 2nd generation iPod Nano. Is there any way to get the 3rd Generation iPod Nano?
    [x|http://www.parikesit.com]

If my iPod is messed up or something, will they replace it with a 3rd generation iPod Nano, or another 2nd generation iPod Nano.
If they still have iPods in stock of the older generation, you will get one of these; the color may vary, but other specifications should be the same. If not, you will most likely get a current model.
You may want to find someone willing to purchase that iPod, and then put the money toward a current one.

  • I have an ipod nano 2nd generation with a non responsive click wheel

I have an ipod nano 2nd generation with a non responsive click wheel. I have fully charged it tried resetting it and on two different computers with the latest iTunes I have restored it with the latest firmware then moved it to hold and off hold held in the menue button and select button for 10 seconds but all I get is a screen where I select the language but cant get any response from the scroll wheel.
The hold button is working (I see the lock icon go on and off) I have done the restore procedure and then reset many times but no good I am wondering if I should open it up and disconnect the battery for 30 seconds.
I would appreciate any advice thanks in advance. (This is my Daughters ipod mine is an 8 gig one.)

You need a newer model iPod, a 4G or 5G. The 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1

why doesnt my 5th gen ipod nano not connect with windows 8?

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
