Using a .iso File for Installing Windows
Before you get any ideas- I DID purchase Windows legally. The disk wouldn't work/load in my computer for some odd reason, but I wrote a .iso file of it, and that seems to work.
I can't find a way to use a .iso in Boot Camp Assistant. I burned a disc out of the .iso, but I can't find "Start Installation." Assistance? Thanks so much!

We had to download a free iso burning program for Mac (we used SimplyBurns Mac). That program runs you through the necessary steps to properly burn the iso file you need. After doing so, Bootcamp recognized the installation file and everything worked as it should.

I try to install windows7 system on my macbook air, which version is 10.8.5. When I open the bootcamp, it let me to choose a windows ISO image, which I've already downloaded from this website: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325 /, it also asked me to select a USB drive, which is kingston that has 8GB. Then when I clicked "continue", it said that "Your bootable USB drive could not be created" "Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform. Please use an ISO file for 64-bit Windows installation." But actually the ISO image I downloaded is 64-bit windows7. I don't know why this would happen. Could someone help me please!!

I identified the reason to be that the W8 installation file didn't download completely from a Mac OS-device. I downloaded from another Win-device and the moved the installation file with a USB-stick and then everything worked diectly! But thanks anyway. -

Due to my misunderstanding,an Apple Customer has purchased Windows 7 ISO file for his iMac Computer.
But, the fact is that Apple only allows this on computers that support booting from an USB drive (aka they don't have optical drive).

I doubt any "risk", only very likely thing is that OSX updates will likely rewrite the supported Macs file & if you had need to install Win7 again from ISO, then you'd need to edit that file again.

In using bootcamp to partition and install Windows on my computer, I keep hitting a snag. Message says that partitioning can not be completed because files can not be moved. I have tried several things but nothing seems to be helping to move the process along. What should I do?

In most of the cases, that message appears when there's a problem with the filesystem, so you have to repair the disk. This doesn't mean that the hard drive is damaged.
First of all, open > About this Mac, and check Version. If it's 10.5 or 10.6, insert the Mac OS X DVD of the version you are using and press C key while your Mac is starting. If it's 10.7 or 10.8, press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting. After doing this:
1. Go to Utilities menu > Disk Utility (if you have 10.5 or 10.6) or open Disk Utility (10.7 and 10.8).
2. Choose Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair the disk.
3. Restart, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to install Windows on the Mac -
What's with the 32GB partition limit for installing Windows?
I have a 250 GB partition on a hard drive that I want to dedicate to Windows, but I've been reading the Bootcamp manual and it's confusing where it says that you can only create a 5 to 32 GB partition for installing Windows.
Is that the case, or can the partition for Windows be whatever size you want?
How does one go about being able to set up a larger NTFS volume?

In short, you can not create a BOOTABLE FAT32 partition larger as 32 Gb in Windows XP.
Vista does not even support any bootable FAT32 partition anymore, it has to be NTFS.
FAT32 was good but NTFS is really much better. Go for NTFS and use free tools to read the data from HFSA (Mac OS X file format) if you need to.
BTW formatting your drive in XP over 32 Gb will lead to very cryptic error messages during the install. Its a very bad idea. Force reformat the Boot Camp partition as 32 Gb FAT32 or force reformat into NTFS. -
hi there. I have old awe64. Even CL provides the drivers but i wish i can find the complete ISO file for my AWE64. I need complete package including Seer Wave Guide software to put in my old pentium pc. Any help welcome! BTW I am the proud owner of Elite Pro.

Never throw your old hardware.I suspect you won't have much luck finding the full install CD online for that card, it is quite old now.
Where possible, I'd recommend using third party applications otherwise.

I am getting the error:
"The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Jounraled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows."
I read up some on google, but all of them says that they have crated a partition and that is the problem, I only have the standard "Macintosh HD".
I tried to create a partition manually in disk utility but then the error message: "Partition failed with error message: Could not unmount disk."
Can anyone help me? It's driving me crazy.

Is it so hard to follow through? you were to have backup already, clones are best, then erase/format and restore.
Then partition.
Some have been able to use Disk Utility booted from OS X DVD or another drive, and repair the drive.
You have to use Boot Camp Assistant (99.9% anyway) to create and achieve a proper Windows Master Boot Record partition. -

Just to clarify, what Paul_31 and Barney-15E suggested are both temporary boot options. If you hold no key down, the Mac will continue to boot into Windows first.
To make OS X the default, you need to change the startup drive;
1) In the System Preferences > Startup Disk within OS X.
2) From the Startup Disk icon in the Windows task bar. This appear once you've installed all of the Boot Camp drivers.
3) Restart the Mac and hold down the Command+Option+P+R keys (known as zapping the PRAM). This will always reset the startup drive to the first bootable Mac OS partition it finds.
Once OS X is the default startup drive, then you can use Paul_31's advice to temporarily choose Windows to boot to. -

Hi Everyone, Need help here, please..Here is the situation, i want to upgrade my current pre-installed OS (Win 7 x64) Home premium in my laptop HP ENVY 4-1013tx Notebook PC to Windows 10. I'ts fine in the beginning until it shut down because of heat problem. When i try to turn it on, BSOD appeared. I've try to run in safe mode with have no luck, the same BSOD still appeared.I decided to recover it but no OS was detected in recovery mode.
