Using a Link in a Webtemplate to navigate in the portal

Hi BI/Portal experts!
We are using a federated portal environment. in our consumer portal we have implemented a reporting system with an overview page and some detail pages. each page contains iviews with webtemplates from our consumer portal.
In the overview page we have a iview with an web template wich holds some key figures and a link. Our aim is to use that link to get to the details page (which is somewhere else in the navigation). We tried to use the "NavigationTarget"-technique but the result was that the detail page was opend in the iview window instead of the full explorer window.
Is there any possibility to have a link within a webtemplate that affect the whole portal and not only the iview of the template?
I hope i could make myself clear.

Hi,
You need to load detailed page in same window after clicking a link in overview page?
How you implemented overview page, is it a template or seperate html page?
If it is a template then you can open detailed template in the same window from a link in overview page. For this you have to set open template in same window parameters in your link.

We have moved a Personal Information service from the Personal Information Area Page to a custom area page. One of the navigation links on the last screen of the service is the option:

I want to change this text. All of the Personal Information services use DC component ess/per where you can find the links and text in View: ConfirmationNaviView of web dynpro component: VcPersInfoConfirmationNavi. Changing the text will affect ALL Personal Information services. I would like to have a dynamic verison where the workset name is automatically used in the link text. I believe this was demonstrated during SDN day at TechEd in Las Vegas.
Can anyone share the information from SDN day or tell me how to do this?

Bug or feature : Using portlets with edit mode on a page in the portal

i am using Workshop 8.1 (GA release july) and i have discovered a bug (or a
feature) with respect to the beta version.
i have created a simple portlet with a view mode and an edit mode. When i
place the portlet on the very first page of a one book portal, it works
perfectly. However, i have a book with three pages and placed the portlet on
the second page. Now when i put the portlet in edit mode, by clicking the
edit button, i am directed to the first page of the portal and the portlet
will not show.
Inspection learned that the URL generated for the edit button, didn't
contain the _pagelabel parameter. When i added the parameter manually it
works fine.
A final remark is that the buttons in the titlebar have no icons the browser
can load.

Acessing a webtemplate 3.x in the portal, error Access via 'NULL' object

I'm having problems with my webtemplates developed in 3.x that run in the portal I get this error message:
I look in st22 but didn't see anything that could help. I have webtemplates developed in 7.0 and they are working fine in my portal. The problems is happening to the 3.x webtemplates only.
Any suggestions?

Have you filled in the node_vbak1 with some elements? Lets say in a supply function or wddoinit etc.?
Just check that. After that, make sure you have IntializeLeadSelection property set to true for the node_vbak1.

Is it possible to use a link to trigger the delete action on a form page?

Sorry Purple.. I know that there is a delete link that triggers the delete transaction on the form page..
The question was if anybody knew if I am able to use a link to trigger that delete transaction (on the form page), much like a dynamic list has a link that will trigger the delete transaction on the form page.
I don't want to use a dynamic list in this case though. :)

Show prompts before opening a new report using action links

Hi,
I have a report that's grouped on a particular GROUP_ID and the current month. On clicking the GROUP_ID on the report, I need to open a new report that displays data for that month but on date level. Since we have a lot of data at date level (>100,000), I wanted a drop down on the top of the report that has all dates in that month and clicking on a particular date, the data in the pivot table is fetched.
I tried using the pivot table prompt but that seems to fetch all the data first and then creates a drop down prompt. Is there a way where we could fire the query only on choosing a particular date.
Is there any other way we could do this?

You're saying to add a dashboard prompt for Month and Date? When opening reports using Action links, I am not able to see the prompts.
I am using Go URLs in Action links and that data for a month is >100,000. So, I want to show the data for the month and the first date of that month.
I really don't know whether such thing is possible or not. I just want to restrict the data to the first day of the month. Rest of the data is queried when user selects a different date from the drop down.

Ps query results to xml using xml link function registry

In People tools version 8.46 we need something like where the ps query result output is in the form of XML so that it can be used for external system. The catch I cannot use webservices. It is something like opening peoplesoft queires form excel using hyperlink but in this case we need xml. I looked at David Vandiver's Excel XML libraries which open the data in excel but is there something where the hyperlink output is xml using xml link function registry. I have capatured the data in rowset and now need to create mime type of xml to write the data

If I understand correctly, you want to use something like Microsoft Excel's web queries to get data from a PeopleSoft query in XML format. I have never done this before, but if I were to implement this, here is what I would do in PT 8.46:
1. Create an unstructured message in app designer.
2. Create a user that only has access to the queries you want to expose to Excel
3. Write synchronous message handler PeopleCode to call SwitchUser to switch to a specific query user rather than the generic integration broker user and execute a query, returning the results in XML (see [Query.RunToRowsest|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13292_01/pt849pbr0/eng/psbooks/tpcr/htm/tpcr31.htm#d0e113933] for an example).
4. Excel 2013 "cannot use object linking and embedding error"

We are using excel export as pdf functionality and have the following DCOM configuration
1.start->run and type 'DCOMCNFG'
2: Open 'DCOM Config' and locate 'Microsoft Excel Application'
3: Set its identity to 'This User' and give specific service user
On opening excel we are getting "cannot use object linking and embedding error" and the microsoft sugestions tells to change to launching user which is not an option for us,Is there any other suggestion to fix this issue by keeping Dcom
configuration with'This User'

How to navigate with the keyboard in album view?

Hello
Is there a better way to navigate through the albums and then select/control tracks within an "open" Album in Album-View without using the mouse than what I am trying to describe below?
iTunes is idle.
switch to album view (shortcut to switch view-methods?), select album by typing a few letters or using arrows
press space to play the first track
press cmd-L to highlight the playing track
use left/right/up/down arrows to navigate in the files of the open album
return to start playing the selected track
escape to close the album
cmd-. to stop playing
arrows to navigate the album-collection, space-bar to start playing album (track 1)
cmd-L to highlight playing track
arrows to navigate tracks in the album. (if the playing trck is highlighted)
cmd-left/right to play previous/next track
method to select/start playing a specific track in the open album? (While itunes is either idle or playing from another album)?

Using web link to call the report by passing the parameter but report blank

Hi,
I have using web link to prompt to generate the report(Quotation Format) by passing SR number in Service Request object.
The result return is blank report, the URL link that i put in as below :-

If preview in report folder, the report is generated with the output.
Is my syntax having problem or the method cannot be done this way?

i have checked the filter, the filter is calling the SR number.
When i try to output to PDF an error prompt :-

How to use quick link property in the km navigation iview

Hi all
I have requirement.
T structured lables
one on top and rest 12 at the bottem in 3 columns, 4 rows.
when i click the lable it should connect to a respective folder in the KM
this entire page have to be connected to a folder link...ie when i click this folder link this page with T structured lables have to come and when i click each lable respective folders should open...
so for that i have created one KM Document iview(this is like heading in the page) and 12 KM Navigation iviews(pointing to respective folders)
after that which layout will be suitable for this in page layout???
if i add all iviews into a one single page
how to connect lables to folder???
one of my friend have suggested to use '"quicklink'" property along with html page...???
how to use it ???
so pls do help me???

I have done with HTML page and attached to Km document iview.and i have my 12 Km navigation i views.
Then create static Links on HTML page to navigate to other iviews. It can be created by using the Insert link in Km tool of the html editor available in Km. For opening a url iview from a link you can write this for executing the 'donavigate method' to open the iview you needed.???

Using hyper-links in a jsp pages that are in a Session

Hi i am trying to include a hyper-links in my jsp pages that are in a Session, however when i use the links to navigate throughout the pages i get a java.lang.NullPointerException. The Session begins after the user has been validated i.e
String cid= request.getParameter("counsellorID")
session.setAttribute("counsellorID",cid);
All the pages included within the session have a session scope=session
; and they call the attributes that have been set when the session first begins i.e
String counsID= (String) (session.getAttribute("counsellorID"));

Logical error in creating tables using db link in solaris

While creating table using the syntax create table newtab...as select * from tab@dblink .. I am facing a problem. The newtab table created is having a structure different (from datalength point of view of varchar2 and char datatypes) from the source. The data length is getting tripled i.e. if a column a is varchar2(20) in tab then it is becoming --- a varchar2(60) in newtab. This is happening in solaris environment when the two databases are in 2 different servers. Please let me know if there are any patches to resolve the problem.

The error posted seems to indicate that the DB Link is not functional at all. Has it worked for any other type of DML operation or is this the first time you ever tried to use the link?

Issue using data link in XML Publisher

Dear All,
I am new to XML Publisher, for the first time trying data link concept in XML Publisher tool. The issue is very simple, I have two queries Q1(say it fetches sales_order_number, application_name ) and Q2 (say it fetches sales_order_number , error_number, error_description). And sales_order_number is passed as input using data link to Query Q2 from query Q1 and Q2 will retrive more than one row for a given sales_order_number.
Say for a given dept_name 1001 the output will be something similiar like
Q1:
SO# | Appl.Name
1001 | 'Invoice '
Q2:
SO# | Error.# | Error Desc
1001 | 1512 | No Data Found
1001 | 1513 | Invalid Entry
1001 | 2674 | Error while inserting the record
and the query which I have used in XML template goes like this

And in the RTF template I have properly used <?for-each:G_Q1?> <?for-each:G_Q2?>- --
<?end for-each?><?end for-each?>
Ideally the header (Q1) should have one row and the lines (Q2) should have 3 rows. But the issue here is even Q1 produces 3 rows.
If in case Q2 has 4 records, then Q1 also plots 4 records in the report output. Hope I am explaining the issue correctly. Any help to resolve the issue would be a great. Thanks in advance.
