Using a proxy to FMS 3.5

Is it possible to use Apache to proxy/tunnel RTMP(S) traffic through to Flash Media Server?
Basically, I want to tunnel RTMP traffic using HTTP through Apache.
What I want to be able to do is open up an appropriate port (either 80 or 443) on the Apache server and have that proxy traffic through to Flash Media Server. The reason I ask is that I have set-up this scenario but I keep getting a "NetConnection.Connect.Failed" error message; I captured the network traffic flowing between my machine and the server and it is connecting to the server, just nothing happens after that.
Do I have to connect directly to Flash Media Server?
Thanks

I am not sure you can do this. But you can definitely do the otherway round i.e use FMS to proxy your HTTP data to apache.. This is how you can do that http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_AdminGuide/WSE2A5A7B9-E118-496f-92F9-E295 038DB7DB.html

  • Proxying from FMS to HTTP stops working after a few hours

    Hi,
I'm using FMS Streaming 3.5.0 r405 on linux servers to stream videos with RTMP/RTMPT. We have decided to use the new proxying function to redirect HTTP requests to a Web server. We did not install the included Apache server, but used a lighttpd server installed on the same machines and configured to listen on port 81. So when a client connects with our player, it tries first RTMP, RTMPT and if it times out on these attemps, we try to go through with HTTP. FMS proxies the HTTP request received on port 80 to the lighttpd server on port 81.
    My fms.ini file contains:
    # Whether to start and stop the included HTTP server along
    # with FMS.
    SERVER.HTTPD_ENABLED = false
    # IP (address and) port that Flash Media Server should proxy
    # unknown HTTP requests to. Leave empty to disable proxying.
    # With no address, specifies a localhost port.
    # For example:
    #    HTTPPROXY.HOST = webfarm.example.com:80
    HTTPPROXY.HOST = :81
This works well, but after a few hours, the HTTP proxy of FMS does not work anymore. Lighttpd is still responding on port 81. There is no error in all log files. Just stops working!
I have to restart FMS to enable again the tunnel. This behavior happens on all my streamers. Is it a bug or am I missing something?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • To save time, could I get away with just using ProRes Proxy?

Might be a dumb question.  But please play along with me...
I've been battling with FCP-X since it first came out.  Beach balls, crashes, failed auto saves, you name it.  Sluggishness is my middle name.  But I think it might be because I'm trying to force too much quality through my older, less powerful machines and my little firewire 400 hard drive.  All three of my Mac are 3-4 years old, all are from the old "Core 2 Duo" era (not quad core processors), and are all maxed out at 4GB of RAM.  While I've read that many people are having performance problems with FCP-X even on brand spankin' new suped-up Mac Pros with lots more horsepower than I'm running, I've long thought that my machines and their lack of power by today's standards may be at the heart of my sluggishness problem, especially given that most of the material I work with is shot in 1080 HD.  (I've never actually tested it in FCP-X, but I'm assuming that things would speed along more like I've been used to in the past if I would just do everything in Standard Definition 480, but that ain't gonna happen.)
Like many, I shoot most everything in 1080 HD (usually 24p, sometimes 30), unless I'm occasionally shooting 720 HD at 60i for later slowing down to slo-mo.
Here's my question:  Most everything I edit is for web delivery, and 99 percent of it is for my own use (not clients).  Mostly podcast-like stuff, although occasionally I'll create something for my business website.  Most of what I do is talking head type stuff, not a lot of motion (except for the 720/60i slo-mo stuff, which usually has some motion, which is why I shoot it at 60i for slowing down).  Most of what I shoot is green screen talking heads, intended to be keyed in front of some innocuous background like some of the generators in FCP-X.  I want it to look good.  Even great.  But given the limitations of power on my machines, I also don't want to invest an eternity in rendering and processing time.  The work I'm doing with video just isn't that important.  It's mostly for grins.
Until last night, I had been working exclusively in ProRes422 (aka "Optimized").  But last night I shot some footage and imported it into FCP-X, encoding it ONLY in ProRes Proxy.  And frankly, I couldn't discern any difference.  It looked every bit as good as the 422 stuff I'd shot before.  There was absolutely no difference to my naked eye.  That said, the footage I shot last night to test this out was not shot in front of the green screen (I'll test that out today or tonight), so maybe the Proxy footage won't key as well.  (I've been stunned at how good the keyer is in FCP-X, but up to this point I've only been keying ProRes422 footage, not Proxy.)  But really, based on just eyeballing the footage, I couldn't tell the difference between the Proxy footage and all the other footage I'd shot previously that had been imported and converted to "Optimized" ProRes422.
I'm not looking to deliver anything for broadcast television (if I were, I'd for sure use 422).  I'm not doing any feature film type stuff.  My video work consists mainly of stuff just for me, for my own personal amusement (and for the amusement of anyone who might watch it on the web).  It's intended for YouTube, Vimeo, or occasionally (in smaller dimensions than 1920x1080) for deployment on my company website.  Mostly, it's just me doing podcast-type stuff.  Occasionally I'll shoot and edit something for church, or for friends.  I like to think the production values of my stuff tend to be higher than, say, the footage Aunt Delores shot at Uncle Ralph's birthday party (okay, A LOT higher than that!).  But my stuff isn't going to air on "Good Morning Flatbush" either (unless, on the off chance it should happen to go viral).
So let me make my question as clear as possible:  Could I not get away with just using ProRes Proxy throughout my entire work flow, end to end, never switching over to ProRes 422 even when exporting?  Honestly, it has taken hours just to render the keyed green screen footage on a 15 minute video, and just the other night, it took the better part of 4 hours (after it was already rendered) to export a 15 minute ProRes422 sequence to YouTube (and then the darn thing timed out, essentially wasting all my time).  I'd rather just stay in Proxy the whole way through if doing so would streamline my workflow without compromising too much quality in the "look" of the video.  Based on my very limited use of Proxy (just testing it out last night for the first time), I couldn't tell the difference.  Maybe for web deployment, Proxy is all I really need.
Have any of you just stayed in Proxy the whole way through, never switching to 422 even when exporting?  Might this be an acceptable work flow for some of us, especially those of us on older, less powerful machines?  Is this a viable solution?  Do any of you work this way?  What's your level of satisfaction?
    Thoughts?

A lot of what I'm shooting is being shot on a Canon XA-10.  Some (and certainly all of the 720 footage, but some of the 1080) is shot on a 7D.  And still more is shot on either an iPhone 4S, or even on a Flip Ultra (720p, 30fps).
Most is shot on the XA-10.
What I'm trying to avoid is the excessive render times (doesn't the ProRes 422 footage have to render as well?), and the ridiculously long times it takes to export.  Would all that not be reduced significantly by sticking to Proxy the whole way?  And what would the trade-off be?  I mean, I honestly can't see any discernible difference.  Maybe I will when I try to pull a decent key.  (Haven't gotten that far yet in my Proxy experimentation.)
Of course, editing in Proxy and outputting using 422 requires that FCP-X encode to BOTH when importing, right?  Doesn't that add yet another bit of time to the overall process?
I'm trying to streamline, and to reduce the overall amount of time I'm spending doing this stuff.

  • A new version of Firefox, which downloaded automatically, says Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that's refusing connections, even though I had access before the download.

I was using Firefox earlier in the day with no problem. About half an hour ago I tried to get on the Internet using Firefox (as always). When I did, I was greeted with a little dialog box showing that something was downloading. That's happened before.
This time, though, I was greeted by an error page that said Firefox was configured to use a proxy server that's refusing connections.
I'm not on a network. I have a desktop computer that connedts to a wireless modem that I share only with my wife. I didn't change my settings on either. Neither did my wife.
My "Connection Settings" box still says "use system proxy settings." There are no entries in the manual settings boxes.
I want to emphasize that I changed *nothing.*
I need to know, please, how I can set my computer to get back onto the Internet or, failing that, how I can go back to the previous version of Firefox.
    Thank you very much.

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"
    See "Firefox connection settings":
    * [[Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can]]

  • When I try to open Firefox I get a screen that says Firefox is configured to use a proxy server. I don't know what that is and I have no access to Firefox.

The above says it all, I think. I try to open Firefox and I get that screen I mentioned above. I have uninstalled and program twice and re-installed it three times with the same result.

    Check the connection settings.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection > Settings
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work.

    Hi Jani,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am new to webservices and we are trying to do a POC on invoking FinancialUtilService using HTTP proxy client. I am following steps mentioned in attached pdf section "Invoking FinancialUtil Service using Web Service Proxy Client". I have imported certificate using below command.

    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_15/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm#ASTED005
Also performed steps mentioned in -> Section 5.3.7 - Step 7: Enable Session Binding on OracleAS Web Cache of the Oracle® Application Server Portal Configuration Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) -- B14037-03.
My current (example names shown only)setup details are as follows:
Reverse Proxy for SSO server (running on internal.oracle.com:7777): proxy.oracle.com:7777
Reverse Proxy for Portal server (running on internal.oracle.com:7778): proxy.oracle.com:7778
With the above steps completed, I can successfully use the http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/pls/orasso for login into SSO without any issues.
    Users get authenticated successfully.
I can also use http://proxy.oracle.com:7778/pls/portal for viewing pages on the portal fine . All self referencing links have also been successfully modified to point to proxy.oracle.com:7778.
However, an attempt to login in the portal is not successful. Clicking on the 'Login' link successfully redirects to the SSO login page (http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/<login-page>). However, after successful authentication, the success page fails to show up and the user gets shown the initial login portal home page again.
There are no error messages shown on the screen. But it seems that user session is failing to be initiated/set correctly, as shown by the log file (in $PORTAL_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/portal/OC4J_Portal_default_island_1/application.log ):

    Hi Chris,
The begin of the expection stack gives you the reason:
06/11/03 09:13:59 java.sql.SQLException: The method 'setSavepoint' cant be called when a global transaction is active
The reason is, that either the whole global transaction must be commited or rollbacked.
I don't know your actual configuration, but between the methods begin() and commit()/rollback() of the UserTransaction instance, OC4J/OracleAS uses a global transaction (= XA transaction) in your configuration. The state of a global transactions is completely under the control of the application server and several restrictions must be considered. One of them is, that you can't use the method setSavePoint/. E.g. you can't also call the method setAutoCommit(true) in this state, or change the transaction isolation level via setTransactionIsolation(newLevel).
This is NOT a limitation of the OC4J/OracleAS but is true for ALL application servers.
P.S. I can successfully set savepoints and rollback to savepoints in weblogic 9.0This means, that WebLogic 9.0 doesn't use a global transaction in this case.
Because I don't know your configurations (Oracle and WebLogic) I can't say, why the behave different in this situation.
    Best,
    Manfred

  • Help: forcing use of proxy in j2me and getting value of gateway IP address

    hi everyone,
    #1
Has anyone tried forcing the use of a proxy for a midlet? If so how did you do this? I was able to connect to a url through the emulator (ktoolbar) by changing the proxy settings under the edit-->preferences on ktoolbar but I want to make sure that my midlet enforces the use of a proxy to connect to a http url (so that I'll know it still uses the proxy even if it is already using a real java-enabled phone).
somebody suggested to me to take a look at http://java.sun.com/j2me/docs/html/docs/Running.html
I've tried the instructions from the url but it seems like its just the configuration you run when you test it in your emulator. Similar to changing the preferences on ktoolbar to use a proxy.
    This is what I did:
I tried changing the config to a working proxy, compiled my midlet, download it into my java-enabled phone and tested if it can connect to a backend server. The result: I was able to get a reply from the backend, however, when I changed the configuration to a non-working proxy, I still get a reply from the backend server. This leads me to believe that the midlet uses the current internet connection profile on the phone.
If this is the case, then that means I am dependent on the phone settings and I could not change/force the midlet to use the current connection with a proxy server I defined. I've searched the internet and have seen sample codes to use proxy servers when connecting to the intenet but they are not for j2me applications (so far). Is this a limitation of j2me? maybe there is really no way to connect using a proxy defined in an application since there is no api for it? Correct me if I'm wrong though. Is there a workaround for this?
    #2
Another problem that I am trying to solve is to get the value of the gateway IP address defined on the phone when it connects to the internet. Is this possible? If so, how?
Any ideas will be very much appreciated. thanks to all.

  • Extracting MIME attachment from email using OSB proxy service - email transport

    Hi,
I'm reading email messages(multipart/mixed) with attachments(pdf, zip, xml and csv) from MS Exchange Server 2010 using OSB proxy service email transport.I need to save the attachments to a local folder and process one of the attachments, an XML file. Below is the proxy service config.
    Proxy Service Configuration (Test1/Proxy Services/GetEmail)
    Actions:
    General Configuration
    Service Type   Messaging Service
    Message Type Configuration
    Request Message Type
    Text
    Response Message Type
    None
    Transport Configuration
    Protocol   email
    Endpoint URI   mailfrom:mailserver.net:143
    Get All Headers   No
    Headers
    EMAIL Transport Configuration
    Email Protocol   imap
    Service Account   Test1/Proxy Services/email_acc
    Managed Server   WLS_OSB1
    Polling Interval   30
    Read Limit   2
    Pass By Reference   false
    Pass Attachments By Reference   false
    Post Read Action   move
    IMAP Move Folder   processed
    Attachments   archive
    Download Directory   \\soasup-stor01\Vacancy\test\download
    Archive Directory   \\soasup-stor01\Vacancy\test\archive
    Error Directory   \\soasup-stor01\Vacancy\test\error
    Request Encoding   iso-8859-1
    Message Handling Configuration
    Transaction Required   Disabled
    Same Transaction For Response   Disabled
    Content Streaming   Disabled
The polling is working fine. I've encoded the attachment variable to Base64 using a java callout.$attachments/ctx:attachment/ctx:body/ctx:binary-content has been passed as the byte[] input to the java method and the response is captured in $encodedAttachment. I've created a SaveFile BS(file type) with Request Message Type = Binary and Response Message Type = None. I've tried replacing the node ./ctx:binary-content in body variable with encodedAttachment in the request action of the Publish action to call the BS. One file is getting created with contents of the entire email, MIME headers and boundary parts along with the base64 encoded attachments.
    <Contents from the created file>
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary=MIME_Boundary;
      type="binary/octet-stream"
    --MIME_Boundary
    Content-Type: binary/octet-stream

If I put a delete action in the request to Publish action for SaveFile BS to delete the $attachments, the created file contains only the email body part and the attachment boundary part is missing.
I've uploaded the OSB log with full trace enabled.
How can I pass the  encodedAttachment to the BS for saving the files?
Would iterating through the $aatachment/ctx:attachment give me the individual attachments for saving and processing, as there are separate binary-content refs in them?
Any help to achieve my requirement is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Manoj,
Thanks for the quick reply to my query.
The thing is, the link you have provided talks more from changing the business Service configurations i.e. the type of the service etc, but the concern is, that the Business Service is already Implemented and hence the change would not be an appropriate option for me.
Please let me know, if any more information is required.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • I am running Firefox 3.5.4. When I try to upgrade to a newer version I get "Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections." Then, I have to re-install 3.5.4 to get to the internet. I have Windows XP. How do I fix this?

Any version of Firefox above 3.5.4 I try to install will not let me get to the internet. Each Firefox gets upgraded it keeps giving me the error message that "Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections." Then I need to re-install 3.5.4 to get to the internet. This is driving me nuts! How do I fix this?

    You're welcome

  • Performance problems processing big volumes using ABAP-proxy framework

    Hi
We have a custom application ABAP program running on a ECC50 ( WAS640 ) box - that reads change pointer information based on a Z* msg type and generates proxy messages - sending them to XI. Now in every run, this ABAP program pushes out 5000 to 10,000 messages ( one /customer change ) to XI using a proxy framework.
I find that the Z* abap takes very little time to read the change pointer information and generate the outbound messages out of the ECC50 box. The messages are queued in the ECC50 integration engine layer for a long time before they go out to XI. We even got a <b>HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK</b> error for one of the outgoing messages since there is a long list of messages trying to go out to XI.
    1) Is the above error because of the timeout in the http connection between ECC50 and the XI box - where do we increase the timeout settings for this ?
2)What are the tuning parameters that need to be set in such a scenario on the integration engine ( ECC50 ) and the XI box ( Integration server ).
We are using QOS as EO when the messages are sent out.
I set EO_INBOUND_PARALLEL and EO_OUTBOUND_PARALLEL tuning params in both of the boxes to 10 . Are these parameters enough - is there something else to be set to improve the performance ?( we have atleast two CPUs each on the WAS boxes ).
Please share your experiences / thoughts on handling such a high volume situation.

    Hi Karthik,
    <i>
    1) Is the above error because of the timeout in the http connection between ECC50 and the XI box - where do we increase the timeout settings for this ?</i>
    >>>Check this blog-
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2006/06/08/xi-timeouts-timeouts-timeouts
    Also check this tuning guide
    https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000592892005E.PDF
    But just one suggestion-
In this scenario, is your target is File or something else?
If it is a file, you can write your proxy in such a way that, for each proxy call only 100 messages will be pushed into XI, and in XI, you can collect these messages using BPM and get the one message at the end of the process.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Moorthy

  • Windows - Use system proxy settings not working as expected

    Hi everyone,
I have a bit of an issue that I could use some help with. We currently have remote users that utilize an SSTP VPN connection to access our internal network. Once connected, those users are required to use an internal proxy server to connect to the Internet. The proxy server is Microsoft's TMG and utilized domain authentication.
On our remote Windows clients we have their Internet Options configured to utilize a proxy as follows:
Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings -> No proxy configured at all
Internet Options -> Connections -> Highlight SSTP Connection -> Settings
Use a proxy server for this connection -> IP/Port of Proxy Server
Firefox and Chrome are both configured to use system proxy settings.
Here is my process to demonstrate the issues:
    Remote client workstation is rebooted.
With the above configuration just after a reboot, a remote user that is not connected to the VPN can browse the Internet with Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. None of the browsers prompt for credentials.
A remote VPN connection is then established.
FF is opened and HTTP connections utilize the proxy server. However, HTTPS connections do not use the proxy server, but instead attempt to use the default gateway. FF does not prompt for credentials. FF is closed.
Chrome is opened and can access both HTTP and HTTPS sites without issue. No credential prompt. Chrome is closed.
IE is opened and can access both HTTP and HTTPS sites without issue. No credential prompt. IE is closed.
    Here's where it gets weirder...
FF is then reopened. The VPN connection is still up. FF will prompt for credentials. Domain credentials are supplied and FF can now utilize the proxy for both HTTP and HTTPS connections. FF is closed.
    VPN is disconnected.
FF is opened and cannot access the Internet as it is still trying to use the proxy server. FF is closed.
IE is opened and can access the Internet. IE is closed.
Chrome is opened and can access the Internet. Chrome is closed.
FF is reopened and can now access the Internet. FF is closed.
In summary, in the above scenario FF acts in an unexpected manner with regards to proxy usage when "use system proxy settings" is applied. However, Firefox begins acting as expected after IE is opened and closed. For example, connect to VPN, open IE, close IE, open FF, and everything works accordingly. Disconnect the VPN, open IE, close IE, open FF and everything works as expected.
Any insight you can provide would be appreciated as it is affecting our FF users and the sooner we can achieve resolution the better. As a note, we've also worked through this issue with WPAD and proxy auto-detect. I've intentionally removed these from the equation to simplify troubleshooting.
    Thanks

Quick update. Added to a previously filed bug. Looks like it's assigned now so maybe we'll see a fix for this soon.
