Using a Samsung syncmaster 2343bwx with iMac

I have a fairly recent iMac 23" (2011) and I also purchased a Samsung syncmaster 2343bwx.
Would I be able to use this as an external monitor to my iMac? Has anyone tried this?
thanks in advance!

There is no reason to suppose that it wouldn't unless it has an unusual screen resolution.

  • Using a Samsung SyncMaster 710N with a Macbook

    Hi,
Is it possible to use a macbook with the monitor listed above? I would want to close the notebook and use my LCD monitor as the monitor for the machine and occasionally use it for a second screen.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Photoshop and monitor profile (Samsung SyncMaster 244T with EyeOne Display 2)

I've just calibrated my Samsung SyncMaster 244T with EyeOne Display 2 and
created a monitor profile. Should I use it as the Photoshop working color
    space now?
    Thanks.

So my monitor profile is just for the OS, and photoshop should use either <br />sRGB or Adobe RGB, or whatever color space specific to the output <br />destination.<br /><br />So, say, if I plan to edit some files for a video slide show that I'm making <br />using ProShow Producer I should edit those files in one of the NTSC color <br />spaces and save that profile with the files.<br /><br />I used to just leave them in sRGB and saw some weird color results watching <br />those slide shows on TV.<br /><br />Thanks a lot for your info, Christopher.<br /><br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> No. Your working space should usually be a color space with well-behaved <br />> characteristics such as black and white points being equal RGB values, as <br />> well as the values for grays. Your monitor profile won't be that way. Your <br />> monitor profile will let Photoshop display colors accurately, but for <br />> editing images, use a working space suited to the kind of editing you are <br />> doing.<br />><br />> Are you editing in CMYK, doing printing, video, editing from film scans, <br />> etc? The best working space will depend on the source image and the <br />> eventual output for it.<br />><br />> Most people use Adobe RGB(1998) as a good compromise for a working space. <br />> Some prefer sRGB which works well for on-screen viewing of output but less <br />> well for print media and/or when images contain very saturated colors. <br />> Photographers working from transparency film often use Ektaspace as their <br />> working space.

  • Having trouble using a Samsung LCD HDTV with my new mac mini...help?!

I have a brand new mac mini running snow leopard. I am trying to use a samsung HDTV (1080i). I've got the display connected and it is working but the font on the windows is not very crisp at all...it is actually hard to read. I've adjusted the resolution in my settings to all the different options. When I use the 720p option the font gets a little better but the windows are HUGE, when I use 1080i the windows shrink to the correct size but the font gets worse. Anyone have any ideas?

Be sure to designate the HDMI input on the Samsung TV as a 'computer' source. This seems to help how it presents the image on the TV. The other thing to adjust is the font smoothing settings, via System Preferences > Appearance.

  • Using my 24" 2405fwp Dell with iMac 20"

I just bought the new imac 20" and it will be here soon. Last week, I bought a new 24" dell monitor. I would like to use them together, if possible. Can I do that? How? I have an adapter from my ibook that looks like it will connect the ibook to the dell. Thanks for the help!

Your iMac, as others have said, officially only supports screen mirroring, not "extended desktop" mode. There is a utility here that claims to enable extended desktop on the G5 iMacs.
I do not endorse such usage since some people have reported that the hack completely messed up their systems, though, so use the hack at your own risk. Note as well that if you have problems with the system due to this hack, Apple may well not honor the warranty (since the hack constitutes an unauthorized modification, prohibited in the Apple warranty). But it has reportedly worked well for a number of people.

  • Can i use SONY DRX-830UL-T with iMac 27

Can I use my Sony dual layer DVD/CD RW driver (model DRX-830ULT-T) with my new iMac 27 ? It has USB and both FW400 regular and micro connection. The iMac came with Lightening and USB3.
    Thanks,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You should be able to use this optical drive with USB. You can also connect it by FireWire 400, but you will have to buy a Thunderbolt to FireWire 800 adaptor and a FireWire 400 to 800 cable

  • Using the Samsung convoy 2 with Microsoft Sync

After I pair my Samsung Convoy 2 phone with Sync it only works sometimes. It seems like when I get into the car it is not connecting via Bluetooth all the time. I hit the phone button on my stering wheel and it Sync says no phone found, I will try to connect one. My previous phone worked fine so I know the Sync system is functioning fine. Any ideas or is anyone currently using this phone with Sync?

I've got a Ford Edge with Microsoft's Sync system. It works pretty well with both my iPhone and my 5th Gen iPod. Playlists and all.
The biggest issue I have now is that the play count on podcasts (and presumably all music) doesn't get updated/credited for items played via Sync. This is an issue for me since the iPhone's relatively small storage space makes use of Smart Playlists essential, and most of my playlists have "play count - 0" on them to ensure fresh podcasts are synced up. I'll have to post about that in a new thread perhaps.
re: your specific issue, I don't think this will fix it, but Microsoft's Ford Sync is very picky about all metadata tags being complete on all items (artist, track, album, etc). Sync won't index items that don't have proper metadata, and if it doesn't index them, I'm going to assume it can't see them to play them under all the right circumstances.

  • Use parallels to run windows with iMac as monitor

This is a complicated question, so please read everything. I have a new late 2012 Mac Mini. On the Mac Mini, I had MS Windows installed with Bootcamp so I could run a 3d cad program. I want to use my iMac 21 inch computer in target display mode as the monitor for this. I hooked up the mini to the iMac with a thunderbolt cable and started both machines up. The Mac Mini is set to boot up in the windows side of the partitioned hard-drive. Because of this, the iMac doesn't respond to the mini when hitting the command/F2 key to try to place the iMac in target display mode. I could try to start up the Mini on the apple side of the partitioned hard-drive and see if I can get target display mode to work with the iMac, but that doesn't solve my problem, which is, that I need to use the windows side on the mini with the iMac as the display.
So, I'm wondering if I switch from Bootcamp to Parallels to run the windows partition, will this solve the problem. I'm thinking, that because you can switch back and forth between the window and apple partitions in Parallels without having to reboot, I can start both computers up, place the iMac in target display mode, then switch to the windows side and work there... all using a thunderbolt cable.
I've been on the phone with Apple support, and they don't know for sure if this will work, but they think it's worth a try. I'd rather do this than have to buy and use a monitor for the Mini. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS AND HAD SUCCESS??? IS THE CABLE AN ISSUE HERE? IF THIS DIDN'T WORK, DID YOU FIND ANOTHER WAY?
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from anyone who can shed light on this.

  • Unable to Sync iPod Touch using release 5.1.1 with iMac running IOS 10.7.4

  • Using a Samsung SyncMaster T220 1680X1050 resolution monitor

Whenever I try using the above external monitor at the listed native resolution, my Macbook displays it for a split second before becoming a black screen. All of the lower resolutions listed in the Display PreferencePane work, but it's blurry and not too enjoyable to use (at the moment I'm using a 1280X800 resolution on it).
I read somewhere that the SwitchResX application works, and I've tried it successfully too but I don't want to purchase more software for my Mac. Are there any other alternative solutions to this problem?
As always, thanks for any help you can provide!

First off, if SRX is the solution to your problem, the shareware fee seems to be a small price to pay given the alternative.
But you could also just uninstall it. Now that it has appended the needed resolution to OS X data file, the data will remain, with or without SRX being installed.

  • Can anyone tell me if they are using the Samsung SCX-5636FN with S.L

I would appreciate any feedback on these printers and what peoples thoughts are on using them with Snow Leopard. I want to be able to print AND scan via the network.
The other printer I am looking at is the Brother 8460N and I can confirm this one does work, but seems to have a short toner life.
    Thanks in advance.

    Had to purchase the Brother..

Yes, of course, that is what is used in Japan.  You can still type any language, not just Japanese.  It just has a slightly different layout.
If you have a problem after you have connected it, come back here and provided details about what is not working the way you want.

  • I just bought Mac Book pro; trying to hook up dual monitor with Samsung syncmaster 2033 but no signal; I am using dvi to hdmi converter. Please assist.

I just purchased a Macbook Pro but unable to set up dual display with samsung syncmaster 2033 via DVI to HDMI port.
Thank you in advance for help.

There has been quite a lot of discussion here about driving twin displays with the mini, and more recently about the potential for USB video adapters to facilitate this, particularly in the light of several vendors claiming they have suitable MacOS devices and drivers 'almost ready'.
The DisplayLink solution seems to be the one most suggested as viable, though it's a pity they have not yet been able to move their drivers from beta - I suspect that puts a few people off. It's therefore good to hear of a real-world experience that should help others decide whether or not to go this route!

  • Imac 27" won't detect samsung syncmaster dvi

A couple weeks ago I bought my first mac.  iMac 27" 2.7 GHz.  Before that I had a custom built pc with a Samsung Syncmaster T260HD hooked up through DVI.
Today I mini-display to DVI adaptor in attempt to connect my samsung and use it as an external display.  It isn't working.  Everything is connected properly and the monitor is on and set to DVI.  I go to the system pref menu and hit detect displays and nothing happens.  One thing that I have noticed it that when I switch to DVI on the monitor it goes for a sec and then basically falls asleep.  It is still on but nothing goes up.
My computer is also fully updated and I've tried restarting it.
    Please HELP!
    Thanks

    bump.
Just bought a new adapter and it still doesn't work.
