Using a standard infoobject as a reference infoobject ???very urgent!!

hi guys,
i have to develop a report. so now here my requirement is that i have to display the fields in the report from an ods. Here there is one standard infoobject extracted from r/3 and is been used as a reference object for one zfield. Now the requirement is in such a way that i have to use the same infoobject's medium txt to display the details in another zfield. so the usage of the infoobject comes twice here. Now can anyone explain me how to solve the problem.
(same standard infoobject is used to refer two different zfields to display the data in the reporting in two different fields.

Dear Rani,
Reference field means, reference objects wont contain any master data. Same master data available for all reference objects.
Ex: Standarad object : std_1 and based on this 2 reference objects(Ref_1 & Ref_2) created. Same master data(Data of main object: std_1) will be used for all three objects.
So you can use ony of the objects based on your requirement. you will get same text for same key.

As far as I know, cross references are available in CS4/5, not in CS3. It is possible to write a script that creates hundreds, thousands of them very quickly taking the necessary information, let's say from tagged text. You wrote only one line, so it's difficult to me to imagine what XML structure you have and what your requirements are. But here is a script I wrote a while ago -- probably you need something similar, and here's the source code (not final version, of course) to show the approach I used.

1. Goto SE11 of R3 and give RSOSFIELDMAP
2. Click on contents icon of the table and give the R3 fields names against the field
3. Execute it and the table will list out the corresponding info objects and the data source.

How to find table & fields of standard InfoObject for creating generic DataSource?
e.g. I want to know the table & field of 0MAINTPOS infoObject.

You can get the list of tables involved in a particular DS by using the below method ( this another approach)
--> RSA3 -- enter your DS ( execute later)
--> Goto Tcode ST05 --> switch on the SQL Trace
--> now execute the extract checker in RSA3.once done switch off(deactivate) the SQL trace.
--> in st05 screen you can find the button "Display Trace" -- execute (here make sure SQL trace button is enabled.
--> from the menu bar -->Trace list--> select "combined table accesses".
--> it will display the tables involved in it -- check for TABLE names section.... select that row Table names -- click on filter button --press F4 -- here we go it will display the list of entire tables involved in the extraction activity... here you need to sort the tables which are related to your DS.

Standard infoobject or custom

i am working on a development project where i use the standrad bc
object 0customer . in my project i am only going to use a soecific
type of customers and we have only 2 customers ( i.e 2 values only )
of this kind .there is no possibility of having more than 5
customers of this kind ever.we are not bothered about any other
customers on any kind.
I need to put my customer infoobject in my ODS and Cube .
I have been wondering if i should use the standard BC
infoobject 0customer or create a new one Zcsutomer as
i am going to hav eonly 2 values .
Can anyone guide me with this ?
What all should i consider while sing stabdard/custom Characteristic

you can go with the std content - it doesnt matter if you have only 2 or 200.
The only thing you need to pay attention is that, if there are any customers from different system coming into the same BI with the same customer number(key). To be clear - You shouldnt have two customers having a same name OOPS, in that case the latest loaded data will overwrite the already existing customer. if thats the case you need to go with the Zobject

Standard InfoObject as InfoProvider

Hi guys,
adding a standard InfoObject to a catalog (characteristics) it shouldn't be a problem to set the InfoObject as InfoProvider.
Am I right? Or should I make a copy of it?
Because others are using the InfoObject too (0....) and this is the first time I will do experiments with one standard InfoObject as Infoprovider.
I think this standard InfoObject in my catalogue will be handled like a copy or something like that and shouldn't take effect to the original.

The requirement is to do reporting for one InfoCube.
The problem is that one InfoObject can't be defined as key figure but only as characteristic.
I'm trying and searching for a solution for this.
This means I have to combine one InfoCube with one characteristic and don't know how.

Using/Populating Consolidated InfoObjects w/o MDM Determination of Matches

We have two separate R/3 systems with overlapping Materials and Material Groups, and would like to reclassify the Material Groups (but not Materials) into "global" numbers/IDs using the consolidated InfoObject 0GN_CAT_PUR.
My question is about how/where to load the mapping information. I'm thinking that all of the match criteria would be loaded into the attribute table for 0GN_CAT_PUR (Back-End Object Type, SSID of a Category, Material Group). Then, for each line of Transaction Data, the determination of global Material Group (e.g. "Purchase Category") would occur via lookup in the Update Rules where the code references the ATTR table information.
Can anyone confirm (or deny) this - that the match/lookup is made off of the ATTR (P) table for Consolidated InfoObjects, and that the only data which must be loaded for this lookup to work is in the ATTR table of the consolidated InfoObject?

Have confirmed the above. The "match" information for Consolidated InfoObjects is contained within the ATTR fields. We have added an additional ATTR to store the new Global Material Group, and made that attribute navigational in the InfoCube. This solves the reporting/reassignment issues. The "master" list of local material groups is stored in the core 0GN_CAT_PUR values (e.g. the Key Field is a concatenation of SSID, Object Type, and local Material Group), and the re-classification is stored in our custom attribute. This custom attribute is then used in the reports to show and classify the data according to the Global Material Group.

Actually i am using IDES Training Server. I went to check some SAP Standard infoObjects like 0BUS_AREA, 0PROFIT_CTR, 0COMP_CODE etc....but this all are not available in my system. So please advise me whether i need to upgrade the system or any thing else?

How can i add a new characteristic to Sap standard InfoObject?

Hi Experts,
Please anyone let me know how can I add a new characteristic or a key figure into an SAP standard InfoObject in order to add it to the standard InfoCube? The situation is I would like to add region and business unit to the characteristics of the Industrial Hygiene and Safety. After that, I would like to add them to the InfoCube called Accidents: Person Involved [0EIH_C02] that is located in the MultiProvider called Accidents: Complete View [0EIH_MC01]. Is it feasible to do this way?
I just learned the BW/BI, so please help me with this. I would really appreciate your responses.

Hi Napadol,
To add a attribute in a char:
1) Go to info object/char in change mode and add the additional attribute you want and select navigational attribute in attribute tab if you want. (Create these additional attribute first in info object catalouge)
2) Activate the Object/Char
3) open info cube in change mode and pick the characteristic from left panel to info cube dimension.
4) Activate infocube.
5) Go to multi provider add the char in one of the dimension and do identification for this char and activate.

Can't find the standard infoobject/infocube in BW system

I have studied BI for only 2 months. When I try to extract data from R/3 system, I find that I can't find the standard Infoobject/infocube such as 0plant, 0purchaseorganize both in RSA5 and RSA6. Our basis team advice me to install a patch for my SAP gui. So could anybody tell me which patch should I install

Do we need install datasource at frist,then go to RSA1-> click on BI Contenct button on left -> click ........
If yes,how does i know which datasource need be install;
for installing 0PLANT - go to RSA1-> click on BI Contenct button on left -> click on object types -> Expand infoobject -> click on select objecst and clifk on find and type 0PLANT and click on transfer selections

Yes, there is a standard info object - 0ORGUNIT and it have standard hierarchy also.
at ECC side, T CODE - RSA5, please search for it.
Data source name - 0ORGUNIT_HR01_HIER.

I have Standard Cost as time dependent attribute for 0Mat_Plant. How do I use this Standard cost values of different times ?
for Eg : How can I get this report in BEx

Note: Actual scenario is different where I have to use standard cost of different years in formulas

what is Standard cost? A key figure? Where is it stored?
Please take a look to infosets. There you can do some time dependet reporting.

But why you dont create a navigational attribute by using Standard cost? Than you can create a structure with two elements - one for 2006 and one for 2007 where you can restrict the attribute by calendar year (if available)!
But i dont know how your data model look like.
