Using a tablet with Photoshop CC

I'm using Photoshop CC with a Wacom Intuos tablet.  I'm sort of inclined to think that the issue I'm having has more to do with a tablet setting than a Photoshop setting but I was using this same table with CS6 and I don't think I was having this problem but either way I'm sure I'm not the only one on this forum who's used a wacom tablet with Photoshop so hopefully somebody can help.
With the paintbrush selected if you press and hold with the Wacom pen then brush options appear in a floating box.  Can I turn that off?  It's screwing me up because anytime I want to draw just a short line or spec it seems to bring the options up and doesn't draw my line.  I sometimes like to paint textures on whatever I'm working on by making several specs of various colour and layering them up, but those short specs are pretty much impossible cuz it doesn't seem to realize I want to paint unless the pen is moving a bigger distance.
Like I said, this seems like it's probably more of a Wacom issue than a Photoshop issue but I can't find any settings to change that seem like they would fix the problem.  Anybody out there know how I can fix that?
Thanks!

I was having same problem using Photoshop cc and windows 8.1.
I first noticed when I was using clone tool. If I held down pen to start painting from clone source the dang circle appears with brush options.
Here's what I did to fix it.
Make sure your tablet is plugged in and working.
Go to Windows Control Panel
Select Hardware and Sound.
"Pen and Touch" should be listed, and select "Change Tablet Pen Settings".
A dialog opens. Look for the box that has the line inside that says "Press and Hold", and select that line.
Then press Settings button under box. This opens a new dialog box. At the top you need to UNCHECK "Enable Press and Hold for right-clicking". Hit OK, etc.
That seemed to fix problem.
It seems under windows the default way pens work is that pressing and holding is equal to a right click. So unchecking that turns this off.
I also disabled "Flicks" as well in same dialog box and I thought it may affect how my pen works when drawing.

Can iPad be used as a 2nd monitor or graphics tablet with Photoshop/Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet?
I called Wacom as asked this question but the guy was clueless, and I'm sure they'd rather have you spend $1000 on their Cintiq instead of $29.95 on a Pen.... I figure I'll get more use out of an iPad and save around $400...
Or maybe this is jsut a far fetched idea...

    Any ideas?

My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images from Lightroom and choosing the "Render using Lightroom option when it popped up in the dialogue box. She has been doing this for over a year and a half without any problem. Today when she hit Command E no dialogue box appeared and the image just opened in Photoshop. I'm concerned that all of her Lightroom edits are not being rendered to Photoshop. Anyone have an idea as to how we can get the "Render using Lightroom" dialogue back?

  • Using a Table PC Like a Intuos Tablet with Photoshop

I use an Intous tablet with my desktop PC to edit my photography in Photoshop.  While travelling I've been using a laptop and a small Bamboo tablet.
I'd like to use a simpler travelling solution, a tablet PC if I can use it like I use the Intous tablet.
Does anyone know if this is possible?  It would be great to use the tablet PC instead of carrying around a Bamboo tablet.

  • Troubleshoot using wacom cintiq 21ux pen tablet with Photoshop cs5

    Hello to all.
got my new Cintiq 21ux today. ! its my first pen tablet and i really love it !
i worked it perfectly on my photoshop cs4 and after watching some videos and reading articles i decided to upgrade to CS5 and that is when all the problem started.
long story short it seems like every time i open photoshop CS5 my wacom keyboard shortcuts and the pen calibration feat' vanish like i never did them and i need to re do them again from scratch.
to be more percise with my broblem:
I spent about an hour fixing the all the keyboard shourcuts on the Wacom "Tablet Properties Shortcut" menu (from the control panel) and i calibrated the pen.
after installing photoshop CS5 I lunched it and when i grabe my pen to try and work in the cs5 i got a messeage "Pen display tablet calibration reminder". i got the same message when i used the tablet for the first time and to my suprise when i went to the "Wacom Tablet Properties" menu - all the shortcuts i made disapper as i have never done them....
I maid a new keyboard shortcuts for the photoshop cs5 and closed the "Wacom Tablet Properties" menu. i opend it again just to make sure that the shortcuts had been saved and they had.
i opend the photoshop cs5 for the seconed time and when i moved my pen close to the tablet i got again the pop up window with the messeage "Pen display tablet calibration reminder".
needless to say - all my keyboard shortcut vanished again as never been maid.
i am using a strong pc computer with windows 7 and i have i downloaded and installed the latest cintiq wacom driver - the 6.1.5-3 driver version.
    thx in advance @

  • Using Lightroom 5 with Photoshop CS4

Hi folks. New Here. I am a novice convert to digital photography and I have browsed the discussions concerning Lightroom and Elements in the main.
Is there any need to buy Lightroom 5 to deal with cataloguing and searching imported RAW images with Photoshop CS4, as Photoshop Bridge 4 comes with Photoshop CS4? What is a good strategy for dealing with libraries of images? I have the chance to aquire inexpensive versions of LR 5 and P CS4.
For your information - I am using a MacBook Pro with a quad core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Flash drive and my camera is a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS.
    Many thanks.

    Thanks 99jon,
I appreciate the careful and easy to understand reply, Jon99. Versions of P higher than CS4 are prohibitively expensive for me at this stage. If I get on with digital photography then I might look at the PCS and L CC subscription option in the future.
I went ahead I aquired my bargain basement version of P CS4 and like it so far, but I held back on LR5 until I had a clearer view of what it enables me to do and thanks for the information.
Do you or anyone know if I can sell my version of P CS4 when if I decide to move up to the Cloud solution? Flicking through another Pogue-style book seems to suggest that the latest versions of P CS and L are the current state-of-the-art. Is there a simple list of what users of this option consider to be the main, *essential* improvements of the latest versions of these two pieces of software that possibly make it a must-purchase. I am not after an exhaustive list, but just the main improvements that may make this an essential purchase after I cut my teeth with P CS4.
I am a real novice and have included the specs of my camera and MacBook Pro in my previous post for anybodies info in order to help me.
    Many thanks,

  • Using iPhoto 08 with Photoshop elements

I am a recent Mac convert and I'm loving it.
However, I need some help understanding how best to use Photoshop Elements in conjunction with iPhoto 08. I was thinking I could use iPhoto to keep track of photos and do basic edits and link to other iLife apps etc, and use Photoshop to do more indepth editing.
I would like to know the most efficient way to open photos from inside iPhoto, into Photoshop. And how to get them back into iPhoto.
I realise I can drag a photo and create a copy on to the desk top and then open it with Photoshop, do some editing, save it to a/any folder, then import it back into iPhoto but…
    1) is there a better way to do this?
    2) I'm concerned with filling up my hard drive with multiple copies!
I'd be greatful for any help, Thanks

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Is Extension Builder 2.1 using Flash compatible with Photoshop CC also in the future? (There are speculations, that it will be switched off, what will destroy my investment in that code)

I have codes a lot of stuff using Extension Builder 2.1 using Flash technology to be compatible with Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC.
There are speculations, that the support for this would be removed in Photoshop CC. This would destroy my investment in this code and my customers would not be able to use my products anymore, when they are using Photoshop CC.
Is there any workaround planed for customers using Photoshop CC to be able to run extension build with Extension Builder 2.1 and Flashbuilder 2.6 also in the future?

    Can you supply a link?

  • Using Mac Mini with Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom

    Hi
I use Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 mainly as I am a photographer. It involves both programmes live and some huge PSD files kicking around. I would be interested in hearing from any one who does similar on a high end mac mini. I am thinking of getting the high end new i7 with 16g and an SSD.
    Any good ?

While it will not deliver 'blazing fast' performance, it has tested OK with Photoshop CS6 MGE recently and it has faired decently well in some benchmark reports. Since the OP insisted Mac Mini, I think he can go for it. Also, since his work demands more 'Photo-specific' editing, I guess he should be good. Not much 3D I assume!
    Here are some references:

http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html - HD4000 has been tested with CS6 by Adobe
And I haven't heard of a 'reported failure' per se yet.

  • Using multiple pens with Photoshop CS4

    Hello,
as some of you already know, in older Photoshop versions (5.0 and 5.5) there was a possibility to use multiple pens with the help of the old Wacom Tool-ID Plugin.
Isn't there any way to port this old plugin to Photoshop CS4? I would like to use my Airbrush & Grip Pen with different colors and brushes by simply changing them.
If this way is impossible, would it be too difficult to create such a plugin by myself? (With the Photoshop SDK and so on).
    thanks,
    Matthias Clasen

  • Using Elements Organizer with Photoshop CS2

I have grown comfortable with Photoshop Elements integrated organizer and have upgraded to Photoshop CS2 and instead of using the CS2 file manager would like to continue to use the Elements organizer. The problem Im having is when I edit a photo in CS2 and save it, I have to go find the edited file in Elements organizer and add it manually to the organizer, where if I edit in Photoshop elements, the file is automatically added in the organizer for me. Is there something I can do to make this more automatic when I edit in CS2?
    Thanks
    Joe

    Joe,
I have all the current updates for both products, but other than that, I've
    done nothing special.
For regular file types (jpg, psd, etc.) the handshake goes without a hitch.
Raw files act a little quirky. Raw files do get passed from Organizer to
CS2 and they open in camera raw. But, I've found that if you don't press
the "open" button in camera raw, CS2 will give you an error message that
says it couldn't receive the document from "Photoshop Album". Click ok on
that message and you get another that says it could not complete the update
from the Photoshop Album command because of a program error.
If, I press "open" in the camera raw dialog to edit in CS2, all is fine. If
I make changes and save, Organizer pops up a message saying I've returned to
Organizer and gives me an option to add to a version set or keep it
separate. It adds to the version set fine. But, since I only selected save
in CS2, it remains open there. If I make further edits to the open file and
save, I have to manually update the organizer thumbnail. On the other hand,
if I just click close and respond yes to the "save changes" message , I get
two popups -- one labled "edited file from Photoshop" and "new edited file".
If I click "ok" on both, I get two entries in the version set. (I've done
that with a regular file and I only get one popup.)
So, there you have it. Ordinary files work as expected. But, raw is quirky.
Raw files work fine if you continue to open in CS2 from camera raw and only
    save once.

  • Using a Tablet with Infinity

    Hello Community,
At the ripe old age of 67 I am considering purchasing a tablet to complement my laptop at home.  I currently have BT Infinity Opt1 at home with black Hub3 I believe and would ask for help and information on the following.
I assume I will be able to use my tablet at home within a reasonable distance from the hub.  First out of the box, again, I presume the device will detect my hub's signal and link to it.  And lastly, will I be able to use it out-and-about away from the home hub.  I have heard the terminology "Hot Spots" but how do I know where they are and if I am near to one.
I hope I can link up with my original BT Broadband service with my tablet and not have to upgrade or find another provider to do the same job.
I do not have agreat understanding of these things and would ask for your help on this matter which would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

  • Can I use Lightroom 3 with Photoshop CS3 ?

Being unfamiliar with Lightroom, I would like to know, before I buy it, if I can use v3 and higher with my Design Standard Edition, which includes
    Photoshop CS3.
And if so, can I download the newest RawUpdate (6.2) for use with Lightroom 3.x or is this of no use ? Or is the use of the newest Rwa update only possible in combination with CS5 ?
Would be glad if anyone could help, because I dont't find a suitable answer in "system requirements" ...

You can use Ps CS3 with Lightroom, but ACR 6.1 is only compatible with CS5. That being said, everything that ACR 6.1 has is already built into Lr3.2. Adobe also update ACR and LR at the same time, so new camera model support shouldn't be a problem.
