Using a toString on arrays

Question

Hello,
I am trying to format the output and I did not make the array an object therefore I am having trouble writing a toString method for it. Here is the code. Can someone tell me how I might be able to change the code so that I can write a toString for it? I tried making the array as an object of Main but then it will not accept ints x and y as indices. Thanks.

I guess you need something like printf:
int[] array = {3,7,99};
System.out.print("     |");
for(int i: array) System.out.printf("%5d", i);
System.out.print("\n-----+---------------");
for(int r: array) {
  System.out.printf("\n%-5d|", r);
  for(int c: array) {
    System.out.printf("%5d", c*r);
}produces:
     |    3    7   99
-----+---------------
3    |    9   21  297
7    |   21   49  693
99   |  297  693 9801"%d" means a number
"%5d" means a number, column width 5, right aligned
"%-5d" means a number, column width 5, left aligned
