Using a "tv-tuner" card as video in

We're a television station using Skype for on-air interviews as well as with one of our employees who does traffic reports out of her home office every morning.
Here at the station, we need to integrate the "camera" into our system so the other person can see when we're on air and also any video that they may be referencing.  How we've done this in the past is we've used either a TV Tuner card or a video capture card and we feed video video into the card from whatever source we need.  The tv-tuner/capture cards have always been recognized within Skype.
We're currently running version 6.0.0.126 with automatic updates turned off, but Skype is complaining saying that we need to upgrade because this version will no longer be supported.  We can continue to run this version, but we've been told there are times when we're on-air or recording an interview and we get a notice on screen that says we need to update.  Not very cool!
One of my coworkers said he's read where people have had better luck with USB based tuners so I just purchased a Hauppauge USB-Live2, which says right on the box that it works with Skype. Unfortunately the latest version 6.18.60.106 doesn't even recognize the tuner.
Are there ANY tuner/capture cards that are recognized within Skype or is there a different version of Skype for broadcasters that makes allowances for another video source other than a webcam?  We can't be the only ones having this issue...

One of the guys here was doing some research as well and found on Skype's website that that they are disabling all versions 6.13 & below.  The current version is 6.14.
Also, he did extensive testing and found that even with the newest version of ManyCam, Skype 6.14 doesn't see that as a "webcam" either.  So at this point, if we're forced to upgrade to the latest version of Skype, there is NO option available for anyone we Skype with to see our return video.
It looks like Microsoft is forcing our hand once again and we'll HAVE to purchase Skype TX when it becomes available.  Hopefully they won't disable the previous versions until they release this new hardware.  I can only imagine the cost as it sounds like it will supply all necessary inputs and outputs. We're currently using a Matrox Convert DVI box to get the video out of the computer and routed into our broadcast equipment.  The Matrox box costs almost $1,000, so I'm guessing that the Skype TX with the same functionality will be along the same lines.
Time will tell...

  • HT1918 i want to know how to cancel a credit card account and just use an i tunes card

How do I cancel a credit card account and just use my i tunes card?  Every time I try to use my i tunes card, it reverts back to the credit card account which I do not want to use.

If you do not have your card registered to your iTunes Store account, then these are most likely fraudulent charges to your credit card directly rather than an unauthorized purchase through your iTunes Store account. Report the charges as fraudulent to your bank. They will probably cancel your existing credit card and issue you a new one.
    Regards.

  • How to use Avermedia TV Tuner Card

How to get Avermedia card to work on HP desktop and be able to use only one remote for sound and channel changing.
Adventures with a new HP "All In One" 23Z Pavilion computer
OLD PC - Some history first. We had an older (2008) hp all in one desk top with a touch screen. It had Windows Vista and it was getting harder to keep updated. This computer came with a built in TV card, IR receiver, and IR blaster output port and accompanying cable. We have Comcast service and have the upgraded digital set top box. We used Windows Media Center(WMC) to watch TV on the computer. We configured WMC so it would understand the Comcast remote's commands and transmit them over the IR blaster to the Comcast box. We taped the outboard end of the IR blaster cable to the front of the Comcast box, directly in front of the IR receiver eye. We were able to use the remote provided by HP to change channels and adjust volume, and mute. (All the commands we needed to watch TV). WMC had some basic record and play facilities that we seldom used.
NEW PC - We decided to upgrade to a new computer and got the latest HP pavilion all in one desktop. It originally came with windows 8.1 which we later upgraded to 8.1 pro. HP support told us that we needed 8.1 pro to get WMC. More on WMC later. We got an Avermedia card with the new all in one desktop computer. It worked fine with the Avermedia software. Although, we had to use 2 remotes, one for the Comcast box to change channels and one for the HP computer to change volume and mute. We got the Avermedia TV player version 1.8.1 with the Avermedia H8370 USB Hybrid ATSC/QAM card. The Avermedia TV player was easy to configure.
We got WMC for windows 8.1 pro and hoped we could configure it like our old computer to work with one remote. When we tried to configure WMC, it stopped and would go no further without an IR receiver. Since the new computer came with a remote, we thought it had an IR receiver built in, and so did HP. Come to fine out, the remote works in conjunction with the keyboard and mouse, wirelessly. It doesn't work when the wireless receiver is unplugged from the USB port. There is no on board IR receiver in the new computer. We were looking on line and found a USB connecting IR receiver that has an HP brand name on it and comes with a remote and IR blaster that should allow it to transmit the IR signal to the Comcast box. (like our old setup) We ordered it and installed it. It did not require drivers to be installed with it. We went back to configuring WMC and got past the "no IR receiver message" and after several tries at configuring the Comcast remote(eventually with some success), finally got a "display driver error, the video playback device does not support playback of protected content.", and we could go no further. Comcast broadcast signals are encrypted, but not protected. Also, the Comcast box is hooked to the Avermedia stick by a coax cable that broadcasts on channel 3. I would expect this kind of error if we fed the Comcast cable directly into the Avermedia card. Anyway, while playing with WMC to get the right remote signals and configurations, I noticed that the Comcast remote would now adjust the volume on the HP computer. It's working through the new IR receiver. We abandoned WMC and all its issues and are now using the Avermedia software with one (Comcast) remote. We did get an IR extender cable from Comcast that allows remote transmission of the IR signal to the Comcast box. We then were able to mount the Comcast box behind the computer monitor and just stick the IR extender receiving end on top of the computer monitor. All I can figure is that the signals for volume up and down and mute must be common to the Comcast remote and the HP computer. We did not attempt to reconfigure the Comcast remote with any "TV" codes, we are just using the default settings on the Comcast remote.
All the Comcast functions work normally since we are using the Comcast remote, the only commands we really needed were to control volume and mute on the computer, and this now works. The Avermedia software has some basic recording functions and we now have all the facilities we used to have.
All we really needed to buy was the IR receiver to make this work. We didn't need the HP remote (we now have 2) and the IR blaster cable that came as a package. The IR receiver was listed as a NEW HP USB MCE IR receiver/Remote Controller/IR emitter Win 7 Vista. We got it from ECHOMAN out of Las Vegas. We found it through Amazon for about $19.00. HP can't find this as a product from their company so don't try. There may be other solutions out there but this worked for us.
The new HP "All IN One" is not really "All In One". It came with 4 2.0 USB ports and 2 3.0 USB ports. I've had to use 2 of the USB ports to get the TV working and 1 to get the wireless keyboard/ mouse working. The old computer had on-board IR receiver, TV card, and wireless keyboard/mouse receiver and IR blaster port/cable.
We were very disappointed by both HP sales and service in support of this product. Sales didn't know what they were selling and promised everything and there was virtually no support from the hardware/software support team. We finally did get some support from HP but it was in the form of "Case Manager" when we finally threatened to return the product. HP did give us some help by offering an extended warranty at no cost for all our trouble. We contacted Avermedia for help and they would only refer us back to HP because they were second party retailers. Avermedia did give some support but only after repeated e-mails. All this knowledge was gained through the school of hard knocks and really looks simple when you look back on it.  So we hope this will help someone who finds themselves in our position.
    This question was solved.

This problem has been solved.  We sent the Hp computer back and bought a DELL that has an HD port that connects directly to our comcast set top box and we push a button and it goes to HD TV mode and push it again and it goes back to pc mode

  • KT4V (with lan) and TV Tuner Cards

I have a MSI motherboard model MS6712. This device isn’t compatible with any PCI TV Tuner Card. When I am using a tv-tuner card, after some minutes the computer crashes and the only way is turning off the computer by switching off the power. This problem happened with four tv cards which I have used. My motherboard has been replaced two times with others MS6712 motherboards. But the problem, which doesn’t happen on a MSI MS6385, is still persistent. Drivers and Bios are up to date.
My motherboard has known incompatibilty with any tv tuner card? I think that this problem affects any MS6712 motherboard.
Anyway the problem is surely caused by the hardware or by a defective BIOS.
    My Pc:
    Motherboard MS-6712 + lan
    Athlon XP 2000+
    VGA GeForce 4 MX440 - 64MB SDR - APG 4x

  • Family sharing without a credit card and using I-Tunes card

i Do not want to enter one of my credit cards into my Apple account, my wife, daughter and myself always just use I-Tunes cards to buy stuff. Is there any way to have family sharing without entering a credit card? I just don't feel secure putting it in my account.

Hy, I live in Belgium, and there are different methods of verifying your identity and age (electronic ID card) and furthermore it is not for my children I want to set up family sharing but for my wife and me and she is certainly of legal age. On the other hand, my eldest is 14. So what is the problem with identity certification as all the Apple ID s I have created (for my wife, my mother, my stepmother and several other adults in my entourage happened without credit card, but with an iTunes card). The use of credit cards is not as common in Europe as in the US.
what could be a solution to this problem ?

  • HT1541 Ok I put the wrong e-mail in when i redeimed my new apple i tunes card worth $25 dollars and now i cant use it. any suggestions

Ok i put the wrong e-mail in when redemed my new i tunes card and it was worth 25 dollars and now its saying i cant use it. HELP

First, you're not communicating with Apple when you post in these forums. The only people who will respond are fellow users and there's nothing we can do directly with this problem.
But I can tell you that if you redeemed the card through the wrong iTunes Store ID, then sorry, but there's no way to transfer credit from one account to another. You'll have to use the iTunes Store ID under which you redeemed the card to make your purchases. You would not have been able to redeem the card through another account unless you had the password to that account, though, so you may not have actually successfully redeemed the card. Have you tried to redeem it through your "real" iTunes Store account?
    Regards.

  • Using FIOS TV with internal tuner card in a PC?

I've checked the FAQs and many of the postings but haven't seen anything about this, which makes me wonder if I am looking in the wrong place :-)
Is it possible to view FIOS TV using an internal computer TV Tuner card, and using Windows Media Center to view programs?
I do not have any premium channels, like HBO, etc.  I have not purchased a tuner card yet, (pending the answers I get here), but what I have seen online for various types of internal computer tuner cards mentions Digital ATSC, Digital QAM, etc.  It seems to indicate I can connect the cable directly to the TV card if the channels are not encrypted, and therefore I would not need a set top box.
My question is, can I connect the cable directly to the tuner card, without a set top box, or must I have a set top box in all circumstances?  Can I see anything without the set top box?

Unless the tuner card has provisions for a cable card (would be rented from Verizon for $3.99 / month) all channels with the excption of the broadcast (OTA) and PEG channels are encrypted.  That means no ESPN, USA, SyFy, etc. - only the broadcast networks, andy local independents, and any carried Public Broadcasting stations.
Actually has been discussed many times - did you try the forum search feature?

  • Why do I have to verify payment information when I am using credit from an i-tunes card?

I am trying to purchase music using my credit from an i-tunes card but it keeps trying to get me to verify payment information.  Does this mean that I should have kept i-tunes card?
    Thx

I have the same issue, but in my case it will not let me change the payment method to None without entering a valid credit card. I used a prepaid card a while ago  and I don't have a credit card so how do I change my payment method if it "requires" me to have a valid credit card first?

  • How can I view a video camera plugged into the TV tuner card's S-Video socket

HP Pavillion Elite HPE Series desktop. TV tuner card AVerMedia H752. Video camera connected to S-Video socket. Win7 64 bit OS. How can I view the camera output? Windows Media Center does not seem to provide a means.

    Hi,
Sorry, I don't know what are you trying to do. The Tuner card is like a TV which allow you watching TV like normal TV on your computer. The S-Video is OUT only, plugging a video camera to it won't do anything good.
    Regards.
