Using a video stream (NOT streaming a video clip) in Flash?

Hello,
I need to get a RTSP video stream into Flash but I can't
figure out if it is possible to do. Also, the stream is encoded
using H.264 for video and AAC for audio. Any suggestions on how to
make this fly is more than welcome.

Just check it with the .flv files. If it works fine for them
then your code is fine and you have to search for your format or convert it in flv my any means.

Problems exporting files using xFire video clips

Hi - first time posting.
I recently started using XFire to record videogame footage from my PC. I would then take the clips into Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and edit them, and now I'm ready to export them so I can re-edit them (because editing with the xfire codec is quite a hassle) and ultimately upload them.
In this particular example, I'm exporting to the HuffYUV format - this is what happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jHBhpl_3G0
This clip is 90 seconds long, exported in the HuffYUV codec, 360x240 (to keep the file size down) - but as you can see, at around 0:54 and then again at 1:15, the video would freeze, rendering the clip unuseable.
I've tried various formats and sizes - I'm trying to export at 1440x960, and I've tried HuffYUV, Lagarith, Raw (No Codec), MicrosoftVideo1, etc - most of them, when I make a 30sec clip, it works fine, but when I make the 90sec clip, most of them would start having the frozen frames at ~2 seconds in, but all the file formats do eventually have a frozen frames.
I've tried converting the xfire video clips BEFORE putting them into Premiere by using Media Coder (not the Adobe one), but the result looks something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8LEO3fGSaM&t=0m17s - you can see horizontal interference as well as a lot of jumpy frames
I just got this computer a few months ago - I'm using Windows 8, 64-bit, 16gb of ram.
So, what's happening? What's the best way for me to fix this? Thanks in advance.

The most likely reason is that you are attempting to export a muxed mpeg file. QT will not export sound from such files. QT Mpeg Limitations
This freeware will export to a number of different formats from mpeg with the sound and video intact. Mpeg StreamClip

What is the easiest way to use a video clip as the DVD's menu and have titles?

Ok, I"m using Ppro CS4, and I have a clip that i would like to be the title screen when the DVD starts. I then want to click on something like Play movie that will play the movie.
I want the Menu to be the actual video clip playing in the background. I am going to be importing several projects from CS3 into the fished version and would like these to be set up as seperate from the main movie......but something that can be clicked on and watched. (I guess I'm wanting titles)
any help would be appreciated. I have searched around and kind figure out how to do this. Do I need to use AFter Effects, or Encore, or what.

I would suggest that you post this to the Adobe Encore>Menus & Buttons forum. What you want to do, if I read correctly, is pretty simple. There will probalby be links available to step you though it. I'll look for this there, and start gathering some links.

Playback problems and video freezes due to plugins being used on video clips?

I am editing with Premiere, and dealing with playback issues and video freezes as I apply plugins to each video clip. Not sure how to fix this problem. I am a mac user, but I cannot upgrade my graphics card, so I am wondering how to fix this issue.

How to play a video from web using ipad (video was in flash player format)

I am looking a way to play a video in flash player format in my iPad and all I can see is nothing! Do someone know a way around it?

Adobe has not made a version of Flash for the iPad.

Flash 8: Import video clip - no playback on website

So for the first time I imported a video clip into Flash 8, used the wizard and even found a tutorial that basically walked me through the steps of the flash wizard.
I imported a clip from my computer, progressive download from web server, tried both encodings of flash 7 and 8 medium, SteelOverAll skinning, the let flash do its thing, set my publish settings, published, tried it out and played SWF, looked fine, then uploaded the SWF, FLA, HTML and FLV on my web site but all it does is "waiting for .... .com", my website. I double checked in different browsers, Internetexplorer, Mozialla, Chrome, all having Flash Player 10 latest version and the FLV file is only 1.2MB big, yet after 10 minutes still nothing playing back online.....
...did I overlook something here? Any thoughts?

When testing on your local machine, are all the Flash related files in the same folder?
Are they all in the same folder as the Web page itself?
Problem could very well be just a simple pathing problem... to review Flash pathing, from an old post:
Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location. So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

Flashing/noisy line at top of video clip when importing

Hi,
I am running into a strange problem when importing from my video camera. The top scan-line (or two) of the imported video clip is flashing! If anyone knows the reason for this, or has a solution to get rid of this problem altogether, please let me know! (its the first time I've ever tried importing!)
The workaround is to manually crop the top of the video, which I cant really do in imove for free? and would mean having to edit each clip...there goes onestep iDVD

Analog-to-DV conversion adds narrow black borders to the left & right (and some analog "head switching" noise to the bottom).
If you view the output on a TV, then the overscan will automatically crop the borders out. But if you view the output on a computer monitor, you might want to crop them out. You can do this with MPEG Streamclip ($0):

My TRV320 D8 doesn't have such lines so your problem sounds strange. Have you tried to clean the camcorders heads?

My Video Clips Won't Load/Show On Site

Dear IWEB Community,
Decided to create a website using 3 video clips of approximately 30-40 megs each. Created the site using IWEB. No problems having it work on the desktop, and when I use the localhost with FireFox. However, no matter what I do, and no matter the various options I've tried with sizing these clips, they either won't load onto the site or play.
I created the clips using IMOVIE HD, and everything seemed to work alright there, and since the clips run without problems on the desktop, I am confused as to what else to try.
I guess there is the option of putting the site on another server, but just having plunked down $150 for 2 megs of space on mac.com on the premise that it would all work effortlessly by doing so, I want to try and make it work.
Any suggestions accepted.

Varkgirl is absolutely right. A 30-40 MB movie file, and 3 on the same site to boot, is enormously big. It's a wonder it will load at all, let alone refuse to play. You need to search this site for QuicktimeKirk's many posts on how to reduce video files to a manageable size. Also there's several applications that can reduce the size, Quicktime Pro, VisualHub and ViddyUp! just to name a few.

HT2499 Video Clip function in Lion

I recently upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and I've just now discovered that the DVD player no longer includes the video clip function. Am I missing something? Or did Apple stupidly reduce functionality in their DVD Player? I used the video clip function all the time as I teach film and often have to create in-DVD clips for viewing in the classroom. I'm so frustrated that the function is no longer included. It was a great solution to exporting clips manually, which often required a compression of the files and reduced image quality. Apple makes it virtually impossible for users to export clips in their desire to "maintain copyright," but they've now removed one fo the best tools for avoiding this. What gives?

No, I didn't resolve the problem. Apparently Apple removed this feature from "upgrades" to their DVD software with Mountain Lion. So frustrating to see software *lose* functionality with a supposed upgrade.

User defines video clip order for playback

I would like to have a site that has several vieo clips in a
library where the user could drag and drop to a time line for video
playback. I have seen this but am ot sure if it is a third party
program or created rightin flash.
For instance
The user sees three short video clips and can view each one.
They can then drag these to any orrd they want in a timeline and
then view all three at once as a "complete video." can anyone

"You can't" is the sad answer to this questioned topic.
I wanted such a simple move yesterday in Flash, but was literally depressed to learn that you "can't" keyframe a move on a video clip in Flash. Shame on you Adobe! Today, as suggested in this , I am trying to get that same keyframed move in AE, and am failing because keyframes and the graph editor make NO SENSE!!! So, in Flash "you can't", and now today in AFTER EFFECTS - "you can't either".......
I've been producing broadcast 3D animation for nearly 25 years, and have produced some of the finest complex keyframing in Lightwave, Softimage and 3D Studio Max. I do realize that those are 3D programs, but a keyframe is a keyframe, and the defined functions of bezier vs linear in a graph editor should be consistant everywhere. There is no consistancy of keyframe usage and function WITHIN the Adobe family of animation softwares! Adobe - you lie by telling me that I can keyframe in After Effects - your keyframing is very difficult to manage and unpredictable - and your graph editor is an absolute joke, which deserves deletion! Oh you can keyframe in AE - ONLY if you just want to go from point A to point B with NOTHING ELSE. Only 2 keyframes at a time, and don't you dare try to mix bezier with linear keyframes in AE either!,,,, lets keep everyone safe now, by keeping keyframing -constrained at Pre-School Levels please.

A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Also make sure the domain where strobemediaplayback.swf is being called from and resides, is in your /webroot/crossdomain.xml file, or it will not work.
