Using a WD My Passport to store a CC of my iMac boot system volume.

I am in the process of learning how I can configure my early 2009 iMac, presently running 10.6.8, to be capable of dual-booting 10.6 or 10.7.
So far my inexperience in this process has made this all take longer than I'd like, and my limited system resources are a factor as well.
I do have a WD My Passport 500GB HD that I have been using as back-up drive using Time Machine. I recently reformatted the My Passport from Apple Partition Map to GUID so it will be capable of startup. I have since re-backed-up my internal HD with the new partition.
The only thing is, I need to confirm that the WD My Passport can also be partitioned so I can use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy my existing Snow Leopard boot volume, apps, and permissions (and whatever else I need to keep SL functional) to a partition separate to where my back-ups go.
What I'd like to do is then install Lion on the iMac internal HD, partition it, then transfer the cloned Snow Leopard volume over to the second partition.
One thing I have been made aware of during my research, that since the WD My Passport is a USB device, I am guessing this process could take awhile. Had I been familiar with FireWire at the time I got the EHD, I would have gotten one. However, I'm stuck with this drive, so It'll have to do.
Simply, what I need to know is this:
- Can the WD My Passport be partitioned to store a CC of my Snow Leopard volume without disturbing my back-ups?
- Will it still perform back-ups correctly with it having a second partition?

Use a seperate powered drive for each backup method, not smart to have too many eggs in one hardware basket.

Oh my! Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing. But I do know that my goal was to do both---backup AND free some space. My iMAc is old (2006) and I upgraded it a year or so ago to Snow Leopard. I didn't think I had the capability of backing up without an external drive, but maybe I do since I upgraded. Do I?
But I bought this My Book mostly for freeing space because I like to make cards in Photoshop and I'm forever running out of space when I get too many layers (don't really know what I'm doing there, either).
Is there some way that I can rectify my mistakes and start all over?
Thank you so much for beng so prompt with your reply and patient with mine. I tried for so long to see the dialog box with the library listings. When I launched iPhoto, even with holding down the Option key, it kept immediately launching into the full screen. Finally, after an hour of doing it over and over again, it worked when I held the key down for 5 minutes. Then when I was typing my reply, I kept getting a message to "Request Time Out." Didn't know how to do that, so kept hitting the OK button and kept typing for another half minute. Finally, when ready to send, Safari couldn't do it. "Try again" exasperated me until I realized I would have to begin again and use Firefox. When I got there and ready to type, I got the message that my message had been retrienved and did I want to use it?!!
So your kindness is very much appreciated.

Using a variable in SQL to store intermediate results

I'm new to Crystal Reports, so pardon my ignorance.
I need to write a SQL statement in Crystal Reports (Ver. 11) that uses results from a query and stores them in a variable for further use in the statement. Something like this:

Simple answer... When I used the variable, I marked it as a string. There is an email address setting.

Open the latest version of iTunes.
Choose Store > Sign In from the Store menu.

If the apps that are on your son's iPad were purchased under his Dad's Apple ID, then signing your Apple ID onto the iPad will not help you with updating those apps.
Also, if the iPad was sync'd with his Dad's iTunes library, then hooking it up to your computer/iTunes library, will require you to reset the iPad, and everything that was loaded under the other Library and Apple ID will be wiped out.
Can you provide a little more info about what was set up under which Apple ID and what iTunes library the iPad was sync'd with?

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID. Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". Also uncheck the other phone's phone number, if present.

Were you not plugged in via USB to begin with?
I would recommend performing some resets just to be on the safe side. Unplug the external HD, and try these steps:

This might be more of an Itunes question, but I would like to know if there is a problem using a network Hard drive to store all my music on? I'll be using 2 computers to access it, 1 computer handles my kids for there Ipods each having there own logins, and the 2nd computer for my Ipod..
Or do I need to have one computer with 3 seperate logins.. I just want to do things the right way without violating anything.

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

Using those instructions you may also be able to select PayPal if that is allowed in your country.

Use of a content server to store attachments in SRM

We already have an SRM system in production storing many large attachments on table BBPCONT.
We are facing huge performance problems because:
       a) SRM holds the whole file content in memory during document upload.
       b) During the process of saving the document, SRM creates one record in VBDATA table for each row that will be stored in BBPCONT. For large files, this process of inserting data at VBDATA takes a very long runtime.
I have two questions:
   1) Anyone already handled this situation ?
   2) We are thinking about using an external content server to store attachments. My concern is related to the attachments already stored at BBPCONT. Will these documents be available to the user or it is necessary to build conversion programs to move attachments from BBPCONT to the external server ?

1) Yes, but we anticipated this performance issue by switching to an external Content Server. I also remember one performance issue: when you are uploading an attachement in your session, the system will store it in a temporary table BBP_TRANSCONTENT (the content is not stored in memory). It will be definitively stored in BBPCONT only if the user saves the purchasing document (otherwise we pollute the final table).
2) You have to "migrate" old documents from BBPCONT to the new Content Repository (ex:Content Server). There is a report for that : RSIRPIRL.
