Using a WRT54G2 on an X-Box 360

I have another WRT54G2 router that we use for 3 computers at home and were told the same router could be used to transmit the signal from my son's X-box in place of the original antennae. I have not been able to get it to work despite reading and trying many different ways to "connect" the 2 routers to "see" each other. Any advise ?

The second router I just acquired from eBay. It is supposed to take the place of the MS Xbox antennae by plugging the internet cable into the xbox and provide a stronger signal at a lower cost. It can't be hard wired to the router we use for internet access because they are 35 ft apart thru 3 rooms in the house. It is supposed to send the signal to the router the same as the original antennae. You're saying it is impossible for this to work ? or do I need to assign it a static IP like the link you provided ? It doesn't seem to have an IP address now. Every test I perform comes back as unidentified with no assigned IP.
My computer doesn't have an internal modem. It only has an Ethernet card and a cable to the router to get to the external modem. If the "adaptor"/router is dependent on sending a signal to my computer to forward to the modem, that isn't possible either. The person I bought this from hasn't responded to my request for help yet. If this can't work, I'll request that I get a return authorization.

keep getting that MTU incorrect error even tho i did reset it...i tried from 1364 to 1492....ive added the xbox in the router to open the xbox ports..(was a preset) have Universal plug n play on...looks like i am totally out of options..and looking at the googled question...with all the FIOS user that cant use XBOX im not alone..
also where the HECK is the direct i want to talk to someone in bangladesh FIOS support number??

well, when you connect it wireless - do you know if you get an IP address? you would either see that in the xbox network status screen, or in your router.
so log into your router by entering http://192.168.1.1 into a web browser. admin is your username, and your password is on the service tag of your router. its located under the bar code and it starts with a CSJx0000000 it IS case sensitive.
when you log in click on my network at the top and see if the xbox is listed there.
If it's listed in there, (which I am assuming since you can use the preconfigured port forward) then you may just need to increase the MTU to 1500 in the router, or experiment with the MTU in the advanced settings.
Where are you putting that MTU ? in the xbox or in the router? the router is set to 1500 so maybe you should match it up. There's a lot of people that can connect their xbox live to the routers, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty, but we can try to help you.
I would start from scratch personally. so that means
Hard reset the router (in the back there is a reset button, press it and hold it for 15 seconds and let it go)
plug in the xbox to one of the LAN ports (1, 2, 3, or 4) do NOT plug it into the ethernet WAN port.
try to connect to the xbox again.
let us know what happens after that.

Linksys E-3000 - Best Configuration for X-Box 360 NAT - Please Help

I just upgraded from a basic, starter, Linksys Router to the E 3000. I was hoping for better performance all the way.
However, my X BOX 360 performance has really slowed down.
I saw a few posts that had some instructions on how to do a port forwarding and using static ips etc. However, my knowledge of such configuration is very limited. Can someone type out some more detailed instructions on what I need to do in my router settings page? I would really appreciate any help since the xbox experience has become really really bad.
Also: does anyone have any best practice on which wireless channel to use? Is one better than the other?

Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave User name blank & in Password use admin in lower case.
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings.
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings.
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" sub tab.
1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done.
2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings.
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses.
4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1.
5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox. Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox.
6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute.
7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it. It will connect.

As Christopher says, it's a compilation. Different tracks are by different artists.
Setting the *Album Artist* field to *Various Artists* and setting *Part of a compilation* to Yes should be all that is required. Depending on your *Group compilations when browsing* setting ( I recommend On ) either should suffice but I suggest doing both.
Based on your commentary, I selected all the "O Brother" tracks, and checked the boxes for everything line that was blank in the Info and the Sort panes. Only exceptions were the album name and the disc number 1 of 1 and the artwork. I blanked and checked anything else.
That's not what I meant. When you select multiple tracks, only those values which +are already common+ to all tracks are displayed. Typically these will include Artist, though not with compilation albums, Album Artist, Album, No. of Tracks, Genre plus various sort fields. A blank value may indicate that different tracks have different values or it may be that the value is blank for all tracks. For the drop down values on the Options tab the value shown may not reflect the information in every tag. If values you expect to be common, such as Album Artist or the Album title are not displayed you can simply type these in and click OK. This will often be enough to group the album.
If you place a checkmark against the blank boxes and apply changes then you will clear those fields so you should only do this if that is the effect you want. Putting a checkmark next to an empty (representing different values) *Track No.* box, for example, will just clear the all the track numbers which is very rarely useful.
Adding then removing extra text is for a specific problem where despite all common values being identical across the tracks of the album iTunes seems to "remember" that it should see two albums. A typical example would be when an album originally listed as *Album CD1* & *Album CD2* is given disc numbers X of Y and then has the Album name changed to Album. I've seen iTunes merge all but one track into the new album, but insist on listing one remaining track separately, despite both albums having the same title. In this case I've found overtyping the album title again has no effect whereas changing it to AlbumX and then back to Album does what I was trying to achieve in the first place.
Don't forget that even properly organsied albums may still break up if you don't chose an album-friendly view. Sorting on the track name or track number columns can be useful in some circumstances but in general I revert to Album by Artist when browsing through my library.

Url used to show in the url box when opening from a shortcut or email, but now it's not there. If I refresh the page it is. How do I get this back the way I like it?

The url of the website that I'm visiting used to show in the url box when I opened from a shortcut or email. But not it's not there unless I refresh the page. I've looked and haven't found a way to set this so that it works like it used to. I liked being able to click in the address bar and copy the link, or even to look there and see where I am.

I'm unable to check it in safe mode because the only time it happens is when I click a link and have not firefox open. For example if I would click a link in my email right now, it would open in another tab and show the address of the link I clicked. But if I didn't not have this window open and clicked alink, it would open a new window and I wouldn't be able to see the url.

Photoshop 13 wont install off disc. Can I download it and still use the serial number off the box?

Yes, you can use GarageBand loops for commercial purposes. Here's the Apple Doc:

I don't know about the YouTube form, maybe you just fill in "Apple Loops", they certainly have come across this before.

Using Automator to create a text box of certain size

I'm very new to using automator... in fact I haven't used it at all, but I am wondering if I can use it to create a text box of the same size each type to type in within preview (a PDF document). Basically I want to click or push something and have a text box be generated that is the same size each time.

- Get Specified Finder Items, and point it towards the folder that will contain the movie.
- Get Folder Contents - to get what's inside the folder.
- Filter Finder Items - set to filter by 'Name Extension' 'Is equal to' 'mov' and make sure all your video files have the right extension...
- Open Finder Items - in QT Player - note that this might cause problems if there are multiple files in the folder...
Then from the QT Player actions:
- Play Movies.
2. Save As... Application, then after saving, drag the app into the login items for the user account.

The top screenshot is the Windows Open dialog box. All File > Open... commands in all Windows programs bring it up. Try File > Open in Notepad for example.
It belongs to Windows not Adobe. You cannot change this because there is no such thing as an Adobe Open dialog box.
The bottom screenshot is Windows Explorer. It is Windows' OS File Browser, not an Open dialog. It is not called up by Photoshop or any Windows program.
You have to click on "My Computer" or a Folder icon to get to it. You can double-click a psd, jpeg or other image file in the Explorer window so that it opens in Photoshop.
There is Adobe Bridge and Minibridge Alt + Ctrl + O or File > Browse in Bridge

Where is my page loading indicator bar that used to appear in the address box?

Just updated to FF 36.0.1. Now I no longer have the red bar that used to appear in my address box that showed the progress of a page loading. Do I need to set an option somewhere or is it an extension/plugin?

If you had a progress bar in the address bar, I think that probably was created by an extension. Perhaps the extension needs to be updated? You can check for extension updates on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, above the list, click the "gear" button and Check for Updates.
Also, if the extension is disabled it will appear at the bottom of the list on a grayed background. Hopefully after any available update you can re-enable it in that case.

Basically I was just wondering if the Macbook Air 11'' can be used a display monitor for the Xbox 360 due to me smashing my TV... Ooops.
I tried with a thunderbolt to HDMI socket and then plugged that into my Xbox with no luck ! If it is possible in some way could you please explain what parts are need and how it would need to be set up.

Can images be used as selections in a combo box in Acrobat 9 Pro? I only see options for text choices when I look at the combo box properties. Basically, I want to click the drop-down and see images (small logos) from which to choose as opposed to text choices.
