Using accessories with second gen

Hi All,
I just got a second gen nano. I have accessories from my first gen, but the sec gen does not fit them! wth?! did they move the plug ins? will i have to buy all new speaker docs and fm transmitter or can i buy the little slide ins somewhere. this really ***!

So, in your opinion, every time Apple updates their product line they need to provide a list of third party accessories that are not going to work with the new model?
Do you know how many third-party accessories there are out there?
It makes more sense to me to leave it to the user. I'm getting a new iPod soon. I know which of my current accessories will work with the new iPod and which won't. I wouldn't expect Apple to inform me of this though - they didn't make these accessories, they don't provide support for these accessories, and they don't know what the manufacturer of these accessories may have planned in the future to accommodate the new iPod (as Bose and others have done). I can only get this information from the manufacturer of the accessory.

There is an interesting conflict when using the javascript package Prototype with the auto-generated jsp for worklist forms.
Inside the main JSP is this javascript function, which iterates through the keyNames array associatively:

However because of Prototype's modifications to the Array object, this function fails. To make it work, change the function to this:

FYI: I first discovered the problem when the Save button became disabled (after adding Prototype), and Firefox kept reporting the js error "globalUpdateForm has no properties".

My code is in a java Exec, in a bpel process. I am not using any JSP pages. What do you mean by child of the orabpel process? How do I check if my bpel process is a child of the orabpel process?

Using Apple TV second gen

On my Apple TV, I watch movies I have on my computer. For some reason today I am asked to sign in with my Apple ID which now doesn't work. I am at a loss as to where to go. Is there a way to start over on this thing. And by the way there has to be a better way to put in alpha numeric data on this thing. Thanks Jerry H

Can't use iTunesU with 4th Gen iPod Touch?

I want to use iTunesU but it requires iOS 7. I'm on an older iPod Touch 4th generation and it won't let me update to iOS 7. What can I do? Is there a version out there I can use?

You cannot overcharge the battery when using the power adapter. Once the battery is fully charged, the iPad will no longer continue to charge if it is still connected. I leave my iPad on the power adapter for hours on end - on weekends when I am not at work.

These are both worthwhile reading for concerns about the battery and how to properly maintain it.
I know nothing about external speakers with the iPad since I do not use them - but If the speaker is with a dock of some sort that charges the iPad - you should have no worries. If it is a dock that charges the iPad - I know of no way to turn off the charging feature, but it will not shorten the life of the battery anyway as long as the battery is properly maintained and cared for.

i had the facebook app but i could never upgrade it and i was ok with using the outdated version but when i reset the ipod so i could gift it to a friend it obviously got rid of the app and now i cant downloaded because it says its not compatable, how can i download the version i had before i reset it?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

Trying to extend the WLAN range by adding an additional Airport Extreme second gen with Ethernet as backchannel.

I'm trying to extend the coverage of my home WLAN by adding an additional airport express. I want to use Ethernet as the back channel but whatever I do this ends up in a situation where the WLAN dies completely. I have been able to extend the range by using WLAN to WLAN extension but this reduced the bandwidth a lot.
I have an VDSL modem and uses a airport express as access router. with this unit operating by iteself everything works fine.
It is when I add a second airport express (both second gen) that I get in trouble.
Any idea of what goes wrong?

It is best to set up the extra AE to create a wireless network. You should use the same name (SSID) as you did when setting up the first one. Also use the same password and encryption.
Put the network channel selection on automatic or select different channels for both networks.

I have exactly the same problem.
I'm a little peed-off with Microsoft on this. The original wireless controller I have doesn't work either since the cable I'm using is 'just' the charge and play cable, so a direct connection to my Mac won't work with this cable. It's a cable for god's sake. Why on EARTH put any limitations on this!?!?
Next I learn I need an additional USB wireless receiver from Microsoft to get my original 360 controller to talk to my Mac. As I certainly don't want to fork any more microsoft dollars on this, this is not an option.
Next I think, yes! I have a MadCatz 360 wired USB controller. This should surely do the trick just plugging it in and the way I go. But oh no, for some reason I plug my MadCatz Xbox360 controller in, it flashes a few times then switches off and can't be turned on again.
The System Profiles recognizes it as a MadCatz 360 device controller but that is about it, but the ontroller software I download for the System Prefs (360Controller, USBOverdrive etc) don't even recognize the controller as being plugged in.
What the **** Is The Microsoft Deal with all of this!?!?
PS: Oh, and I forgot to mention, there are No drivers for device 4716 that I can find on the MadCatz website, or am I going blind?

How to play a slideshow (with movies) from Iphoto to Apple TV second gen

Hi,
Does anyone know how to play a slideshow with movies, that I normally play perfect with Iphoto (I even can add music)to let it stream to the Apple tv second gen?
So I have some movies on Imac from a holiday in Egypt and Iphoto alows me let it play as a movie.
How can I setup my Apple TV so that it is the same on my Apple TV? So with nice fade ins and outs?

Ok Thank you, but I have one more question.
The Iphoto library is loaded with different movies and Photos. They are sorted by date.
Is there a possibily to make folders in Iphoto. So that I have on folder called for example "vacation Egypt" and put all the movies in this folder within Iphoto?
And then when I select this map it will make a slideshow from all this movies with music? Just like in Iphoto?

Thanks but I had already read this, and it was no help at all. Under the Summary tab, "Options", there is no check-box to manually manage my stuff. I suspect this is because it is a 2nd gen iPod, with ONLY manual management. The only way to delete my stuff seems to be to reset the entire device.
I like to listen to podcasts. What is particularly frustrating is that the 4th gen shuffle CANNOT play podcasts, but ONLY music, which I discovered after a lot of research and multiple visits to an Apple store. So I have to resort to an older version of the shuffle to play podcasts And now with the latest version of iTunes there seems to be no way to delete any podcasts on the older version. On the computer you should be able to go to the network properites. Go to the TCP part and unchec the line that says obtaind DNS automatically and check the one that says use the following. Add the 8.8.8.8 and Google other 8.8.4.4.

As far as I know, this headset isn't compatible. I had one and tried using it with my 1st gen touch with no success.

You should always have your apps on your computer. If you have failed to keep a copy of the old app versions, then you cannot get them back at all.

Yes you can, and it's then up to you whether to have the same the same or different content to the older one. When you sync to it your computer for the first time it may be best to give it a different name, just so that you can distinguish them.
