Using ACD LED 24" iSight with Skype (or other programs except for iChat)

Hi,
I have my MacPro connected to the ACD LED 24" (USB + Mini DisplayPort + magSafe) and it works well except for that the ACD has the iSight camera and I cannot use it with Skype. So when I talk to sb using the video I have to keep my macPro open to use it's camera, and not the ACD iSight.
Has anyone experienced the same problem or sm knows how to solve it?

ISight with Skype and aMSN - inverted picture

When I use iSight with Skype or aMSN, the picture is horizontally inverted and no longer functions as if I'm looking into a mirror like with iChat.
There are no options in either program to change this (that I can find). Does anyone know of a solution? I would like flip it horizontally so the image is as if I was looking into a mirror as per iChat.

Did you get enough info from Tony (Defcom) to consider your question Answered?
I know of no cheaper solution to your problem for both Skype and aMSN than the $8 iGlasses suggestion than Tony offered, but there may be individual solutions that some aMSN or Skype users could recommend.
If you are willing to consider different software for each application, you can search the great Skype Help pages for Skype-specific help or post your question in the Skype for Mac OS X forum.
For a aMSN-specific solution, try a search or post in the aMSN Forum.
If you need more suggestions or information before you can mark this question "Answered," please let us know what part of your Topic still needs to be addressed, and we will try to give you some other suggestions.

I can go to every other website except for facebook even if i use other browsers all i can see is 404 Not found or HTTP 500 Error since yesterday I tried reinstalling clearing history and cookies enabling them make sure that my firewall permits me to acce

I can go to every other website except for facebook. I try every other browser in my computer but the only thing I can see is HTTP 500 error and 404 Not Found. I tried clearing cache history and cookies, enabling cookies, checking my modem, make sure my firewall permits me to access this web and even pt 's' in front of 'http' but it still dosent work. I can go to facebook with my dad's laptop and my handphone but not with this computer, why?

Problem Resolved!
          I found out that I had 'http' instead of 'httpd' in the statement where I
          registered my servlet, SqlServlet.
          Now, I am having difficulty with hot deployment. The server is returning

I just watched my first movie using Apple TV and Netflix. Apple TV works great except for then I try to switch back over to tv mode I get the cable channel info on the bottom of the screen but no sound or picture. What did I I do wrong?

It was easy to set up, easy to use, got done watching the movie. Transferred from HDMI to TV and as my question above notes. I am on TV, my cable information (show/channel/etc) show OM the banner on the bottom of the screen, I can view the channell guide, but, my screen is white, no picture no sound? Skype for Mac does not do video yet, they say it's coming 2nd Quarter of this year we will have to wait and see.

Hey there~ I always have video chat with my boyfriend through Skype and it was working fine previous, but then here the problem that I couldn't use the video chat anymore since few days ago. I tried to turn on iChat, the indicator light was green when I clicked on the video chat, but it just not work with my Skype all of sudden.....
The indicator light is off and I couldn't click on the 'webcam' icon as well....
May I know what's going on and what can I do with that..... Thanks for reading this post and I do appreciate for all your kind helps~ thanks!!

Consider the following in any order you think relevant to your system.
(0) I understand that neither iChat or Skype can do video for you. First, restart your modem (and router/wireless access point if you use one) and Mac and test again. If the problem persists, you can check whether your problem is with your internet service or in your Mac by taking your MacBook to a different location (friend's home, a computer store, library, internet cafe, etc.) and trying the connection there. If it works when you are not in your normal location, ask your ISP to check for service problems.
(1) If the problem is the same in any location, the trouble is in your Mac. Try all relevant suggestions from:

If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
(2) However, if after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, your built-in iSight still does not work with Skype but it works for all the Apple apps you try, you need Skype-specific Help. For your Skype-specific problems, start at

(3) If you cannot find the answers you need in Skype's FAQs or knowledge-base, searching or posting Skype's dedicated forum may give you an answer already discovered by the Skype users who post there:

(4) If you have updated any of your Mac software "since few days ago", you may need to update or reinstall the latest version of Skype:

(5) If your iSight is not recognized as a USB device in your Mac's System Profiler, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
(6) Your system info shows that you use Mac OS X (10.5.1). Unless you have compelling reason for not updating, you should be using the latest version of your Mac OS. Update as follows:
• Use Disk Utility to repair permissions.
• Download and apply the 10.5.8 COMBO update:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
• Repair permissions IMMEDIATELY again after the restart that finishes the update.
Then test again to see if it helps the problem.

How do I use facetime to teleconferfence with skype users ? or do I need a skype account ?

FaceTime can not communicate with Skype users. You will need to download Skype.

Firewire iSight with Skype?

is there a way to access the firewire Apple iSight from Skype? I use ArchLinux on a PC, not a Mac! I installed v4l and v4l-utils!
The kernel seems to recognize a firewire device:

I have set up all my mac devices to sync with iCloud and all work except for email. When I delete on one device, the delete doesn't occur on the other devices.

Thank you for your interest. I use apple mail to access my two accounts -I guess they are 3rd party accounts. One is a gmail acount and the other is a bigpond account. I admit to a lack of a high level of literacy when it comes to the language around all of this. For example, I am aware that I have an iCloud email account as I managed to set it up, but don't really understand the purpose of it as the last thing I need is yet another email account to oversee.

Adobe flash does not work on bootcamp windows 2002 xp. down loaded to windows. works with Mac. No program folder for such. shows up in "add delete programs" (in setting) but without a file size. I have a MacBook Pro purchased new in June 2010.

Using bootcamp (windows 2002 xp) I down loaded adobe flash player from the windows platform. told me it installed successfully. however does not work in windows, does works in mac. in xp there is no created program folder for such or created short cut. In the control panel (xp) in add/delete programs it is listed but wihout any file size or frequency used. I've deleted & reinstalled numerous times. Mac OS is 10.6.8. Windows is 32 bit. Can't find a thing that discusses this. THANKS!

Why can I video chat with everyone on my list- Except for one person?

Recently, my friend and I have been having problems video chatting with each other. A couple of months ago, we were able to screen share, voice chat, and video chat just fine. I can, and she can too, do all those things with all of our other iChat contacts. Except when we try to do anything with each other, it says "A problem has occurred with iChat". We've tried it multiple times on different computers, internet connections, etc., but it never seems to work. Is there a way that my friend and I can start to video chat and screen share again? This problem has just come out of the blue, and it is really bugging us.

Have either of you changed a Router at all ?
I have some info dating back to iChat 3 listed here
As time and iChat has progressed so has our understanding of NAT (Network Address Translation)
In some cases the way the Device that does the routing at each end does NAT means you cannot get a video connection.
If it was working and now doesn't it suggests something changed.
As changing setting would more likely effect every Buddy at one end it looks more like a hardware issue (at least in terms of the devices functionality)
Make, model and version numbers of any routers may help identify something specific.

ISight with Skype Video 'Beta'

Has anyone tried using the leaked 'Beta' Skype that supports video calling on the Mac platform with an external iSight camera?

Although Skype Beta is unsupported it is now officially available from the Skype website for 'trial purposes'.
So far our family have tried it with G4 Powerbook & camcorder combination, Intel iMac with built in iSight & PC with logitech web cam. Worked on all three, and between all three in various combinations, including internet & wireless networking. It even supported the animated 3D Avatars of the logitech webcam without any problems,
For a beta version this really is very stable & much better that the previous alternative of Yahoo webcam plus Skype voice.

I use it with a Powerbook G4...so G3 might not be enough...here are the system requirements as listed on Skype's web site:

How do I use my built in ISight with MSN?

All my friends I want to talk to are on MSN, I have the most recent version of it but when they invite me to a webchat, I do not get any invitation, is ter a solution, it seems no one I know knows, any ideas gratefully received. Thanks.

Try using aMSN as your MSN client if you aren't already doing so.
