Using Acrobat artwork in an InDesign file

Hi,
Hope you're doing well.
I was sent a final logo as a PDF to use on a poster I have created in InDesign.
The way I chose to bring it into InDesign was to take a screen shot of in in Adobe Acrobat, save it as a tiff and place it in the InDesign file. However, I am experiencing some loss of quality in some of the smaller type on the logo (not helped by the fact that it has to be small on the poster.)
Is there a better way for me to be doing this? I'm pretty sure I also tried placing the PDF directly into a Photoshop file, saved it and then placed it in InDesign and got a similar result.
Thanks very much for your help.

Feel free to download the PDF Options Editor : http://abracadabrapdf.net/download/PDFoptions-editor.pdf.zip
It allows to edit options for placed PDF into InDesign layouts.

  • How to check the resolution of a pdf file using Acrobat 9 pro?

How to check the resolution of a pdf file using Acrobat 9 pro?

PDF files don't have one resolution, but may have none or many different resolutions, one per image. You can check the maximum/minimum resoluion with preflight in Acrobat Pro, but not in Adobe Reader.

  • How does I resize a pdf file page using Acrobat Pro?

In Acrobat Pro, how can one resize a pdf file page (21.38'' x 26.75'') into one measuring 6'' x 9'', to be submitted as the trim size? Is there a feature that allows this to be done? How does one set all print options from the Application print dialog box to enable one to adjust the dimensions of any customized file page?

I want to scale the 21.4'' by 26.8'' content down to one that can be fitted inside a 6'' by 9'' book.
I have this pdf that was created from the InkFlow app, and I'm using Acrobat Pro to merge three files into one (about 300MB), which I needed to submit to Amazon's CreateSpace, but they needed the trim size of 6'' by 9'', while the pdf is 21.4''' by 26.8'', and I can't amend the source file size of the InkFlow files.
I tried fiddling with the Crop and Print options, but I'm unable to resize the pdf to match the trim size. The problem on my side isn't so much on printing but to resize the pdf file page to 6'' by 9'' to satisfy Amazon's requirement for their trim size. Could this be done with Acrobat Pro? The message that appears is: Full print options of Acrobat Pro, set all print options from the Application print dialog box. Thank for the help.

  • Converting .docx to a pdf using Acrobat X, it says file type unsupported.

Please Help! When I try to convert to convert my .docX to pdf using Acrobat Pro X, it says file type unsupported.
When I use "save as" "pdf" in Word, it allows me to save the file as a pdf, but then the URL links in the resulting pdf will not work. They all say page not found. (The url links work in the Word document.)
I am using a Macbook pro, 10.6.8; Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac; and Acrobat Pro X
    Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Hello, thank you for responding.
Yes the url links start with http:
For example when I type in
    http://canberracontemporaryartspace.wordpress.com/2013/07/06/staying-out-of-trouble/
in the word document and click on it, the link works; but when I save it as a pdf it says "not found"
And then when I type in

in the word document and click on it, the link works; but when I save it as a pdf it says "page not found"

  • Uneven text from MS Word 2007 using Acrobat 9

I'm using Acrobat 9 to create PDF files from files prepared with MS Word 2007.
This was all working well on my old XP PC. But now that I am working with Windows 7 on a new PC, I am getting a problem. The text in the PDF file is noticeably uneven compared with the text in the original Word file -- some letters are bunched together and others have relatively large spaces between them.
I have tried choosing 'High Quality Print' as an option in A9 but it makes no difference.
Any advice will be very welcome.
    Gerry

OK, I thought I had solved the problem but now the problem has come back.
Using PDF Maker, I am trying to set the preferences to embed all the fonts: Under Advanced settings, I have a tick in Embedded fonts and I have unticked Subset fonts. I have also set the compatibility from 6.0 to 8.0.
The trouble is that, although I am saving these settings in the joboptions file, they keep going back to what they were.
Please could you tell me what I should set and how to make sure they don't keep going back to old settings?
    Many thanks.

  • Can Adobe Acrobat support import of 3D file formats?

I work on a Mac Pro and recently acquired a 3D software package to generate rendered drawings.  I want to know if my file formats can be imported into Acrobat?  If so, what are the "save" and/or "export" formats that Acrobat will provide?  What version of Adobe Acrobat do I need for the Mac?
    Thanks,
         Darrell Bird

    Hi Darrell,
You should be able to use Acrobat XI and import U3D files. You'll be saving a PDF from Acrobat that will allow the model shown. Tetra4D is an addon that would give you more options.

How do I open a pdf book cover file using Acrobat XI into Indesign CC?  Everytime I try, it says I am trying to open a file that has been saved wrong.

PDF files cannot be natively opened in InDesign. They can only be placed as graphics.

  • Using Acrobat X and creating a PDF File from EXCEL 2010, I notice that the Pagination restarts at 1 for each Worksheet included in the PDF.

I use Acrobat X Standard and created a PDF file from two or more worksheets using EXCEL 2010.
The resulting PDF file restarts the PAGE # (In header/footer settings of Excel) at 1 for each worksheet.
However, a colleague of mine who has Acrobat X Pro version, using EXCEL 2010 and same exact file does the same task, he gets a file that starts at page 1 and second worksheet continues the page # from the last page of the First worksheet.
We both are using the ACROBAT menu (not the print to Adobe printer) to create the file so that we can get Bookmarks included in the resulting file for each worksheet.
We cannot figure out any option in Acrobat's preferences that controls the pagination on either of these versions of Acrobat.
So is this just a feature that works one way in Standard version and another way in the Pro version, and the user has no control over it?

This is so sad. I read your comments and I said, "Huh?" Haha!
I tried the indexed color option and it did make the final file smaller. Around 600KB. But there's probably another way to make it even smaller like the gazillion-paged pdf file that I mentioned that was only about 300KB.
And by saying a layout program, does that mean like Adobe InDesign? Does that mean that I should just make my graphics in Photoshop and then import using another program and finish the file there?
What other layout programs can I use?
    Thank you so much!

I am in the middle of a job using CS 6, but at the same time opening the Creative Suite apps.  I created an InDesign file in CS 6, saved it, and now I can't open it. I'm getting this message: Cannot open file because it was saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign CC (10.1). You must use that version or later to open the file." AARRGGHH! So how do I access the file?

Sounds like you opened and saved it in CC, so now you need to go back to CC and either complete the project there, or export to IDML to take it back into CS6.

  • I am trying to use Acrobat XI to read an XML file to fill out a form.

When I try to import the data into the form from an XML data file - I get an error message saying that XFAImportData cnnot run because it is not a trusted environment.
I have sigend the docs and have added the host to the extended security list but it still does not work.
I have done this before with Acrobat 9 and Livecycle ES2 and it was very useful. This new version has some differences and I am hoping to do some useful work with it - My current employer doesn't use Acrobat and I am trying to sell it into their work flows, etc - but I am having trouble doing this relatively simple thing .
Where can I get (concise and succinct information on this topic ? ) I have read the livedocs and it is all but entirely obfuscated - Is this intentional ??? - Does anyone have expereince with this and can they offer some detail that might be helpful at this point .
    Any help is Appreciated .

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.

  • How can I embed metadata in a pdf file using Acrobat XI Pro?

    Hi, everyone!
I need some info how I can put things like key words, description of the file and the like permanently in the file to let it 'travel' in the file everywhere, no matter what the OS is. I guess I should use Properties 'path' but it resembles Windows system properties, so I'm not sure. Moreover, there's so little about it in manuals....
Once I've done with it, can it be read just by Adobe Reader?
And one important thing more: is there any inner search engine inside Acrobat XI to search the files by key words and other similar metadata criteria or I'm solely dependant on the OS search function?

Thanks for the link - it sounds highly specialised, but simple experiments of opening a Properties Windows and putting some description notes and author or key word is readable by Acrobat reader or the system search engine so maybe it's not really complicated - mind you, I don't mean right-clicking on the file where options are poor and probably thode of the OS but Preferences edition after opening the document in Acrobat XI Pro - I hope this one is of Adobe and maybe I won't need Bridge to read it I know in the suggested thread it's a problem of graphics metadata within the pdf file....

I am using Acrobat XI Pro and tried to install the current update. I got this error message: "Error 1328.Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\pT64b3.tmp It has probably been updated by other means1 and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor." tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still get the error. Searched for C:\Config.Msi\pT64b3.tmp and cannot find the path or the file

For AA XI, you only need the 11.0.09 patch. Download from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (Use "MAC" if a MAC is used).

please give mme the solution to move the Multiple pages or a group of page from one Indd to another Indd.

Hey Peter, if I wan to move several page that part of Auto Flow text, I checked the "delete page after moving" but the content still there, not deleted.
Is there any way to delete it automatically, just to make sure I have moved that autoflowed page?
