Using Act contacts and outlook contacts.

I have a TX and just installed the ACT for Palm OS which of course overwrote my personal contacts. I want to have my personal contacts separate from my ACT database because it synchronises with work. Is there a way to have 2 database programs, etc. kept on the unit. Either in separate programs, etc? From what I have been able to determine, any contact program uses the same file.

Another approach would be to use an Outlook type of database.
Take a look on line at "Beyond Contacts" at www.dataviz.com,
they make the Documents 2 Go products.
This software uses a separate database.
Another 3rd party software solution is Key Suite made by
www.chapura.com. Some of the Chapura products work with different Palm products. The TX is called out for the Key Suite.
I do not use either of these products.
Be careful in your selection of software as the TX still has some operating issues with 3rd party software.

Problems with outlook and address book contacts: my outlook contacts had around 3,000 entries. Outlook duplicated by itself and now outlook and address book have each over 340,000. What should I do?

I reinstalled microsoft office and, thus, outlook, and reinstalled mac OS X system and applications. While I managed to delete outlook contacts so that I can re-sync with my blackberry, the contacts at Mac Address Book were not deleted and still have over 340,000 entries. I do not mind deleting all contacts since I have back up, but I have not been able to delete them. Also, when I go at Address Book and try to delete or merge duplicated entries, the system takes forever and never ends because of such large amount of entries. Worse, when I do so I run out of RAM memory.
My Macbook pro is just 2 months old.
What should I do? Is there a way to delete my Mac Address Book without having the problem above?

I have no other account other then my iCloud account (from what I can tell), but "My Contacts" has a significantly smaller number of contacts then "All Contacts".

Thanks for posting the screenshots, that's helpful. I didn't realize that you were looking at your groups.
"All Contacts" include (as the name implies) all of your contacts. Below that are any contact groups that you may have defined. These would normally be such things as "Work", "Personal", "Doctors", etc.; any groups that you find useful to define. These contain subsets of the "All Contacts" group.
At some point, perhaps inadvertently, you must have created a group called "My Contacts", or imported it to iCloud from your computer. At the time this may have contained all of your contacts and would have had the same number of contacts as the "All Contacts" group. Then over time you probably added 433 additional contacts that were never part of the original "My Contacts" group, resulting in an "All Contacts" group that contained 1465 contacts.
If you don't have any use for the "My Contacts" group, you can delete it by clicking on it on the left sidebar, click the gear icon on the lower left and choose Delete. If you're concerned about doing this, you can make a backup of this group first by selecting it on the left sidebar, clicking on a single contact within the group, pressing Control-A to select them all (they should all be highlighted), then clicking the gear icon and choosing Export vCard. This will create a .vcf file that can later be imported back to iCloud if you ever need to (by clicking the gear icon again and choosing Import vCard).

I can't text a contact but can voice phone them. I don't have the problem with any other contact and the contact is not blocked. I have an iphone5.0 OS 8.1.3

.m4r files sync but don't appear AND outlook contacts won't add to iphone?

hi guys,
This is my first post, made just a day after I got my iphone.
Now don't get me wrong, i love the iphone, but i'm worried i might have to send it back due to 2 glitches:
1) I exported all my contacts onto my computer from my old k800i, then imported them into contacts on outlook. Then I synced my iphone to outlook through itunes and it appears to be doing something on the itunes bar only for me to open my phone when it's done and the contact list is empty. It's synced the calender and itunes music thought.
2) I sent some ringtones to my friend who has a mac (I have a PC) and he changed them to .m4r files on that garage program on the mac, then he sent them back, i dragged them into the ringtone folder and they appeared. I went on itunes and they appear in the iphone tone menu, i sync with the actual phone and after saying it's done they don't appear in the tone menu on the phone.
That's 2 annoying things, do I need to send it back?
Any help would be great, thanks for your time.

Please follow the steps below to make sure the reminders have been enabled in Outlook:
On the File tab, click Options.
Select Advanced in the Outlook Options dialog box.
In the Reminders section, select Show reminders.
Click OK.

How can I use iCloud, but keep Outlook contacts separate from Yahoo/iPhone contacts?

I'm using a new laptop that uses Outlook and I want to share those contacts on my iPhone without merging them with personal and Yahoo contacts. Our tech guy told me to use my Apple ID, but that is what I use for iTunes, etc and when I used that ID it merged Outlook with my personal contacts which is what I don't want to do. Do I need to create a separate Apple ID for the laptop and use my old Apple ID for my Yahoo and iPhone?

The "All Contacts" view will consolidate all of your sources into one list. This is primarily for ease of use. Contacts synced from different sources, e.g. iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. are actually kept in separate data stores. There will be no cross-contamination of your address books.

Sync iphone 4s and Outlook contacts

i often get new contacts on my phone, and sometimes i get them on my desktop. I would like to sync the 2 platforms so that new contacts created on my phone will be updated on my desktop and vica-versa?
For example, i just created a new contact on my phone, and when i plugged it into my computer and hit the sync button, the new contact that i just created on my phone did not show up in my outlook contacts.
what am i missing?

i noticed that new contacts created in Outlook do end up on my phone, but how come new contacts created on my iphone wont be saved to Outlook

Why aren't my iPhone and outlook contacts separate in Outlook after syncing?

I have synced my iPhone contacts with Outlook (2013 running on Windows 7 Pro) but I find that in Outlook the contacts from my iPhone have been co-mingled with my Outlook contacts, all appearing under my Outlook exchange server account contacts view.
My Outlook contacts view does show other contacts categories: one called "icloud" - this contains only my own e-mail address registered to my iTunes account.
I have also created an iCloud e-mail account and set this up under Outlook, but this is also empty of contacts.
Does anyone know how to set up Outlook/iCloud so that my iP{hone contacts appear under the heading iCloud (or the iCloud e-mail account) rather than being merged with my Outlook contacts?

First things to check is to make sure iCloud is on on both devices and you are signed I n to the same account on each device. Also check to make sure Contacts syncing is on on both devices.

ICal Contacts Outlook Contacts and Outlook Calendar

BB Link does not work on either my Outlook (PC Win7) machine or on my Mac (Yosemite) machine.I can back up the device but the calendar entries and the contact entries just do not synch. In win7 the program just stops working. In MAc it appears to be doing something but no entries are updated I've read quite a lot but no-one seems to have the answer - perhaps I've looked in the wrong places? If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook. Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.

It's good to know. The Apple instructions for loading iCloud on a PC just seem to have either overlooked or hidden this limit. The larger problem is that it partially works: partially and erratically. So clean-up is great fun.

I eventually resolved this myself by resetting sync history ... at least I guess that did it.

If you are using iTunes to facilitate the sync of your contacts, then head to the info tab in iTunes when your iPhone is plugged in and uncheck the box for contact syncing. If you are using a push service then all you would need to do is locate in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or if you are using iCloud the Settings > iCloud and turn off any contact syncing.

Blocking and reporting contacts and non-contacts

Since switching to skype from MSN messenger i have only really had problems.
I have edited my settings so that I have privacy sorted and only my contacts can message me, but i am STILL having messages from a non-contact and have done since the 11th march. I cannot block them because they are not a contact and I cannot report them because they have not added me as a friend.
I am constantly barraged by this person and not in the best of tastes. Sort it out Skype! This is not acceptible!!

can nobody give me any ideas here? Come on you have someone using your service to make bomb threats...You are the only ones who can pull his information and report him properly.
