Using Address Book Contacts in Event Location

Hey everyone,
A quick question. I'm not sure if this function is available, and if not would be extremely handy!
Is there a way to input location information from a contact in your Address Book into the "Location" tab in a new event?
Rather than having to type it out and the address not be linked to anything, it would be extremely handy to have a function that you can type in a contacts name, and it links the address from the Contact's info into the Location field of the new Event, the same way that it does this for "Invitees".
Does this make sense?
Is this at all possible????

Same thing hapening to me; ever since I upgraded my Mobile Me Cal. I think it has seperated out my calendars so that now only those associated with the .ne account are syncing.
Total pain in the ..., haven't quite figured out how to rectify this. Obviously the mobile me team didn't think this one through.

  • Use Address Book contact pictures on other mobile / cell phones

    Hi,
Unlike most people I'm going to wait a while before getting an iPhone, so is there a way of getting the pictures of your contacts onto another phone?
I have a Sony Ericsson k800i. I have found the pictures under Library/Apllication Support/Address Book/Pictures. I have copied them to a folder on my desktop. I have added a .jpg extension to all images and even renamed them to something simpler.
I then transfered this folder to my phone expecting to be able to see the images on the phone, but no, the phone recognises them as pictures but they don't show, the only image that appears is the Apple logo that came in the address book.
What's going on? I can see the images in the folder on the desktop but not on the phone, does the phone's images have to be a certain size?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Iestyn

There was another thread on this, and I posted incorrect advice on it, but now I can't find the thread.  Someone pointed out my error, but it was so late at night when I saw it, I didn't respond at the time - so whoever you were - yes, you were right!
Yes, I agree with you, doesn't seem to work as well as on, for example, my old N80.
    I haven't found a solution either.
Not that that helps you, of course, but at least you know you are not missing something - or conversely, several of us are missing something!

  • How do I see a list of all my Apple Mail contacts. I do not use address book. I just want to see all the email addresses stored on my Mac

    Hi All,
I have been using Mail for the past three years without need to send a regular mailing list mailout.
I now need to send group emails and all I want to do is browse my contacts aquired over the last three years to create a list. I have not used Address Book for anything other than phone contacts so please do not point me in that dirrection.
There must be a list of all email contacts stored somewhere on the Mac that I can look through. It is an almost impossible task to do this by browsing my inbox/sent folders.
Hope you can help and thanks in advance!

  • Number of address book contacts on MacBook Air using iCloud is one less than my other iDevices using iCloud.  Is this a known bug?

Number of address book contacts on MacBook Air using iCloud is one less than my other iDevices using iCloud.  Is this a known bug?  I've checked for duplicates on my iDevices and I can't find any.  Additionally, I have wiped all the data from the Application Support folder of the address book and re-connected to iCloud, but it always shows 308 contacts instead of 309 found on iCloud and the rest of my devices.  Any ideas?

  • Since I moved to iCloud I can't Edit or Delete Address Book Contacts using my MacBook Pro

Is not funny at all, everything was fine using Mobile Me but since I switch to iCloud I can't Edit or Delete my Address Book Contacts using my MacBook Pro or my MacPro.
In my MacBook Pro, i open Address Book and on the left I have te list of all contacts, on the right the selected contact informations, below I only have "Add Contact" or "Share", my friend have "Edit" instead of "Add Contact".
If I click on "Add Contact" this is the result:
Are you sure you want to import 1 card? 1 card is a duplicate and will be updated.
Everything fine using my iPhone or the website.
    Apple, what's going on?

Here is some information and instructions from Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998
Please note that iCloud is geared towards being an instantaneous (and in some cases temporary) parking place for various things with iDevices; the access and useability from a computer is more difficult and, for most things, has to be done via the website icloud.com.

  • A few IPhoto Faces pictures cannot be used in Address Book contacts

    Hi all,
I have read some topics around about similar issue but I was not able to fix the problem by reading at suggestions.
Couple of days ago I have started to populate my address book.
I noticed that I was not able to use Faces from Iphoto to assign a picture to my contacts - the reason was Iphoto and address book probably use the same database and there was no match between a face and a contact. Only solution: retag the faces! I used the following method:
    1) choose a photo already tagged
    2) tag it again using a contact from the address book
    3) merge old tag with new tag
    4) rename the Face with a nickname I prefer instead of last name \ first name from address book.
It worked with the exception of 2 faces: every time I do step 4, in the address book I cannot find anymore the pictures.
I tried to delete the contact in the address book, use completely different tags and so on, but no way, it seems like there are some trash data or reference data preventing me from doing that.
I know it is only i face \ contact but would liek to understand why.
Any Genius that can help me?
    Cheers

    Update:
I think I have found the gap: if the name assigned to the Face has no reference with the address book contact, the issue is experienced.
Try to explain: my contact in AB is Dexter Morgan. In IPhoto I start tagging all the pictures as Dexter Morgan. Then I change the Face tag from Dexter Morgan to: "uncle D". I will not be able to use anymore a picture from the group unlce D to set an image to Dexter Morgan contact in AB.
In the case I would rename the Face tag back to Dexter Morgan o for example uncle Dexter, I will be able to use the images inside the group into the AB.

  • Using Address Book Exporter to move Address Book Contacts to Palm Desktop

I have had strangely mixed results using "Address Book Exporter" to create files that can be imported into Palm Desktop.
I really want to export all 1200 of my Address book cards to my new Treo 700P. Too complex?
I set up a new group in my Address Book and placed about 400 cards in it. I then used Address Book Exporter to export all of these records using template "Palm Desktop" onto a .txt file on my hard drive.
When I opened my Palm Desktop application and clicked on import, I first had to cause the dialogue box to show all files rather than just "readable files" in order for the exported files to be available. When I clicked on the file of 400 Address book cards that I had exported, I got the dialogue box similar to FileMaker where you have to line up the receiving fields in the Palm Desktop application with the fields in the file that Address Book Exporter created.
When I set the "fields" drop-down menu to "addresses" and set the "Delimiters" drop-down menu to "Palm Desktop", everything just lined up automatically. No futher adjustments were needed. I just clicked OK and the 400 records were transferred to my Palm Desktop Address list - ready to further transfer to my new Treo 700P - successfully.
But when I went through this exact same routine, instead exporting all of the cards in my Address book, when I got to the last step and set the two drop down menus - the "fields" drop-down menu to "addresses" and set the "Delimiters" drop-down menu to "Palm Desktop" - nothing happened. The fields in the exported file did not line up at all. The created export file I opened showed only one "superfield' with all the data in it (just as the earlier example had, at first) which would not change to all of the fields needed to line up with the Palm Desktop importing fields as had happened in the first example.
Why the two different reactions to what seems to be the same routines? Does Address Book Exporter have a cap on the size of the export it can handle?
    I just don't understand it.

Can I transfer my address book/contacts from a laptop with windows vista to my iPad mini?

To sync from windows things like Contacts, Calendars, and Mail you would need to have Outlook on the computer 2003, 2007, or 2010.  This article might help you out if your setting it up for the first time. Hope it helps.

  • Disappearing Address Book Contacts

This is a duplicate or my response to another similar problem, but I think this problem should have it's own topic.
My Address book contacts have been occasionaly disappearing, I would open Address book and all my contacts would be gone except for the "Apple" and "Me". And I would end up restoring from a backup, which I been doing fequently when this problem first started.
Recently I discovered what the problem is. I have an external drive connected and somehow my Address book contacts have defaulted to being stored on the external drive in a folder I had created for some temporary work some time ago. When I noticed it was still there (some time later) I trashed it.
It took a while for me to make the connection that when I deleted the folder, the address contacts would be gone. Because I wouldn't use my Address Book for days or maybe weeks afterwards
I finally realized that this "temporary" folder kept mysteriously reappearing, so when I checked, it contained the same folder structure as the <user>/library/application support/Address Book/ and sure enough that is where my address book is storing my contacts.
This has me baffled, there are no preference settings to even change the default storage location (or I couldn't find them) Looking at com.apple.addressbook.plist has no storage folder either.
Any ideas on how this can be corrected? Or even how it happened?
Little more information. This is my primary user account which has FileVault turned on and also syncs with dotmac to my MacBook. The sync works fine by the way, but those contacts should be within the secure volume.
My only thought for a fix would be to back up my user folder (data only, no settings). Delete the account. And then recreate the account and restore my data, but I'd rather not do that if I don't have to, I'm hoping for the quick and simple fix.
    What do yo think?

    Replying to my own post.
I think I've fixed my problem by simply disconnecting the external drive. With the drive disconnected, Address Book came up empty again. So I restored from my backup and checked that the files updated in the correct (home) folder.
    <user>/Library/Application Support/Address Book/
Still haven't any clue as to how my contacts suddenly started saving themselves on my external drive to begin with.

  • Can iPhone 4 contacts overwrite MacBook Address Book contacts?

Can someone please help me, perhaps Allan Sampson? My problem is that I somehow have >2,000 duplicate contacts in my MacBook's Address Book. Though I do backups, I've added dozens of new contacts to my iPhone where, so far, I do not have any duplicates. Basically, I need to somehow, if possible, overwrite all of my desktop contacts with the contacts from my iPhone. I've searched in the Apple Discussions for 2 hours and can't find an answer to this. The closest Google hit I found was http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2111565 but it did not work for me.
    Some background:
    - OS X 10.6.6
    - iTunes ver 10.1.2
    - iPhone OS 4.2.1
    - I am syncing iPhone with MobileMe account
    - iTunes is also syncing contacts with MobileMe
    - Under iPhone "Info" tab in iTunes, it is NOT set to Sync Address Book Contacts
    - This is not the first time I am syncing.
    - I called Apple Support. Zero help.
    - I can't use the Address Book "Look for Duplicates..." feature because I have a few dozen contacts that it will combine that I need to keep separate.
Could anyone possibly help me with this? My only other option is to manually delete >2,000 duplicate contacts...that would take me several months.
    Thank you!

I tried this http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1472736 , specifically Allan Sampson's suggestion (below), but it did not work either.
"The sync process for contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks with an iPhone is bidirectional with the supported application on your computer.
Enter at least one contact in the Address Book application and one calendar event in iCal on your Mac before syncing. Pay attention to any message provided when syncing such as merging data. If you are unsure about any such message provided, cancel the sync until you are sure."

  • Address Book Contacts Disappeared with new App Installation

Hello! I would LOVE anyone who can help me resolve this issue!
Yesterday, thinking it was smart to have another place where all my contacts would be backed up, I downloaded the Plaxo App for Blackberry. After following the installation instructions the application synced with my blackberry curve, and then I pulled up my address book to call someone I realized ALL MY CONTACTS WERE GONE.
They were backed up in the application still, but if I wanted to call or text anyone the number was gone. Any incoming calls show up as random numbers not saved in my phone book as well.
The random thing now is that when I receive a call, the number just shows us the normal xxx-xxx-xxxx format without a name. But in my call history a "name" appears from my contacts. It seems they are still somewhere in my phone's operating system, but maybe the app was corrupted and now the path is gone?
Any help is appreciated!!!!! I already tried the Plaxo support directly and they told me to uninstall the application, which I did - which did not make my address book reappear.
    Desperately yours,
    Ashley

    You’re welcome.
All you have to do is copy those files & folders from the backup to the location where they should be, replacing any files with the same name that may currently be there. Your home folder is /Users/username/. And you must first quit any applications that may access those files.
Things are more involved if you do any kind of synchronization, though. Actually that could be the reason your contacts disappeared in the first place. In that case, the procedure would be as follows:
    1. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Address Book data is enabled either in Address Book > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    2. You may also need to reset the entire sync history (iSync > Preferences > Reset Sync History) to avoid synchronization issues if you use .Mac or iSync to synchronize your Address Book with other computers or devices.
    3. Quit Address Book, Mail, and any other applications that might use Address Book for something. Or just quit all applications to be on the safe side.
    4. In the Finder, copy the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist preferences file and the ~/Library/Application Support/AddresBook folder from the backup to the corresponding location within your home folder, replacing the files with the same name currently there. Alternatively, to avoid accidentally overwriting any files, you may first move to the Desktop the files that should be replaced and trash them after checking that everything is OK.
    5. If your data has been successfully restored and .Mac synchronization of Address Book data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Address Book data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.

  • Address book contacts disappeared yesterday out of nowhere... how do I -

Address book contacts disappeared yesterday out of nowhere... on my new MacBook Pro Core Duo. How do I re-import contacts from a "Carbon Copy" of my old MacBook G4 address book? • How do I get my iphone Address Book contacts to a BB Torch

hey guys - I am stuck!  I cant seem to get my contacts and calendar appointments from Iphone to my BB torch. Can anyone help me?
I am using 'ical' for calendar and 'address book' for contacts.
    Thanks and regards,
    Sham

First off, you need to determine with Apple how you can extract or move to your Mac, the calendar events and Address Book contacts. I don't know how Apple provides for that.
After you've done so, you can sync to the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Set the Configuration up in the Desktop Software to sync to your Mac's data.

  • Using Address Book with 2 mobile phones

Since a few weeks I have a second mobile phone that I also use with iSync for contact and calendar synchronisation. The problem was that Address Book could only pair with / connect to the newly added phone, not the 'old phone' anymore.
I found some old threads with the same problem stated, but no answers were given. I did find a fix for it though. I used the application Pref Setter to clear the preferences of Address Book (you can also delete the file located at: /library/preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist). Restart Address Book and the bleutooth mobile phone entry is now empty again. You will be able to choose a phone to pair with.
However, if anyone knows how to use 2 phones simultaniously, please tell me!
    Powerbook 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

You can't use Address Book with more than one phone at the same time unfortunately, it simply does not have this functionality.
I developed a little application called "Reset Address Book Pairing" which does exactly that without deleting (and therefore losing) your Address Book preferences. Just one setting in the prefs actually needs changing.
It's included with the Sony Ericsson Address Book Enabler, which adds Call & SMS support for over 40 new Sony Ericsson phones to the Mac Address Book.

  • Problems with outlook and address book contacts: my outlook contacts had around 3,000 entries. Outlook duplicated by itself and now outlook and address book have each over 340,000. What should I do?

Problems with outlook and address book contacts: my outlook contacts had around 3,000 entries. Outlook duplicated entries and have now 340,000. I reinstalled microsoft office and, thus, outlook, and reinstalled mac OS X system and applications. While I managed to delete outlook contacts so that I can re-sync with my blackberry, the contacts at Mac Address Book were not deleted and still have over 340,000 entries. I do not mind deleting all contacts since I have back up, but I have not been able to delete them. Also, when I go at Address Book and try to delete or merge duplicated entries, the system takes forever and never ends because of such large amount of entries. Worse, when I do so I run out of RAM memory.
My Macbook pro is just 2 months old.
What should I do? Is there a way to delete my Mac Address Book without having the problem above?
    Many thanks
