Using Adobe CS4 route network?

Next: I'm looking for a minimum configuration of hardware (memory? Process?) And network (gigabit?) To run the Adobe CS4 remotely.
The idea would be to buy a server "strong" to install the complete software, etc.. But the problem is that they are very heavy, as I know.
Around 20 users will access it remotely.
Anyone have any idea or has done this test?
Thank you!

CS4 should be installed on the local computers as far as I know. Network
performance of using Photoshop files on a server is nothing I'd
recommend. I'd never recommend using Photoshop off a server. I don't
even know if the license allows such use.

  • Do NOT get any MacBook 2012 models if you use Adobe CS4, 5, 5.5 or 6

Do NOT get any MacBook 2012 models if you use Adobe CS4, 5, 5.5 or 6.  All models are crashing on any dialog box popup's, i.e. they are nearly unusable for work, unless you like saving every 30 seconds.  They do restart Indesign very fast after it crashes...  Apple has made no comment on what seems to be an obvious video card driver issue in OS X 10.7.4 on the new 2012 models. There are a number of other video related issues as well, but the show stopper for us is the Indesign incompatibility.  Google "fixed" the Chrome problems by removing the 3D accelerator calls thereby slowing down Chrome on these models.

That is a pain then.  Pretty much all of the OS included applications (finder, Mail, iTunes, Safari,...) are all fully 64-bit programs now (since Lion) so I can see where launching them when booted into 32-bit mode could cause stability issues.
If you boot into 32-bit mode and just run the Tascam software without launching anything else, will it work?
Was it alright in 10.6? And if so, how about keeping 10.6 in a virtual machine or on a separate disc or partition?

  • Using Adobe CS4 on Windows side of new Imac: It keeps crashing..Help!!!

    Hello,
I just bought a new 2009 Imac G5, 24in screen, desktop version, 3.06 GHZ Processor, 4 GB ram, 1TB of Storage. I used Boot Camp to split the hard drive down the middle (500 GB for each side) and I installed Windows XP service pack 3.
My company gave me the new version of Adobe CS4 for Windows (brand new) and after a successful install, the programs tend to crash often. Especially Flash. Photoshop crashed as soon as I opened it up and it was a small file I was working with. What the heck is going on here people???? It's all new stuff.
Anyone have a similar issue??? It's annoying and frustrating and has prevented me from getting a lot of work accomplished, so any help or advice would be great.
    Please help!
    Thanks!
    Mike
    p.s
On a separate note(this is not a question just a comment): some of the Adobe fonts that come standard with the CS4 did not install properly and were not recognized by my computer. This is because of the Imac's graphics processor. I called Adobe and they had to manually walk me through the process (in Windows)of getting the processor to read the fonts. It was crazy and actually, it was not their responsibility to do this...the woman was just being extra nice. FYI

  • Can one use Adobe CS4 in a 64 bits computer ?

    Hi
I have a couple of  queries and I would be grateful if anyone could help me out with them.
    a) Will Adobe CS4 softwares, like After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop etc work on a 64 bits  computers ?  And if it does work, will it work with all its functionality ? Will all plug-ins, like Magic Bullet,  Twixtor, Trapcode plug-ins etc also work ?
    b) Will Adobe CS4  (and CS5) work on Windows 7 Home  or Windows 7 professional version. Or does it necessarily need  Windows 7 Ultimate verion ?
    Thanks

Thanks Todd for your reply. I will go through all the links that you have sent. It may take a while though.
Yes, a PC seems to be a good choice especially with an impressive screen and ablity to expend the RAM to a large extent
But right now as I have a limited budget and am going to be using CS4, and it wont be much useful to have more RAM than 4GB as I beleive that CS4 . being a 32 bits program, cant make use of anything more than 4 GB RAM
I am eventually hoping to buy CS5 and a very high end PC.
But for time being I was planning to buy Dell Inspiron 15r, with i5 processor, 4 GB RAM and 1 Gb ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5470.
This configuration may not be  very powerful, but will it suffice ? It may be slow , but will it be very slow ?  and will be there any jerks or blips or will it be slow and "steady" ?
Also the screen 1366 X 768. Is that good enough ?  Adobe After Effects requirements seem to be 1280 X 900
Will the Dell Inspiron 15 r with the above config, give me good enough performance so that I can do HD video editing ?
I am not doing a lot of work , but just editing my own work. Also when I sit in front of PC for long hours, my back starts to ache.. but with a laptop i can change positions, recline and even lie down - lazy me !
Looking forward to your opinion and suggestions
    Thanks

  • Can I use Adobe CS4 with Mavericks? I get message: Document Types Not Found

Not able to open CS4 after moving from 2006 MacBook to newer MacBookPro with Mavericks already installed.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.

  • I am using 2 Wlan router networks. with one i am not having internet connection. Obviously i have to reorganise this bad network. How can get access to an application guide? i Have a windows PC in use.

Do you want an application guide for the router or the iPad since you posted under the iPad discussion group?
For the iPad, click on Support in the upper right part of the screen, then manuals, and the iPad group of products and then the user guide will be listed for download.
For your router, if it is not an Apple product, you will have to do an internet search through Google for the brand and model.  If an Apple router, as with the iPad, Support > Manuals > Peripherals > AirPort

  • Adobe CS4: InDesign makes server crash.

    The situation is like this:
We have a client with some Windows XP and Windows 7 computers. These computers are using Adobe CS4 InDesign.
We are encountering server issues (freezes) due to the use of InDesign.
All clients have InDesign installed locally. The files they use are stored on a server:
Windows Small Bussiness Server 2011 (Windows Server 2008 R2); 16 GB RAM,  RAID5 disk setup; Data drive has 60% free space.
All hardware has been replaced recently.
The Network is an 1 Gbps LAN environment.
For now, we know that the server freezes as soon as someone uses InDesign.
We presume this is because off the directory of some files may be changed on the server. Since InDesign works with a database,
it can’t find the required file and freezes.
Is anyone familiar with this problem? Does someone know if there is a hotfix?
If you know more about this or have you had identical problems as well? Please let us know.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Are you saying that the server freezes or that InDesign running on the clients freezes?
And what exactly do you mean by freezes? Stops and needs to be rebooted?
The only operations that InDesign running on a client system does associated with a server is to issue file open, read, write, and close operations. It is not running on the server itself and in theory cannot freeze the server.
Provide a bit more information and maybe we can be of further assistance.

  • Adobe CS4 Design Premium Compatability

    Hello,
My daughter is required to use Adobe CS4 Design Premium by her School. I will have to buy a new laptop for this purpose. In this regard, I have few queries:
Most laptops come with Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) OS. Since the Adobe website states that this program is certified for 32-bit, I am not sure whether CS4 could perform perfectly on Vista 64-bit platform?
If the answer to the above is yes, then I intend to purchase a laptop with specs of Intel Duo 2 Core T6500 (2.1 Ghz 800 FSB 2MB Cache), 4GB RAM DDR2 800 MHz, display 1280 x 800, and 250GB 5400 rpm hard drive. Is this hardware sufficient to run CS4?
I am a layman as far as technology is concerned. I called up Adobe technical support 2 times: first time they said it wont work and second time they said it will work!!. I am totally confused. Since this means a significant investment to me, I request help and guidance from anyone on this subject.
    Thanks,
    AlokSaap

As you realize, the sky is the limit in terms of how you can configure a system. You could literally spend $10,000 on a new production PC but that certainly would not necessarily buy you any advantage unless you had particular needs that could take advantage of the extra juice that such a pricey configuration provides.
The problem with your request is that it doesn't say really what the typical user of these 2 to 3 new production PCs will actually be doing. For example, are they doing simple web page design in Dreamweaver with occasional entry into Photoshop to edit low resolution images for web display? Or are they jack-of-all-trade designers with windows open in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator simultaneously dealing with graphically very complex and large files? Dedicated to graphics work or are there half a dozen browser windows plus Outlook (or some other e-mail client) open simultaneously?
Personally, I tend to “over-configure” on the basis that if I buy high quality systems not quite at the bleeding edge, but closer to the leading edge, I'll have a system that has a useful lifetime of at least four to five years although Adobe does “allow” its engineering employees' systems to be replaced every three years. I am currently running on a Dell Precision 5400 workstation (current model is 5500) with dual Xeon Quad Core 3ghz processors, 8GB of memory, two 15000rpm SAS (serially attached SCSI) 300GB disk drives, a DVD+/-R burner, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and an nVidia Quadro FX 1700 video card driving a Dell 3007WP 30" monitor (2560x1600pixels). I have a very pedestrian Dell keyboard, but a Microsoft 8000 Bluetooth mouse. I do run quite a bit of stuff on this system using it as the hub in my office for running backups of other systems (to a bunch of IEEE1394-attached external drives), running InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop often in parallel, running tests against a development copy of the Adobe PDF Print Engine running on my system, as well as having e-mail and browsers open at all time. This system is running Vista Ultimate SP2 64-bit. This is really overkill for most users.
What you can get away for your users with of course depends on the tasks they will be running per my questions in the second paragraph above. Without those answers, some generalities:
    (1)     Unless you are doing heavy video work, you really don't need more than one processor. A single processor at approximately 2.5 ghz or better with either 2 or 4 cores will do fine in most cases.
    (2)     Memory is relatively cheap and will enhance performance more than almost any other resource you can buy today. In conjunction with that, go for either Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit (stay away from XP 64-bit like the plague). Why? Even though only Photoshop currently has a 64-bit version that can take advantage of 64-bit processing on its own, the 64-bit OS supports more than 3GB of memory and as such allowing larger amounts of real memory, you avoid the tremendous amount of disk thrashing that goes on as part of virtual memory paging operations when a whole bunch of applications running concurrently are competing for a small amount of real memory. I personally recommend 8 GB of memory in conjunction with Windows 64-bit as a minimum, even on new notebook systems!
    (3)     Disk performance is also key, especially if you are dealing with large data files. As such, 10000rpm Serial ATA or 15000rpm SAS (serially attached SCSI) drives make a tremendous, noticeable difference in performance. However, high performance disks are quite pricey, especially the SAS ones since it is now a limited, specialty market. (For new notebook systems, avoid anything other than 7200rpm drives - the difference in cost for a 5400 versus a 7200rpm drive is quite small now. I just bought a new 500GB 7200rpm drive to update my notebook system - the cost of the drive was less than $150.)
    (4)     You don't need a smoking video card (those things that cost upwards of $500 to $1000) to support the Adobe Creative Suite unless you are doing extensive video work or playing high performance video games in your spare time. Typically, a mid-range video card that supports very high resolution (such as 2560x1600) will be fine. What you don't want, either on a desktop system or a notebook computer, is an “integrated display adapter” that shares memory with the CPU. Typically, such video support appears on low end desktop and/or notebook computers - avoid like the plague!
    (5)     For desktop systems, I'm partial to large, high resolution monitors even though my vision is quite good. I'm dealing with graphic arts and I need/want both high resolution and real estate. Although these 30" 2560x1600 monitors are relatively expensive, with reasonable care, they can last for years. I have one such monitor that is now in its fifth year with no degradation of quality. Cost per day is very low to keep your eyes from going crazy and to make your work more efficient. Once you use one these babies, you can't go back!
    (6)     No preference on motherboards. That decision is generally made for you if you order a system from a major vendor. I personally am not into build-it-yourself systems. Not that I can't build those, but quite frankly, my own time is worth something and my biggest problem is having enough time to do everything I want. I get no particular pleasure in DIY computer building.
More if you give me more specifics about the usage profiles for the systems you will need to purchase.

  • Snow Leopard + Adobe CS4 +Freezes

I'm a Graphic Designer and use Adobe CS4 apps. While using Illustrator on my iMac (2006), the app freezes after about ten minutes. I'm thinking I should just UNINSTALL Snow Leopard since it worked fine before. I've updated everything since this problem began with no results.
If I uninstall will Tiger remain?
    iMac4,1 Mac OS X (10.6.4) 1.83 GHz 1GB

No. The only way to uninstall is recover your backup, or use one of these options:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1308817&tstart=10
Before jumping down that bandwagon, remember CS4 requires a lot of RAM, and 1 GB is the minimum for Snow Leopard. You can try to make sure everything is running for 32bit:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2176255&tstart=0
And upgrading the RAM to the max your machine allows*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/badram.html
It might work, then again might not. As you can see CS4's record with Snow Leopard is not that great:

Best to be prepared before making such a big leap.

  • Adobe CS4 Premier AVCHD encode time

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me.  I have just strated using adobe cs4 premier, and was thinking does an encoding of an avchd 1 minute file to H264 - should it take 11 minutes??, my machine is as follows, or is there a setting I am doing wrong?  I read somewhere you should close premier and open the sequence from the project directly in adobe encoder?,  I have disabled preview didn't make any difference on the time, and when it starts encoding the CPU is constant 99% ??? Thanks for your help.

Blu-ray Disc Drive with DVD ReWriter drive
    NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics card
    (256MB Dedicated)

    Hi,
From your experience, if i let encore encode the dv pal exported from premier it should encode better.  I have viewed the dv pal and it is perfect, so we would be encoding from sd to sd dvd???, also where is the encode settings in encore??
If I was to use another product to encode the avi to mpeg for dvd, is there a setting in encore to say not to reencode  the mpeg file???
I know that avchd to sd downsizing its not that good.
On another note.  Can I burn avchd dvd's from encore, in the past I have used another product, and after paying all this money I'm hoping I can do everything from this product??
So what I would be doing is exporting from premier using the adobe mpeg2-bluray, using another product to mux the back to m2ts.  I then want to use the m2ts on a avchd dvd I also don't want it to rencode this again??
    Thanks for your help.

This is a pretty straight forward process, in settings on your phone go to general>network>personal hotspot. As SP has said most likely you will have to contact your wireless provider to set it up. I know for at&t you can set up this option through att.com/wireless or dial 611. It will cost you around 45 dollars per month and this gets you the ability to tether up to 4 wireless devices and alots you 4GB per month data. Hope this helps.

I've heard that it will also cancel your current contract.  That isn't such a huge deal unless your current contract is an unlimited one--you can never get it back.
Does anyone know for sure?  I've asked AT&T and received a "Yes it will cancel your current contract." and "No, it is a new contract--you keep your old contract if you wish."  I suspect it is the former but it would be good to know for sure before ordering the service.

How can I set up a guest access point with a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme? I am using a Telus router with the Time Capsule used as a wireless access point (bridge mode). I don't want the guest access point to have access to my network.

The Guest Network function of the Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme cannot be enabled when the device is in Bridge Mode. Unfortunately, with another router...the Telus...upstream on your network, Bridge Mode is indicated as the correct setting for all other routers on the network.
If you can replace the Telus gateway with a simple modem (that performs no routing functions), you should be able to configure either the Time Capsule or the AirPort Extreme....whichever is connected to the modem....to provide a Guest Network.
