Using Adobe Illustrator and NetBeans

I'm trying to draw an image to use in my java program, which I've been using the GUI Builder in NetBeans to put together. It's a wheel for Wheel of Fortune, and I've drawn a great-looking one in Adobe Illustrator but can't figure out how to successfully convert it to a normal image file (right now it's a vector image file) and put it in my program. I've tried using a program called AB Viewer, which converted the picture from SVG to JPG, but it lost a lot of the quality and is acting funny. Does anybody have any suggestions for an easy way to accomplish this, or perhaps another draw program that will make the process easier?
The simple paint program MS Paint, I guess it's called, doesn't have enough features for me to get the wheel detailed (I need to be able to rotate the wheel and the text at whatever angle).

I figured I'd get a sassy answer. I suppose my question doesn't have to do with java programming explicitly - I just thought people here might have experience working with their own image files. Sorry I asked???
I'll check out Gimp.

  • Recommended hardware configuration when using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

    Hello!
I am an Illustrator who uses Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop most of the time. Today I am using Adobe CS5.5 suite and is thinking of getting the Adobe CC. As my computer today is abit old and "tired", I am unsure about what to focus on when updating my hardware?
I am using today a HP workstation with following hardware:
    Software:
    Windows 7
    Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5
    Hardware:
    Processor:              Intel i7-2600 3,4GHz
    Internal memory:     8,00 GB DDR3
Disc drive:               500GB SATA disk 7200rpm
Graphics card:        NVIDIA GeForce GT 1GB
Since I work both with Technical Illustrations with loads of anchor points in Adobe Illustrator, I get sometimes error messages like "Out of memory" and such. I read about having two discs, one system disc and one work folder disc, that would solve that problem. But I am also working alot with large illustrations for comercial and advertising situations and I feel that it tend to get a bit slow, especially when I add gradients and blendmodes to an illustration.
So If I could get som recomendations of what to focus on to boots the speed in my system, also taking into account that my budget is somewhat small, I would really appreciate it!
    Best regards
    Ulf

I have similar setup to yours.
From my point of view you need more RAM. I have 16GB. Than you will need to change in preferences to adjust memory used by PS and Illustrator. Maybe take a look at virtual memory in Windows and disable aero effects.
Disk. It is better to have one disk for system (eg.SSD) and one for documents. But don't buy something like WD Green series that is intended for backup.
Graphics. It is not a major player I think for your tasks, but OpenGl can speed up rendering in Photoshop and Illustrator.
When exporting AI with layers to PSD it will always show "out of memory" unless you turn off anti aliasing.
and the most important thing reinstall Windows after some time... It will work faster.

  • I am using a Pro 100 printer. I am on a Mac using Adobe Illustrator and printing on A-2 paper.

    Hi Guys -
    I am trying to print on A-2 paper which is 5.5" x 8.5". On a Pro-100
I would like to print my image without any boarders - "edge to edge".
I am using a Mac and I am using Adobe Illustrator CC
It seems that my margins in the pre-set are off  - the preview shows what I am printing, which looks correct - but when it prints the left side is getting cut off. Very strange.I re-set the margines to 0.3 but that gives me a boarder. I tried changing the paper type to boarderless - which changed everything.
    Any adivice would be great.
    Thanks!

If you installed the Seagate software, remove it according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Using Adobe Illustrator and Cad

I'm working on a project. I designed a section view of my house in Cad 2013 and I want to add color and people to it in Illustrator CS6. How do I go about doing this. I've tried opening a pdf and adding color, but I can never select and anything to add color to my drawing. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PDF's output from drafting packages and other "foreign" sources, when opened for editing in Illustrator, quite often contain clipping masks and compound paths based on component associations that Illustrator (and its users) wouldn't typically make or recognize. Your drawing will come into Illustrator behaving like one big group that won't ungroup. That's because it isn't a group; it's a clipping mask based on the extents of the drawing. The first thing I do is select all, (Ctrl+A), then release clipping mask, (Ctrl+Alt+7). Pressing (Ctrl+Alt+7) repeatedly often reveals that there are other clipping masks nested within the large outer one. Most of the time, you can release all the masks this way without changing the appearance of anything. Each released mask usually leaves behind an invisible frame. (no stroke or fill), that you can delete or leave, dpending on how intensive your editing will be. The release of nested masks may also result in groups and sub-groups that I also like to release similarly by pressing Ctrl+A then Ctrl+Shift+G repeatedly. Once you've done this, you should be able to select and treat any of the individual components on the artboard as desired, although you may still run into some compound path items that will hinder your selection process. These can also be released, but you'll want to be more cautious with respect to how it might alter appearances, especially if there are filled paths involved.

  • I want to know if it is legal and acceptable for me to buy the Individual version of Adobe Illustrator and use it for commercial purposes

Good day, I'm looking to buy the latest Adobe Illustrator. I am an individual / freelancer and I work from a home office. I am based in South Africa. I want to know if it is legal and acceptable for me to buy the Individual version of Adobe Illustrator and sell the illustrations / vectors etc I produce on sites such as RedBubble etc. In other words to use the Individual version as a freelancer for commercial purposes.
Also why the price difference between the Annual Plan, paid monthly and the Monthly Plan?
And once I have paid for a year, with whichever plan, is there a continued annual subscription due or am I done paying after a year?

    wendy
It is perfectly fine to sell what you create with all versions of Illustrator, even the educational one.
The price difference is because if you commit for a full year you get a better price - kind of like a volume discount.
If you subscribe, you will have to continue paying each month if you want to continue to use the software. It's a subscription, so you'll need to pay for as long as you want to keep using the software.

  • Is it possible to use Adobe Illustrator in multiple computers with the same account?

    Hi guys,
So our company is a small designing tile company,
we wanted to purchase the Adobe Illustrator and was wondering if it was possible to use it in multiple computers with one account, as we have two computers that are frequently use for designing, or do we have to buy two separated Adobes Illustrators for each computer?
    Thanks

From the End User License Agreement (EULA):
2.1.3 Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the restrictions set forth in Section 2.1.4, the primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.1 (“Primary User”) may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer.
So, while it CAN be installed on more than one computer, they may not both be in use at the same time.

  • Pantone solid to process conversion using Adobe Illustrator CS5

    Hello everyone.
I´m having a little problem converting a solid color to process using the Adobe Swatch Libraries.
I own a Pantone Color Bridge Coated and Uncoated set books and I chose the color 3262 C for a client of mine.
On the book the equivalent process color for this solid one is C 76 M 0 Y 38 K 0.
But, when I select the same solid color on Adobe Illustrator, and I ask to convert to process, the software is giving me different CMYK coordinates. The software is showing the "correct" process color equivalent to 3626 C is C 78 M 0 Y 32 K 0.
    Ok, now my questions:
    - Which one I should consider as the most accurate solid to process conversion? The book or the Adobe conversion?
    - Maybe my Adobe Illustrator is not updated? I downloaded the digital Libraries from Pantone web site and I´m still getting this mismatch.
    - Maybe the book is not updated ? I just bought the "Pantone Plus Series" this week - it´s the most update book of Pantone!).
Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, I think I found my answer. And it´s easier than I thought.
I contacted the Pantone suport and they just realize I was talking about other book.
I have the Pantone Color Bridge Books. But not the standard ones. I have the Plus Series (with the green cover). This is the most updated books from Pantone.
The Plus Series has different CMYK equivalents, because in this edition they unified the European and the North American CYMK standards.
And of course, because of that, the Adobe swatches libraries was outdated.
Then I just downloaded the new PANTONE PLUS Digital Libraries for Adobe on Pantone´s web site. Now I can pick the right color, just selecting the Pantone+ in the swatches libraries. Here is the link: http://www.pantone.com/pages/Pantone/Pantone.aspx?pg=20721 (you have to be a registered member to download it).
Now I have the same both CMYK coordinates from the book and from the Adobe conversion.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help!

  • Can i create program, using Adobe Illustrator SDK, which would understand *.ai file format (cs versi

I need to write converter from cs ai files to my own format.
Can i use Adobe Illustrator SDK for creating such a program?
Is there in SDK libraries, which would be used for reading by program cs ai file format?
Must Adobe Illustrator be installed for such a program would work?

Well, if Idraw can do it you would need to figure out which format it likes (probably tiff would be my guess), save in that format and open the image there and proceed with however it works. The only useful advice I can offer is that jpg is a poor choice for any image that includes text. It will be fuzzy.
