Using Adobe Photoshop with Apple OSX 10.5.1

hi, when i try to use photoshop 7.0.1 with osx 10.5.1 i get the following error msg:
'an unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit'
there are other little problems like getting a spinning cursor when i'm executing some routine task from a menu. in fact, since i installed osx 10.5.1, i get that annoying spinning rainbow cursor regularly. it's as if the computer is struggling to complete the task.
considering the hype leading up to the launch of leapard, i was anticipating a dramatic boost in speed and performance. but instead, my computer seems to be slower than before i installed it and always, always the dreaded spinning rainbow cursor plagues me.
has anyone else had these problems happening to them?
thanx,
mike

Well, maybe, CS3 is the only one fully compatible, but Photoshop CS and CS2 will work...mostly. There are a couple of niggling little problems, but I have been able to do what I want, one way or another, with CS1. Elements 2 is, like PS7, a dead letter in Leopard, but Elements 3 and 4 work. Of course, these older programs run in Rosetta, being non-Intel native, and so my MacPro runs them at the same speed as my old G4 dual 800. I'm looking forward to a speed boost when my Xmas upgrade to CS3 is installed.

    jpg does not support Layers.
Just to make sure, what exactly do you mean by "stacking photos" and what do you want to achieve thereby?

Happy to report that iTunes Match has returned to working like normal on iTunes 10.7 on my computer today. If any iTunes engineers read this thread, I really appreciate the fix.
Has it returned to normal for you?

    Hi Chris,
Shortly after I got your message below, I got another message that claims it is from "help desk 24x7 has sent you a message - Adobe Forums”.
I am attaching the message.  I find it suspicious that it is asking for a Skype ID and a telephone number.  What do you think?

  • How best to use adobe photoshop on a direct ink injecter garment printer with an Epson pinter head and nozzel sprey

just starting t-shirt printing business but having problem pairing printer to PC using adobe Photoshop 13 elements software

You will need to give more information.
Please define "having problem pairing printer to PC."  -- Tell the whole story, what you are trying to do, and what happens instead ...
This sounds so far like it's a printer problem, not a Photoshop problem ... ?  Have you tried printing with other applications? Does that work?
Have you checked your cables? Print drivers? Read the printer manual, etc. -- ?

  • Difficulty with using adobe photoshop after expiration of creative cloud trial

Hi! We bought added photoshop for student edition late last year, set it up on the mac and now it no longer works!  We assume that this may be related to trialling the creative cloud version which has now expired and hence the photoshop program no longer works!
Is there any suggestions on how we may rectify this issue so that we can actually use photoshop which is what we intended on doing?

    Hi teganm67518096,
Unfortunately, we need to have an active subscription so that you can carry on using Adobe Photoshop CC or Later version. Check the following link for more options.

  • Am I allowed to monetize my Youtube video with speed painting using Adobe Photoshop software?

    Hello!
I have a question regarding monetization of my Youtube video.
If I record a speed painting done using Adobe Photoshop software, where the user interface is visible, can I monetize my video and commercially make money off of this? The focus of the Youtube video will be on the painting and not so much the Adobe Photoshop software (it is not a tutorial).

We're all end users of Adobe products just like you but my reply is the same as Mylenium's.
It won't be officially from Adobe unless you see an Adobe Staff badge next to the responder's name.
It's highly unlikely that Adobe staff will respond in this forum.

  • Using Adobe Photoshop Elements installed on another volume

I am using Photoshop Elements 6 on a Mac computer running OS 10.9.
I am working on a video project that will not open in OS 10.9. My hard drive is partitioned to include an older Mac OS (OS 10.6) which I boot into when working on the project. This procedure works fine until I need to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to make changes to still photos within the project. The problem is that the Photoshop Elements application that exists within my main hard drive boot volume will not run within the OS 10.6 volume, even though it previously did when OS 10.6 was the current OS.
I get an error message that states that “Licensing for this product has stopped working.” and it says that I need to reinstall the product. For various reasons, I don’t wish to install Photoshop on two separate volumes of the same physical hard drive. There must be a way to make the same application work with both volumes, just as most other applications do. Is there a way to do this?

Here are some excerpts from this web page:
    http://ask.metafilter.com/194687/Unix-vs-Apple-OS
Apple's operating system, which is to say Mac OS X, is actually a specific implementation of UNIX. "UNIX" is a trademark owned by The Open Group, who controls who gets to apply it to their products, based on whether they meet certain requirements (the Single UNIX Specification). Apple got Mac OS X certified a few years ago, meaning that it is actually a UNIX implementation.
Linux, interestingly, isn't a UNIX because it's never been certified by The Open Group and differs in some technical ways from the Single Unix Specification. But from a purely functional standpoint, using a Linux distro probably feels more like a traditional UNIX environment than Mac OS X, mostly because Linux uses XWindows/Xorg in its GUI layer in common with traditional UNIX environments, while Mac OS X has a proprietary GUI (Aqua).

  • Mac OS X update (3/19/13) crashes my iMac.  After installing an automatic OS X update, every time I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 to print to my Epson R1800 printer (which worked perfectly just before the update), my entire system crashes.

On 3/19/13 I was printing photos on my Epson R1800 printer using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 with no problems.  I got an automatic Apple OS X software update which I installed.  Ever since, when I try to print photos my iMac crashes.  How can I unistall the OS X update?

What you are experiencing is called a Kernel Panic and is NOT caused by the OS, they can be difficult to troubleshoot as they can be software or hardware relate. The X Labs writes and excellent article about them, in Kernel Panics. Please read it carefully. In order to troubleshoot your KP you need to post your last KP log, Apple provides instructions for doing so in How to log a kernel panic. Please follow the instructions in that article and post your complete KP report.
As mentioned previously it is NOT caused by OS X! There are common causes, including RAM issues, outdated applications, hard disks failing etc. By posting your KP log we can look at it and determine if it's software and if it is then point  you to what is causing the issue.

Bridge comes with Photoshop but not with Elements.

Not sure what you mean by that: is that URL in an image, or is it actual text?
If it is in an image, then you need to extract the image, edit it with something like Photoshop, then add it back to the PDF.
If the URL is actual text, I suggest that you remove the entire URL, then add the corrected link.

  • Installing/using Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Hi, I bought a used Adobe Photoshop 7.0 CD and installed it on my G5, I am running OS X (10.5.8). The installation went smoothly, but I cannot open the application, I get a message that says "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem occured because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit." Does anyone have any idea what might have gone wrong, what I should do? Will Photoshop 7 run on this OS? I am wondering if it has something to do with a question it asked when I was installing it about "classic" vs "native" environment??? I don't have the classic version of OS X.
Any ideas? I want to upgrade from Elements 4, which is still installed, but I am finding roadblocks with this OS, i.e. Elements 8 requires the Intel processor. I have had my Mac for years but just surf and email, just recently started playing with photography and am a novice Photoshop user, any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

While there is an Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 plugin update for G5 (OS X) available
from their update web page, I am not certain about where that would fit in this
situation where the app itself acts oddly, when installed in your computer system.
In fact, two plugin updates for G5 running OS X are listed; one is 11MB & another
is 1.4 MB; both of these are from the years 2004 and 2003, respectively. And they
are specific to version 7.0.1, not 7.0. (Appears to be a retail step, maybe?)
So, that makes the updates and the application itself rather old and probably suspect.
Even though there is some evidence of a Photoshop 7 that runs under a Mac OS X.
There should be some information on the product's retail box as to what system specs
it was made to run within the year that Photoshop version was written.
The current version of Photoshop is at least v. 11 now; there are updates at Adobe for it.
The latest would likely be for the latest Intel-based Mac and not Universal build anymore.
And Leopard 10.5.8 does not support a Classic (a captive non-boot OS9 ran under OS X)
as that was dropped after Tiger 10.4.11. If the Photoshop retail installer offers an OS X
version installer, or one for use in Classic/OS9, an OS X version still may not work in 10.5.8.
Since the G5 did not support dual-booting directly in OS 9.2.2, the other aspect is also out.
Perhaps someone who has gone this path will contribute relating to their experienced findings.
While I have a complete Adobe suite including Photoshop, a vintage one that I still could use,
I have found less in-depth software that does most of what I'd ever need, newer, in freeware.
{For simple edits outside of iPhoto, I've found the free-running ToyViewer to be adequate; it has
    more tools than I need, since I try to use the camera settings to create a reasonably fair original.}
    Hopefully there's an easy answer...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Can I use Adobe Photoshop Element 11 to manage my photos rather than iPhoto?

What are the problems, if any, with by passing iPhoto and using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11?

Are you referring to actually managing the image files with the Adobe Elements 11 organizer as well as editing the photos or just use PSE 11 to edit the photos?
The latter is easy.  The former would have you abandon iPhoto, move you photos out of it to folders and then manage the folders and their contents.
What exactly are you wantng to do:  manage and edit or just edit.
By the way the file management capability of PSE is far less capable than the photo managementcapability of iPhoto which is a DAM (digital asset management) application.

  • A file which was created and saved using Adobe Photoshop CS6 is not opening anymore HELP

Hi, please help with my issue which is as follows:
A file which was created and saved using Adobe Photoshop CS6 is not opening anymore and sends a message saying that the file is not compatible.
What should I do, I have invested so much in that file and I dont think i will be able to do it all over again.

That's why people do incremental saves and use backups... You could try to open the file in an image viewer like IrfanView and see which parts are salvagable, but that's as good as it gets most likely...
