Using Adobe Standard as default application

I had to download Adobe Reader for a document that I wanted to open and read. After doing this, the reader has become the default for opening all PDFs instead of my Adobe Standard. Now, in order to open a PDF in standard so I can work on it, I have to find the Adobe Standard in my program files, open it and then search for the PDF I want to open. How can I remake Adobe Standard my default program for opening all PDFs when I click on the PDF?

Kindly follow the below mentioned steps to change the file association for Windows :-
Go to Control Panel from the “Start” menu.
Under Programs, choose Default Programs
Choose Set Associations (Vista), or Associate a file type or protocol with a program. (Windows 7)
Find “.pdf” in the list of file associations.
Select Change Program, and choose Acrobat Standard from the list.
Click Ok

Is the calendar available with this version of Adobe Standard? I know with Adobe Reader 7.0 it is, but we have to use Adobe Standard 6.0.3 and I would like to make use of the calendar.

The calendar control was only implemented for windows in the AcroForms plugin for Reader 7. There is no alternative in 6.x.

Making Adobe Reader my default application for viewing PDF files.

Can someone help me on this issue. I am trying to put adobe reader as the default pdf application instead of preview. I have tried everything...however when i download a pdf document it only provides me the choice to open with preview.

Control/click (or right click if you're using a two button mouse) on whatever file you're wanting to change the association to. In the menu that comes up select "Get Info" and another box will open. Down towards the bottom you should see Open with: and a drop down that has suggested apps. If it's in the list select it (if not navigate to it) and then once that file is associated with whatever app. right below you'll see Change All... and select it and now all those file types will open with whatever app you've selected.

Everytime I try to print using Adobe Standard 8, I get a double image on everything except page 1

From page 2 on, it has the basic shape and spacing of the pages, but all the text comes out with garbage letters and overstrikes.
I would attach an example or paste a snip, but this window won't accept it.
However, when I block copied the garbage text from the PDF and pasted it below, it came out in English with some weird spacing in the middle of words, but I could read it. It's like the second page is using a different alphabet for printing.
This is not new, but when I've needed to get a PDF of what is on screen, I've had to use MS Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. I've used the same Adobe 8 for years to create PDFs from Firefox, and it worked up until about a year ago. It still works fine to create PDFs from everything else, so I think the problem is something that changed in Firefox with one of the updates, or I hit something I didn't intend to hit that made this change in my set up.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. If that doesn't help, have you checked to see if it's a problem with your printer's drivers? Installing a different printer and trying that one should shed some light on that. It doesn't need to be an actual physical paper printer, a PDF printer, for example, will do perfectly.

Why is FrameMaker 11 not included. Both are part of TCS4?

I want to convert files to PDF on my MacBook Pro. I am using MAC OSX v.10.6.8. The Adobe Pro for Mac doesn't list this version. Does this work or is there another product I should use?

Excel does indeed print out each tab as a separate PDF. But you could then use Preview to combine the separate documents into one:

Unless there's something I'm missing, you'd have to go through a similar process with Adobe Acrobat Pro, as I don't see any way to get that to do an entire multi-tab Excel workbook to a single PDF in one step.

Adobe plugin removed. Defaults set to Adobe Standard. I get Firefox demand to install plugin. How can I force Adobe to use Standard?

RESOLUTION (seems not logical, but this worked):
Firefox would do nothing other than ask me to install the Firefox plugin for Adobe, which I accepted. This process leads to re-installing Adobe Reader. After installing Adobe Reader, all of the defaults that I previously had set to use Adobe Standard were re-set during the Adobe Reader installation to use Adobe Reader interally in Firefox.
After re-installing, I was able to load the document that previously I was unable to load (using Adobe Reader inside Firefox). I changed all of the Adobe defaults (under TOOLS/OPTIONS) to "always use Adobe Standard" instead of "Use Adobe Reader (default)". I was then able to open the document using Adobe Standard.
It appears that the following process solved the problem:
> uninstall Adobe Reader
> reinstall Adobe Reader (and the Firefox Adobe plugin)
> change the defaults from "Use Adobe Reader (default)" to "Adobe Standard [release number]"
Note: I have Firefox 21.0 installed, and Adobe Reader XI 11.0.3 installed prior to, and after, this issue.

Happens with my 5D (original) as well. Does not happen with Leica M9 and can't say for any other cameras at this time.

Actually, I wouldn't expect that much difference between most camera sensors under the same controlled conditions. I suspect if you divided up the Adobe Standard profiles into sensors and other factors more meaningful than make and model, the differences might be more obvious.
So, for example, I see little difference between a Nikon D80 and a Canon (which uses the same APC sensor technology [down to the manufacturer], I think) there is little difference. But when I compare Nikon and Ricoh I see a much more obvious difference. The fact is that the image guts of most DSLRs these days are made from one of at most three manufacturers. The majority come from two. A few others that I recall had similar sensors and image processing engines also seemed pretty similar.
The Adobe Standard is not about trying to pull the wool over our eyes. It is about establishing a baseline for raw image manipulation. The fact that most sensors and bodies will really respond pretty closely aside, there could be outliers. Making the standard based on the make and model allows for a more natural way to handle presets and what-not from the point of an application. The fact that, under the covers, most cameras really respond quite similarly in similar median conditions is not all that interesting.
It is at the extreme edges of image reproduction that the makes, models and even specific bodies will be most drastic (which is why getting to know your camera in extreme shooting conditions is important, and why being able to make your own profiles is so powerful.)
At any rate, if your particular make and model (or even specific body) is not to your liking, it is pretty easy to make your own standard. Because I don't have a studio, I've gone ahead and made "standards" like based on things like time of day (for natural light) or "my living room" which sometimes give me an easy out. No one needs to use Adobe Standard. Heck, if you really like the in-camera settings and Adobe profiling doesn't work then it may be that the vendor software is the way to go. Double heck, some professionals still think this whole raw thing is stupid and shoot JPEG. This solves a whole raft of problems -- decisions one doesn't even have to make. Just get exposure right and go!

What is Adobe Standard and the other camera profiles?

OK, so i'm using my Canon 5d mark II, shooting RAW in the Neutral picture style. When I load the photo into Lightroom, at the bottom under Camera Calibration the program shows that by default it has loaded the photograph using the Adobe Standard camera profile. My question is: Is Lightroom taking the end result of the RAW data being shot with the Neutral picture style and loading it into Lightroom where it translates the photograph (RAW + Neutral picture style) using Adobe Standard? Or is Lightroom taking the photograph (RAW + Neutral picture style) and overriding the Neutral picture style setting in my camera and replacing it with another picture style it calls Adobe Standard?
Another and potentially easier to understand way of asking the question would be if I shot two photographs in RAW, one with the Neutral picture style set in my camera and one with the Landscape setting, and then loaded them into Lightroom using Adobe Standard camera profile, would the two photographs look any different?

The photos would look exactly the same. The picture style that your camera is set on makes no difference to the raw image. That picture style is carried in your raw file as just a tag that tells Canon's raw converter how to interpret the data. Adobe doesn't use that information.
It's up to you to choose the profile that meets your artistic desires.

Default application viewers

Hi all, does anyone know how to change the default application viewers? I recently downloaded adobe reader but tiger is set to use preview as the default application viewer for my PDF documents. I cant find anywhere in preferences to change it????

Selecta pdf file and go apple-i or File -> Get Info
This produces the Get Info window. Down at the Open With pane, select your preferred app, then click Change All. This will change the default app for pdfs.

Using Adobe Standard 8.1.4 on Windows Vista. Every time I open a pdf file and try to edit the Headers, I get a message to say that 'Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has stopped working' and I am forced to stop the program. Looking at the details, I see the information:

The steps you may want to try are:
1. Uninstall Acrobat using cleaner Tool : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
2. Uninstall MS office.
3. Logon as local admin
4. Clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
5. Install MS Office, check for updates if any available.
6. Install Acrobat and make sure while installing Acrobat all the applications of MS office are closed.

Have Adobe Standard CS 5 (Student), and would like to upgrade to Creative Cloud (Non-Student) - won't accept my serial number for special pricing for existing users

I currently use Adobe Standard CS 5. It was bought with the Education discount. I would like to upgrade to Creative Cloud and see that they have special pricing for existing customers that use past versions of Creative Suite. I am no longer in Education, so I will have to buy a full version. This is fine, but it won't accept my serial number for the discounted pricing. Is there something else I should be doing?

How to use Adobe forms in ABAP

Hi Bhavik,
there is extensive documentation on creating PDF-based forms for printing in ABAP Workbench (transaction SFP) on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d2/4a94696de6429cada345c12098b009/frameset.htm.
The infrastructure is identical (ADS on Java Engine) except that you need an ABAP backend (minimum 6.40) and the corresponding SAP GUI. You also need to create an HTTP connection from your ABAP system to the ADS in transaction SM59 (see ADS Configuration Guide).
Your Adobe LiveCycle Designer installation from the NWDS should be OK, if you are working on the same frontend. (If you have difficulties with Designer, uninstall it and install it with the SAP GUI again).
Note that Web Dynpro for ABAP integration is only supported as of NetWeaver 2004s (going into ramp-up with mySAP ERP 2005 this month), which means that interactive scenarios are more cumbersome to implement in ABAP with NetWeaver 04.
Some of the things you get with the Web Dynpro framework (such as the return of data in interactive scenarios via the WD context) would need to be manually coded when working in SFP, which was designed for output forms.

How do I set Adobe as my default t oopen attachments?

when I try to open an attachment, Windows Media appears. the only way I have found to open the attachment is to save and "open with." How can I cange my settings to use Adobe as the default?

Click the PDF file (any one), now from the Finder Menu > File choose Get Info
open the section like so, choose Preview (or whatever) and select Change All
