Using AE at 2 locations, quick way to setup?

So i recently got another xbox for my gf's house, and decided that the xbox N wireless adapter ($100) wasn't worth it. I ended up getting a AE to connect the xboxes online instead, as i could at least use it for other things as well.
Here is my issue however...
At my house, im running time capsule, and of course use the AE, plug the xbox into the ethernet of the AE, and have the AE join my current wireless network.
Now when i bring it to my gf's house, i do the same, and also connect it into an airport extreme wireless signal.
The issue that im incoming, is that i frequently need to bring it to either location, and it seems the only way to get it up and running, is to plug it in at each location, hold the reset for the 5 or 6 seconds or until it starts blinking, and then hop on a computer, get on airport utility, and run through all the steps. The one good thing however, is that it looks like the AXpress keeps a profile for each location so that i don't have to reset settings, but its still getting tedious to have to plug in the AX, do a reset, get to a computer and then run airport utility every single time.
Is there any way that the airport express can memorize both locations, and upon plugging the unit in at a location, that it would automatically set everything up on its own? I hope its not too big of a longshot, but it would be very very nice if it could do something that would be easier than the tasks i've got now.
Other than that, i've had a great experience using this to get my xbox online
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the discussions!
When you are in AirPort Utility - Manual Setup, click the Help menu at the top of the screen. Enter "using profiles".
The following information will appear:
+Using profiles may be useful if you move your device from one location to another. For example, you might have one profile for using your base station or Time Capsule at home, where you connect to the Internet using PPPoE. You might have another profile for your office, where you connect to the Internet using DHCP.+
+When you create a new profile, a copy of the current settings is stored in the current profile. You can add a new profile, change profile settings, and then update your device with your new settings.+
+Open AirPort Utility, select the device you want to add profiles for, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the password if necessary.+
+AirPort Utility is located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.+
+To create or edit a profile:+
+Choose Manage Profiles from the Base Station menu.+
+Do one of the following:+
+On a Mac, click Add to copy the current base station settings. Give the copy a name, “Office,” for example, and make the appropriate changes to your base station, depending on how you use it.+
+On a Windows computer, select a profile from the list and click Duplicate. Give the copy a name, “Office,” for example, and then click Done. Make the appropriate changes to your base station, depending on how you use it.+
+Click Update to save the changes and switch to the new settings.+
+To switch between profiles you've set up, choose the profile you want to use from the Profiles pop-up menu at the bottom of the AirPort Utility window, and then click Update.+

I ordered my Macbook Air with Aperture two years ago. I now have an iMac - can I use that with Aperture in any way? I appreciate that it is a different computer but I am now the end user of both devices and I was just wondering if it was possible.
    Thanks,
    Sean

The answer would be in your software license agreement for Aperture. However if you cannot locate it you can ask in the Aperture forum, the link for that is:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/aperture
However I believe you can have Aperture installed on two machines however only one may be using it at a time.
On the new iMac launch the Mac App Store - Purchased - look for Aperture and download to your new machine.

  • Is there a quick way to "fit all" in the arrange window?

Does LP8 have a quick way to fit everything in the arrange window from any magnification level? Something comparable to double-clicking on the magnifying glass in Pro Tools?
For instance, let's say you've made your tracks very tall by control-down-arrowing a bunch of times. Now you want to quickly go back to having every track header showing in the arrange window. At first I thought that the key command "control-option-z" (zoom to fit selection horizontally and vertically) would work if you command-a selected all regions first. That does work horizontally, but if I have a region at the bottom of my track headers, that command does not seem to work vertically. The region at the bottom is still out of view.
One thing I tried was going to the key commands dialogue box and assigning option-2 to "save as zoom 1" and option-3 as "recall zoom 1." But when I start with everything visible in the arrange window, then hit option-2 to save that zoom level, then use the magnifying glass a bunch of times to make everything big, then hit option-3, it does not take me back to the original zoom level that I "saved" as option-2.
If the only way to get back to square one is to start there, then control-option-marquee-select to magnify a few times, then control-option-click on the background the same number of times to get back to where you started, well, OK, I will live with that.
But I am thinking there must be an easy way to "fit everything in window" with just one click, or maybe some kind of key-modified click.
    Any advice much appreciated,
    Jim

OK, thanks for the advice, Erik. I was hoping not to have to use the zoom sliders or the stretch scrollbars method, since it's not as fast as a one-click or double-click method.
One other possibility I was investigating today was saving a screenshot and then recalling it. The manual says:
    Saving and Recalling Screensets
Screensets are numbered from 1 to 99 (using only the 1 to 9 computer keys—the 0 key
is assigned to the Stop command by default).
You don’t need to save screensets with an explicit command. It happens automatically,
as soon as you switch to another screenset. Thus, without any effort, your current
working view is always stored as the current screenset.
    To create a screenset:
    1 Press a numerical key, say 7.
For two-digit screensets, hold down Control while entering the first digit.
2 Arrange your windows as desired, including changes to zoom settings, relationship of
the Arrange area and editor areas, open or closed Inspector and Media or Lists areas,
    and so on.
To recall, or switch between screensets, do one of the following:
m Input the number of the desired screenset (1 to 9).
I thought that had real possibilities. Make the arrange window the size of my whole project to begin with, then save it as, say, screenset 3. Then if I zoom in on a wave form or change the size of everything, just recall screenset 3 to get back. Unfortunately, it apparently constantly keeps track of all your changes, so if you zoom within screenset 3 and then try to recall the screenset 3 that you saved, it just takes you to where you are currently, after all the zooming. I don't understand why Logic thinks that helps you, but that's how it seems to work.
Anyway, I've spent enough time on it. I give up. I guess I will use control-left-arrow, control-right-arrow. Unfortunately, you cannot do them both at the same time, it seems, which would be faster. Oh, well.

  • Help! itunes 12 wont allow users to redownload past purchases all at once like it used to. Is there a way around this?

Help! For some reason i-tunes 12 wont allow users to re-download past purchases all at once like it used to. Is there a way around this? It will only allow you to download what it calls "Recent Purchases" which in my case only would allow 250 items. I know i have at least 700 tracks if not substantially more possibly over 2000 tracks but I can't be sure. I don't know how to find that information, I've looked in itunes under the my account past purchases but id doesn't tell you how many total songs you have purchased or any relevant details. It only shows you small chunks of receipts by date but no total tracks purchased in an easy to view snapshot that I could find. The current support page says that if you have more then 2000 songs the "ALL SONGS" tab now listed above the left pan with all your purchased artists, will change to "Recent Purchases". IF apple changed this on purpose to stop user from downloading there entire library to cut down on bandwidth they have really upset me this time. At present the only way I can download all past purchases is by selecting each artist listed in the left pan one by one selecting the "Download ALL" button at the bottom right corner of the page at which point I have to input my apple password each time, which really slows things down. I have hundreds of artists and if this is the only way for customers to re-download there entire library this is ridiculous and really unnecessary to put customers through this kind hassle just to re-download all there past purchases when the whole idea of i-cloud is to make downloading and using your music simple, quick, and convenient on multiple devices. I know the old saying "your responsible for backing up your data" yeah I know that and I've been doing that for years when no one really should ever have had too. There is no reason a service that sells music digitally should not allow customers to be able to re download content purchased on there service regardless of the fact that people should just back up anyway as an extra precaution. Well sometimes backups fail like in my case and I have to re-download. No wonder paid subscription plans are so popular. You don't have to deal with any of these issues. I can only hope this is some kind of oversight by apple and will be fixed soon. Can anyone offer a quicker solution or any information about this issue? I would greatly appreciate any helpful assistance.
Again this is for Windwos 8.1 x64 with Itunes 12.0.1.26

After spending way too much time dealing with this issue myself, I discovered that you can:
    - Within "My Music", select all the songs you need to download (all w/ the cloud icon - use Shift-Click)
    - Right click and select download
All songs will begin downloading from iCloud

  • Is there a quicker way to do a back-up of a full Lightroom catalogue & DNGs?

Hoping someone can help - sorry if I'm being thick, I'm not very techno-minded!
I am working with Lightroom 3 on a Mac OS X 10.5.8. I archive photos from the Mac hard drive onto an external hard drive (linked to the Mac via an AirPort) every few months, moving them within Lightroom to keep them visible in my working catalogue, so I can continue to access them. The Mac is backed up using the Time machine function every hour, and my automatic Lightroom catalogue backup is saved to the Mac hard drive, thus being backed up onto Time machine automatically as well (Is this wrong?).
I want to back up my archived photos from the external hard drive onto a second external hard drive, then kept off-site, in case of failure / fire etc, backing up both the actual photos (DNGs) and the Lightroom adjustments etc. I thus need to update this back-up hard drive whenever I archive a new set of photos, the aim being to get a copy of the archive and get the back-up hard drive off the premises asap, to ensure I always have a back up of all my archived photos once they are moved off my Mac. Up till now I have been doing this by "exporting as a catalogue, with negative files", onto the second hard drive; however as my archived catalogue has now reached 14,000 photos, this latest export as a catalogue has taken 2 days.... Am I missing some easier (quicker) way to do this, please??? I don't just want a copy of the catalogue, I need the actual photos backed up as well. Hope this makes sense.

    clvrmnky wrote:
BTW, at one point the advice was to not let Time Machine backup your catalogue file if Lr had it open. I'm pretty sure this is still a problem.  Either always make sure Lr is not running when TM runs, or excuse the catalogue file via the TM preferences.  There is a slight risk of corrupting the catalogue otherwise.
According to the Help documents, when Lr 3 is open it marks itself as private and therefore excluded from Time Machine backups. Once the application is closed down it can be backed up by Time Machine.
Re original question - use a purpose designed backup application as suggested by clvrmnky. Trying to do it any other way will get you into a world of hurt.

  • Looking for quicker way to change duration of file

    Hello!
I work in a broadcast environment and we have just upgraded to Audition from CoolEdit. It was a much needed change and is much better, but there is one problem. When we are doing production, we are getting ads that come out to 29.2 or 28.3 seconds, etc. We need to be able to compress and expand our recordings. CoolEdit was able to shave seconds off within seconds, even with our longer programs that are running 3 minutes. Audition took 15 minutes this morning to take off two extra seconds. Is there a quicker way to do this?
    Thanks!

The Stretch effect offers two different stretching algorithms:  the default, based upon iZotope Radius and the legacy Audition algorithm.  The iZotope algorithm is extremely high-quality and accurate, but requires a lot of processing and can be slow.  The Audition algorithm is significantly faster, but you may hear artifacts beyond certain stretch percentages.
I'd recommend taking some of the content you've stretched using the iZotope algorithm, replicate it with the Audition algorithm, and preview to see if you notice a difference.  If not, then you could consider using the Audition as the default for future projects which have a quick turn-around time.

I have read about Volume set, but I believe its something that is created automatically when the backup spans to the next volume after current volume is full.

Either use HTML strings as the values in your JList (quickest, but may not be the most convenient, especially if your model isn't just text), or create your own ListCellRenderer (e.g. extend DefaultListCellRenderer).
There is no such thing as "list.setItemForeground(int index, Color c)". You'll have to use one of the methods above.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I'm using Keynote 3.0, and am wondering if there is a quick way to check the exact duration of the presentation without playing it all the way through. I have several different lengths of slide and content transitions, and am adding slides and adjusting to fit a certain song. Thanks.

If you paste in a block of code and are missing import statements, then when you save the file (assuming auto-build is checked), you'll get compiler errors. The easiest way, I find, to fix the import errors is to go to the line throwing an error, delete one letter from the end of a declared type and then auto complete the name (ctrl + space). Of course, this only work if the class can be found in your library or source paths.

  • Quick way to assign table header IDs to data cells?

    Acrobat X (10.1.9)
For accessibility of tables with complex headers, is there a quick way to assign header IDs to data cells associated with them?  I haven't found any faster way than going one cell at a time.
All tags already have an ID, this question is how to quickly assign IDs of the header cells to all data cells in a row or column.
Even better, is there a feature or plug-in that looks at a table's column and row spanning, and automatically assigns headers to all data cells?
I've used Table Inspector in Acrobat, and a several-years-old version of the CommonLook plug-in. Both of these allow you to set various properties to all cells in a selection. And they act like they happily set header IDs for multiple cells, but after clicking OK and looking at cell properties, TI doesn't set it for any of them, and CL only sets it for the first cell that was selected.
I prepare PDFs of scientific reports for Section 508 compliance. Often they are hundreds of pages long and have scores of large tables. Some clients insist on complex headers. Going cell by cell is astonishingly time-consuming.

    Hi Danny,
The table editor in Acrobat XI is improved in some respects over X but still behaves exactly as you describe on table IDs – it pretends to allow IDs to be set for multiple cells but they do not stick.
You may want to evaluate the current CommonLook. It reportedly excels at tagging complex tables. I evaluated it quite some time ago and was underwhelmed, but I understand it has improved.
You might also be able to cheat a bit on some tables, using alt text (see raeben3’s post here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1188165) or adding blank cells to the table tag structure to “regularize” the table. In other cases you may be able to deviate from the visual table representation and tag the content as a series of sub-headings and smaller, regular tables or lists. In some cases you will have to bite the bullet and use spanning properties and header IDs.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a quick way to convert Albums to Projects?

Due to bringing in legacy organizing from iView MediaPro into Aperture years ago... I have an organizational structure consisting of few top level Projects containing many Albums. I now realize I should have few top level Folders containing many Projects (which contain Albums when necessary).
So the question is... is there a quick way to convert an Album to a Project? If I have to create a new Project for each Album I have by hand... this will take forever as I have hundreds of Albums.
    Thanks!

Doing it manually is what I'm trying to avoid... I have a LOT of albums. I started trying to script it but I am trying to piece it together with my uber limited applescript knowledge... here's what I've got:
    tell application "Aperture 3"
    set imgSel to (get selection)
    if imgSel is {} then
    error "Please select an image."
    else
set pName to name of parent of item 1 of imgSel
set pID to id of parent of item 1 of imgSel
set cID to id of parent of parent of item 1 of imgSel
    tell library "Aperture Library"
    make new project with properties {name:pName}
repeat with i from 1 to count of imgSel
move item i of imgSel to project (pName)
    end repeat
    end tell
    end if
    end tell
It's ghetto (there's some stuff I need to comment out that wasn't used) and it seemed to work in the test library I setup, but when I went back there were some weird thumbnail issues so I'm scared... not to mention it doesn't seem to work in the actual library for some reason. It won't create the new project. Weird.
