Using Airport connection to send faxes

Wanted to know if it is possible to send a fax using Airport. I am all connected for printing but can't work out how to send a fax other than plugging the modem into a telephone line. Thanks

You cannot use the Airport Base Station as a faxmodem. You need to plug your Powerbook's own built in faxmodem to a telephone line.

  • Using Airport Express to send music... but...

Okay, not sure if this is possible but:
I have an Imac G3 snow (without airport card) which is hooked up via ethernet to my router (which is also wirelss). Also hooked into this router is my Powerbook G4 (wirelessly).
I have all my music on the Imac. What I'd REALLY like to do is somehow use the airport express thingie to attach speakers to in the other room and be able to play itunes on it.
I thought that MAYBE there would be a way to hook that up to the router (wirelessly) and then the Imac would be connectly to the router ad presto - all connected.
But not looking that way. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or, perhaps I'm trying something that can't be done?
Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed on this!
    Powerbook G4, Imac G3 Snow   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I probably did that (create another network) in the beginning, yup. But have now reached Stage 5 . I think.
I have managed to get it working, playing music from my iTunes into the front room and still connect to the internet. I think that means that I've managed to get it to join the existing network.
But what doesn't work (and may never work?) is playing from the iTunes on the Imac (which doesn't have airport, but is connected to the network via ethernet). Not sure why that isn't working.. Any ideas, anyone? Sorry to be such a clueless one, but i've tried everything.
I can, however, and this is new, play the music that's on the iMac by connecting through iTunes sharing from the powerbook. Whew. But still not ideal!
Thank you so much! I've ordered a wireless usb thingie to stick onto the Imac. Not sure it'll work (it was ever so cheap!), but worth trying for a laugh!

  • WEP Key for registering XP to use Airport connection?

In my Windows XP partition, the computer recognizes my Airport card, and can access the hardware; however, it's not allowed to connect with my ordinary password, rather it's calling for a multi-digit "WEP Key" - How do I figure out what my WEP Key is to allow it access?

    Hi John,
    Go to Applications-Utilities-Airport Admin Utility,
and click to open. Highlight your base station and
double click to open the preference window. In the
toolbar at the top of the window, click on Password.
In the drop down you will see the Hex equivalent
password (WEP key). This is the number you need to
    enter in XP.
    Thanks much!

  • Sending fax from 9i forms - urgent

    Hi,
I have seen using utl_stmp packages for sending Fax in forms 6i and also with microsoft exchange. There is an demo for sending an email from forms 9i with javamail on OTN. There are any documents for similar kind for sending fax ? in forms 9i with java?
    thank you.

I'm really interested in knowing what goes into providing a functionality like..
We have a form with a button like FAX REPORT, when I click on it it should ask me to enter the fax number, I choose the faxt number, and click Fax button... then it should get faxed.
As we know that Oracle 6i doesnt have this inbuilt, how should we achieve this. What are the different pieces which should be put together to make this happen.

  • HT1109 Mac has no airport connection

I owed this Mac for the last four years. I recently had this problem where I can't get online anymore. I currently use airport connection to get online and had been using for the last four year.  Is there anyway I can get the connection back?

    Hello,
Does the Airport icon show any black bars?
Instead of joining your network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

  • Nokia 6275i to send fax?

Can I use Nokia 6275i to send fax.
    How to use it?
    Thanks
    miracle888

No. There's really no conversion because all you are doing is packaging an image into a PDF file. The only way it goes faster is to convert to text. That would require OCR.
You might try using VueScan ($60) a shareware scanning program that supports a large number of different scanners and also does OCR. Check it out at www.hamrick.com to see if your scanner is supported. If not then you're stuck with ReadIRIS which is about the only OS X supported OCR product.

  • Can i use my mx860 as a fax machine over an airport connection?

I have the wireless printing up and running, i just do not have a phone jack in my room to complete setting up the fax

    Hi ChefMatt,
The printer will need to be connected to a phone jack in order to use the fax; it cannot be used over an Airport connection.

  • Using airport extreme base station modem to fax

Can I use an Airport Extreme Base Station with a modem to send faxes?
    powerbook G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

kersto, Welcome to the discussion area!
No. The built-in 56k modem is only for connecting to a dial-up ISP. There is no ability to send FAXes.

  • How do I send faxes using OS 10.4 ?

I am using airport to connect to a BT hub for broadband. So how do I send faxes. When I follow the instructions for faxing it says choose document >print>fax but then it asks me to set up modem which I cant & then just says error when I press fax button

    Many thanks Babowa,
Your answer is that rare thing, a clear and understandable, sensible answer - something almost unheard of in the computing world which is full of utter, utter rubbish. Which is precisely why I needed to make the query in the first place.
Yes it is the old 10.4.11 and I guessed it was because of the technical reasons you mention, but I had no way of finding it out for sure as the mac info on the computer just talks garbage at me and doesn't give that obvious explanation.
The problem is really all about the appalling unavailability of proper information when and where you need it which all computer users constantly suffer from because software writers and their management are idiots.
to communicate with this particular government department and I do not have an email azddress becaseu the departme4nt doesn't want anyone to communicate wiht it. So I can only send a fax - not an email. It is all very, very silly.
And heres another silliness. the muddle of above is becasue I accidently pressed a key and then the menu bar wouldn't let me restore a deletion.
design mac one, just a few weeks old and it is horrible.

  • Sending FAX with attachments using in RightFax

    Hi,
We are in CRM 7. and sending Fax using  RightFax - Rightfax through SMTP/SAP Connect configured.
In case the outgoing Email in format html – attachment not sending through RightFax
    (Mail document class is MHT)
I can see the mail with the attachment in SOST
In case the outgoing Email in format text – attachment sent correcty.
    )Mail document class is RAW)
It’s probably related to mail document class,
But I didn’t  figure it out.
    Thanks,
    Liat

For oracle8i there is an example package from OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
You have to re-write the package a bit to work it with BLOBs instead of RAW attachments, but that should be no problem
    Hop this helps,
    Michiel

  • Sending Faxes using internal modem and DSL

I found that I can receive a fax, but I cannot send one. When I try and send one the internal modem tries to connect to the internet using "internet connect". It searches for a number to connect to the internet. Since I am using DSL now I don't have a phone number to dial into the internet. If I put my phone number in it calls me and gets a busy signal.
Can someone tell me how I should be configuring the internal modem?

    From the Knowledge Base at
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh1797.html
    Sending a fax
You can fax files directly from your computer to any fax machine or computer that is set up to receive faxes. If your computer has a modem that is connected to a phone line, it is automatically configured to send faxes.
Open the document you want to fax.
    Choose File > Print.
Choose Fax PDF from the PDF pop-up menu.
Type the fax number of the user you want to receive your fax in the To field.
You can also choose users directly from Address Book by clicking the Address Book button to the right of the To field. Be sure you have a fax number listed for each user you choose in Address Book. For more information about using Address Book, see Address Book Help, available in the Help menu when Address Book is open.
If necessary, type the dialing prefix required for the phone system you're using in the Dialing Prefix field. (For example, if you need to dial a 9 to access an outside line, type 9 in the Dialing Prefix field.)
If you want to send a fax through a modem other than your computer's built-in modem, choose it from the Modem pop-up menu.
If you want to send a cover page with your fax, click the Use Cover Page checkbox and type a message in the Message field.
If you need to change any of the preset faxing options, choose the type of options you want to change from the Fax Cover Page pop-up menu. (To see options for the application you're using, choose the application from the pop-up menu.)
If necessary, select options for the type you chose. (For example, you can select the number of copies you want faxed if you chose Copies & Pages in step 8.)
Tip: If you have a combination of options that you frequently use when faxing a document, you can save it as a "preset." After choosing your options, choose Save As from the Presets pop-up menu and type a name for the set of options. If you want to use this set of options when you fax a document, choose its name from the Presets pop-up menu.
    Click Fax.
The fax is sent as soon as your modem is available. (For example, if you're using your modem to connect to the Internet, the fax is sent after you disconnect from your Internet service provider.)
You may want to send your fax at a later time. For example, you may want to send it at night when telephone rates are lower. Just choose Scheduler from the Fax Cover Page pop-up menu, and enter the time. Make sure your computer is on, is not asleep, and is connected to your phone line at that time.

  • HP Deskjet 3550 cannot print using Airport Extreme via USB connection on Windows 7 64 bits

Product Name and Number: HP Deskjet 3550 Inkjet Printer
Operating System installed: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits
    Error message: None
Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred: Setting up HP printer using Airport Utility to add a new printer and installed Bonjour Print Wizard.
Problem: My printer is already set up using Airport Utility. When I print something, the printer doesn't do anything. Is there something I haven't done lately in order to get this printer working using my wifi router?
Suggestion #1: Are the print jobs getting stuck in the print queue? You can check this by clicking on the printer icon in your task tray by the clock.
Error Message #1: Yes, the print job got stuck in the print queue, but the moment, it disappeared from the print queue and the printer doesn't print at all. This is frustrating.
Suggestion #2: Does the printer work as expected if you connect it directly to the PC via USB?
Error Message #2: Yes, the printer works if I connect it directly to my PC via USB, but I don't understand why it wouldn't work with the wifi router, though.
Suggestion #3: This has to do with the way the router handles the connection to the printer. I found another thread, regarding this issue, and it has some information that may help resolve it.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Print-Problem-Using -USB-Printer-on-Airp...
If that does not help, I would recommend posting on the Apple forums, as they may have more expertise with the router's abilities:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/wireless/airport
Error Message #3: After clicking on the first link that you posted, it was very helpful, but the printer couldn't print completely and somehow it would stop at the quarter of a paper. It looks incomplete when I took it out from my printer. It does that every time.

    UPDATE!
Problem solved!  So this is just a followup in case someone else ever stumbles into these boards with the same or similar problems as mine, that is, trying to run an HP Deskjet D1500 series printer [mine's a D1520] on an Airport Extreme wifi router's USB port as a network printer [with the Airport Extreme controlled by an ancient G4 PowerMac Quicksilver currently running OS X 10.4.11).
Although it probably SHOULDN'T matter, since this type of printer works fine with just the Tricolor cartridge as shipped when hooked up directly to a computer's USB port, on a hunch I got a black HP cartridge (that's a type 21, not type 22 as I had earlier said), slapped it in, tried a test page, and all's well.  So, we can call off the technoid hounds.  Everything running perfectly.
I hope this message in a bottle may help someone else out there some day soon who may be scratching his or her head with a similar stumper.  And just to recap those important Windows printer settings, they are:
    * [Printer Properties--> Ports--> Add New Port...] "Standard TCP/IP Port"
    * [Configure Port] IP Address "10.0.1.1" and Port "9100"
    Best of luck!
    Bilgey

  • I can't print wirelessly using Airport Express.  I have my HP printer connected to a USB hub, and the hub to the Airport Express, but when I select the HP from the printer list, my MacBook says the printer is "off-line" - even when it is not.

I can't print wirelessly using Airport Express.  I have my HP printer connected to a USB hub, and the hub to the Airport Express, but when I select the HP from the printer list, my MacBook says the printer is "off-line" - even when it is not.  I've tried several USB connectors, and several different ports on my USB hub; same result.  I need to have the HP connected to the hub 'cause from there it's connected to our desktop Mac.

    Hi,
I am currently replying to this as it shows in the iChat Community.
I have asked the Hosts to move it to Snow Leopard  (you should not lose contact with it through any email links you get)
I also don't do Wirelss printing so I can't actaully help either.

  • Lose airport connection after using boot camp and windows XP

After using windows XP on boot camp and shutting down windows and booting to Mac OS 10.5.7 I lose the airport connection and have to restart or reset my airport extreme base station. My imac 2.8 is connected to airport via ethernet. Air port is operating on 5.7 version. This is a recent development and suspect it is related to updates in windows. I do not know where to start but need to solve this problem as it interrupts the other computers on wireless. Thanks Carl

I have solved problem. It was in the windows settings using airport rather than ethernet connection. Carl
