Using Airport Express to play music while surfing the web via netgear

Can I play music over my airport express (airtunes), while simultaneosly surfing via a different wireless router. As it stands I have been unable to do this, because I have to set my wireless connection to one or the other. When I link up to my NETGEAR for browsing, the remote speakers in itunes become unavailable.
Has anyone found a solution to this?

Hi, thanks for your help. It got me reading, and here's what I figured out:
The problem was when I originally set the profile I had my internet cable plugged into the airport express; So the set up assistant assumed that i would be using that as my internet connection. I just had to re-setup with the airport ONLY plugged into the stereo.

Ok so why is it that if I am listening to music with itunes I cant even do simple things without it skipping and sounding horrible. Also every time I try to burn my music to a disc I get an error “unknown disc error 4261” *** is this. oh I am using itunes 6 as I heard that 7 was far worse than this brilliant piece of work. Now how come I can use windows media player wile I use adobe premier and photo shop at the same time. I have a farly decent compi so why is it that itunes cant do anything worth wile other than put music on my ipod. btw my ipod is going to go on eBay just as soon as I can figure out how to get my paid for music from itunes onto cd. Itunes dosnt offer the ablility to chand the setting wile burning a disc or any of that. is there a special apple itunes cdr that I need to buy that cost $100 for a 2meg. What is an unknown disc error 4261 I cant even fix whats wrong and my compi says nothing is wrong. I am able to burn data disks for school no problem. I am trying to burn the music onto to light scribe cdr’s I did try some cheepo disks but that didn’t work so I figured it didn’t like the old disks and hey I can use the discs in my car so why not. Itunes has done nothing but **** me the f off since I got it and all I want to do is get rid of it but im sure they will not refund me the money for the music so I want it on disk and in a useful player like media player.

Suggest that you ask Sky what type of wireless security that is used on the devices that they provide.
Once you have that information, you can choose the correct matching setting when you configure the AirPort Express to "join" the Sky wireless network.
The "password" would be the normal phrase that you use to connect to your wireless network at the present time.

No music while surfing the web

I've had my iPod touch for less than 24 hours and I've already hit a snag.
I set the ipod to play music in shuffle. Then I go to safari to do web browsing. At random intervals, the music playback just stops. When I go back, it's not like it paused; I have to start the song over.
Any ideas?

It's basically crashing (the iPod part of the Touch). Could be a conflict with the particular websites you're viewing. Some of this stuff may help:

You need to use the Express in router mode.. I think you are trying to use it in bridge mode.. but you need to give us a lot more details.. screenshots might help more than anything.

How can I watch a movie while surfing the web?

I've been trying to figure out if there is any way to anchor the iTunes player so I can watch a movie while surfing the web. I've had no luck, Please tell me there is a way! =)

There are two ways I do this.
1. I set the playback in preferences to play the video in a seperate wind. Then I size the browser window so I can see both at the same time.
2. My prefered method is to play the movie on my extra monitor I use. That way I can run it full screen while working with a full screen browser.

Maybe the solution is that you iPod is slow is because you are not closing your apps after you use them. To do this you must:
1. Press the Home Button to get out of that app
2. You will return to the Home Screen
3. Click the Home Button twice, (do this quite fast, But not TOO fast)
4. A bar with all your apps that you have come out of will be on the bottom of the screen
5. Hold down one of those apps
6. They will start to "jiggle"
7. A little red circle will be beside all of the "jiggling" apps
8. Press that little red circle and those apps will close (NOTE: This is NOT deleting your apps)
9. Now you apps are closed NOT deleted
10. Your iPod will now speed up in: Browsing, downloading, syncing and much more
11. (Bonus) - To DELETE an application do the same thing ( But not clicking the Home Button twice) and all of your apps which you downloaded will "jiggle" and there will be an black circle with an X in it, click that X to DELETE that app and a dialog will pop up and say: "Do you really want to delete this app?" If you want to: Click yes.

TS3274 I have iPad 1 and while surfing the web, checking facebook the scene blacks out then goes to the home screen. Why?

While surfing the web, checking Facebook my screen goes black and the home screen comes up. What is the problem?

The apps are crashing for some reason - maybe an app conflict, a corrupt setting, low memory ....
try a few basic things and see if they help.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Keep swiping in the task bar to get to all of the apps. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or try this .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This may help as well. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Try again.

Airport Express stopped playing music and iMac doesn't see it

I had set up an Airport Express to stream music from my iMac to my stereo. Worked well for a day or two then stopped. I tried to re-establish the connection but Airport Utility doesn't even see the Express any more. I tried the reset button on the bottom of the Express but that made no difference. When I plug in the Express the green light shows briefly, then steady amber for a few seconds followed by flashing amber. The Express is within range of my network but to make sure I tried plugging it in to an outlet a few feet from my router. Airport Utility still didn't see it. Is my Express toast or am I missing something? Oh, yeah, I'm using a Belkin router but that didn't seem to be a problem when it all was working.
Appreciate any help.

I spent some more time with this last night and was able to get back up and running, albeit with some oddities.
I had previously tried a reset with the AX unplugged. I finally realized how silly that was and did another reset with the unit powered on and right next to the iMac. After some hesitation, it was seen and recognized. I was then able to set it up in the livingroom, connected to the stereo. For some reason, when I first tried that after the reset, the iMac once again didn't see it. I brought it back to the desk, did another hard reset and set it up all over again. This time it worked although I can't for the life of me figure out what I did differently.
Oddities:
When I first reset it, the AX went from solid to flashing amber. When I got it playing with the stereo, no light at all showed. When I got up this morning, the unit was showing a steady green light. I don't know what that's about.
While it plays strong and true much of the time, there are dropouts. Sometimes these last only a second or two but other times can last for up to a minute, with some raggedness upon re-establishing the connection. Do you know of any way to overcome that?

Airport Express to play music through 20th Anniversary Mac?

I'd like to be able to play music through the Bose sound system in my G3-upgraded 20th Anniversary Mac. I've used a very early version of iTunes but it annoyingly pauses fairly frequently while playing for some reason. Since I have an early Airport Express and have an Ethernet adaptor in the TAM I wondered if it's possible to connect the TAM via cable to the Airport Express and stream music from an iMac connected wirelessly to the Airport. It seems a shame not to utilize the Bose speaker system for music. Thanks for any ideas and suggestions.

As far as I know this isn't possible. I might try some stuff using my TAM (although results may very, mine isn't a production model) to see about figuring something out. If the computers sit close enough together you might be able to run a 3.5mm(1/8") headphone cable between the iMac's audio out and the TAM's line in, that or make use of the FM tuner and listen to some awesome FM stations.
Now that I think of that you can invest in something like the link I'll add at the bottom of this, connect it to the speaker port of the iMac then use the tuner on the TAM to tune into the frequency of it. This would also allow the connecting of something such as an iPod.

Play music while on the phone... but...

Noticed that you can play your iPod music while on an iPhone call? How sweet is that? Play music while on a long rambling call, or hold.
How? Simple: once you are on a call switch back to the iPod and hit play.
BUT the music is so loud that you really can't hear your call.
Has anyone found a way to independently adjust the volume of the iPod and iPhone? Pretty sure I know the answer to that.
Sadly your caller cannot hear your music either. Why not? What a rad feature that would be, play music for you and your pal while on a call.

However, I would not personally hold out much hope for its integration. I would personally find any music playing during my conversation more than a little annoying.

How long should the battery last while surfing the web?

I'm curious to know how long the battery on my Macbook should last when just surfing the web and downloading music and videos. I'm getting about 3 hours, I have a feeling it should be a lot longer. I don't have the brightness all the way up and I dim the illuminated keys.

It really depends on your configuration and what you are doing on the web.
If you have minimum RAM, the HDD will be accessed more often, causing heat which causes the fan to come on more often, which uses up power.
While I watch youtube and other forms of streaming video, my fans are usually on, so my battery life is less.
While cruising these boards and such, my battery lasts twice as long as streaming.
3 hrs while downloading music and videos is not a bad figure.
What you might want to do is watch a 2 hour movie and document the amount of time you get from the battery.
Do the same while streaming a movie.
Do some typing and or general surfing sans streaming type stuff.
The above spans a different range of CPU and graphics usage.
Then post back your times here. You will get a better indication of battery condition.
Also, post back with how much RAM you have.

Firefox goes offline while surfing the web

While i am surfing the web with firefox after a few minutes firefox goes offline.
why this happens i do not know, but until this is fixed i am going to use an other webbrowser and uninstalled firefox after many years of using firefox.

It is possible that your security software (firewall) is blocking the connection for some reason.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
